Warning! Spoilers ahead!
Let me start off by saying that this book (well two books) was full of surprises. I actually had to reread a few paragraphs because I was like, "...What in the hell just happened here?" I love a book full of surprises. :D It keeps me reading. I need to be interesting in a book within the first couple of chapters. Boi this had me, I tell yur. /end southern slang.
What I like most about this, is when Shane and Claire finally had s-s-sex. OH MY GOD, IT'S SUCH A DIRTY WORD NOW. ;P I loved how much more softer Shane got. It was quite heart melting, if I do say so myself. asdfghjkl;
Also, I love Michael. Pfft, end of story. He's just...URGH. When Claire describes his "angelic looks" and "amazing smile", I can just totally picture it in my mind. Also, I have a thing for blondes. ;P And I loved Eve since book one. She's hilarious and a badass girl. Who wouldn't love her?
And Myrnin. OHHOHOHOHOO.. Myrnin. He's my favorite character. He reminds me of Brad Pitt in Interview with the Vampire. Expect...blacker hair, and a more pointed face, lol. At the end, when Claire described him as:
As for Bishop, death would be too kind for him. Going crazy like Myrnin had is good enough for me. Thar. (Harsh, I know.)
I loved this book! Can't wait to get started on the next omnibus. :)

He looked completely different to her now, and not just because he wasn't crazy anymore. He'd remembered how to dress himself, for one thing; gone were the costume coats and Mardi Gras beads and flip-flops. He had on a gray knit shirt, black pants, and a jacket that looked a bit out of period, but not as much as before.jdklghasdhvkljls I feel for him harder then.
As for Bishop, death would be too kind for him. Going crazy like Myrnin had is good enough for me. Thar. (Harsh, I know.)

What can I say that hasn't been said in the last two books I read (well, four actually). I really love the way they come together, because it feels like I'm only reading three books, when really I just finished six out of the current eleven that are out.
So to begin, in Lord of Misrule Bishop is about to turn the town upside and the town does a complete 180 in the next book. I love how much I hate Bishop. He is really just pure evil. And not to mention the craziness that goes on in these books. What I really like about Rachel is that she doesn't flat out tell you who is good and who is bad, besides our four main characters, you have no idea, because these vampires love to play mind games with everyone. I am literally with Claire every time she turns around and finds out that someone who was supposed to be a friend turns out to be a foe and vice verse, and then it turns out it is the opposite.
It's ridicules. But the fact that Rachel can keep such a tight hold on the complexities of the novel really makes her a wonderful author.
I won't lie, in Carpe Corpus I kept trying to figure out who was on what side, but Ms. Caine just loves to keep people guessing.
The way the last book ended was a little of a surprise to me, but since the series continues I can tell that a lot more will come up. I just want to know what will happen to all the characters, and I can't wait to see more of Claire and Shane, because they are just so adorable. Compared to the way Shane acted in the first book to now is really a huge development of a character. Not to mention Claire. I don't think I've ever seen such a tougher heroine like her before.
Michael continues to surprise me with each turn. I love how loyal Rachel stays to her character, never once breaking them away from who they are, but continues to add to them with each new book.
The story line continues to get more complex and the situations more dangerous, and honestly, the reader can never know what will happen next.
Five stars out of five for pure awesomeness.

Books 6 and 7 are my favorite of the entire series (so far). So much action, I really couldn't stop reading.

Love this series. Claire grows more in each book. I love how she takes on challenges head on. Myron is hilarious and I can't wait to see what he will do next.

Well, I finished this volume of the Morganville Vampires which contained book five and six, and it was pretty interesting and got me reading pretty much straight through, wondering what was going to happen next especially with the ending in book five I just had to keep going onto six without stopping and glad I did. And let me tell you I couldn't put it down until I was entirely finished with the book.
Book five picks up right where book four left off with Bishop taking over and burning Morganville, and basically the whole city is in utter chaos as the two vampire heads (Bishop and Amelie) battle for control of the town, and it was nuts with everything going on.
All the main characters have different assigned jobs that are given to them by Amelie that they have to do causing everyone to say goodbye (not knowing if they will come back alive and see each other again)and split up. Claire goes with Amelie in hopes of rescuing Myrnin from the clutches of Bishop so they use the portal in order to go find him. There are some tense moments during the entire journey dark tunnels, meeting a family of vampire with the head vampire being Theo and just other obstacles, but eventually they do find Myrnin and Claire goes to set him free while Amelie stands guard. At first it is easy since no one is guarding Myrnin then things shift and take a turn for the worst with Myrnin going back into his crazy, hungry vampire state that nearly attacks and kills Hannah (the woman that is sent with Claire in order to protect her) and Claire too so Claire is forced to stake Myrnin so he can't either of them, causing him to become unconscious and dead weight they have to now carry. And once they do that the find Bishop is outside and is fighting with Amelie with Amelie basically trapped from the fight. So, Claire has to take Myrnin away and leave Amelie to the hands of Bishop (Even though she really didn't want to), but her first priority was getting Myrnin out, and so she does and gets him to safety and medicated and unstaked with the help of Oliver. And Myrnin wants to go help Amelie after he is lucid again while Oliver does not. And thus they are all stuck at Common Grounds, Oliver's coffee shop.
The next morning they leave to deliver radio to allies to keep information flowing around Morganville, and find something strange a bunch of abandoned vampire cars with no one in sight like the vampires just vanished. While delivering the radios, they find at one persons house (Lisa Day) that she is keeping hostage a bunch of vampires, saying it was time that the humans take over the town again, and Claire warns her that this is not the way. After they leave, they inform Oliver and go on their merry way.
Then later on they see a vampire, who is cop, walking in the sunlight completely dazed and just walking straight ahead, ignoring the fact that he is burning in the sunlight that is killing him. Claire tries to stop him, but he is unreachable and she can't snap him out of as he continues to walk. Eventually he collapses and catches on fire and dies.
They find when they go to the university that Michael is acting the same way, completely in a trance, ignoring everyone including Eve to stop him from going out into the sun to burn to death so they have to lock him up just to make sure that he doesn't go anywhere and get killed by the hot suns rays, and funnily all the other vampires are doing the same that Michael was doing so they had to be locked up too.
After that's all settled and they report back to Common Ground, which is completely empty of all vampires with glass broken like they were trying to get out. Claire finds that Eve's suddenly missing, and has no idea where she went, adding to her panic state, but returns to the Glass house where she is finally reunited with Shane, who is pretty much unscathed. And with Shane's help, they decide to go find Eve back at Common Ground. They find that Eve has left them a trail of mints in which they are to follow to her location, and figure out that she's at a tire plant (Eve texted the details to Claire). So, they go there while Claire reluctantly waits in the care where she sees more trouble when Monica, mean girl, is chased by an angry mob, calling her a vampire sympathizer, and they want to kill her, but Claire does not let that happen and gives Monica safety in the car as the mob chasing them down the street. Not having any further choice, they go into the plant to be protected from the mob. They come across a bunch of vampire looking people that are completely in a daze coming after them in full force, but Myrnin pops up and saves them, telling her that these creepy people where his failed experiments, which horrifies Claire, but doesn't say too much. She's just happy she found Eve, who followed Myrnin to that spot.
They go home. They talk, try to relax, Claire and Shane make out, though Shane calls a halt when things get too heated, still not willing to take it further than that, but he does tell Claire for the first time that he loves her (aww), and she says it back with more making out ensuing before Shane leaves before he does break his promise.
Vampires are still missing, and a few have been killed by humans. And they decide to go see Michael, who is now find with no pull of walking into the sun (which happens to be Amelie's call to her vampires to assemble an army) while Sam is frantic to get to Amelie because he loves her so, and so when he is released from his jail he does exactly that.
More crazy stuff happens along the way from finding refuge for Theo and his family, to Myrnin telling Claire that he needs to cure and she needs to talk to their doctor friend, to not able to trust the police because they didn't know if they were on Bishop's side or not. Claire sees the doctor who says he needs more of Bishop's blood in order to provide the cure to all vampires. Monica is getting picked on in school getting a taste of her own medicine. A tornado is coming to town while the sighting of Frank Collins, Shane's dad is reported, which angers Michael because Shane knew Frank was coming to town and didn't warn him so they have a fight as do Claire and Shane with Claire threatening to leave the house, but doesn't after Shane apologizes and gives her a beautiful silver cross to protect her. Peace doesn't last long because Oliver shows up through the portal hurt by silver and very weak.
And during all this confusion to help Claire is grabbed by Jason, who ties her up and Ysandre is waiting for her. Ysandre bites Claire, but gets a taste full of medal from the cross she's wearing then Amelie saves Claire and tells her to get all people out of the shelter of City Hall because a battle between her and Bishop is about to commence.
So, she gets back to the Glass house and tells her friends what's going on. She tries to warn City Hall, but its no use so they decide to go there. On the way, they run into Frank Collins, who tries to stop them but is relieved that Shane's alive, and they get away and get to City Hall to get people out. Claire comes into contact with Bishop and his vampire buddy, who bites Claire after ripping her cross off. She comes to to worried friends then the tornado decides to come and rips City Hall to shreds while they are all inside with a vampire battle brewing down below, but Myrnin saves them.
They rest then go through the portal again to act against Bishop with Myrnin having a plan, and this is the part of the book that shocked me the most was this ending, which made me want to keeping reading the next one. Myrnin takes Shane away from the group with vampires and humans descending on them with Michael following suit, being controlled by Bishop now from the bite on his neck that he got in the battle then the portal opens again to see where Myrnin is holding down Shane in front of Bishop and about to give him the book with him suggesting that Bishop take Claire instead of Amelie, winning favor with Bishop. Shane tries to stop him, but doesn't succeed as Bishop marks Claire with a tattoo around her arm that controls her and gives her loyalty to Bishop (Shocking) even though she doesn't want to, even going so far as to say she doesn't care about her friends, but that's the tattoo talking. Bishop orders Eve to tell Amelie all that happened and what he took from her, taking control of the city. And that's how book five ends. Shocking right? So, I had to go on.
Book 6 begins months after book 5 takes place with Claire "celebrating" her 17th birthday. Myrnin is aligned with Bishop, Eve hates her, Michael's evil, Shane's in jail, and Claire is at Bishop's beckoned call, and Claire misses everyone terribly. Claire is desperate to see Shane, wanting to see if he is okay and asks Richard, new mayor, then Bishop. Bishop says he will if she delivers a death warrant to someone of her own free will, she agrees reluctantly if not Shane would die. So she does, having no choice.
So she goes to the jail, where Shane is housed with his father, with Myrnin keeping tabs on her. And this scene broke my heart a little I'll admit, just feeling the longing on the page from the way they touched each other to how they kissed, telling me it has been a long time since they've been in contact with one another. It was heartbreakingly sweet. And Shane even remembers her birthday, which is really sweet too, and I could tell he was really worried about her instead of himself. That's love. But it ends too quickly and they have to separate again with Shane vowing to see her again and they both would survive this in the end.
Myrnin pulls her away, and informs her that he is not on Bishop's side, and to prove it he takes her to Amelie, who is with a vampire army including Oliver. Claire figures out that Michael is not evil any more that Amelie claimed him back and is only playing the part. Claire is upset and wonders why Amelie hasn't been there all these months, helping, which she replies she is just getting her pawns in place, but becomes angry at Claire when Claire questions her integrity and how awfully she treats the humans like they are nothing, but object instead of people. So, Claire leaves with Myrnin.
They go to the Glass house, encountering an angry Eve, calling Claire a traitor, but they soon make up. They go to the doctor, and try to come up with a plan to get Bishop's blood, but the only way to do that is to poison him in order to get the blood from him otherwise it would be no good. Myrnin shows Ada, who controls the portals of Morganville and some of the magic around there, and how to work her so Claire would know if need be. Michael comes to see her and reassure that all is well, glad to see he is okay. She meets this guy named, Dean, who says he knows Shane and is friends with his dad, promising to protect Shane for him.
Theo then meets with Claire, hoping to convince her to leave with her friends and family with his family, knowing its not safe for her any longer (though the power of tattoo is fading). Before she could answer Bishop's goons burst in and take Claire to see him. Bishop takes Shane and Frank from their cell with Michael watching along with Claire as Bishop turns Frank into a vampire much to Shane's horror.
Michael takes them home, Shane upset, and tells them that turning Frank into a vampire was a test for him to see if he was still under Bishop's control.
He leaves Shane and Claire alone, Shane devastated while Claire tries to comfort him. There's a little misunderstanding with Claire thinking Shane doesn't want her, but he does. They kiss and things do get heated between them, but this time Shane doesn't stop, taking her to her bedroom so they could be together with Claire giving him the all clear. Though not graphic, the scene was very sweet, and I could feel that their first time together was full of love and caring that anyone would want for their first time. A testament to their love. He even tells her he loves her before anything begins, and I could feel the afterglow come off the page as they lie in each others arms afterwards. It was a perfect moment between the two of them.
Richard is trying to bus people out of the area, knowing a big fight is ahead with Bishop calling a town meeting for all. Claire's parents get passage on the bus while Claire along with the others stay behind.
Myrnin collapses along the way and Claire tries to get help, and Amelie takes him to safety along with the doctor. After awhile Claire sees the doctor and saves him from the newly cured vampires, but not before she runs into Frank, who tries to kill her, but snaps out of it at the last minute. Franks says he loves his son and that he is glad that he has her before disappearing down the hall.
Jason get captured by Amelie, who knows how to use the portal because Sam taught him so he could get away from danger, and is brought to refuge to the Glass house.
They all go to the Founder's Square and are promptly separated, and then the action really begins. Bishop is very angry. Myrnin comes up directly to Bishop, acting drunk, but come to find out he has been poisoned, hoping Bishop would drink from him and he would be out of it, and Bishop figures this out and stops him. Amelie and Sam are dragged out with silver chains with Oliver holding onto the chain, capturing her, seemingly working for Bishop, who thinks he won. Amelie's love for Sam apparent and fighting breaks loose. Bishop then becomes weak and unstable, he has been poisoned by drinking Sam's blood and killing Sam, which made me cry a little not expecting that at all. They get the book from Bishop and bind him with Amelie's chains, Oliver lets her go while Amelie leans over Sam's body declaring her love for him. Myrnin get the antidote to the poison, who was poisoned as well as Amelie then bites Bishop so he can get the blood from him, but before capturing Bishop disappears into the portal and the gang follow him. There's a chase with Bishop trying to take the book from Claire, but she doesn't allow it and runs, and goes to burn the pages, but not before Bishop confronts her and Myrnin sets fire to Bishop and bites him in order to get his blood, and infects Bishop with the disease that has been plaguing the vampires.
Sam's funeral happens a few days later with Amelie, saying how much she loved him, and how she planned on making some changes to Morganville. I don't know why the book didn't end here because it could have in my opinion, but it continued on with four weeks going by and the town getting back to normal and was peaceful with humans no longer treated like walking blood banks anymore. Monica comes by and saying that Claire and Shane won't last forever because things could happen, which scares me to hear because that could possibly happen in the next few book and I don't want to see that happen. Anyway, Claire leaves and runs into Dean, who attacks her and winds up, along with a reluctant Jason, trying to drain her of all blood and kill her, which he has done to other woman in the past, and is very much a murder with Jason taking the heat for him even though all he did was watch, which does make him guilty but he didn't kill them. Dean planed to blame Claire's murder on the vampires in hopes that humans would start killing vampires again. But before he can finish the job, Frank saves her and takes him away in the portal Dean and Amelie and Oliver take her away and to the hospital.
At the hospital everyone is gathered by her bedside with everyone telling her to rest. When Claire and Shane are alone, he blames himself for not being there for her, but she disagrees. She panics for a second, thinking what Monica said about him not being with her forever, but he reassures her that he will be. Shane gives her a stake so she can protect herself, Amelie allowing humans to use them now in self-defense. Then, surprisingly, he pulls out a small velvet box and set it on her pillow, which makes her catch her breath. She asks what it is and he replies its for later (engagement ring perhaps? Hope so, glad to know he's thinking of the future if that is what is. I guess you find that out later on). Then he kisses her and Claire is happy for the moment and that's end of the book.
I'm glad it ended that way instead of with a cliffhanger like the other books did and I don't feel like I have to go out right away and pick up the seven book to read right away. I can take a little break from the Morganville Vampire series for a little while, and I need to. After all I read four of these books back to back in only two days and that's a lot. But I kind of needed to since the ending were so open ended like I said and I felt compelled to read them. And though I am curious to see what happens next, I'm in no great rush to. Besides I'm little scared what will happen next. After all Bishop isn't dead, I can't see him out of commission for too long before figuring something out, and I could just imagine him going after Claire. I'm also scared because I have feeling that something will separate Claire and Shane in the upcoming books, and I don't want that at all. They are so perfect for one another and sweet and they need each other and now that they are finally together I just want them to be left alone and enjoy their time together, which is all that they want. And also I'm kind of afraid of anymore characters dying. Sam was bad enough because for one I didn't see it coming and two I didn't want him to die. He was such a nice guy and he deserved to be happy and to be with the woman that he loved, but he never got that chance and he waited so long for it, but Amelie just never seemed interested, even though she was and in love with but she never let him know because she was concentrating ruling the town and trying to care too much because she saw that was a weakness, though I think she regrets it now. There's just so many things that could happen that I don't want to see happen. There are still a lot books left in the series and its not even finished yet. There will be 15 in the series and I'm up to 6 so it just makes me really nervous of where this series is in fact heading. In my opinion the series could end at 6 and I would be completely happy because it is a satisfying ending with everything seeming to get resolved and everyone ending up with they were suppose to so I think this series could be finished.
But I might read the rest sometime in the future, but just right now I think I'm going to take a little break from the series and read something else. I need to. This was just so much going on with twist and turns that I need for it all to sink in with everything that happened. So, overall I liked what I read so far, not quite in love with it, but I did find these two books that I just read better than the other ones with many twists and suspenseful plot points to it. Happy I read them now, and will see if I continue on to the rest of the series or if I'll be satisfied with the series that I end my journey here, which I did find enjoyable.

While delivering the radios, they find at one persons house (Lisa Day) that she is keeping hostage a bunch of vampires, saying it was time that the humans take over the town again, and Claire warns her that this is not the way. After they leave, they inform Oliver and go on their merry way.
Then later on they see a vampire, who is cop, walking in the sunlight completely dazed and just walking straight ahead, ignoring the fact that he is burning in the sunlight that is killing him. Claire tries to stop him, but he is unreachable and she can't snap him out of as he continues to walk. Eventually he collapses and catches on fire and dies.
They find when they go to the university that Michael is acting the same way, completely in a trance, ignoring everyone including Eve to stop him from going out into the sun to burn to death so they have to lock him up just to make sure that he doesn't go anywhere and get killed by the hot suns rays, and funnily all the other vampires are doing the same that Michael was doing so they had to be locked up too.
After that's all settled and they report back to Common Ground, which is completely empty of all vampires with glass broken like they were trying to get out. Claire finds that Eve's suddenly missing, and has no idea where she went, adding to her panic state, but returns to the Glass house where she is finally reunited with Shane, who is pretty much unscathed. And with Shane's help, they decide to go find Eve back at Common Ground. They find that Eve has left them a trail of mints in which they are to follow to her location, and figure out that she's at a tire plant (Eve texted the details to Claire). So, they go there while Claire reluctantly waits in the care where she sees more trouble when Monica, mean girl, is chased by an angry mob, calling her a vampire sympathizer, and they want to kill her, but Claire does not let that happen and gives Monica safety in the car as the mob chasing them down the street. Not having any further choice, they go into the plant to be protected from the mob. They come across a bunch of vampire looking people that are completely in a daze coming after them in full force, but Myrnin pops up and saves them, telling her that these creepy people where his failed experiments, which horrifies Claire, but doesn't say too much. She's just happy she found Eve, who followed Myrnin to that spot.
They go home. They talk, try to relax, Claire and Shane make out, though Shane calls a halt when things get too heated, still not willing to take it further than that, but he does tell Claire for the first time that he loves her (aww), and she says it back with more making out ensuing before Shane leaves before he does break his promise.
Vampires are still missing, and a few have been killed by humans. And they decide to go see Michael, who is now find with no pull of walking into the sun (which happens to be Amelie's call to her vampires to assemble an army) while Sam is frantic to get to Amelie because he loves her so, and so when he is released from his jail he does exactly that.
More crazy stuff happens along the way from finding refuge for Theo and his family, to Myrnin telling Claire that he needs to cure and she needs to talk to their doctor friend, to not able to trust the police because they didn't know if they were on Bishop's side or not. Claire sees the doctor who says he needs more of Bishop's blood in order to provide the cure to all vampires. Monica is getting picked on in school getting a taste of her own medicine. A tornado is coming to town while the sighting of Frank Collins, Shane's dad is reported, which angers Michael because Shane knew Frank was coming to town and didn't warn him so they have a fight as do Claire and Shane with Claire threatening to leave the house, but doesn't after Shane apologizes and gives her a beautiful silver cross to protect her. Peace doesn't last long because Oliver shows up through the portal hurt by silver and very weak.
And during all this confusion to help Claire is grabbed by Jason, who ties her up and Ysandre is waiting for her. Ysandre bites Claire, but gets a taste full of medal from the cross she's wearing then Amelie saves Claire and tells her to get all people out of the shelter of City Hall because a battle between her and Bishop is about to commence.
So, she gets back to the Glass house and tells her friends what's going on. She tries to warn City Hall, but its no use so they decide to go there. On the way, they run into Frank Collins, who tries to stop them but is relieved that Shane's alive, and they get away and get to City Hall to get people out. Claire comes into contact with Bishop and his vampire buddy, who bites Claire after ripping her cross off. She comes to to worried friends then the tornado decides to come and rips City Hall to shreds while they are all inside with a vampire battle brewing down below, but Myrnin saves them.
They rest then go through the portal again to act against Bishop with Myrnin having a plan, and this is the part of the book that shocked me the most was this ending, which made me want to keeping reading the next one. Myrnin takes Shane away from the group with vampires and humans descending on them with Michael following suit, being controlled by Bishop now from the bite on his neck that he got in the battle then the portal opens again to see where Myrnin is holding down Shane in front of Bishop and about to give him the book with him suggesting that Bishop take Claire instead of Amelie, winning favor with Bishop. Shane tries to stop him, but doesn't succeed as Bishop marks Claire with a tattoo around her arm that controls her and gives her loyalty to Bishop (Shocking) even though she doesn't want to, even going so far as to say she doesn't care about her friends, but that's the tattoo talking. Bishop orders Eve to tell Amelie all that happened and what he took from her, taking control of the city. And that's how book five ends. Shocking right? So, I had to go on.
Book 6 begins months after book 5 takes place with Claire "celebrating" her 17th birthday. Myrnin is aligned with Bishop, Eve hates her, Michael's evil, Shane's in jail, and Claire is at Bishop's beckoned call, and Claire misses everyone terribly. Claire is desperate to see Shane, wanting to see if he is okay and asks Richard, new mayor, then Bishop. Bishop says he will if she delivers a death warrant to someone of her own free will, she agrees reluctantly if not Shane would die. So she does, having no choice.
So she goes to the jail, where Shane is housed with his father, with Myrnin keeping tabs on her. And this scene broke my heart a little I'll admit, just feeling the longing on the page from the way they touched each other to how they kissed, telling me it has been a long time since they've been in contact with one another. It was heartbreakingly sweet. And Shane even remembers her birthday, which is really sweet too, and I could tell he was really worried about her instead of himself. That's love. But it ends too quickly and they have to separate again with Shane vowing to see her again and they both would survive this in the end.
Myrnin pulls her away, and informs her that he is not on Bishop's side, and to prove it he takes her to Amelie, who is with a vampire army including Oliver. Claire figures out that Michael is not evil any more that Amelie claimed him back and is only playing the part. Claire is upset and wonders why Amelie hasn't been there all these months, helping, which she replies she is just getting her pawns in place, but becomes angry at Claire when Claire questions her integrity and how awfully she treats the humans like they are nothing, but object instead of people. So, Claire leaves with Myrnin.
They go to the Glass house, encountering an angry Eve, calling Claire a traitor, but they soon make up. They go to the doctor, and try to come up with a plan to get Bishop's blood, but the only way to do that is to poison him in order to get the blood from him otherwise it would be no good. Myrnin shows Ada, who controls the portals of Morganville and some of the magic around there, and how to work her so Claire would know if need be. Michael comes to see her and reassure that all is well, glad to see he is okay. She meets this guy named, Dean, who says he knows Shane and is friends with his dad, promising to protect Shane for him.
Theo then meets with Claire, hoping to convince her to leave with her friends and family with his family, knowing its not safe for her any longer (though the power of tattoo is fading). Before she could answer Bishop's goons burst in and take Claire to see him. Bishop takes Shane and Frank from their cell with Michael watching along with Claire as Bishop turns Frank into a vampire much to Shane's horror.
Michael takes them home, Shane upset, and tells them that turning Frank into a vampire was a test for him to see if he was still under Bishop's control.
He leaves Shane and Claire alone, Shane devastated while Claire tries to comfort him. There's a little misunderstanding with Claire thinking Shane doesn't want her, but he does. They kiss and things do get heated between them, but this time Shane doesn't stop, taking her to her bedroom so they could be together with Claire giving him the all clear. Though not graphic, the scene was very sweet, and I could feel that their first time together was full of love and caring that anyone would want for their first time. A testament to their love. He even tells her he loves her before anything begins, and I could feel the afterglow come off the page as they lie in each others arms afterwards. It was a perfect moment between the two of them.
Richard is trying to bus people out of the area, knowing a big fight is ahead with Bishop calling a town meeting for all. Claire's parents get passage on the bus while Claire along with the others stay behind.
Myrnin collapses along the way and Claire tries to get help, and Amelie takes him to safety along with the doctor. After awhile Claire sees the doctor and saves him from the newly cured vampires, but not before she runs into Frank, who tries to kill her, but snaps out of it at the last minute. Franks says he loves his son and that he is glad that he has her before disappearing down the hall.
Jason get captured by Amelie, who knows how to use the portal because Sam taught him so he could get away from danger, and is brought to refuge to the Glass house.
They all go to the Founder's Square and are promptly separated, and then the action really begins. Bishop is very angry. Myrnin comes up directly to Bishop, acting drunk, but come to find out he has been poisoned, hoping Bishop would drink from him and he would be out of it, and Bishop figures this out and stops him. Amelie and Sam are dragged out with silver chains with Oliver holding onto the chain, capturing her, seemingly working for Bishop, who thinks he won. Amelie's love for Sam apparent and fighting breaks loose. Bishop then becomes weak and unstable, he has been poisoned by drinking Sam's blood and killing Sam, which made me cry a little not expecting that at all. They get the book from Bishop and bind him with Amelie's chains, Oliver lets her go while Amelie leans over Sam's body declaring her love for him. Myrnin get the antidote to the poison, who was poisoned as well as Amelie then bites Bishop so he can get the blood from him, but before capturing Bishop disappears into the portal and the gang follow him. There's a chase with Bishop trying to take the book from Claire, but she doesn't allow it and runs, and goes to burn the pages, but not before Bishop confronts her and Myrnin sets fire to Bishop and bites him in order to get his blood, and infects Bishop with the disease that has been plaguing the vampires.
Sam's funeral happens a few days later with Amelie, saying how much she loved him, and how she planned on making some changes to Morganville. I don't know why the book didn't end here because it could have in my opinion, but it continued on with four weeks going by and the town getting back to normal and was peaceful with humans no longer treated like walking blood banks anymore. Monica comes by and saying that Claire and Shane won't last forever because things could happen, which scares me to hear because that could possibly happen in the next few book and I don't want to see that happen. Anyway, Claire leaves and runs into Dean, who attacks her and winds up, along with a reluctant Jason, trying to drain her of all blood and kill her, which he has done to other woman in the past, and is very much a murder with Jason taking the heat for him even though all he did was watch, which does make him guilty but he didn't kill them. Dean planed to blame Claire's murder on the vampires in hopes that humans would start killing vampires again. But before he can finish the job, Frank saves her and takes him away in the portal Dean and Amelie and Oliver take her away and to the hospital.
At the hospital everyone is gathered by her bedside with everyone telling her to rest. When Claire and Shane are alone, he blames himself for not being there for her, but she disagrees. She panics for a second, thinking what Monica said about him not being with her forever, but he reassures her that he will be. Shane gives her a stake so she can protect herself, Amelie allowing humans to use them now in self-defense. Then, surprisingly, he pulls out a small velvet box and set it on her pillow, which makes her catch her breath. She asks what it is and he replies its for later (engagement ring perhaps? Hope so, glad to know he's thinking of the future if that is what is. I guess you find that out later on). Then he kisses her and Claire is happy for the moment and that's end of the book.
I'm glad it ended that way instead of with a cliffhanger like the other books did and I don't feel like I have to go out right away and pick up the seven book to read right away. I can take a little break from the Morganville Vampire series for a little while, and I need to. After all I read four of these books back to back in only two days and that's a lot. But I kind of needed to since the ending were so open ended like I said and I felt compelled to read them. And though I am curious to see what happens next, I'm in no great rush to. Besides I'm little scared what will happen next. After all Bishop isn't dead, I can't see him out of commission for too long before figuring something out, and I could just imagine him going after Claire. I'm also scared because I have feeling that something will separate Claire and Shane in the upcoming books, and I don't want that at all. They are so perfect for one another and sweet and they need each other and now that they are finally together I just want them to be left alone and enjoy their time together, which is all that they want. And also I'm kind of afraid of anymore characters dying. Sam was bad enough because for one I didn't see it coming and two I didn't want him to die. He was such a nice guy and he deserved to be happy and to be with the woman that he loved, but he never got that chance and he waited so long for it, but Amelie just never seemed interested, even though she was and in love with but she never let him know because she was concentrating ruling the town and trying to care too much because she saw that was a weakness, though I think she regrets it now. There's just so many things that could happen that I don't want to see happen. There are still a lot books left in the series and its not even finished yet. There will be 15 in the series and I'm up to 6 so it just makes me really nervous of where this series is in fact heading. In my opinion the series could end at 6 and I would be completely happy because it is a satisfying ending with everything seeming to get resolved and everyone ending up with they were suppose to so I think this series could be finished.
But I might read the rest sometime in the future, but just right now I think I'm going to take a little break from the series and read something else. I need to. This was just so much going on with twist and turns that I need for it all to sink in with everything that happened. So, overall I liked what I read so far, not quite in love with it, but I did find these two books that I just read better than the other ones with many twists and suspenseful plot points to it. Happy I read them now, and will see if I continue on to the rest of the series or if I'll be satisfied with the series that I end my journey here, which I did find enjoyable.

I love Rachel Caine's adult UF Weather Wardens series and its spin-off, Outcast Season. Her writing is snappy, thrilling fast-moving and completely compelling. So I was expecting a bad-ass lioness like WW's Joanne Baldwin, but the heroine of The Morganville Vampires, Claire Danvers, is a mouse who doesn't realize she's actually a kitten. Thankfully, by the end of book 6, she finally wises up to the fact that she is really a feline with claws and takes a few swipes with them. If the rest of the books continue to improve her character, she might end up, at best, a housecat. Hopefully an outdoor one who isn't scared of her own shadow 🙄
Like Jo, Claire does have a protective personality and will go to any lengths to save her friends, her loved ones, and the odd town in which she lives. But unlike Jo, she's essentially helpless in the usual way, lacking physical prowess or any magical talents. Although super book smart, she's not at all street smart and she continually makes well meaning but stupid decisions, often trusting the wrong people and not following her own instincts or asking enough questions.
I don't usually read YA, but picked this up because I love Rachel Caine's writing and because it was set on a college campus, not in a high school. But it might as well be. Claire is so smart that she's two years younger than everybody else; 16 going on 17 for the first five books, and only turning 17 in the 6th. She is also petite and fragile looking and gets bullied by the popular clique, led by nemesis Monica Morrell and her minions, and is constantly underestimated by everyone around her, especially the ancient vampires that run the town, as Patrons to the humans.
If I were 15 years younger reading this 10 years ago when it was first published and Twilight was all the rage, I'm sure I would have connected with it better. My major problem is that although Caine's writing is competent and compelling, the story is very slow to move along. It's a mindless read that I kept picking up and putting down but at the end of it all there seemed little substance.
Six books in and there's still no clear explanation of why Morganville is the way it is or where the vampires came from, and I expect that these revelations are being saved for the dramatic, multi-character perspective ending but it is hard to stay interested or feel invested in the power dynamics in the meantime, not knowing any of the background between the vampires.
The highlights of this series so far:
1. The strong friendships between the four residents of the Glass House: Michael Glass, Eve Rosser, Shane Collins and Claire Danvers, and the protective house itself;
2. The sweet, believable relationship between Claire and Shane, and the way that their feelings grow steadily stronger amid the chaos of Morganville, and
3. The vampire Myrnin. Introduced in book 3, Midnight Alley, it is no spoiler to say that his character is the best thing in Morganville and he steals nearly every scene he's in. If I keep reading this story, it will mostly be to discover who Myrnin truly is and how he fares.
Unfortunately, I have not warmed to Claire. She is too passive. While it is refreshing to follow a truly nice girl who finds herself unexpectedly in a supernatural world, there is a difference between being a good girl and being a doormat. Her interactions with Monica are especially problematic. Since book 6, Carpe Corpus appears to be a turning point in the series, I find Claire's new sass and confidence appealing and I hope that she continues to turn into the woman she wants to be, which will have to include finally standing up to her ridiculously overprotective parents.
Also, the other characters are lacking in depth as well. Eve, Claire's insta-best-friend, is a Goth pixie with a tragic past that is not discussed. Michael is a handsome, musically gifted enigma. And Shane, who has enough Daddy issues to keep him in therapy for life, is sitting on a deep (but merited) rage that constantly threatens to erupt. Claire loves science. And Shane. That's about it.
And the vampires? The vampires are more annoying than scary.
Overall, I am disappointed that this was not the snappy, fast-paced story that I was expecting. But I may try to find the rest of the series to see how it all ends, and if all these wild goose chases that mire the characters deeper in bizarre vamp politics and history they don't understand actually leads somewhere meaningful.

The story focuses mainly on Claire, who is now 17-years-old, while she is trying to survive in vampiretown Texas. This does continue the plot in book 1 thru 4 so its best to read them in order.
As this is a volume, it does have 2 books in one, so I am trying not to spoil either one when typing up this review.
The Lord of Misrule: 3.5 stars
Slow to start as it recapped the previous books. I did appreciate the recap because I did take a break between Vol 2 and Vol 3 so I did forget somethings but there was still a lot of time spent on how young the FMC was which bothered me. The lore and magic system was still really well and while I love the realism in this series, I probably could have gone without the romance. There were times the FMC focuses on how hot a lot of the people she has around her are but then she mentions how she only has eyes for her boyfriend. Seemed a little weird. Besides that I love the plot and can't wait to keep reading this series
Carpe Corpus: 3.5 stars, 1 spicy?
This one was pretty fun but there was still annoying with the constant mentioning of Claire's age mixed with constantly keeping her in the dark the majority of the book. I get it that it fit into the plot but it still felt like it was easier to come up with an excuse why she wasn't included rather than just explain lore and provide information to the reader. Also slight warning/spoiler there is teen intimacy in this book but it is keep closed door and only for those that are over the age of 17.
While is is a good YA book, I would say that this book was more flirting with the line of YA and New Adult. It is also still hard to follow. It is written in the 3rd person with the main focus being on Claire. Unfortunately, since its written in 3rd person, it misses some details like time changes and main characters feelings or internal thoughts. The books are action-packed and can be quick reads.

This volume holds two installments of the Morganville Vampire series: Lord of Misrule and Carpe Corpus. I loved both!
You never guess what could happen next in Morganville. Both stories are chock full of action, chaos, character development, and really good story telling.

Again it was an easy read, but kind of ended with a happy ending so I'm curious to see what in store for the Morganville Vampires, next. LIKE WHAT POSSIBLY SHIT SHOW COULD THEY COME UP WITH NEXT!

This is Volume 3 of Rachel Caine’s Morganville Vampire series. This volume includes the 5th and 6th books of the series: Lord of Misrule and Carpe Corpus. I enjoyed reading both books and really like the whole series thus far.
“Lord of Misrule” begins where “Feast of Fools” (Book 4) ended; Amelie is not surrendering her power over Morganville and her father, Mr. Bishop, is further plotting against her. The town is divided and not just vampire against human. It’s a division that has vampires turning against one another; some siding with Amelie, some siding with Mr. Bishop, and others wanting to remain in hiding. It also has humans dividing, which has some turning again Claire and associates because of who they support. When the showdown comes to a breaking point there is also a natural disaster threatening the entire town. Who is going to survive and who isn’t? Only time will tell but will Claire and her friends come to the rescue and if so, will it be in time to save the town; both humans and vampires?
In “Carpe Corpus,” Morganville has been taken over and now being ruled by Mr. Bishop. The Glass House occupants are scattered all over Morganville. Claire is living across town in another Founders house with her parents; Shane is imprisoned in the middle of town with his father, Frank; Michael has allied himself with Mr. Bishop; and Eve is at the Glass House trying to maintain it.
Claire, who turns 17 in this book, is in service to Mr. Bishop, delivering his messages to others across town—including warrants for death. I like seeing Claire on the other side of the fence this time around. It gives the book/series a little bit of oomph. Myrnin also appears to be part of Mr. Bishop’s court. But there’s more to the vampires than meets the eye. Amelie plots her way back to the top while Claire continues to find the cure for the dementia-causing disease plaguing all of the vampires except Mr. Bishop. If all of that wasn’t enough, we are introduced to Ada, Myrnin’s hybrid computer. She is the machine that Myrnin created to maintain the force fields around the town and enables the various portals.
Really looking forward to the next book in the series (once it comes into the library for me)—I know I won’t be disappointed.
As from my Vol.1 review: The entire human population of the town lives in fear of the creatures that stalk them; some of them can even be out during the day. Leaving the town is possible but not advisable as the vampires can do some interesting mind tricks to you to make you forget the town—BUT—if you ever start remembering anything while outside the bounds of Morganville, they will hunt you down and destroy you.
According to the author’s website, these books are suitable for Young Adults ages 13 and up, but be warned that there is mild swearing.

The Morganville Vampires, Volume 3 RATING: 3 stars, almost 3.5 except I was really annoyed in some parts.
This book (which is actually two books, "Lord of Misrule" and "Carpe Corpus") neatly wraps up the current story 'arc' in the Morganville vampire series.In book 4 (or if you want to be technical, at the end of book 3), Mr. Bishop, Amelie's vampire (and apparently real as well) father appeared in Morganville for reasons mostly unknown (still) and promptly started to create havoc. He dethroned Amelie and turned Morganville into a mini-dictatorship.
These books, just like the first four are consistently ok-ish. Which should be a deterrent for me to keep buying the rest of the series. But somehow it isn't. That is mostly because while Caine likes to make readers think they have bought a full novel when in fact they've bought a short-story, she does know how to write a book in a way that will keep you hooked. She has, for the lack of a better word or expression, a great sense of pacing. Her books may lack content, proper character, story and world development but they are very (and I mean very) well paced.
That is the series' strongest point. As for characters? Still mostly walking clichés and not nearly as well developed as they should be by book 6 in a series. Some of them were so stereotypical I just had to roll my eyes at them... like Mr Bishop... he was a "mwahaha, I'm so evil" sort of villain. No depth.The story was stretched by six books when it could have been told in two (or for marketing reasons... make it a trilogy).The world building is weak at best, with many questions still unanswered and some inconsistencies popping up from book to book. Like, at first Amelie was the oldest vampire in the book/world and then Mr Bishop appeared out of nowhere and he is possibly the oldest... the justification for this was murky at best but mostly, just plain unbelievable.
Overall, this series is, as I said before, consistently mediocre. Which isn't very flattering. But! But it's one of those series that will keep you reading because the pacing is great, the writing is good enough and the core idea is interesting... and you're always hoping the author finally develops her world and explains things. Recommended for light, beach reading. Not the best YA series ever, but I've read worse. It's... ok.

This Volume contains books 5-6 from the Morganville Vampire series.
"Lord of Misrule" in this book Claire has to obey Bishop or everyone she cares about dies. Vampires start walking during daylight, some of them die, and they can't find an explanation for it. Now Claire doesn't know in who to trust because everyone is turning against her. *spoilers alert* When Claire follows Myrnin with Michael to go save Amelie well it turns out it was a trap by Myrnin for Bishop to get to Claire and capture Michael(all the vampires they were like robots).
To be honest i do not remember if is in this book or Cape Corpus but *spoilers* Bishop bites Claire.
So many ups and down it is amazing how plot is thought. Just love this book.
"Cape Corpus" is full of action, so many thing happening.Shane's father get what he hated the most in his life (vampires) with no choice but to work with them. *spoilers* Now something to make everyone happy Claire and Shane finally given in to their "needs" and love each other to the fullest (so happy, had to read few time couldn't believe it finally happen). The final battle between Amelie and Bishop it will be at the 'costume party' where Bishop had invited the hall town. Vampires came in each with a human pet. Well at least we find out who is on what side. Even Claire parents were invited so she can be a "good girl" for Bishop.
This volume is just amazing is so full of surprises, action and less love the only parts is just once with Shane and Claire.

Carpe Corpus
The best vampire series around, Morganville Vampires is far from cliché. One thing I love about this series is that Rachel Caine is NOT afraid to hurt her characters (in the first book, Claire is pushed down some stairs). Although this series is probably in my top 10, I rarely just sit down and read through more than one of them at a time. That stops now, I hope…
Anyways, this book was just as great, if not better, then all its predecessors. I was a bit disappointed that Claire was kept out of the loop for a good chunk of it, and let a few tears escape when Sam died. Sam was, after all, one of my favorite characters. Other favorites:
Myrnin: Probably one of the funniest characters in YA lit (Spoiler: He isn’t actually evil!)
Shane: How could I not like Shane (Spoiler: His dad becomes a vamp.)
Michael: Again, how could I not like him (Spoiler: Isn’t controlled by Bishop)
Oliver: He’s just so cool! And evil. Definitely evil. (Something to Ponder: Is Oliver a traitor to Amelie?)
Sam: Just a great guy (Spoiler: Dies…well, I gues he was already dead, but he dies for good.)

Okay, so now we start with books 5 and 6.
Lord of Misrule - Bishop has arrived and I'm ready for him to leave. As I'm sure the residents of Morganville are as well. Not a bad read, moves at a good enough pace to keep you interested. I'm still not connecting with Claire, but for the most part the rest of the main characters are pretty awesome.
Carpe Corpus - So, Eve, Shane, Michael and Claire are not living in the same house at the moment. It gets a little interesting that Claire's family has moved to Morganville and is living in one of the Founder houses. In order to survive, Claire is delivering messages for the devil (Bishop). This particular episode in this series, definitely is a good read, and I'm connecting a little better with Clair (finally).

So much love for this series. This has to be the fourth time through and I still get the same tingles and intense gut clenches. I've said it once and I'll say it again, Bishop is one of the greatest villains of this series. So brilliant and evil and hits right at the core of the town and its residents and leaders. unapologetic and merciless, I truly get some major chills with this vamp. He'd be a big bad for even Buffy if she rolled into this town.
Claire, as always, is brave courageous and while it can make her seem stupid, she's not alone. I love that. She's got some of the most amazing friends that always have her back and she theirs. This aside from Vol. 2 was action and emotional-packed. Left me holding my breath quite a few times. Utterly original and always on my reread list.

Lord of Misrule - 3 stars - This installment of the Morganville Vampire series is action packed, full of total chaos, dark, and crazy. It left readers with more questions then answers, along with a shocking cliffhanger. The series is really heating up!
Carpe Corpus -3 stars - This installment of the Morganville Vampire series has the air of change. A lot of things happen and are explained the more you read. The series (and its ratings) as a whole resembles a roller coaster ride. The characters are progressing nicely and becoming stronger, while still remain interesting. This book has some excitingly happy, intense, hold your breathe, sad, strange, and surprising moments. It really progressed half way through!

Love all the Morganville Vampire books. I have read them all so far. Been awhile since I read this one, but know I liked it. They get better the farther into them you get.

Life really went crazy on me, making it seem like it took forever to get through this book. Once I actually had some uninterrupted time to focus on it though, I flew through it. Very glad to see some real development with Claire and Shane. Also happy with Myrnin's developments. Interested to see if they do or say anything more with Bishop now that he is infected. Installing a new equality system will keep things up in the air and interesting for awhile if nothing else. Looking forward to the next set.

Nice! I like the finale of Bishop's story. Man - Ms. Caine throws you for a loop with the characters! I couldn't keep things straight! Is Myrnin good? bad? Is Oliver a traitor? Is he biding his time? I swore Jason was an evil guy...who would have thought? And Frank Collins...one character surprise after another. The only one who stayed true was Monica. haha
Can I say, I loved that Shane and Claire finally *ahem*. Those two have gone through so much...it was nice to see them take that next step. On to Books 7-8!
