When Juliana's sister deceived him into betrothing her instead, Edouard became honor-bound to wed her; yet he still desires Juliana. Taking her in his arms, he vows to discover who would want her dead—and why. While riding to an important meeting on behalf of his ill father, Edouard must face Lord Geoffrey's enemies, who have returned to Moydenshire to destroy him. Taken prisoner and chained in a tower, Edouard must fight not only for his life but for Juliana's as well. When Juliana wakes, she has no memory of who she is or what happened to her. She only knows she's captive in a chamber alongside a man in chains who insists he knows her. For reasons unknown, her feelings for this stranger run strong. Were they once lovers, or is he a cold-blooded killer? Determined to regain her memories and know the truth, Lady Juliana discovers that nothing can vanquish love or the power of a knight's persuasion.

This was a rollickingly good read. An abundance of gentle humour, a good helping of evil, tension and action and above all, engaging characters. In some respects (and I mean this in a very complimentary way) it reminded me of Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves.

Tension, conflict, evil, romance - a great combination that kept me entertained throughtout the story.

A Knight’s Persuasion by Catherine Kean
Medieval Historical Romance – May 1st, 2010
5 Stars

A Knight’s Persuasion is the forth book in Catherine Kean’s Knight Series about medieval knights and the ladies that they fall for.

A Knight’s Persuasion tells the story of Edouard de Lanceau son of Moydenshire’s great Lord Geoffrey de Lanceau who while riding to an important meeting on behalf of his ill father, finds an unconscious woman lying in the river. He is shocked to discover its Lady Juliana de Greyne, the woman he was once almost betrothed to. Despite an unfortunate incident that put an end to any betrothal between the two families, he has never forgotten Lady Juliana. After finding her, he is compelled to protect her when they both are put in danger. His father’s enemies will do anything to destroy them and Edouard vows that he will do anything needed to protect Lady Juliana. The story includes a very interesting subplot involving Edouard’s father and his enemies led by a woman who was once his mistress but who now seeks to destroy him and all he holds dear.

Catherine Kean does a fabulous job of creating characters with an interesting and remarkable past which makes them fascinating to read about. Edouard and Lady Juliana are both characters that are both very attractive characters in heir own, but become even more compelling as they are forced together and must rely on each other for their very lives. I really liked how both Edouard and Lady Juliana experienced normal failures that made them more human and appealing to read. Edouard is someone I could easily relate to. I also enjoyed the subplot stories that involve Edouard’s father's enemies. These characters definitely had a past which made their lives a rich and multi-layered read.

One of the great things about Catherine Kean’s knight series is that they can all stand alone but if you want to increase your enjoyment you should read all the books in this series! For anyone who loves romance and enjoys a grand story involving exciting and well written historical elements you will love this latest novel in Catherine Kean’s knight series.

I needed a break and decided to read this. It went really fast. Edouard de Lanceau is the lead Male character. To me he seemed a little two dimensional. He had all the thoughts of Knight/warrior, but he was always so worried what his "Sire" would want from him. Maybe it is just the way things were. The constant talking in his head about what he really wanted battling what his Sire were confusing and not needed

Lady Juliana de Greyne, at first she comes off as the stuck up daughter of the Lord of the Manor. At firs she avoids Edouard at a feast thrown at her home. Her mother is ill after giving birth to a son who died as an infant. Juliana had had to prepare the child for his burial. Most of that was done by servants and not the family. Julianna is an artist and totes around her drawings in a leather bound pad. This is never developed. Her mother dies and nothing really seems to change.

The younger sister Nara is a spoiled jealous bitch. She talks bad about her sister to Edouard and belittles the artistic part of Juliana. She is the one that cause her sister to fall into a well and to damage the drawings. Then she leaves Edouard hanging as though he caused the while thing. Then later at another function celebrating the wedding of Juliana's close friend Mayda to a jerk. Edouard get drunk and goes out side to sober up a bit before he talks to Juliana again. Nara follows him and throws herself at him. You would think that Edouard who wants only to make his Sire happy would not allow himself caught making out with her. Soon Julianna and the new bride search Eduoard out so they can talk. They find him making out with Nara and he ends up betrothed to Nara.

Juliana witnesses the murder of her friend at the hands of her husband and is then attacked by him and his mistress. He ends up cracking her head open with the flat side of his sword and then the mistresse's thug drop her in the river. By all purposes she should be dead. But no on his way to talk with the new groom Eduorad find her still alive in the river but she is unable to remember anything.

Beside all of this the book did what I needed. It gave me an escape from things and cleared my head. I may or may not re-read this at a latter time

Edouard de Lanceau is the son of Lord Geoffrey de Lanceau. Juliana de Greyne is the daughter of Lord de Greyne. The fathers want a betrothal between Edouard and Juliana. They meet the first time at her father's keep, where Edouard saves Juliana after falling in a well. When he reveals a bet to kiss her, she doesn't believe a word Edouard says after the confession.

Several years later finds Juliana is a lady-in-waiting to her best friend, Mayda. She has given birth to a daughter and fears for them both. Mayda makes Juliana promise to protect her daughter, Rosemary, if something should befall her. Something does happen to Mayda and Juliana finds herself threatened by Geoffrey's old flame, Veronique, and her son, Tye.

When Edouard de Lanceau is on his way to Mayda and Landon's keep, he discovers Juliana de Greyne's body floating on the river bank. Finding her still alive, he takes her to Landon's keep, where they are captured by Veronique and Tye. Now that Veronique has Edouard, she sets her trap for Lord Geoffrey de Lanceau. Can Edouard and Juliana escape to warn his father? Is Rosemary alive and safe, or dead as is feared? Will Juliana and Edouard have a chance to find love, or will Veronique succeed in killing them both?

The characters are real and well drawn. The plot is familiar but with twists and turns to keep the reader interested. I felt drawn into the plot and the characters' lives. There is no cliffhanger in this story. I thoroughly enjoyed this medieval novel. I look forward to other books by Catherine Kean.

KNIGHT'S series. Book #4.

This book could be read as a stand alone, but to understand the reasons for the problems our hero and heroine face it oddest to read the earlier stories.

Edouard De Lanceau has been told he will be betrothed to Lady Juliana De Greyne, but things go disastrously at their first meeting. Edouard ends up betrothed to her flighty younger sister instead.
While on a mission for his father Edouard comes across Juliana badly wounded and half drowned. She has no memory of anything before he found her in the river. Edouard, unknowingly takes her to the worst place possible for help.
Waddesford keep has been taken over by a truly evil woman ,her adult son and their mercenaries. The woman is Veronique and she wants revenge and power. The Lord of the keep lusts after the woman, that leads to the downfall of all within.
Edouard is taken prisoner as soon as he enters Waddesford. Now he must try to escape and protect Juliana before Veronique and her son can put the lives of so many people in danger.

This is a beautiful historical romance. No sex scenes, but it doesn't need them to keep you reading. I have read all the previous stories and enjoyed them all. I have a feeling we are not quite done yet.

I was pleasantly surprised by how clean this medieval romance was. I would love to read the 3 books in series written before this one. This book does stand alone, so you don't have to read the others first. Veronique might be in the first, since it's Geoffrey's story z(Edouard's father). The author had just enough romance to keep it alive, and plenty of action, even while certain people were imprisoned. (Don't want to give away any parts of the story). I recommend this book wholeheartedly! Characters are real, they don't just think about sex through the whole book. They show courage, love, wit, and intelligence. This is a perfect medieval romance! My only complaint is the lack of description in the setting. But the plot more than makes up four that lack.

Lots of tension, my heart was pulled into this story! I liked the father/son interaction at the end of the book. I appreciated the heroine and the way she cared for other and weighed the words spoken to her whether considering if they were true before taking action.

Juliana just witnessed her best friend’s murder. Trying to escape with her friend’s daughter she was hit several times on the head and tossed into the river. Edouard found her in the river and unwittingly returned her to the people who tried to kill her. They were taken captive and were placed in the same cell. Edouard’s illegitimate half brother and his mother are the villains. This is another good book by Kean.

First book from this author and I’ll say is I can wait to read more. Secrets, murders, treachery, emotions and vengeance, fully engaging romance that takes two people that were betrothed and a mean little sister to cause Juliana and Edouard their courtship to render useless while little sister gets the gain by manipulating. Nara isn’t the only maniplating women in this story.

I read this as part of a boxed set and am now reading the others in the series. The romance was one of those start and stop things that get your heart going, and then kill it.

Edouard and Juliana are wonderful and their opening scene is just thrilling/terrifying.

Ibelieve this one is complicated

If you like love stories, clean and romantic. If you enjoy imagining how life was when there were Lords and Castles. And if you enjoy the sword fighting with vivid detail then you are going to like this novel as much as I did

review today is on the Medieval Romance, A Knight's Persuasion. This is book four in the Knight's Series. I really like Medieval Romance stories but so many are filled with a lot of sex. I suppose that happened back then but I don't like reading about graphic sex. This book has some talk about sex but doesn't have actual sex scenes. It's not a Christian story for those who follow me but it isn't offensive. It's well written and full of twists and turns. I really enjoyed this book.

In the spring of 1213 Edouard de Lanceau attends a feast to meet his soon to be betrothed. He has no desire to marry but the union will strengthen their holdings. Their meeting didn't go well and she was very angry and refused to speak with him. Her sister sets out to entrap him when he has had too much to drink. He finds himself betrothed to the sister while his heart longs for Juliana.

Juliana de Greyne is not thrilled about getting married. She must admit that Edouard is the best looking man she has ever met but he pushed her into a well. Yes, he rescued her but did that matter? Then she found he had a dare to kiss her. She is so hurt she refuses to speak with him.

In the late spring of 1214 Juliana is the Lady in Waiting for her best friend when she witnesses her murder. She is attacked and thrown into the river. Edouard finds her and brings her to the keep where she was injured. Then follos a horrifying journey as a mad woman is set on destruction. How can Edourad keep Juliana safe when she has lost all memory and they are both captured?
