Christmas Bedtime Stories was a great book. I would suggest it to people who like to read holiday books. It's all about Christmas. Also it would be fun to read it to other people. This is why I liked Christmas Bedtime Stories.
A fun collection of short Christmas stories for middle grade kids. While I didn't find most of these stories particularly well written, I thought the concepts for most of these stories were unique and interesting. My kids and I enjoyed reading these aloud together this Christmas season.
Wide range of short stories from a princess story to some science fiction. Only one of these stories could I imagine reading to my young boys at this point in time.
This book has a lot of great stories in it. I was kind of put off by the sci-fi story though. It's not a bad story, on the contrary it's really well written. But it felt out of place compared to the other stories which were often set back then or more modern. My favorite story was the "Pepper Cakes" my son found it hilarious too because it's a prank that back fired. I got my copy from Abe Books and the seller was awesome. It's in amazingly great shape and I look forward to reading it again next year.
I picked this up at an estate sale over the summer because of the topic, Christmas stories!, and the nostalgia of the 1990s “Great Illustrated Classics”. I loved the illustrations but the stories were hit and miss. No authors for each story but they were clearly written by different people and some were really weirdly written in ‘breaking the fourth wall’ kind of way and I didn’t enjoy that.
This was a pleasurable read in the days leading up to the Christmas holiday. While there is definitely a mixed assortment of stories, I appreciated the diversity of the collection itself both in terms of genre (fantasy, science-fiction, realistic fiction), tone, characters (humans, animals, inanimate objects), time period, and theme. A fun one to add to our holiday collection.
Even though this book appears to be written for children, young and old will love reading about Evan A. Mouse in "The night before Christmas," as well as feel glad for little Cathy in "Crayon Box Christmas."
