This was such a great concept! I finished it within a day.
The only thing is that I got a bit confused because of the names. There's a Hallie and a Hailey. Also a Harry.
It's very creative but could've used a rewrite (but it's the authors first book and it's still really enjoyable).
I'm super excited for book two!

The first book to make my DNF shelf and write a review on. I was interested in the summary, but it was too frustrating to continue. The basic white names were very confusing to keep track of, and the grammar was all over the place.

I was especially bothered by the first page of the book. It sounds exactly like Percy Jackson & The Olympians: the Lightning Thief. The example is below.

Percy Jackson:
"Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood [...] My name is Percy Jackson."

The Six Olympians:
"Look, I didn't want to spend my Friday night [...] My name is Zach Hail."

I will not be picking up this book again or continuing the series due to the grammar and borderline copyright infringement.

I didn't go into this book expecting much so while it wasn't the best or while some things could've been written better, I had so much fun reading!

The pop culture references were top-tier. As a major potterhead, the Harry Potter scene made me way too happy.

I am a huge Hades-Persephone fan but I'd love to see how the Aubrey-Harry thing plays out given that this book changes the setting and how Greek mythologies were told.

Zack and Hailey come in a close second.

Danny is precious, love him for sticking with the group despite being normal(ish). Hope he doesn't become a traitor or die.

Finally, WHAT WAS THAT ENDING?? I need Book 2 yesterday please.

DNF. Made it 100 pages in. This book had a really interesting premise, but I just couldn't get past the grammar issues and the characters were boring.

I want to preface by saying that I did enjoy the plot and the concept behind the book, however I still believe the execution was not the best.

My biggest issue was that the book was very fast pace in way that things just weren’t coherent, it was hard to understand exactly what was going on 35% of the time. The events and battles were just too quick, you didn’t have time to realize what was happening before it was over. It felt like it was written quickly just to get to the next big plot point. It just missed the mark of being descriptive and detailed enough to clearly picture what we’re supposed to see.

The characters were very vanilla to me, there was nothing about a single character that really stood out or made me relate to them; their personalities were just lacking description, other than saying something about them being shy or smart. You’ll never read about how they act in a specific situation or read about ticks or habits they have to make them seem more alive and real. As well as the characters were confusing with the names. As much as I appreciate the cheat sheet with the names translated, I was still flipping back to it by the end of the book just to figure out who was who. There was just no emotional connection with the characters; even though we get their backstory and are told how they feel in certain moments; the writing just didn’t play more into the thoughts and actions of each character. The conflicts that each character were supposed to have in the beginning of the book to work through didn’t really exist and anytime there was a conflict it was quickly resolved, in a way that just isn’t real to real life.

The dialogue wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either, the conversations were rushed and I had a hard time figuring out who was talking or what the conversation was really about; however I did laugh at a few jokes.

Overall, would I reread or recommend? Short and simple answer No, I wouldn’t. However I am curious to see how the plot line continue and if the writing will improve over the next two books, so I’ll probably end up reading them anyways.

2.5☆. The premise is very interesting and new, but the execution was not all I hoped it would be though. Unfortunately, this read veeerrry YA. This was a very fast read, easy to understand even if you don’t know much about Greek mythology, and entertaining. I think I would have liked it more though, if I was in middle school, maybe early high school…

As someone who loved Percy Jackson when i was younger (and generally anything greek mythology) I did really want to like this book. I know the book started out on Wattpad, and it definitely reads like that!

It just felt very messy, with lots of grammar mistakes and a plot that moved way to fast to keep up with. There wasn’t much real scene setting or character building, it just seemed to jump between dramatic plot points without anything in between. It kind of felt like the author, or characters, were just telling you things rather than showing you. The pov switching was very confusing, especially since the characters didn’t feel very distinct and a lot had similar names (Hallie, Hailey, Hail). Even small things like kids who grew up in London calling the underground the subway or not having a visitors pass to get in the courts, made it feel under researched and unrealistic.

I did like the premise for this book, and how it still explained where Hades is, but I won’t be reading the next book.

I really liked this book. The whole idea behind it was so different from the other Greek mythology retellings that I read, and I loved it!
I wish it was just a tad be longer, or at least included a final chapter from Harry's POV but other than that, I can't wait to read the next one! Ps, Danny as the comedy relief was amazing.

I think this book was decent. It didn’t give me the “Harry Potter” or “hunger games” feeling I was hoping for. Seems targeted more for pre-teen/teenage readers.

I really loved the story! At first a little shocked by the relations between the gods but finally I am happy with them. Action and suspense all along. Can't wait to see what happens next!

Cute easy read! Having three characters with similar names, Harry, Hallie and Hailey got me mixed up in the beginning but I still enjoyed it! The book kinda made Poseidon a little () to me, but I’m looking forward to the next one!

DNF. I got the chapter 6 and couldn't take it anymore. First up, character names. I get they're named after god's, but the first letters don't have to match up when their names are SO CLOSE. We have Hallie and Hailey (who goes by Hales) and we have Harry and Zach Hail (who gets called Hail sometimes unless that was someone talking to Hailey). And sometimes the characters slip with their God names and 3 of them start with H. Can't keep them straight. That might seem like a minor inconvenience, but with a book solely focused on dialogue to move the plot (at least as far as I got), you have to know who is being spoken to/about. Very irritating. But not as irritating as the bickering. After so many immature "shut up NAME" I couldn't take much more. Then there was the countless "what do you mean?" or "what are you talking about?" or just "what?" Get to the point, man, the characters sound stupid and incapable of figuring things out on their own. As another reviewer stated, it spells out every single detail like word vomit. This is what this character looks like, this is what this one looks like. Here's this one's personality, this one is this way. Chop chop, laid on a plate for the reader.

Very disappointing. I really liked the premise of the book and I normally would be into these kind of books any day, but not this one. It’s just overall not good. Flat characters, infodumping in random conversations and everybody was so goddamn nonchalant about everything thing.
Every conversation was like something out of a badly written play.
From the beginning I wasn’t invested in any of the characters and till the end that didn’t change. It could have all been the same persons pov and you would not have noticed, because it didn’t matter. Everybody was too generic to even remember the name of anybody (the new names, the old ones were pretty selfexplanetory when you have a bit of context about greek mythology)
The book itself also contained a lot of grammatical errors and/or spelling errors. But on the bright side, the ending wasn’t too bad. But I will not keep reading the series, eventhough it ended on a cliffhanger
I really struggled even finishing this book, so I can’t imagine reading another one of this.

this book had so much potential as an idea but it’s so terribly written it actually made me laugh. it’s so obviously a wattpad book, it’s fast-paced to the point where i’m lost reading it, and don’t even get me started on the fact that she named two of her main characters HAILEY and HALLIE. also someone else’s last name is hail but he likes to call hailey “hales”???

that being said, it was really entertaining…… and i will definitely be reading the second book.

Didn't live up to the hype for me! The premise was up my alley, but I was let down. Poor character development and immature writing style-- it was like a reading a story from a middle schooler. I only finished it because I hate not finishing books!

“Little did i know, it would actually be the start of everything”
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

Would i recommend this book? yes.

This book caught my eye from numerous TikTok promos and honestly i was sold from the first one. I am a sucker for anything Greek Mythology especially to do with the Gods and the Titans.

Synopsis: what if the Titan Kronos hadn’t swallowed the Gods. And had banished them to Earth instead? Raised as regular orphans with scrambled memories. As soon as they hit their 16th birthday discrepancies about themselves and their real past start to bubble up. And abilities start to break through. They are suddenly made aware of who they are and the prophecy they are made for.

And if that doesn’t capture you’re attention then allow me to keep convincing you. Zack, Harry, Hailey, Aubrey, Peter and Hallie are some of the most well written characters i have read, they are real if that makes sense, they are flawed they moan they whinge they have real life problems (moving them being gods to the side). The storyline was captivating, plot twists had me throwing my book at one point and the ending… excuse me miss I’ll take book 2 now please thank you.
And if there was any doubt, i am routing for Harry who happens to be Hades ( are we shocked? No)
Seriously you guys dont want to miss this !

I really wanted to like this book. The plot summary sounded very exciting. I always love a spin on classic mythology. However, upon looking more into the book, the author revealed it was originally published on wattpad—but I did not want to let this deter me. It did read exactly like a wattpad story. It was clear the author had undergone no extra editing between the online publication and the in print version. While I tried very hard to just view the style as playful, it eventually became almost unreadable. The characters were flat and I won't even get started on the incestual romance plots. The POV shifts were simply confusing. I think the book would have benefitted from a third person narrator. The plot was absolutely action packed, but came to no resolution. I am assuming the author is setting it up for a sequel, but the place she chose to end this novel was quite strange. Overall, it was hard for me to get invested in the story and I do not think I will be sticking around for the sequel (which is out of the ordinary for me because I always finish a series, no matter how much I may dislike it).

I really wanted to like this book. The premise was right up my alley and I was really excited to read it. Unfortunately I don’t believe this story was ready to be published. It needed quite a bit more editing than it got.

The most noticeable flaw was the pacing. Everything felt too rushed. Events were pushed together giving the characters and more importantly, the reader no chance to breathe and absorb the plot. Even the plot itself felt like it happened over a too small timeframe for everything that was said to occur to be spaced out and natural felling.

Less obvious but more important though as I was reading I got the feeling that the author didn’t have a good idea of the voice of the story. By which I mean the emotions that the narrator was trying to convey by telling the story. In stories with multiple narrators who switch off one of the most important tasks of the writer is to find unique voices for each of them. Not only was there no cohesive emotion or intent throughout the story, I as the reader spent half the book wondering who ‘I’ was.

Overall I think this was an intriguing premise that could have been great had the book been overhauled before being published.

{No Spoilers! Dw :3} This book was amazing!!!! I gave it 4 stars because I felt as though the names were a bit difficult to understand. For Example: Hailey and Hailee! Though I learned to just pronounce them differently in my head as I was reading by the 5th chapter. Other than the problem with the names I thought this was an amazing read! I did look at other reviews and saw that they didn't like how the author executed the book. This did make me worry at first, but I realized I should just try it out for myself. And it wasn't as bad as the reviews said. Obviously, all writers write different so comparing Ms. Alarcon to other writers isn't very ideal. Because you should never do that! Just because the author may write similar or doesn't write like how you want it does not mean you should start comparing. But I will admit there was a few writing mistakes, or you couldn't tell who was talking at times. Also, many said she (or they) 'copied' Percy Jackson which yes, there were some parts where it was alike to Percy Jackson but there is a difference between copying and being inspired. I think the author was more inspired than rather copying but those are my thoughts, and everyone has their own opinion! And you may not even like this book and that's okay!

I bought this book based on the concept. I was really curious what the author would do with it and how she would deal with their powers, canon and the eventual war. Although I still think the concept is amazing, I have to admit that the execution wasn't as good as I had hoped it would be. That's mostly because all the characters sound as if they're still very young kids, while they're awakening as Gods and on the brink of overthrowing the titans. I'm also not entirely sure if giving all six Gods point of view chapters works out in the end. Since they all sound the same it's hard to keep track of who's talking and acting. It also makes it hard to really build a connection with any of them. Although, that's also because the book is a lot of tell and not much show.

If anyone knows of a book with the same sort of concept, please let me know. I refuse to give up on it, but the writing of this book doesn't work for me, unfortunately.

i wish i could rate this higher because i really liked the concept but the story telling could definitely use some work. This book definitely has potential and room for more adult themes which i wish were utilized. There were a lot of grammatical errors and spelling errors as well as repetitive uses of words and phrases. “smiled in awe" was used a lot and not always used correctly which bothered me a lot. Would love to work with the author because she seems so creative, just wish the writing part had a little more work.

i saw this book on tiktok on the authors page and decided to read it because it sounded good. the whole plot idea had really great potential, but the book was very shallow and the characters had no personality. i haven't read percy jackson but i have heard that some people think that much of her writing was taken from percy jackson. overall, the story could have been great but the author just isn't great yet!
