Despite its short length, this turned out to be an enjoyable, well written, Medieval thriller, with a good eye for period detail and intrigue.

The continuing adventures of Thomas as he tries to solidify his rule of Magnus. Again, clever thinking and determination achieve more than swords, but figures are starting to emerge from the shadows around Magnus and seem to be bound around a symbol. Don't expect anything to be finished, though, the series still has 4(ish?) more books about Thomas, so we still have a lot of mystery to resolve! However, the story does progress, so don't worry that this is a filler book, it isn't!
