Emrick the shoemaker can barely afford food for himself and his wife, but they still give far more than they take. One day, Emrick's generosity compels him to trade a pair of his shoes for a beautiful woodlands painting. He hangs the curious work of art on the wall and goes to sleep hungry. The next morning, he awakens to find a beautifully-crafted pair of shoes resting upon his desk. Later that night, Emrick and his wife watch from the shadows as several tiny elves emerge from inside the magical painting!

17/12/2024 4 ⭐️ My mum used to read this story to me as a child and I’d almost forgotten about it until I found this little comic. I loved the artwork and it made me so happy to consume this story again.
I hate when the illustrator is not given credit on Goodreads. If I remember when I get back to my PC I’ll remedy that. Especially since Pedro Rodriguez’s art was the best thing about this plodding retelling. Despite a couple fun twists, this plot was a verbatim and ultimately boring retelling of a childish fairytale. I’d read more by the illustrator, he needs to find better authors to team with.
i never know what to call this ...i was using my local library leaning program ...i am reading through and ebrowser ...it is not a kindle version or other such version. i think it interesting how your brain pulls on items you have seen during your life (past or present) so i am seeing Star Wars characters ... a few cartoon characters i have seen etc. fun illustrations. neat read.
A cute, quick read with adorable art. I loved the colors and all the different designs for the shoes. This was a very nice way to revisit this fairytale.
[CHRONIQUE] http://pugoscope.fr/3976-les-lutins-e...
I just discovered Martin Powell's books and can't get enough. These books are extremely entertaining and well-written.
The Elves and the Shoemaker is a great addition to his collection of gems. When he's all done I hope someone will publish a collector's edition pack, I'll be the first one to pre-order it.
I loved this! My daughter read it. She loves graphic novels. She told me that I had to read this book. I'm glad she did. I love how the author made this Grimm Brothers' story accessible to kids. Love the pictures!
Oh my goodness. I really loved this. The story is the classic Grimm story. But the addition of the graphics is just phenomenal. It was fun reading it together with my boy.
