Picked up this book in preparation for my March cleanse. I have never done a juice fast, but thought it would be a good jumping off point for my spring cleanse. I already have all the equipment to do my own cleanse, so I bought this book. I did notice that some of the ingredients of the juices are not the same as the actual juices from Blue Print. I know enough about the real juices to take a guess about what was left out. My impression is that the juices in the book are close, but the juices from delivery will taste better unless you add ingredients to the recipes from the book. I did like recipes were provided for
before and after the juice cleanse. I think the cleanse is laid out in a very clear manner and the recipes are easy enough to follow. I also like the background about the ins and outs of the cleanse. Truth is, not everyone will like cleansing or feel it is necessary. For those that want to explore it, a juice cleanse is a MUCH better way to go than a fast. I didn’t mind the vegan angle, since I explore vegan foods often. I liked the list that was provided to help distinguish between actual detox symptoms and more serious symptoms, but I didn’t like the feeling that some symptoms were dismissed as detox symptoms rather lightly. Overall, I think this is a good, quick guide to help anyone understand the ins and outs of juice cleansing. Happy juicing!
In this day and age, everyone wants to look healthy, but also feel healthy. The 3-day cleanse can help you move in the right direction in your journey to clean, healthy living. Get hose toxins out of your body!!
The cleanse is said to give you more energy, clearer skin, a more focused mind and make you feel amazing. Amazing eh? By drinking juice.
The 3-Day Cleanse explains why you should cleanse. We eat a lot of junk; junk we can’t even pronounce. Have you read those ingredient labels lately? What goes in our bodies isn't as simple as it was centuries ago. It’s not just food, but also the air we breathe, and the water we drink.
The cleanse is built around fruit and vegetable juice. They do offer a Blue Print Cleanse program all over the country, but by using this book and a juicer, you can do the program at home. The book includes many recipes to cleanse for the long-term, as well as the 3 day cleanse program. You’ll feel better, you’ll look better, and you can do it relatively inexpensively, especially if you grow your own vegetables and fruits. Give it a try - you might be amazed!
From the front cover: Drink Fresh Juices, Eat Real Food, and Get Back into Your Skinny Jeans.
The book is divided into 2 sections. The first section describes why we need cleanses – the quality of the food we eat, the toxins that surround us, how our digestive system works, and the benefits of fasting and cleansing. It goes on to describe the 3 types of cleanses the authors recommend and how to prepare for them. It details the recommended food intake in the days leading up to the cleanse and the products you'll need (like a good juicer), as well as the foods you'll buy (organic of course), the benefits of the ingredients in the juices, the actual cleanse, and the follow up after the cleanse. There's no point in going through the trouble of ridding your body of the toxins, if you're going to start back up with the unhealthy habits again. Right? They don't leave anything out. All of your questions are answered. I promise.
The 2nd part includes the recipes. And they are YUMMY! Seriously. From soups to salads, dressings to snacks, and the main part – the juices.
This book really promotes a lifestyle change. The cleanse isn't a one-time thing. You'll end up repeating at least a portion of it on a weekly basis. But, what you won't get is the horrible side effects from the other cleanses which are just too extreme for the average person. Am I ready to try it? The truth? No. You've really got to be committed, and I'm not at that point yet. Do I believe in it? Absolutely! Cleanses work. You just need to find the right one for YOU. I can see this one being that “right one”. Just not yet.

Thanks to Anna at Hachette Book Group, I am giving away five copies of this book.
I was so impressed with this book that I went out the day I received it and bought a juicer! I won this book from a goodreads giveaway. I really wasn't sure what to think about it when I received it, but honestly I loved it - mind you, I haven't actually made any of the 'juices' yet. With many diet books I've read, there seems to be a trend to convincing you that 2 months, 3 weeks, 14 days, whatever isn't too much to dedicate to your diet. Yes, I agree. But when all your allowed to eat/drink on those is self gathered swamp greens and raw eggs, things seem not as easy. So yes, I did think 3 days wouldn't be horrific with this cleanse - not a diet. But the best part is, throughout the book, the author's say "hey, if you can only do one day, that's ok too - you'll notice a difference. If you want to do 10 days, that's ok too." Plus, the book pretty much assures you that there's no screwing up - that it's a cleanse and any bit helps. But also, it clearly states why and how each produce item will benefit which part or particular organ of your body. I'll let you know how the "juices" are.
I won this book through Goodreads First Reads. At first I was so excited. Yes! I won a book. Then I realized it was a diet book...oh. Anyway, I figured I would review it as a book primarily and then as a diet later.
The first couple of chapters were just basic scientific information on digestion, eating habits, and cleansing. It was written in a friendly and accessible style. The only time the authors get preachy is when discussing fasting. Other than that, they just say to do as much as you feel comfortable doing.
The book contains a pre-cleanse diet, the cleanse diet, post-cleanse diet, and a suggested diet for the rest of your life. There are also three different cleanse options to choose from depending on your current eating habits. While the authors do mention the juices they sell, they don't berate you into buying them. They simply mention them a couple of times. They give you the recipes needed to make the juices. There are about 78 pages of recipes that include salads, soups, main dishes, juices, snacks and many others. Overall, the book was well written.
I'm looking forward to trying it and updating my review.
The women behind the Blueprint Cleanse crafted this book, and having tried the Blueprint Cleanse once, I wanted to read the book. I wasn't disappointed with what they had to say.
The 3-Day Cleanse is full of useful, helpful, and easy to understand information that will make the reasons behind cleansing and its purposes clear for anyone.
They make it clear that this cleanse is not meant to be some kind of crazy fast that "normal" people can't adhere to. The information given proves that flushing the system is good for anyone and everyone can see the benefits afterward.
The recipes included for juices and easy meals are great. I've made at least half of the juices in the book, and they taste good, honestly. For skeptics, these juices do not taste like you've decided to eat your lawn or chew on tree bark. They're very good! They're also affordable to make. Unlike the Blueprint Cleanse, which is a bit expensive, these juices can be made at home for a reasonable price.
I would recommend this book to anyone who's interested in cleansing, in making homemade juices, or has ever tried a cleanse and hated it.
I enjoy reading books about health and nutrition; I really enjoyed the first half of the book - learning about the digestive process of different foods and so forth. I found it interesting to learn about their recommended detox plan.
However, I wanted to take the "quiz" to see what type of cleanse would suit me, but the numbers don't seem to add up correctly - there's something they've left out of the equation. I ended up with a number in the hundreds instead of double-digits. I double checked that I added it correctly, and I had. Really frustrating.
Also, I'm not sure that the recommended plan would be feasible for me unless I took a week off work and set aside money for a juicer.
Otherwise, I really like this book and would like to try at least a mini cleanse sometime.

I picked this book up a while back along with some other detox/cleanse books. A quick and decent resource for different cleanses with information about digestion and nutrition and guidelines for 1, 3, 5 & 10-day plans as well as suggestions for preparing for and maintenance after cleansing. The last part of the book is made up of 100 recipes for cleanse-friendly dishes--soups, salads, main dishes, juice blends, snacks, sauces and dressings, etc. I didn't follow a strict program but used this as one resource I made the Apple-Pear-Beet-Ginger Juice (good) and the Roasted Red Pepper Soup (really tasty). You can find the soup recipe and photos on my blog here: http://kahakaikitchen.blogspot.com/20...
I was excited when I got this book in the mail (giveaway winner). At first I thought this book wasn't going to be for me. I am a thin, athletic built. Once I really got into the book I changed my mind. You can cleanse and not to it to loose weight. I eat organic and this book had some good tips in it. I haven't tried the juices yet (waiting until summer when I am off work) but I can not wait to see how great I will feel after the cleanse. I really like how they have you fill out a survey to see which cleanse would be good for you. They even have meal plans. This book was very informative! A must read!
I have not been diligent about keeping up my goodreads status, but I'm am going to try to do better. As for this book, I finished it some time ago. I liked some of the juices and enjoyed getting into juicing. However,I found a discrepancy with the recipes almost immediately. One recipe at breakfast might yield 2 cups of juice, then you wait for the next juice, expecting to be filled again, only to find that the recipe only yielded 1/2 cup of juice. It was so inconsistent, that I could not stick with it. Maybe if you tried all of the juices and just did the best ones, you might be able to do a complete cleanse.
When Anna Balasi of Hachette was offering this book for review, I couldn't resist. I eat a better diet than the average North American. I am a vegan and eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables but I have been feeling kind of sluggish lately.
This book sub-titled, "Drink fresh juice, eat real food, and get back into your skinny jeans." It includes the basic information that you need to know about your body, how the cleanse works, and how to do it. It takes you step by step... read my full review here.
I did it! I got this book mainly to get some use out of a juicer my mother gave me, but ended up really enjoying the "fast". I did the beginner's "Renovation" cleanse. Day one was horrible, but it got (much!) better after that. The vegan agenda is much less heavy handed than the Skinny Bitch approach, but I didn't come away from this feeling as "refreshed" and "invigorated" as I hoped. Maybe I need to try one of the more difficult levels. Includes some great recipes that even passed the kid-test (yummy vegan cashew rosemary vinaigrette that I used on everything from roasted portabellas to red potatoes!) and got me using more kale and chard than ever before.
I really loved this book. It was informative without being too formal. It was very laid back but still got the point across. The authors did a great job of going step by step in the process of cleansing. My favorite features of the book are the delicious recipes as well as the client stories. Also, the book provides different levels of cleansing so there is something for everyone. I recommend this book if you are interested in cleansing for the first time or are a "seasoned cleansing veteran" it is very enlightening.
I have done the BluePrint Cleanse and it really is the only juice cleanse that I've been able to maintain for up to 6 days without getting hungry. I would do it so much more if it wasn't so expensive. I do believe juicing is good and healthy, but not a complete or sustainable diet. It's one of those yo-yo fads I couldn't hang on to for very long. But when I did it, I did manage to lose weight and feel great about myself. This book is a great addition to anyone who is starting out and needs basic 101 guidance.
This book is so fun and interesting! Of course I'll have to wait to try it because pregnancy and nursing won't correlate with this but maybe for Christmas I can get a juicer. Learned a lot about raw eating as well, which is something I have been curious about since being introduced to it by my cousin. Would recommend it to anyone looking to learn about cleanses and food!
As soon as I got this book in the mail my hubby grabbed it and ran. When I finally got a hold of it I needed it, we had just eaten at Golden Corral aka Hog Troth. We felt like Gluttons. We've done cleanses before and I did do a modified version of this. When my calms down I plan on diving into it full force. Great Book!!!
This is a great resource for learning about the cleansing process and how to make recipes. It was written by two women who have a fresh juice business and, while that's great, their products are not accessible enough to readers who might want to buy their juices that they are recommending, if you don't live close to New York City. Overall, great book.
I enjoyed this book! It was informative, well written and gave me insight into cleansing in general. Also, there are several recipes that I am looking forward to eating.
If anyone is thinking about doing a juice cleanse, this book is a great tool.
It makes sense to do this every once and a while, but the problem I have with juicing is that you're wasting a ton of fruits and veggies. Maybe you're getting a lot of nutrients that you wouldn't otherwise get, but what do you do with all the leftover pulp? Plus it's pretty time consuming.
Best nutrition book I have read. Truly made me think about food and gave me simple ways to make long healthy choices. Now. Seriously. The best -17dollars I have spent in a long time.
A guide to doing a blue print juice fast at home. Loong intro on topics like the full workings of digestion. The personal anecdotes and testimonials throughout were good.
