This is an anthology of original stories that are connected by the theme of dreams. It's a kind of hit-or-miss selection or both fantasy and science fiction, produced by Martin H. Greenberg's Tekno Books, edited by Denise Little, and with an outstanding classic-looking cover by Kinuko Craft. I especially enjoyed the stories by Nancy Springer and Diane Duane, and my favorite was Consolation Prize by Gary A. Braunbeck.

This was a terrific fantasy anthology all about dreaming. Most of the stories are 4 *'s or better with only a dud or two. I bought this one because of the stories by Josepha Sherman & Susan Sizemore but ended up enjoying many of the other authors too.

I admit to buying this due to the cover by Kinuko Craft. Like any anthology, there were certain stories I enjoyed more than others. My favorites included Night Stuff, Needle and Dream, Dreamfisher, Consolation Prize, and Shelter.

It took me months to get through Little's Perchance to Dream. Originally I sought this book because I am heavily involved with all things dream-related (hence my screen name DreamSE22). The book is comprised of several short stories with a theme of dreams or dreaming. The stories were mixed between fantasy and sci-fi, and I thought most were quite boring. The premise of the book was a great idea, but failed to entertain me. I struggled with it immensely, trying to read one story per day within the last week just to finish it. The better stories were contained in the second half of the book. I fairly enjoyed Dreamfisher for its innocence, A Butterfly's Dream for its time-travel element, and Marty Plotz's Rules For Success for its quirky humor. I realize Denise Little has edited and compiled similar books with different themes, so next time I will aim for something more entertaining and funny, perhaps not so serious a subject as dreams.

Favorite Story:

Dreamfisher by Nancy Springer -- I loved the primitiveness of this story and the irony of the odd wrong girl that no one wanted to be around becoming the wise woman that everyone wished to name their child.
