Przepiękna książka idealna dla najmłodszych! Wzruszająca na końcu że hej 🥺

„O chłopcu który stał się psem” - to wprost idealna historia dla najmłodszych - zarówno dla rodziców, którzy chcą czytać dzieciom i sami wciągnąć się w krótką, ale pełną delikatnych emocji fabułę, jak i dzieci, które same zaczęły już czytać, bo czcionka jest odpowiednio duża, a wydanie przepiękne - udekorowane czarnymi obrazkami, które tylko mogą wzbogacić wyobraźnię o całej opowieści i zachwycić.

Czy ktoś z Was zastanawiał się kiedyś jak to jest być w ciele czworonoga? Bo chłopiec George się o tym doskonale przekonał, przypadkiem zamieniając się ciałem z psem Północ.
Mamy kilku ciekawych bohaterów (oczywiście nie zabraknie i złego charakteru, który dzieci próbują szybko wyjaśnić, ale spotyka się to z różnymi trudnościami) co powoduje, że nawet w wieku 20 lat spędziłam sobie z tą książką świetny poranek, bo całość zajęła mi pewnie z godzinkę, bo łyknęłam to na raz, ale za to jaka fajna była ta godzina! Nie zabraknie magii, przyjaźni, zwierząt i jak to zwykle bywa - motywu, gdzie dzieci widzą złe zamiary dorosłego i próbują o tym przekonać innych, ale dopóki tego nie udowodnią - inni nie chcą im uwierzyć. Magiczna fontanna? Zaklęcia?
Sen?

A dodatkowy wątek z psem Śnieżynką, który był bardziej w tle - niesamowicie mnie wzruszył, to było przepiękne. Aż musiałam tę scenę Wam przerysować na zdjęcie.

Więc możecie być pewni, że gdybym sama miała teraz bobasa, no takiego ciut większego bobasa niż bobasa, to już by znał tę historię razem ze mną ❤️

I loved this book (and yes I am in my 30s) it was a lovely quick exciting book that did really well describing what it's like to be a dog. It would teach children really good empathy skills. Should be made into a Christmas special with Steven Coogan as Clive and Ncuti Gatwa as Clarence. Ben Miller himself would be Gabe or maybe even Midnight :-). Ben Miller was fantastic at narrating the audio book, I'm going to buy other books by him because I loved his narration so much.

A heart warming tale about a boy named George switching bodies with a huge loveable hound called Midnight . Full of laughs , this book is recommended for children and adults of all ages . I've read three other Ben Miller books which I give all of them 5 stars but this one might be my favourite one so far because it's a mix of magic , friendship and the point of view from a dog .

I’m a new teacher, often reading books to see if I should add them to my classroom library. My grown butt cried crocodile tears, almost saying absolutely not. But oh the tears were worth it. This is a great story, exposing us to a unique side of empathy. Hands down one of my favorite ‘student’ reads this year.

I like how this book opened cheerfully but it suddenly turns to being sad after George gets a puppy but had to return it after his mum died.

Then it goes into present day where he and his dad are looking after Lady Jane's and Koko's house, Hill House, whiles they are away as George's dad is the estate manager.
However they arrive home early unexpected to George and his dad with Lady Jane's new husband Clive who is a magician and his dog Midnight who is a pony poo.

I like that the pace picked up in chapter 5 as George found out that Clive's magic does work but too well. George witnessed a rabbit and a budgie swapped bodies and found out that Clive has stolen jewels.

When George and his dad go to the house the next morning. George start talking to Koko and explains that she met her dad, Mr Yoshida for thr first time since her parents divorce and that a lady accused Clive of stealing her necklace and swapped it for a fake when doing a trick.

When Koko and George are trying to find out where the budgie and rabbit are they find Clive changing them to their normal bodies but once he has left Koko and George talk thought the spell. However Midnight starts drinking from the fountain and when George trys to stop Midnight the spell works and George and Midnight changed bodies.

I liked that throughout the book the pace gets faster. However some parts are quiet dark when Clive talks about wanting to body swap more things.

But I liked that Midnight help George talk to Koko to find out Clive's plan with help from his assistance Clarence who both swap bodies but where caught by Lady Jane because of acting suspicious. But when trying to swap bodies back Midnight tells Clive that he knows about his plan, this makes George annoyed which made him bite Clive.

From this event Clive punishes George by putting him in a kennel for bad dogs and body swap lady Jane and koko with the budgie and rabbit. Which I found a bits dark.

However when George is at the kennel he meets other dogs, Daisy, Frank.George noticed a drain pipe with a cover on in his kennel which he is able to bite the cover off then move through out the pipe to escape but he meets a dog called Scruffy how tells George how he can escape.

To escape he had to fight Winston to be able to speak to the top dog who knows how to escape. George is able to succeed fighting Winston. Once he is able to meet the top dog he realises the top dog is Snowball who instantly recognise him and remember everything about him this makes it even more important that she is able to help him escape. I love that he got to reconnect to with Snowball and explain why he had to take her back to the kennel.

Once George has escaped he remembers the route home from the kennel but runs into his dad and Midnight.

When they get home they find Lady Jane and Koko tied up near Clive and Clarence. George's dad confronts Clive saying the police is on the way. Once the police arrive George pushes Clive into the fountain, because Clive was midway throught the spell he bodied swapped with the fish Gogmagog which I found funny.

After that Clive's human body is arrested and George and Midnight are able to swap back to normal.

Once everything is back to normal, George is able to bring Snowball home and Lady jane also asked George and his dad to move in with her and Koko.

"O chłopcu, który stał się psem" to już czwarta książka Bena Millera, w której przenosi on nas w zupełnie inny świat, a mianowicie świat widziany oczami psa! Czytając słowo od autora, byłam zaskoczona, że w każdej z jego poprzednich książek, głównymi bohaterami są jego własne dzieci. A że przy pisaniu czwartej powieści, zdał sobie sprawę, że więcej potomstwa już nie ma, jego bohaterem stał się pies, który pewnego dnia stał się członkiem ich rodziny - i to zupełnie przez przypadek. Autor bowiem lubił pisać w kawiarniach i pewnego dnia właśnie tam pojawili się właściciele dwóch ogromnych psów i siedmiu małych szczeniąt. Także to czym się inspiruje autor jest po prostu fascynujące! Mam nadzieje, że autor napisze kolejny tom, bo już teraz jestem ogromnie ciekawa jego kolejnej inspiracji i oczywiście historii!

George to mały chłopiec, który wraz ze swoim ojcem mieszka obok wielkiej posiadłości Hill House należącej do lady Jane, która wraz ze swoją córką Koko, wybrała się w podróż dookoła świata. Jego ojciec miał doglądać domu, podczas ich nieobecności. Gdy pewnej nocy George słyszy na zewnątrz wycie psa, postanawia sprawdzić, kto niepowołany wszedł na teren posiadłości. Co się okazuje, lady Jane i Koko wróciły z podróży, wraz z Clive'em - podstarzałym iluzjonistą, nowym mężem właścicielki i jego psem, o imieniu Północ. I wszystko byłoby w porządku, gdyby pewnej nocy George nie zobaczył na własne oczy, jak nowy partner lady Jane wykorzystuje moc zaklętej fontanny do własnych niecnych celów. Do tego jego tajemnicza rozmowa z asystentem, któremu mówi, że będą milionerami. Chłopczyk wraz z Koko i psem, postanawia pokrzyżować plany oszusta. Jednakże sprawy się komplikują, gdy dzięki mocy zajętej fontanny, George zamienia się ciałem z psem Północą. Czy uda im się powrócić do swojej poprzedniej "formy" i powstrzymać złego iluzjonistę?

Ben Miller ma fantastyczne pióro. Historię czyta się dosłownie w mgnieniu oka, a wydarzenia, które mają w niej miejsce są tak płynne, że ma się wrażenie bycia ich świadkiem. Autor stworzył naprawdę magiczny świat, w fenomenalny sposób ukazując go oczami psa. George w ciele zwierzaka, zachowuje swoje myślenie, jednakże są rzeczy, w których wygrywa natura psa - takie jak np drapanie po brzuszku. Ta historia w świetny sposób pokazuje jak wielka jest więź między człowiekiem a psem, uwrażliwia młodego czytelnika w kierunku samych zwierząt, oraz pięknie pokazuje, że pies to największy przyjaciel człowieka. I nieważne czy jest on wzięty ze schroniska, czy kupiony za grube miliony. Wydanie tej książki jest przepiękne, zawiera w sobie czarno białe rysunki, które są tak cudnie wplecione w cały tekst, że z przyjemnością chłonie się te historie. Jeśli lubicie czytać z dzieckiem magiczne i lekkie historie, albo wasze dziecko już samo pochłania książki, to "O chłopcu, który stał się psem" z pewnością mu się spodoba. Nie brakuje tu magii, humoru, a nawet akcji i czarnego charakteru, który nadaje tej historii jeszcze większą nutkę ciekawości. Ja jestem zachwycona tą książka i z pewnością nadrobię poprzednie powieści autora. To idealna lektura dla młodszych dzieci! Polecam ogromnie!

Kto z was chociaż raz w życiu chciał zamienić się ciałami? Ja chyba połowę swojego życia tak chciałam. :p Bycie np. kotem, bo non stop śpią i robią co chcą, zamienić się z kimś, kto ma ciekawą pracę albo jak to jest być mężczyzną. :p Proszę nie śmiać się tak już miałam. Jak zobaczyłam tę pozycję, to zróbcie taką stop klatkę jak w filmie jak bohater otwiera np. list i jego twarz nabiera takiego cudownego uroku to ja tak miałam w tamtym momencie. Dziś na tapet bierzemy książkę autorstwa Bena Miller pt. „O chłopcu, który stał się psem” który fantastycznie umilił mi czas, a tym bardziej dowiedziałam się, że psy poprzez wąchanie swojej tylnej części ciała dowiadują się o drugim osobniku pewnych informacji. Nie miałam o tym pojęcia.
Nasi bohaterzy, czyli George (chłopiec) i Północ (pies) w pewnym momencie dochodzi do zamiany ciał. Nie martwcie się to nie spojler tego dowiecie się na wstępnie. Kto to zrobił, jakie były tego skutki, czy ktoś rozpoznał w psie Georga? Co było dobrego, a co złego w tej zamianie to już dowiecie się sami, a na małą zachętę napisze, że do tego wszystkiego potrzebna jest pewna fontanna, która jest magiczna. Ta książka należy do tych nieodkładanych, którą czyta się naprawdę bardzo szybko. Ta pozycja należy też do tych, które w subtelny sposób uwrażliwiają młodsze pokolenie (ale i nas samych) na wrażliwość, empatie wobec zwierząt oraz, że przyjaźń między dzieckiem, dorosłym np. z psem, kotem naprawdę istnieje i tak jak jesteśmy w stanie walczyć o przyjaciół (ludzi) tak równie mocno możemy walczyć o nasze zwierzaki i nieważne, czy to pies, kot, chomik, królik, czy szczur.
Kochani jestem wielkim zwolennikiem mówienia głośno, że zwierzęta nie nadają się jako prezent. To żywe istoty, więc jeżeli decydujecie się na jakiegoś pupila dla siebie, czy swoich dzieci pamiętajcie, że takie tematy trzeba dobrze przemyśleć. Moim zdaniem zamiast kupować psa, kota za grube tysiące przejdźcie się do schroniska. To, że pies, czy kot nie ma certyfikatu, czy jak to tam się nazywa, to nie znaczy, że jest gorszy, a wręcz przeciwnie. Wierzę, że będą dziękować wam każdego dnia za danie im domu. Książka pełna magii, humoru, ucieczek, pościgów, a nawet walka z czasem. Idealna do spędzenia wspólnego czasu z naszymi dziećmi tymi mniejszymi i starszymi poprzez wspólne czytanie czy słuchanie w formie audiobook. Zapraszam również do zapoznania się z opisem książki, jeżeli chcecie dowiedzieć się czegoś więcej.

George's dad is the manager of a large English estate. Both George and Dad like the owner (Lady Jane) and her daughter Coco, even considering them friends. When Lady Jane and Coco return from a cruise with a man called Clive, George is very surprised to learn he is Lady Jane's new husband. He was the magician on the cruise ship. It sounds all a bit quick to George, but Coco doesn't seem to mind.

George is out late one night when he sees Clive acting strangely next to a small fountain on the estate. Is he practicing a new magic trick? What George sees is much more than that and he knew he must tell Coco.

Coco isn't convinced of George's worries about her new stepdad. At least not until the weirdest thing happens to George and Clive's large black shaggy dog, Midnight. They have changed places - George inside Midnight, and Midnight inside George.

George's dad and Coco's mum refuse to believe what they're trying to tell them, so Midnight, George and Coco put together a plan to put things right.

Everything goes wrong! Will Clive achieve his master plan? He is keen to make millions, at the expense of Coco and Lady Jane. How can George help from inside the body of a dog?


This story is funny, thrilling, clever and easy to read. It also has a great twist at the ending that I never saw coming. If you've ever wondered what it is like to be a dog, this is the book for you. Smells, scratches, and dog etiquette are just a few of the things you will learn about from a dog's point of view.

A really enjoyable read for middle grade readers. Would make a great Read Aloud.

Najnowsza książka autora w sposób humorystyczny opowiada historię George i pewno psa zwanego Północ. Za sprawką pewnego czaru zamienili się oni swoimi ciałami.
Książka posiada magiczną atmosferę. Autor zadbał o to by wprowadzić czytelnika w klimat książki opisując pewną magiczną fontannę i jej wodę. Na początku myślałam, że nie doczekam się kiedy w końcu George stanie się psem. A kiedy to już się stało czytało nam się coraz lepiej. Nie potrafiliśmy książki odłożyć. Lektura wciągnęła nas bez reszty i dostarczyła wiele radości. Nie jednokrotnie wybuchaliśmy śmiechem, ale były również takie momenty, gdy siedzieliśmy cali napięci.
Jeśli lubicie czytać z dziećmi to bardzo polecam kolejną książkę Bena Millera. Ta ciekawa i zabawna opowieść o chłopcu, który przez przypadek zamienił się w psa dostarczy Wam wiele emocji. Na pewno ani dziecko, ani dorosły nie powie po jej przeczytaniu, że była nudna.
A jeśli Wasze dzieci lubią już samodzielnie czytać to ta książka jest dla nich świetnym prezentem. Posiada ona odpowiednią wielkość czcionki dla małych czytelników. Polecam!

Ο Ben Miller γίνεται ένας από τους αγαπημένους μου συγγραφείς παιδικών περιπετειών! Αυτή τη φορά πρωταγωνιστής είναι ο Τζορτζ, που μένει με τον πατέρα του σε ένα αγγλικό αρχοντικό, στο οποίο ο πατέρας του είναι ο επιστάτης. Η κυρία της έπαυλης είναι η Lady Jane, που έχει μια κόρη, την Κόκο, στην ηλικία του Τζορτζ. Η περιπέτεια αρχίζει όταν η Lady Jane επιστρέφει με την Κόκο μετά από μια κρουαζιέρα, με το νέο της σύζυγο, ο οποίος φαίνεται να κρύβει κάτι. George loved his dog Snowball, but Dad gave it away when Mum died. George’s dad is the groundsman and keeper at Lady Jane’s house – Hill House. She has come home early with her daughter Koko and new husband Clive. Clive has a dog called Midnight who is big, black, hairy and great fun.
Gogmagog is an ancient carp that has lived in the lake forever. He hides to keep away from his enemy – the dog.
Midnight wakes George and leads him to the lake. Clive is casting a magic spell. What happens to the rabbit and budgie? What happens to Midnight and George? How does Koko, George and Midnight get to the bottom of the mystery?
I enjoyed the fantasy of the story.

IMO there is absolutely no reason to give away a dog, and this was my biggest issue with the book... The book started with George's nightmare recollecing snowball being given away, with an inadequate excuse as to why... I later did realise that it was so that the author could introduce a plot twist... No! The book's audience is 7+ and you don't not explain to a 7 year old that a dog can't just be given away...

Apart from this, the book was an easy, quick read for me... It had kid protagonists, and a dog (so Enid Blyton), the bad guys, magic, and a giant magic fish called Gogmagog... It gives the phrase wearing another's shoes, feeling empathy a whole new twist...

📚 Book Review 📚

This is a well written children’s book, full of magic and wonder.

Always looking for new, exciting and relevant children’s books, I decided to read this to my year 2 class.

The story is fun and written in a way that stirs imagination in young minds. Some of the language is challenging for younger readers but this made for good discussion during some of our sessions and the accompanying illustrations are beautifully drawn.

My class loved it and waited every day for the next instalment. Thirty, six and seven year olds can’t be wrong! 🐟 ⛲️ 🪄

This is my first read by Ben Miller, I've been a fan of his comedy for years and didn't realize he also wrote children's books as well. I just had to read one, to see what his written work was like. I found this to be a very cute story for young children but adults, can also enjoy it as well. It had me laughing out loud at moments. Recommend it to anyone whom is interested in dog stories. Ben Miller did a great job in describing, dog behavior and sharing why it's important, to be responsible pet owners to your dogs.

Reviewed as a family. We loved it. Perfect adventure story for our 8 and 6 year old. Some excellent twists and surprises, especially on the second half of the story. We can't wait to read more by Ben Miller.

This book was a present for my 6 year old son who is often feary of dogs. The descriptions throughout the book of what it is like to be a dog have really helped to build understanding and empathy as well as being very, very funny.

It was about a boy called George and a dog called Midnight, they accidentally body swapped. My favourite character was midnight because he was dog and I love dogs like love love dogs🐶 my favourite part was when they body swapped because I thought it would be fun to body swap with someone. it was mysterious and funny, I really enjoyed the book it really kept me going. I didn't really like the end but I would read that book again, sorry all the time😄

This book is an astonishing read aimed at 9-12 year olds but can be enjoyable for anyone.

When I first started reading this book I thought it was going to be a bit childish and a book about magic and dogs.

It pleasantly surprised me though, it has a very in depth plot with some very interesting characters. I think the author has spent lots of time researching and perfecting the storyline. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is up for a magical adventure!

A fun middle grade read about a body swap and a person who isn't what they seem.
George is investigating his friends new step dad, there is something not quite right about the magician, but in the process he accidentally switches soul's with his dog.
This was a fun and magical read for younger middle grade readers. The illustrations were fabulous too.

I read this book as I needed something simple to read, and I found this very fun. It was such an easy read as it's a children's book, but I was actually very interested in what would happen to George and Midnight, I'm glad George had a lovely suprise when he was in the kennel and the ending warmed my heart. Really nice quick read.

Well boy gets turned into dog story had some good moments but just didn't have the same charm as the previous book I read from Miller, good but maybe it just suffered in my comparison and it should be judged more on its own merits, some will love, for me it was good but not the best.

A super cute story with perfectly sized chapters for bedtime reading - easy to read aloud and really engaging. My little one was absolutely gripped and laughed out loud a lot! We read this just as we welcomed our own puppy to the family, so it felt especially fitting. Sure, it’s entirely predictable, but it’s a cosy, comforting read that hits the spot for kids aged six and up.

personal rating: 2/2.5 stars but i realise i’m not the target audience for this book so will round it up to three stars. a funny children’s book but i was hoping for the boy swapping bodies with a dog to be more fun than it actually ended up being.
