Libro infantil interactivo. Cada capítulo corresponde a un misterio que el lector tiene que resolver con las pistas mostradas en ese capítulo.

I had never read this one of the series before, so I didn't have nostalgia associated with any of it. I still figured out all of the mysteries, but my daughter was also able to solve some with me.
The only one that didn't give all the pieces of information was the one about the autograph.

THIS EDITION is bad. The original version of the book is fully illustrated with cute line art of the characters in addition to drawings by the boy ("Hawkeye" Collins). This version made a terrible attempt to "update" the artwork with photographed models.

Just for the cover would have been one thing, but the way they did it is a problem, because the text specifies HAWKEYE WEARS GLASSES. The boy on the cover (and in the interior photo) does NOT. At LEAST give the model fake glasses, or change the text so he doesn't have the glasses!

There is also a case where a drawing of the suspects Hawkeye observed needs to be compared to a "photograph" of two suspects in a police photo. The drawn photo has been replaced with an actual photo... which makes sense in theory, BUT the models don't really look like the original suspects, so it's much less clear what the correct answer is. In addition, the original solution mentions a sticker that appears in the photograph that has been rotated in Hawkeye's drawing, but that doesn't appear in this version of the book!

The "updated" books (not this one) also include updates to Hawkeye's drawings that in a few cases make the case unsolvable, or at least unfairly difficult. One mentions a hidden message read along the folds of the paper... but the "folds" have been erased in the update!

I absolutely HATE this edition of the books. The original version was perfect(ish), and the updates are hamfisted and unnecessary. I could tolerate just an update to the cover, since that seems to be standard procedure for reprints. Updating the interior to the point of destroying the clues is sloppy at best, damaging to the franchise at worst. I imagine more than a few people have gotten ahold of this edition only and have been turned off by the difficulty, without understanding there's a fairer version available!

Series: Highly recommended. This edition: TRASH.

Otra serie clásica de mi infancia. Con siete u ocho casos por libro, leíamos una breve exposición sobre cada caso y se nos pedía averiguar por qué nuestros eficacísimos protagonistas llegaban a sus conclusiones. Uno de los alicientes de los libros era que las soluciones estaban escritas "reflejadas en un espejo" al final del libro, por lo que hacía falta un espejo para descifrarlas (también valía leer la página al contraluz).
En su día eran muy entretenidos. En la lectura de nostalgia que he hecho estos días veo que los casos son en su mayoría demasiado sencillos. Por ejemplo: en el caso del fraude del maratón, en el primer párrafo se nos dice que el atleta protagonista de la historia tiene un hermano gemelo. Ya en ese momento pensamos que no será tan obvio que el hermano le dé un relevo ilegal para ganar la carrera, pero eso es exactamente lo que ocurre y debemos descubrir.
Algo que sí considero que es una lección valiosísima es que a los largo de los cientos de casos resueltos los protagonistas nos enseñan a no fiarnos de la palabra o la autoridad de nadie, y a confiar en nuestras observaciones y nuestros métodos. Como Scooby Doo, que nos mostraba que siempre había una solución mundana a un aparente problema sobrenatural.
La redacción y el estilo son sorprendentemente buenos para la brevedad de las historias que contaban. Eran libros con los que se podía aprender a escribir y redactar. Para mi gusto, con todas sus carencias, es una grandísima serie.

Buku-buku M.Masters memang selalu menyenangkan untuk dibaca. Bahasanya ringan dan cocok untuk menjadi bacaan anak-anak. Di seri Detektif Cilik buku ketiga ini, M. Master juga menulis beberapa cerita lainnya; Penculik di Perkemahan Komputer, Kasus Maling Tomat, Misteri Penolong tak Dikenal, Kasus Penyelundup Video Game, Kasus Aneh di Jembatan Mill Creek, Teka-Teki tanda tangan pengarang, Misteri Perampokan Sewaktu Hujan Malam-Malam, Kasus Amuy yang Tahu-tahu lenyap, dan Rahasia Harta Kuno yang merupakan sambungan dari buku ke 2 Masters.

Hal menarik lainnya adalah, jawaban dari semua kasus yang Hawkeye dan Amy pecahkan itu ditulis secara terbalik. Saya masih ingat ketika saya pertama kali membaca buku ini (saat saya masih SD-kalau tidak salah), saya sering memakai kaca pembesar milik kakek saya hanya untuk meliat jawaban dair tiap kasus mereka. Ah, rereading this book defo brings the joys back!

Of course I love all these books...
And when I was reading it back then, I kinda hope someday Amy would be Hawkeye's girlfriend.
I know it's so lame, but just like I wanted Remington Stelle married Laura Holt, well I can always hope this one could make it too..

seri detektif pertama yang pernah saya baca. Hawkeye selalu menggambar petunjuk kasus dan jawabannya ada di belakang buku, terus jawaban harus dibaca pake cermin (yah dibaca dari halaman sebaliknya juga bisa sih)

I read these series (hawkeye and amy adams) when I was 9-11.
I was so curious to solve the mysteries using Hawkeye's sketches that contain important clues. At the end of the book, you can read the solutions in a mirror.

All of the books in this series were amazing, very good brain exercises for young people. Can't say much else, since it was ages ago that I read them.

My edition was a Spanish translation from Editorial Timun Mas, in which this is #9.

This was the BOMB back in the day. I was addicted to video games Nancy Drew and this book fed my reading addiction. Great mysteries with some nice 80's illustrations. I'm going to cry.

After reading the Encyclopedia Brown books, I found this series. I flew through them. I loved the use of pictures that Hawkeye drew to solve the mystery.
