When last we saw them, the Shluffmuffin twins were running for their lives. In this, the second installment, they run right into the arms of their long-lost father. But he's not quite as they remember him . . . Of course, who would be after a tragic Porta Potti accident? Instead, he has become something frightening, something far too horrifying to explain.
No, no, we can't do it, you'll just have to buck up and read the book yourself. When things get creepy, you try to cover your eyes, but you peek through anyway, don't you? Well, then, you'll get what you deserve--a laugh attack you'll never recover from. Serves you right.

This book was about Shluffmuffin twins Cheyenne and Wally. When they got out they found a ride with some scary guy named Verne on the highway back to the orphanage. They ran on an abandoned road trying to escape from Verne. Wally told Miss Hortense that there was some complication with the Onts. Miss Jolly betrayed the twins and called the Mandible sisters to tell them the kids were here. She felt bad and tried to help them out by hiding them when they were at the door. When the Mandible sisters were at the door looming over Miss Jolly was looking bigger and scarier than before. The Mandibles brought the adoption papers and a check for nine hundred dollars to adopt Wally and Cheyenne. Hortense brought the sister were they where hiding, but they weren't there. Then she saw them running to the bus. The bus left right before they could get to the bus. Wally and Cheyenne are soon on the run again with the Onts hot on their trail; the twins got off the bus in the middle of nowhere. Wally and Cheyenne stopped because they thought they lost them. They started reading a letter that the orphans wrote to them when they see a weird looking log. Before they knew it the log became alive and went straight after the twins. Wally jumped on it and told Cheyenne to run away. Cheyenne ran, and the alligator threw Wally out of the bite area. Wally got up and smelled chocolate in the middle of the swamp. They moved toward the smell of it, and they ground started sinking on them; they were in quicksand. When they got there the Mandible sisters were standing there. Then they started to take off all of the things that were hiding their ant-like figure. They ants spotted the brown paper bag, and they asked what was in it. One of the onts went to grab it, and Cheyenne threw it in the quicksand that the Onts didn't know about; they went to get and got stuck. Four days later Wally and Cheyenne were still lost in the swamp. They look up and see a zombie dragging himself toward them. The zombie saw them and started to wave at them. They twins screamed and ran in the opposite direction. The Mandible sisters went to file a missing person report to the cops. The giant spider went to Jolly Orphanage to adopt some kids. They have been lost for five whole days now. They see a dinner and went up there to eat. They ate some food but could not end up paying for the food. The owners made a deal and let them work to pay off the food. The owners like how they word, and they got hired to work there. Then one day the cops stopped at the dinner for some food and saw the twins there. They ran to the swamp, and the officers caught up to them. They twins meet Edgar and got away. They went back to Edgar’s house and went to get firewood when they ran into a leader of a wolf pack. The Wolf saw the zombie and fled. Then they see the zombie that look a little like their dad. Then the Mandible sisters were coming close to Edgar’s house. They found out that their dad was the zombie, but they were still orphans. Cheyenne is the twin who sees the best of every situation. Wally sees the bad side of everything. They are both ten years and old orphans. Cheyenne is the smarter one of the group, and when she was in the orphanage she read the encyclopedia. Wally a kid who doesn't listen to adults; when they talk to them if he thinks they are wrong. Wally tries to do everything his way and fights with his sister sometimes. They both agree with each other because the only thing they have is each other. In their whole experience so far the twins are getting closer with each other and are bonding with each other. The book drew me in in the first sentence. I recommend it to boy and girls. The ages of 12 and up. There are some thing that kids will not understand in this book. This book is very good. I really like it. I can’t wait to read another book like it. This book I very neat; so far in this book every page has action in it, and has really great endings.

This book is an amazing book. Funny Humorous and all of the above and keeps you on the edge of your seat for the next chapter. I find the shluffmuffin twins cute because they act like there friends no normal brother and sister fights.Instead of fighting they help each other through tough times.
This book was a good book. I really liked it. It has mythical creatures which I like a lot and it has kids who are just trying to survive. I am also happy because it has more than one book in this series.
Plot: In this book there are two kids; orphans is what you would call them because their mother died giving birth and their dad died in a terrible porti-potty accident and became a zombie. They were placed in the Jolly Days Orphanage where they would stay until they were trial adopted for a week by the Mandible Sisters who turn out to be giant ants! The ants used Cheyenne (who's allergic to everything). for her mucus and Wally for his stinky feet to feed their ant babies. Wally and Cheyenne escaped them and ran through the forest where the ants lived called Dripping Fang Forest, and got attacked by a ten-foot slug and talking wolves. They made it out alive and hitchted a ride from a guy named Verne who was messed up in the head. Then they ran back to the orphanage where they thought they were safe, but the Mandible Sisters came. The owner of Jolly Days told the sisters were to find the kids that where hiding in a closet. But they had moved and ran out the door onto a bus. Now they were hiding from the cops and the Mandible Sisters.
Characterization: Wally is ten years old and he has super stinky feet. He is pretty smart, but he thinks of everything in a bad way. Cheyenne, is ten and she is allergic to everything and looks at the good side of everything. I recommend this book to boys and girls ages 10 to about the age of 18. I think both genders of people would like this book because the two main characters are a boy and a girl, its not just a boy or not just a girl its both and its not in first person.

This was as good as the first book. The character development was good and the action was non-stop. I love the various monsters the children encounter. I look forward to reading book 3!
Having barely escaped from the Onts (really two giant ants who wanted to kill them), Wally and Cheyenne Shluffmuffin have no choice but to hitchhike their way back to Jolly Days Orphanage. After catching a ride with a truck driver who claims to keep a brain in his trunk, Wally and Cheyenne are happy to be back at Jolly Days but Hortense Jolly is less pleased to see them and rats them out to the Onts. Wally and Cheyenne are soon on the run again with the Onts hot on their trail. Wally and Cheyenne have to deal with getting lost in a swamp, quicksand, no food, police, and a giant spider. As if that wasn't enough, just why does that zombie look like their late father?
Taking place right after "The Onts", the first book in Dan Greenburg's Secrets of Dripping Fang series, ended, "Treachery and Betrayal at Jolly Days" is great fun. There's a nice sense of humor throughout the book which is full of odd ball characters like Verne the brain touting truck driver; Hortense Jolly; the Onts; the Zombie; a bus driver who insists on exact change because it's the law; the orphans of Jolly Days; and Edgar Spydelle who just happens to be married to a giant spider. There are also some laugh out loud gross moments, mostly dealing with the zombie. While this is a children's book and therefore most of the humor is aimed at children, there are also some especially funny moments that adults will love: the full page ad for the Jolly Days Orphanage that is in the yellow pages; policemen named Beckett and Kafka; and a small diner with an amazing menu that includes filet mignon and coq au vin. The illustrations by Scott Fischer are also very funny and readers should look closely at them for hidden jokes. At 124 pages, the book is just the right length for young readers.
"Treachery and Betrayal at Jolly Days" is jolly good fun.
this is another awesome book walley and chianne shluffmuffin have exscaped the mandibles and have met new friends along the way back to jolly days orphanage first they ran into a foot eating slug and chianne was about to have her feet eatin off but her brave bro walley saved her by telling her to putt salt inthe slugs eye which their grandmother had gavin her before she died. and later on in the story they run into man eating wolfs but escape in time tofind a cabin and the proffesser that lives there was nice enough to let them inside, although it was around one oclock in the morning but surprisingly him and his wife were awake. when the kids menchin food and how they would like an actuall meal to eat the professors gynormouse spider wife walks in with tea and scones and they run for their lives thats when they got back to jolly days and hortence turns them into the mandible sisters so they runfor lives again and escape in to a swamp with the mandibles on their tales read the book and find out how they return to mandibles house or escape the mandibles for good
not sure why i felt compelled to read the second book in this series. perhaps it appeals to the young readers it sees as its audience. i felt that the storyline was slight and there were a few too many “gross out” moments for me, but i’ll bet that upper elementary school boys would get a big kick out of it. basically, it’s the continuing story of orphans wally and cheyenne and their attempts to escape from the orphanage and from the giant ants who are trying to adopt them in a mad plot to take over the world. yeah.
This is really not my usual genre, but I picked it up on a whim at the library while looking for some new reading material for my students. I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed this little book about giant ants, zombies, orphans and spiders. I think my students will love this series. The plot moves quickly and the characters are interesting. It is not as frightening or grotesque as I expected it to be but was very funny.
Not QUITE as impressive as book 1, but still a lot of fun. This book picks up right where book 1 leaves off, after Wally and Cheyenne have escaped from Dripping Fang Forest (don't worry, they'll be back), and chronicles their journey to find safety from the Mandible sisters and a home of their own.
You know, this one just wasn't as funny as the last one. I think we'll still read the next one, but this one felt more metered and less entertaining. The kids didn't giggle nor beg me to keep reading because they were so engrossed. They still liked it, but it definitely wasn't as good as the first.
A continuation from book one. The Shluffmuffin kids meet some real winning characters. They come across a zombie that says something in his zombie language. The zombie turns out to be a realative. This is where things start to pick up and get really good. Read it to find out who the zombie is.
Poor Shluffmiffin twins! How could their orphanage director betray them to the Onts? Oh, yeah, the money $600--no, make that $900 with the generous Onts' bonus. Now they must figure out how to escape from them and from the zombie in the Ohio swamp.
Cheyenne and Wally nearly escaped the Onts having to hitchhike bake to Jolly Days is but somehow the Onts are going to be chasing them into Dripping Fang Forest? Hey and what is so important about the zombie on the front cover it just may be someone important in the story
The more I read of this series, the less I like it. It's turning into a total gross-out of the immature variety, stinky feet and snot and everything else you think of as gross at 10-years-old. I thought this series had potential with the first book, but I'm finished with this series now.
Surely not my first pick in YA but read it with one of my students! I must say it was well done and would be a hit for many kids! I can now say I read a zombie book and actually laughed along the way!
I like this book. It is out there, but in a good way. I really like this series it is very funny with a touch of supernatural. Good series, worth reading.
