Got through 14 of the 16. Not sure how this got published. A few stories showed potential but the ones based on the best ideas were poorly developed. I will look for further work by none of the authors.
Well, I seriously thought this compilation of short stories would be a hit with me, as they were all about time-travel and alternate universes. However, it was only a small step up from Denise Little's Perchance to Dream. Half of the stories in this book were awesome; however the other half of the stories just sucked. I wish I had a less vulgar adjective, but I have to use the phrase "sucked", because it really did. My favorite stories were "The Ghost of the Garden Lounge", "The Last Vampire", "God's PDA", and "Chained". The worst stories were "The Righteous Path" and "Jesus H. Christ". The story about John Lennon called "Super Lamb Banana" was disappointing, mainly because I expected something more creative to come of it. I thought that after Lennon became a sculptor, he would have been the one to create the hideous sculpture. The better stories that I mentioned above left me wanting more in some cases. For example, in "Chained", I wanted to know more about the Items scattered around the earth!
I don't think I'm going to pursue obtaining any more anthologies by Denise Little. The stories are too hit and miss and the majority of them just suck.
In each of these short stories it feels like you are getting a dumbed down version of a real story. Like these are the abstracts in a scientific paper that gives you the gist of the paper.
There were only a few I really liked and wished could have been fleshed out more. The ghost of the garden lounge, the last vampire, god's PDA, chain, present perfect, and reboot. There was potential in these but they just fizzled out.
I finished the book only in hopes of finding something redeemable.
Lots of truly excellent stories in this collection - there were at least 2 that I'd previously read, but that doesn't bother me since they were each really good. This book is definitely a keeper for me and I know that I'll reread it in the future.
A decent collection of original stories, mostly about time travel with an alt-history twist. While several of the stories included here are less-than-memorable, a few do stand out, including "Black Armbands," "And the Wisdom to Know the Difference," and the humorous "Jesus H. Christ." Overall, more good stories than bad, so "Time After Time" isn't a waste of time.
Book of short stories involving time travel. Most I enjoyed, a few I thought were dull. The stories I liked the best... "The Last Vampire" and "Reboot"
