Man... talk about things getting real intense and even more emo :-( I actually teared up. There is one volume left to sort of wrap up each person's storyline. I'm wondering how that'll go. I find it especially strange there is only one volume left because Umino-san wrote "I'm going to keep going full power until the very end. I hope you'll stay with me." in her Umino and Her Fun Friends section. It sounded to me like she had more storyline to go. But there are only 4 chapters left. So I'm a little surprised.

One more volume to go :-( I'm sad to see it end. This is one of those rare occassions that the manga probably could have been longer. I don't often wish for that (usually I wish for the opposite), but with this series, I wish it would be just a few volumes longer. Maybe 13 or 14. Oh well.

Onto the last volume :-(

Storytelling: 9/10 – Wonderful script, well balanced, constantly evolving as a series.
Characters: 10/10 – An absolutely lovable cast that is wacky and down to earth at the same time, and gets analyzed through and through throughout the series.
Production-Values: 8/10 – Pretty character-designs with pretty good animation.
Setting: 9/10 – Captures college life, and the things that surround it.

Honey and Clover 10 Volume Series by Chica Umino

The series was very bittersweet, and perhaps if you don't want a lingering unfinished romance set during college years, among artists, it's probably not for you. But I really enjoyed the soul-searching of a young architect who finds solace in temple restoration, and a petite sculptor who wants nothing more than to paint gigantic landscapes and flowers instead. There are others, and they all have their own journeys. It's slice-of-life, and there are some meandering romances, but I don't think any of them is ever really resolved. There's also a fairly bizarre parody of Peter Jackson/George Lucas that transported the series into Sci-Fi territory just to give a breath of air... I think.

Pages: 1,970 (Roughly 200 pages per volume)
Year: March 4, 2008 to June 1, 2010 (original run: June 2000 – July 28, 2006)
Publisher: Viz Media (original publisher in Japan: Shueisha)

Read: 31 December 2016 to 1 January 2017
Stars: 4.5 (adored it)

//excuse me while I become somebody else for this review...okay or not

Morita didn't say the words exactly, well he doesn't need to. Anyone who doubts his way of putting "I love you" must be a total ignoramus. He didn't put it the way Augustus Waters of TFIOS (JG) put it, but its impact was the same anyway. And if you read it and you didn't find it enough to do justice to the rusted three-words-eight-letters, you should read it again. (Okay or maybe it's just that I'm reading it at a time like this, my gawwd, and with a mood like this, in this kind of weather.)

The comedy parts decreased. The highlight's Hagu's accident, and she now can't feel anything with her right hand. That damn right hand which was god's gift to this world that needs art and beauty. Why, of all things that could be ruined, would some horrible incident choose Hagu's right hand, right? That is just downright unfair.

But looking at the bright side (this is me being the optimistic human being), maybe (this is me being the uncertain human being) paved way to something (this is me being the can't-put-my-thoughts-into-the-right-words human being) that should've taken place a long time ago, if only no conflict in schedule, priorities, and cowardice hadn't gotten in the way of their lives. The design of a mortal's life is really crazy sometimes, I bet none of us could ever make a master plan for our lifespan since we can't predetermine death. This life lets you meet people and do all sorts of things with them and then somewhere it gets so screwed up, and lessons come in late, and I can't finish this sentence, I don't know how to organize my words - my thoughts are jumbled.

This is becoming a long review already, and a crappy one too, crappier than the usual so just to summarize the whole volume:

Morita had this issue with the guy who destroyed his father. But apparently he wasn't really up for the revenge thing designed by his brother Kaoru, he just did the things for solidarity - Kaoru was aware of this.

Hagu had that accident.

Takemoto once again felt that he can't give Hagu anything.

Yamada's being chased by Nomiya. Going to a good way too, but isn't completely over with Mayama.

Mayama's in Spain. He's getting closer to Rika.

There. I am still trying to find out why it's called "Honey and Clover" and how come I was able to endure this dramatic manga. Drama is not my thing. But maybe, depression is. And stories about depressed people are just...just....amazing. And also, they're all so artistic. I fucking love artistic people because they can do what I can't, they see what I can't...they breathe the ugliness and exhale beauty. (okay I should stop...)

The art is lovely as well.

Hagu is hospitalized and might not be able to paint or sculpt again. Morita and his brother finally have enough money to get revenge on someone who shaped their childhood in a traumatic way.
