This is a really excellent, easy to read, inviting book on getting started with home wine making. The author comes off as friendly and encouraging and is often quite funny - this is not some dry, technical instructional book. This gives a good, basic foundation of the subject, with lots of suggestions for how to further your interests once you are ready to move on to something more challenging. Lots of recipes, some of which are currently in the works (and untested as yet). Maybe after a few more batches of wine, or in a year or two, I'll get another winemaking book for comparison or further instruction, but for now I feel sufficiently equipped to get started!

A pleasure to read and incredibly useful in winemaking. I have made my first batch based entirely on this book's guidance, so far so good. The author is relaxed, brings enthusiasm to the hobby, and is very encouraging. In short, a must read for those interested in winemaking, fruit winemaking especially.

Terry writes a fun, easy-to-follow guide to demystify home winemaking and reduce some of the stigma that surrounds the craft as not being "true winemaking" if not made exclusively from wine grapes. While I would have preferred the analysis to be a bit more scientific, this is a good primer for the lay person

Excellent recipes! Fun to read. It has Gooseberry wine, prickly pear wine, and onion wine. These are all wines my grandmother used to make. It really is so much fun to read and yes, I did read the glossary....hahaha!!

I found this book for $6 at a book store closing sale. It's a fast, easy read explaining the basics of home wine making. The pros are it explains it in approachable and affordable wine making is. The downside is I have to wait almost a year before I can learn from the mistakes I'll inevitably have made in my first batch of cranberry apple wine...
