Vielleicht erinnert sich noch so mancher an die langen Fernsehnachmittage in den 90er auf RTLII, ein Anime löste den anderen ab. Mein klarer Favorit damals: Jeanne, die Kamikaze Diebin. Heute stelle ich euch mal den 1 von 7 Mangas vor, auf denen der Anime beruhte. Die Mangas haben schon ein paar Jahre hinter sich, gehören aber zu den ganz großen und sind inzwischen in der 17. Auflage erschienen.
Hauptfigur ist Marron Kusakabe (16) - Mitglied im Gymastikverein, eine gute Schülerin, ein an sich herzensgutes Mädchen. Nachts verwandelt sie sich jedoch in Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne, eine Kunstdiebin. Sie „stiehlt“ wertvolle Gemälde. Bevor sie kommt, sich diese zu holen, verschickt sie immer ein kleines Kärtchen mit entsprechender Nachricht, die ich toll finde. Jedoch stiehlt sie die Gemälde nicht wirklich, sondern bannt die bösen Dämonen, die sich in diesen festgesetzt haben und nun von den Besitzern der Gemälde Besitz ergreifen. Der Teufel hat nämlich einen Weg gefunden, Gott zu schwächen, in dem seine Dämonen sich in schönen Bildern festsetzen und die reinen Herzen der Menschen zu stehlen. Die Folge wäre der Tod Gottes und jener der Menschheit. Als Jeanne jagt sie einen Pin in das jeweilige Gemälde, wodurch der Dämon gebannt wird und das Bild versiegelt; der Pin verwandelt sich anschließend in eine Schachfigur und wird eingesammelt. Marron kann als einzige nicht von einem Dämon befallen werden, obwohl sie reinen Herzens ist, da sie die Wiedergeburt Jeanne d’Arcs ist und somit göttliche Kraft in sich trägt. Diese ist es auch, die es ihr überhaupt ermöglicht die Dämonen zu bannen. Wie es sich für eine Kriegerin dieser Art gehört, hat sie auch einen Spruch, den sie bei jedem Einsatz aufsagt: „Im Namen Gottes banne ich dich. Schachmatt.“ Das Schachmatt bildet ein schönes Wortspiel, sind es ja Schachfiguren, in die sich der Pin mit dem gebannten Dämon verwandelt.
Marron verwandelt sich mit Hilfe eines handgroßen Kreuzes, das ihr einerseits auch die Pins zur Verfügung stellt und sie andererseits durch Piepen warnt, wenn ein Dämon in der Nähe ist.
Jene Menschen, denen das verfluchte Gemälde gehört, in dem ein Dämon wohnt, kehren ihren Charakter komplett um, sie werden herrisch, bösartig und gewalttätig. Durch die Bannung des Dämons finden sie zu sich selbst zurück. Das Gemälde selbst verschwindet mit dem Dämon und der Versiegelung des Kunstwerkes, daher auch die Bezeichnung Jeannes als Kunstdiebin. An dessen Stelle erscheint aber immer ein neues, wunderschönes Gemälde, das einen Engel zeigt. Wie man erfährt hat noch niemand der „Bestohlenen“ Anzeige erstattet. Trotzdem jagt die Polizei Jeanne erbarmungslos. Alles voran der Polizeichef und seine Tochter, Miyako. Diese ist zusätzlich Marrons beste Freundin. Natürlich weiß weder sie, noch sonst jemand von ihrem Geheimnis, dass sie Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne ist. Marron wohnt alleine (ihre Eltern sind im Ausland) gleich gegenüber von Miyako und ihrer Familie. Miyako ist laut, stark und eigensinnig. Sie ergänzt die stille, oftmals traurige Marron.
Marron hat noch eine zweite beste Freundin, die außer ihr aber niemand sehen kann. Den Grundengel Fynn Fish. Diese ist so eine Art Auftragsgeberin von Marron bzw. Jeanne und unterstützt sie im Kampf für Gott. Fynn ist etwa so groß wie ein Unterarm lang und fast immer gut drauf. Wenn sie mal böse ist, dann richtig. Sie erinnern mit ihrer Art ein wenig an Tinkerbell aus Peter Pan. Fynn ist es auch die Marrons Kreuz jene Energie zukommen lässt, die zur Verwandlung in Jeanne nötig ist.
Plötzlich geht es in der Geschichte aber drunter und drüber.
Ein weiterer Dieb taucht auf, der dieselbe Gabe wie Jeanne zu besitzen scheint. Er nennt sich Sindbad und fordert Jeanne zu einem Wettkampf heraus. Bei ihm der Schwarzengel Access Time. Dieser und Fynn scheinen sich zu kennen. Viel mehr erfährt man über Sindbad und Access aber im ersten Band noch nicht.
Auch Marrons Privatleben wird aufgemischt. Durch ihren neuen Nachbarn, Mitschüler und Playboy Chiaci. Bei ihrer ersten Begegnung verliebt sich Miyako Hals über Kopf in Chiaci, man sieht jedoch, wie sich auch Marron in ihn verguckt. Für Miyaka versucht sie ihn jedoch zu meiden, was ihr recht leicht fällt, nachdem Chiaci sie mehrmals blöd anmacht. Zugleich ist er aber unglaublich süß. Er versucht Marron aufzumuntern und ihr die Traurigkeit zu nehmen.
Auch Chiaci hat ein großes Geheimnis, er ist Sindbad. Und sein Ziel ist es, Jeanne aufzuhalten und zum Aufhören zu bewegen. Als Jeanne bei einem Raub in eine Falle gerät, ist es Sindbad der ihr gegen das Versprechen eines Wunsches hilft. Dieser Wunsch lautet, Jeanne möge mit dem Stehlen aufhören. Zuvor küsst er sie aber noch ;)
Weiter geht es dann mit Band 2 :)

Review for complete series
Although seemingly an ordinary girl, Maron lives a double life in which she goes out at night disguised as thief Jeanne to steal paintings. But Jeanne doesn't steal just any paintings - as the reincarnation of Joan of Arc, she only has her eyes set on paintings concealing demons sent by the devil. But it isn't long before the devil sends more than just demons to get in Jeanne's way - the thief Sinbad isn't far behind to try and steal the paintings from right under her nose.
Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne was my first manga and therefore holds an unshakeable place in my heart. I remember the times I watched it on TV, not really knowing what manga or anime was, and just utterly falling in love with Jeanne's violet eyes. It was only by chance that I came across the manga in a bookstore - that was the beginning of my manga collection which now, a decade later, would put most libraries to shame.
Of course, the biased and nostalgic me would say this is the greatest manga out there and it is absolutely flawless. Yet I also believe that there is no such thing as a flawless work. Reading it now is different from reading it years ago, but it is no less enjoyable. It stands out from other magical girl series in many ways!
For one thing, Maron and Jeanne look completely different - it always irks me how most magical girls are never recognized by other characters despite the obvious. Unfortunately, Sinbad can't boast the same, but at least he's got a mask and is found out quite early in the story. The concept of Joan of Arc's reincarnation, the demon-infested paintings, and the character's motivations strike me as much more plausible.
Tanemura's art style has always been a major point in her works - provided you like typical shoujo style. Fortunately, I've always liked the shoujo style and I think Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne is showing the author at her best. Although it isn't as refined as her later works, it has the most heart. The characters are adorable, believable and they feel. You can easily see Tanemura pouring her heart into this series while, in more recent ones, I always feel like she is just trying too hard.
The same holds true for the comedy. The humour in her older works has always been a major plus point for me. It is often very simple - just in the expressions characters make. I could never decide what I liked most about this series; the humour, the art, the characters, the emotion. Not to mention that this series also draws a heavy focus on friendship and family. Even side characters get their moments to shine.
Like any other serires, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne has its weak points and it won't be everyone's cup of tea. Yet I can't find it in my heart to point them out as I hold this series so dear, whatever flaws it holds now come to me as adorable absurdities.

I really liked the first volume of Full Moon O Sagashite, so I was pretty excited to read Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne. Sadly, it's just not up to the same standard. I understand that this is an earlier work, which explains so much. Like why the artwork, while pretty, isn't quite up to the quality of Full Moon. Or why I didn't find myself at all emotionally invested in the story. In the end, there was nothing that really made this stand apart from other books for me.

No words. Just beautiful. Amazing series and an amazing fantastic life I'd love to live. Beautiful, awesome and unique draw style...I'd spend hours and hours contemplating one single page.

The reason why I started reading Arina Tanemura's series was that I loved her drawings so much. I doubt I had many ways to choose what manga to pick up when I was 11...
Out of all of her works that I have read (and I read almost all of them...) this one was probably my favourite. But, like every other story of hers... while it has an amazing plot, its development is always too rushed and it goes all over the place... I could never really fully appreciate it. This was true ten years ago and is true now. Nonetheless, the story is enjoyable and Maron is probably my favourite of Tanemura's heroines.

Als Teenager habe ich damals einige Manga verschlungen und die Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne Serie war und ist meine Lieblingsmanga-Serie. Ich weiß nicht wie oft ich sie damals gelesen, aber so wie ich mich kenne sehr sehr oft. ;)
2018 habe ich mir deshalb vorgenommen die Reihe nochmals zu lesen, weils so schön war.
Zu allererst einmal liebe ich die Story mit Marron als Reinkarnation von Jeanne d'Arc. Ich glaube der Manga und auch der Anime haben bei mir das Interesse an der echten Jeanne d'Arc geweckt. Ich bin zwar alles andere als gläubig, aber die Person Jeanne d'Arc fasziniert mich einfach.
Da ich Animes und Mangas liebte bzw. liebe in denen junge Mädels gegen das Böse kämpfen (Sailor Moon oder Wedding Peach), war Jeanne natürlich auch ganz oben auf der Liste. Die Story aus Geschichte, Comedy, Freundschaft und Liebe ist einfach super.
Arina Tanemura, die Schöpferin von Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne, hat ein unglaubliches Talent. Ihre Figuren sind super gezeichnet und haben tolle Charaktereigenschaften.
Band 1 ist der Anfang der Serie und gibt einen Überblick über Marrons Leben und ihre Doppelrolle als Kaito Jeanne. Wir lernen ihre beste Freundin Miyako kennen, ihren Engel Fynn, ihren Schulkameraden Minzuki und natürlich den Playboy Chiaki, der eigentlich gar kein richtiger Playboy ist. Am Anfang mochte ich Chiaki so gar nicht, was sich aber von Kapitel zu Kapitel änderte.
Marron übt außerdem rhythmische Sportgymnastik aus!! Ich bin schon immer vorm turnen und der rhythmischen Sportgymnastik fasnziniert gewesen, vielleicht auch weil ich selber alles andere als sportlich bin. :D
Wenn ihr auf Shojo-Mangas steht und auf starke Mädels, die gegen das Böse kämpfen, dann ist Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne genau der richtige Manga für euch.

Compared to the other volumes of in the series, and especially with other series by Arina Tanemura, the first volume of Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne is a little sub-par. The story relies heavily on the usual magical girl cliches and tropes; the romance/love triangle between Miyako, Maron, and Chiaki is relatively uninteresting. Overall, there isn't much to make the story compelling or keep the reader emotionally invested; the one exception is the scene on the ferris wheel where Maron says that because her parents often fought, she didn't know what love was. This is the one scene that is both emotional and complex, offering intriguing character details about Maron as well as offering readers a connection to the story.
Other than that, the romance between Chiaki and Maron feels too obvious; also, as a reader, how am I supposed to take seriously the fact that Maron doesn't know Chiaki is Sinbad? They look exactly the same. Doesn't she recognize his voice? Or his looks? Anything? That's too much for me to buy.
In reading this, it reminded me a bit of D.N.Angel; fans of that may also appreciate this. I love Tanemura's art and I know that future books feature more depth and a better plot; stick with the series. It gets better!

Bir zamanlar televizyonlarda akşam olana kadar birbirini yiyen yarışmacılarla dolu yarışma programları ve duygu sömüren programlar yerine çizgi diziler/animeler/çocuklara yönelik yerli yabancı diziler gösterilirdi. Sabrina, Pokemon, Digimon, Sıdıka, Power Rangers, Fox Kids kuşağı...
Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne(Sevimli Hırsız) de bunlardan biriydi.
Çok severek izlerdim ve şimdi yıllar sonra mangasını okuyunca da beklediğimden çok hoşuma gitti. Çizimler, hikaye, karakterlerin derinliği... Aynı anda güldüren, düşündüren ve duygulandıran bir manga oldu. Anılarım canlanıp olumlu bir şekilde pekiştiler:) Devamını okumak için sabırsızlanıyorum:)

Back to my Arina Re-Read-A-Thon!
In which I re-read my Arina Tanemura Mangas to see if they still hold up, since they were a huge part of my pre-teen and teen years. So far, I have only done one shots and I guess I purposely avoided the series. I admit, I was a bit scared to get back into these. Part of me is afraid that I won’t love them the same I once did, but I guess there is only one way to find out so let’s get into it, shall we?
I grew up on Sailor Moon, so for the longest time, the Magical Girl Genre was one I immediately reached for. When Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne, the Anime, first aired on German TV I was totally mesmerized. It was completely different from Sailor Moon. The tone was more serious, it was darker and hey, finally a heroine who actually changed her appearance when she transformed!
Back in the day, I almost exclusively bought Mangas where I already knew and liked the Anime, I played it safe, so to speak, because Mangas were (and still are) relatively expensive. So, Jeanne ended up being one of the first series I bought and the second I ever completed (first one was Card Capture Sakura btw, I wasn’t kidding when I said I was super into Magical Girls).
It’s the story about Kusakabe Maron, a sixteen year old High School Student, who happens to be the reincarnation of legendary Jeanne D'Arc, who gets he mission to hunt down demons that manifest themselves in paintings, with the assistance of angel Finn Fish. Being deemed an art thief, she followed closely by the police, and her best friend Miyako, daughter of the chief of police, who tries to prove herself by capturing Jeanne. This series is about adventure, demon capturing, angels, the devil, thieves, friendship and romance! It has it all! And even if I’m not religious, I‘m not even bothered by the heavy religious undertones. Taking the story of Jeanne D'Arc and retelling her like this is actually quite interesting.
This first volume is obviously an introduction to world and characters. Thankfully it skips over the origin story however, and presents Maron already established as Jeanne instead of starting at the very beginning.
Maron is an interesting character. Kind and smart, a bit cocky, but deeply distrustful of people and dealing with abandonment issues. Chiaki is an enigma, wearing the facade of the playboy, but definitely hiding more layers to his personality. Their budding romance is actually one of the most intriguing elements of the series. Miyako is unfortunately as annoying as I remembered her and I doubt I will ever warm up to her. Didn’t like her then, don’t like her now. My favorite character has always been Chiaki‘s angel companion Access, who only has a small appearance in this first volume and I can’t wait for more of him and to see if he remains my favorite.
The artwork is obviously stunning. It’s probably the biggest draw in Arina has a mangaka, she is magnificent when it comes to this.
So far, so good. The first volume is still as much fun as I remembered it to be.
Back to my Arina Re-Read-A-Thon!
In which I re-read my Arina Tanemura Mangas to see if they still hold up, since they were a huge part of my pre-teen and teen years. So far, I have only done one shots and I guess I purposely avoided the series. I admit, I was a bit scared to get back into these. Part of me is afraid that I won’t love them the same I once did, but I guess there is only one way to find out so let’s get into it, shall we?
I grew up on Sailor Moon, so for the longest time, the Magical Girl Genre was one I immediately reached for. When Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne, the Anime, first aired on German TV I was totally mesmerized. It was completely different from Sailor Moon. The tone was more serious, it was darker and hey, finally a heroine who actually changed her appearance when she transformed!
Back in the day, I almost exclusively bought Mangas where I already knew and liked the Anime, I played it safe, so to speak, because Mangas were (and still are) relatively expensive. So, Jeanne ended up being one of the first series I bought and the second I ever completed (first one was Card Capture Sakura btw, I wasn’t kidding when I said I was super into Magical Girls).
It’s the story about Kusakabe Maron, a sixteen year old High School Student, who happens to be the reincarnation of legendary Jeanne D'Arc, who gets he mission to hunt down demons that manifest themselves in paintings, with the assistance of angel Finn Fish. Being deemed an art thief, she followed closely by the police, and her best friend Miyako, daughter of the chief of police, who tries to prove herself by capturing Jeanne. Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne ist für mich ein weiterer Einstieg in die Mangawelt und eine der schönsten Kindheitserinnerungen für mich. Diese siebenteilige Mangaserie wurde parallel zur TV-Serie Jeanne, die Kamikaze Diebin 2001 rausgebracht und weil ich diese Serie damals geliebt habe, erschien sie mir als passende Wahl um nach den Comics nun auch Mangas für mich zu entdecken.
Es geht um ein junges Mädchen namens Maron. Sie lebt alleine und hat nur ihre beste Freundin Miyako. Vorallem aber hat sie ein Geheimnis. Sie fängt im Namen des Herrn Dämonen, die sich in schöne Gegenstände eingenistet haben und die Seelen der Besitzer für sich haben wollen. Die Kraft des kleinen Engels Fynn, ihre ständige Begleiterin, gibt ihr die Kraft sich in Jeanne zu verwandeln und besondere Kräfte zu entfalten, womit es ihr leicht fällt die dämonenbesetzten Gegenstände zu stehlen, was die Polizei - angeführt von Miyako - zur Verzweiflung treibt.
Jeanne bleibt aber nicht lange alleine, denn ein anderer Dieb, der sich Sindbad nennt, fordert sie zu einem Spiel heraus.
Weil ich die Serie sogar noch heute in und auswenig kenne, dachte ich, die Geschichte würde mich nicht überraschen. Der Plan war etwas neues zu entdecken (Mangas), aber durch etwas vertrautes (Jeanne) besser reinzukommen. Die Zeichnerin und Autorin Arina Tanemura hat mir aber einen kleinen Strich durch die Rechnung gemacht und ein paar winzige Änderungen vorgenommen. Zum Beispiel die erste Begegnung mit Chaiki - dem neuen Nachbarn - wo Maron viel übertriebener reagiert, als ich die Geschichte kannte. Dadurch wurde auch die Freundschaft zwischen den beiden Mädchen ein kleines fitzelchen anders.
Es war zwar immer noch die Geschichte von Jeanne, aber meine Aufmerksamkeit war auf höchster Stufe und ich habe Jeanne nochmal neu kennen gelernt.
Die Entwicklung im Manga ist schneller als in der Serie und trotz so manch kleiner Umstellung hatte ich großen Spaß an Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne.

April 6, 2020No voy a poner puntuación porque esta es la segunda vez que lo leo después de bastantes años. Este fue el primer manga que leí en mi vida y tengo muy buenos recuerdos de él y la sensación de tener en mis manos un tomo de este género.
La relectura me ha hecho ver que he crecido y madurado mucho, aun cuando yo pensaba que no, y menos mal.
El estilo de dibujo de Arina Tanemura me sigue flipando muchísimo, y la trama está bastante bien, para todos los públicos. Sobre todo para preadolescentes y niñxs.
Es la típica historia de una heroína que se transforma y nos presenta la dicotomía bien/mal, con sus enemigos, sus obstáculos, el amor, amistad, y el autodescubrimiento. Tiene sus cositas, claro que sí, sobre todo cuando lo lees siendo "mayor", pero no quiero fijarme en eso por muchas razones, entre ellas la fecha de publicación (1998), y la familiaridad y nostalgia que a mí me transmite; es algo personal, nada objetivo. No quiero ni pretendo ser crítica con esta historia porque no está hecha para eso. A mí me sigue gustando.
Es un salto directo a la infancia, las historias de fantasía y heroínas como Sailor Moon, Doremi, Pichi Pichi Pitch, Pretty Cure... Quién se atrevería a decir algo malo de ellas. Yo, definitivamente, no me pondré en ese lugar, ni ahora ni nunca.

On the surface, the premise of this manga seems silly and dismissable; Maron is the reincarnation of Joan of Arc, and charged with the responsibility of sealing the demons who inhabit paintings to corrupt people's souls. But it's so much more than that.
For one, Maron's relationships with her friends and absent family prove a key point to the plot of this beautifully drawn manga. Her parents have been abroad for many years, and she awaits just one letter from them, to show her they're still thinking of her. Also, a rival is introduced early on in the story: Kaitou Sinbad, who has the same power to seal demons. At the same time as he shows up, a student transfers to her school, and, despite herself, she develops a crush on him.
I recommend this title for anyone who likes the magical girl genre of manga, or who has enjoyed Arina Tanemura's other works.

This was the first manga I ever read years ago and I like to read it once or twice every year, because it reminds me of my childhood.
It's still as cute as ever and Arina Tanemuras drawings are still one of my favourites. :)

I like this author’s manga because she’s art looks like sensitive and very rounded. It is the major one in shoujo manga maybe everyone know. The main attraction of it is the protagonist’s background and storyline. The most thing I feel good is the expression of the characters. I can feel real of character’s thinking so it is she’s art make us to imagine the scene.

It's been quite a while since I returned to this manga! Years ago I owned a copy of volume one that was much-loved by myself and several of my friends, only to later lose it when my parents sold off a bunch of my manga. I never quite forgot it however, and when I found the first volume on a recent trip to Half-Price Books, I couldn't resist picking it up again!
So this manga is about the reincarnation of Jeanne d'Arc in the modern-day, as young Maron Kusakabe. Guided by her guardian angel, Finn Fish (no, that IS her angel's actual name,) Maron moonlights as the phantom thief Kaito Jeanne, exorcising demons that lurk in paintings and feed off of humans. This first volume is an introduction to the major characters and how Jeanne's powers work, primarily. The fourth and final chapter of this volume leads off on a small cliffhanger indicating where the next volume might go with the story overall.
Generally I enjoy the story and the characters, though I feel like it tends to move very fast, and at times, can be very predictable. It's worth a read, though it isn't the first thing I'd recommend to most people, including those who enjoy a magical girl series. This might scratch that Cardcaptor Sakura itch though, if you need it!

This manga is about a girl who is the reincarnation of Joan of Arc. She hunts down demon-possessed paintings and gets rid of them.
Found this at my local library and thought it sounded pretty interesting. I was liking when I first started reading it, but it wasn't the best manga I'd ever read. However, later in the manga it does get much better and funnier as well. So, I kind of liked it. I'm not sure if I'd read the rest of the series.

Doch mit Kaito Sindbad hat sie einen Gegenspieler gefunden.
Der erste Band der Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne Reihe von Arina Tanemura hat mir wieder sehr gut gefallen!
Als Kind habe ich den Anime sehr geliebt und auch den Manga verschlungen! Nun war es an der Zeit die sieben Bände erneut zu lesen, worauf ich mich sehr gefreut habe!
Wir lernen die sechzehn Jahre alten Marron kennen, deren Eltern im Ausland leben und ihre Tochter zurückgelassen haben.
Sie lebt allein, aber im selben Wohnblock wie ihre beste Freundin Miyako Toudaiji und deren Eltern, die ein Auge auf Marron haben.
Mit Chiaki Nagoya zieht nebenan ein attraktiver junger Mann ein, der auf die gleiche Schule wie Marron und Miyako geht und beginnt, Marron zu umgarnen.
Marron ist nach außen eine glückliche und beliebte junge Frau. Sie ist fürsorglich und hilfsbereit, aber sie ist auch traurig und sehr einsam, da ihre Eltern sie verlassen haben und sich nicht bei ihr melden.
Mit dem kleinen Engel Fynn Fish hat sie Gesellschaft und Hilfe, denn in der Nacht verwandelt sich Marron in die Diebin Jeanne, die Wiedergeburt von Jeanne D'Arc, die Jagd auf Dämonen macht, die sich in Gemälden verstecken.
Aber mit Sindbad bekommt sie Konkurrenz und auch Miyako und deren Vater, der Polizist ist, sind eine Gefahr, denn sie möchten Jeanne unbedingt fangen.
Schon die ersten vier Kapitel haben mir wieder viel Spaß gemacht! Ich mag den Zeichenstil von Arina Tanemura und auch die Handlung sehr gerne!
An manchen Stellen ging es mir ein bisschen schnell und es hätte für mich auch ein wenig mehr in die Tiefe gehen dürfen, obwohl die Geschichte auch alles andere als oberflächlich ist, weil es auch einige sehr eindringliche Szenen gab.
Aber ich mag Marron und ihre Freunde echt gerne und so freue ich mich auf jeden Fall schon sehr auf den zweiten Band!

Marron Kusakabe besucht die Oberschule, liebt rhythmische Gymnastik und lebt allein in ihrer Wohnung - direkt gegenüber ihrer besten Freundin Miyako. Als die beiden eines Tages von der Schule kommen, werden sie von dem rüpelhaften Chiaki überrascht, der in das gleiche Haus gezogen ist, in dem auch die beiden Mädchen wohnen. Während Miyako sofort Feuer und Flamme ist, ist Marron eher weniger begeistert.
Marron hat nämlich ganz andere Sorgen. Nicht nur, dass ihre Eltern einfach verschwunden sind und sich nicht bei ihr melden... nein, sie ist dazu auserkoren mit Hilfe des Engels Finn Fish Dämonen zu jagen. Als Meisterdiebin Jeanne - die Reinkarnation von Jeanne D´Arc - bekämpft sie Dämonen, die sich in Kunstwerken eingenistet haben und somit die Kontrolle über deren Besitzer übernehmen. Wenn Marron aber diesen Dämon besiegt hat, so verschwindet mit ihm auch das Kunstwerk. Deshalb wird sie als Meisterdiebin von der Polizei gejagt. Besonders die Tochter des Polizeichefs hat es auf Jeanne abgesehen und das ist niemand anderes als Marrons beste Freundin Miyako.

Ach ich habe diesen Manga als Teenie absolut geliebt und immer und immer wieder gelesen. Er ist einfach nie langweilig geworden. Arina Tanemura hat mit der Storyline einfach eine absolute Glanzleistung hingelegt und dann auch noch diese wunderbaren Zeichnungen! Man kann sich einfach nicht satt sehen! Ich liebe diesen Manga absolut und kann ihn allen Mädchen empfehlen, die Magical Girls und Romantik lieben, denn davon bekommt ihr hier wirklich eine Menge geboten.

Arina Tanemura hat mit der Storyline einfach eine absolute Glanzleistung hingelegt und dann auch noch diese wunderbaren Zeichnungen! Man kann sich einfach nicht satt sehen! Ich liebe diesen Manga absolut und kann ihn allen Mädchen empfehlen, die Magical Girls und Romantik lieben, denn davon bekommt ihr hier wirklich eine Menge geboten.

Ooh this was so cute, and was giving me such nostalgic energy, even though I've never read it before, or watched the anime adaptation. I think that's just the magic of Arina Tanemura's style.
The idea of a magical girl type series, where the protagonist is considered to be a bad person that the police are trying to capture, is fresh (at least to me). It reminds me, only tangentially, of a lot of superhero media in the west (like Batman or Spiderman).
Maron, Chiaki, and her friends are pretty typical shoujo archetypes, but that's definitely not a bad thing. We have the charming, slightly pushy love interest; the overdramatic, little bit annoying, yet still likable bff; the guy who is dorky, and sweet, but will probably never stand a chance; and the protagonist, who is good and kind, stubborn, and fun.They're all silly, and over-the-top, but again I like that, and needed that kind of ridiculousness.
The art is si precious, but that's honestly to be expected at this point. Miss Tanemura never disappoints in that department.
I'm excited for the rest of the series, and even the anime afterwards.
