The Eden Pruitt #1

The Fabrication of Eden Pruitt

Rate this book
Studious and principled Eden Pruitt stepped out of line just once. Unfortunately, that reckless decision ended with an arrest, a mug shot, and two very concerned parents. Now they’re starting over. In Iowa, of all places. On the cusp of her senior year, of all times. The situation is less than ideal but she’ll just have to manage, and without complaint. The change of address was her fault after all, and she isn’t going to make anything harder on her parents, who have already been through enough.

But life in Iowa turns strange fast. Odd things are happening, and Eden has no idea what any of it means. Then she comes home from her first day of school to a ransacked house and the nightmare officially begins. Her parents are missing. She’s convinced something terrible has happened to them. But nobody believes her. Except for a hardened, mysterious stranger who is as dangerous as he is enticing.

I am so sad that the book is over. I finished late in the night and was so shocked that the story ended because I was so in to the story. From page one, KE Ganshert gripped me in the Fabrication of Eden Pruitt. The more I learned, the more I wanted to know. The more I knew, the more I wondered how it will all end. Thank goodness book two comes out this year and not next.

Holy. Heck 😳

Ganshert has created a fabulous story that leaves you on the edge of your seat from chapter one. The adrenaline pumping, tension building story that is The Fabrication of Eden Pruitt will leave you reeling. What makes it so good? The fact that it could be all too real 😅 A near-future dystopian, the political intrigue and manipulation made me pause and go ‘huh’ a number of times.

I love the rawness of the characters too. Cass, Eden, Cleo and the rest just felt real. I wanted to give them all hugs and join them in their fight. It was a beautiful story and I cannot wait for the sequel!

The Fabrication of Eden Pruitt is kind of mind-bending, at least, it was for me. I used to read a lot of YA novels and for several reasons but not so much anymore, but there are always exceptions and K.E. Ganshert is definitely of those exceptions. This was full of twists and turns I wasn't expecting and if you want a ride that you don't mind where it's taking you then I suggest you read The Fabrication of Eden Pruitt.

If you enjoy sleeping, I wouldn’t recommend picking this book up late in the day because right from page 1, you’re going to want answers and the only way to get them will be to keep reading! Whew! This book is a ride! Who do you trust? Who CAN you trust? There were moments I doubted everything and everyone. The entire cast of characters were well done. The story intrigued me and drew me in right away. I can’t wait for book 2!

Oh. My. Word. This book is SO good. And I am gutted that the last 20-ish% of it ended up being a sneak peek of book 2, haha! Can we say cliffhanger ending?!

Enough does end up getting resolved here to leave it wide open for subsequent books--but the pairing of the above leaves me internally weeping, lol (like any good reader, right?). I think that also speaks to Ganshert's talents as an author; she has created a brilliant dystopian world and characters who occupy it. WOW. (It makes me super excited to get into The Gifting, which I've not read but now must; while unrelated series, I'm confident it will successfully tide me over until I get this one's sequel.)

A brilliant book for the young adults in your life, and a clean alternative to many books out there--but one that doesn't shy away from hard topics, moral ambiguity, and the murky gray areas of life (in a good way).

4.5/5 stars.

I received an eARC of the book from the author. All opinions are my own.

The Fabrication of Eden Pruitt by K.E. Ganshert is an intriguing story. I’m a huge fan of dystopian society stories and I was hooked in the first chapter. I think the characters, all of them, are interesting, likable (except for the bad guy, of course). You’ll root for the good guys to prevail. There is lots of action, great suspense, and a bit of romance. This does have a cliffhanger ending, so don’t expect the mystery to be resolved at the end. If you need instant gratification, you won’t find it in this installment. I’m totally hooked and can’t wait for book two’s release.

Wow.

Ganshert took me on a ride I wasn’t prepared for, and I mean that in a good way. With so many twists and turns I couldn’t stop reading. Eden and Cass were both extraordinary, complicated, and wonderfully complex characters.

I’m not going to lie. It’s a long book. But it doesn’t feel like it when you’re reading. Instead it just feels like you’re on a journey with Eden - figuring out who to trust, and how everything comes together.

Be warned - that ending!! My oh my I cannot wait for book two. I think young adults and old adults alike will enjoy this exhilarating story. I know I sure did.

Twists and turns, along with several "What just happened?" moments made this a story that I won't soon forget! The Fabrication of Eden Pruitt is geared toward young adults but this grandmother was swept away by the futuristic scenario filled with adventure, suspense, and romance. Author K.E. Ganshert has crafted a story that you don't want to miss and her cliffhanger left me yearning for the next book in the series. I recommend it to all fans of dystopian and science fiction novels.

I voluntarily accepted a digital copy of this book but there was no obligation for a favorable review. These are my thoughts.

Headlines:
Don't accept events at first glance
A dystopian US
Who is Eden Pruitt?

This was such a ride of a read that started in normality but quickly spiralled into Eden finding her life was not as she knew it. The story was set in a contemporary dystopian US with events in the past that haven't happened to us that shaped their future. Eden found herself separated from her parents and in the company of a possible ally Cass.

For much of the story I was second guessing who was friend or foe. There were some amazing plot twists that really pulled the rug out from Eden and the reader. This was a fairly fast-paced read where Eden was on the run, fighting an unnamed enemy and second guessing her existence. I don't want to give away any of the plot but it was unpredictable, it had sci-fi elements and it read like a thriller. I thought this melding of dystopian ya thriller with sci-fi worked well.

There was a light romance in this story and that connection was belieavable, on the periphery but it fit well with the overall plot. There's a second installment to come in this series (duology?) and I'll definitely be reading on.

Thank you to the author for the finished copy for review.

The story starts out giving us a look into a day in the life of Eden and her parents moving to Iowa, leaving good friends, and starting new in her Senior year of high school.

Eden is adjusting, then one day she comes home to find their home has been ransacked. Where were her parents? She runs from the house; sensing someone was there. She had to get help. Once she shares her story with police, things start to unravel in the weirdest way. Eden can’t believe all this drama. Where is her cellphone? Why can’t she reach her parents by phone?

Then author has readers enter the Twilight Zone; Eden’s world has turned upside down. And inside out. I liked all the twists and turns that keep Eden and Casson (a new friend) on their toes, and me glued to my seat. I liked figuring out this puzzle with Eden and the unique setting that sets the tone for the book. The characters are believable and relatable, and the action, adventure takes you to a whole new dimension. That keeps you guessing.

Be warned this story ends abruptly, leaving readers hanging. Have no fear book two in the series titled, The Aberration of Eden Pruitt, release date is, September 13, 2022. Good news the book is now available for preorder. I look forward to reading the next book. It’s a wonderful summer read and fun escape.

Wow, was this book a ball of non stop action. There were so many twists and turns! It will definitely keep you on your toes wondering what will happen next. This was my first book by Katie but it definitely will not be my last.

The book is set in a futuristic world similar to today but more technologically advanced. In Eden and Cassian’s world there has been a nuclear civil war and families are struggling to recover from the loss and devastation. The book has a Total Recall vibe to it and definitely leaves you on a cliff hanger wanting more. If you like dystopian/sci-fi YA books you will love this one.

I can’t wait to find out what the future holds for Eden and Cassian!

Wow! What a mindblowing thrill ride! I don't even know where to begin. There's so much I want to say, but I feel like I have to be really careful because I don't want to spoil anything. A lot of the fun with this book was never knowing what was going to happen next. There were so many shocking surprises along the way. So many twists and turns that I never saw coming. And I loved every second of it. I was pulled in and completely captivated from the very start. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I didn't want it to end. I've already got the next book preordered and am so glad there's not too long of a wait for it. If you're looking for a pulse-pounding thriller that's impossible to put down, I highly recommend this book.

Imagine your completely normal life entirely upended one day and you’re thrust into a mystery, action-thriller that you’ve got to puzzle your way through to stay alive. And your only help comes from a dark (and attractive) brooding man you don’t know. This book held me captive from the very start and I couldn’t bear to put it down. I need the next books soon to put my mind at rest on this one. Ganshert knows how to build a completely intoxicating and captivating story that will reel you in and not let you go until she’s done spinning her tale.

Wow, Ganshert has done it again with another gripping and completely enthralling dystopian novel.

I will admit I wasn't quite sure about this particular book when I started it...but that quickly changed. The novel launches into a rocketing start that just doesn't let up. Thank goodness book #2 is coming out September 2022 and I won't have to wait long.

Gripping story, fascinating plot and characters, and a story that leaves you hanging at every turn...this one is a mystery for how the characters will be rescued from the problems that seem too big to overcome.

I can't wait to see what happens next!

Wow, K.E. Ganshert’s latest is a thriller from start to finish! She draws you into Eden’s world compassion and a cup of coffee, and the next thing you know you’re on a high-stakes chase through a dystopian sci-fi city.

That’s really what I loved most about this The Fabrication of Eden Pruitt: the main character is totally relateable, and then you’re drawn into a world, byte by romantic sizzle by clue, that’s clearly much more than you expected. Ganshert doesn’t lay it all out for you – she makes sure that you’re sucked into Eden’s world along with Eden so that you can see and feel from her perspective. This not only makes everything – even the sci fi aspects – feel totally realistic, but you’re also much more empathetic to the problems and the people at hand.

I’m excited to be using this book with one of my teen book clubs during this next school year, because while it’s totally a fun ride, there’s also a great deal that we can talk about. There are themes of love and sacrifice and dating and ethics all woven into this story, so that there’s great fodder for discussion. While my seniors won’t be in exactly these same scenarios, they are enough similarities to spark great debates and deep thought.

That won’t lessen the fun, though! Between the action scenes that read like something from a big-screen movie and the romantic asides with lots of sizzle, The Fabrication of Eden Pruitt is a fantastic, clean read for teens. I’m excited to recommend it – and I can’t wait for the sequel.

4.5 stars for this thrilling tale!!!

The Fabrication of Eden Pruitt
by K.E. Ganshert
Book 1 in the Eden Pruitt series
Rating: 4.5/5

Wow. The author knocks it out of the park with a thrilling new YA adventure that hooks you from the start and holds you captive until the end. You won't want to put the book down and once you do, you'll want the next book ASAP. I am so excited for the next books in the series.

First, the book cover is gorgeous and I love the monochromatic look.
Second, I love stories with mystery, romance, suspense and sci-fi components. This book pretty much has it all and will keep you guessing. The writing is well written and fast-paced.
Third, the characters are well-developed with just enough to keep you interested but also craving more in future books. Eden Pruitt is a more complex character than initially suspected with many layers to uncover. Cassian is a very mysterious and interesting character that I can't wait to read more about.
Fourth, the chemistry between Eden and Cassian is swoon worthy and that's all I'm gonna say ;)

PG-13 content.

Highly recommend if you enjoy YA contemporary fiction with romance, mystery, sci-fi, and suspense.

My thanks to the author and publisher for providing me with an ARC of the book. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own. No positive review was expected and no compensation received.

This book for me was one of those I-don’t-want-to-put-it-down-but-even-when-I-have-to-I-can’t-stop-thinking-about-it reads. You know, that kind of book 😂

Eden is such a well-written character that from first page to last, I was utterly captivated by her story. And that of the mysterious stranger! (oooh... Swoon...!!). And, everyone else, for that matter. Cannot wait to see what happens next in the series.

If you like YA, suspense, romance, or books set in the somewhat distant future, definitely add this one to your list of must reads. Absolutely amazing.

Sadly, this story just didn’t work for me. At the beginning, I was pretty intrigued and wanted to figure out just what was going on with Eden and her family. In fact, one thing that happened to her was one of my greatest irrational fears growing up, so initially, I felt very invested. As the story progressed, it went in a totally different direction than I was expecting. It also became a bit confusing and felt somewhat repetitive. There were also some pretty important decisions made that were based off of very little knowledge. While this story didn’t work for me, if you’re in the mood for an action packed YA thriller that is set in the future, this may be the story for you.

This is the first book in a new Young Adult trilogy by K. E. Ganshert. It’s set in a world that on the surface is just like today’s, but the story takes place in the future where things have changed. After division and civil war, the government is trying to control a lot in order to keep people unified and happy.

I never could have dreamed up the plot, but Ganshert sure kept up my interest. There’s fascinating technology – some bringing good, and some gone bad. There are people who are doing good, and others gone bad. There are young people who are trying to figure out what is important in life, do they matter, what is worth living and dying for.

Get ready to get sucked into this story – when I got into the last half I forgot everything I was supposed to be doing and read until the end… only to find that Ganshert leaves the plot hanging!!!

Do you enjoy high octane stories? Are you a fan of speculative fiction? Is Stranger Things one of your favorite shows?

Then have I got a book for you!

Imagine this: you're living your normal life, have two loving parents, and everything is going well. Then, in a split second, everything flips on its head and you have no idea what has happened, have no one to trust, and no clue how to figure this out?

Welcome to The Fabrication of Eden Pruitt, the newest YA novel by best-selling author K.E. Ganshert. It's a thrill ride from start to finish, with mind bending twists and shocking turns that will leave your imagination spinning.

I really can't share more--it would ruin the fun--but trust me--this is a must read. And do yourself a favor and pick up copies of her other YA novels too.

Wow! Ganshert's stories get better and better. This plot is fast-paced, intricate without being confusing, and compelling. Set in the near future using circumstances quite within the realm of possibility, gutsy heroine, Eden, and hunky hero, Cassian, join forces to keep Eden from the hands of an unknown enemy who goes by Moriarty. Not sure who to trust, or even if they can trust each other, they push ahead through danger and uncertainty. If you like clean, but swoon worthy romance, and non-stop adventure, thrills and a little high-tech sleuthing, you'll love The Fabrication of Eden Pruitt.

"No matter what happened- no matter how this shook out- there would be no going back. No way of unknowing."
This is such a well written, exciting read! I was on the edge of my seat of this entire story, never guessing what would happen next. The author's writing is so well done- I felt completely drawn in to the mystery and romance. Eden's character is so complex. I enjoyed seeing how things tied together, how things were uncovered, and how Eden's character changed and grew throughout the story. The characters were all interesting to get to know! I couldn't believe when it ended, I can't wait for the next installment of this series!

The Fabrication of Eden Pruitt is such a fun ride! I am a huge YA fan, and super fan of this author. This book has all the twists and turns you want and need. Dystopian future books can become repetitive and similar but this one is truly unique, there is nothing quite like it. And that is fantastic! I love all the characters, and they all have so much depth and many layers to them. I want to convince each and every one of you to read this, but I don't want to give any spoilers since it is way more fun that way. Each time the author writes a new book it will be a must read for me, and I am super thrilled to find out this is going to be a part of a series! Please do yourself a favor and check this one out!

This book didn’t click for me. It started out really intriguing, but for me became confusing and had a little too much going on in the plot. The unknowns and the mystery kept me invested in the plot up to a point, however a lot of the mystery was answered early on and the remaining portion kept getting more complicated. A lot of the fact gathering seemed a bit amateur as the characters were googling people and trying to connect people to each other . A lot of decisions were made on assumptions and it became hard to believe at a certain point. I wanted a bit of romance, but perhaps that will be developed in future books. I wanted to like this book, but it just wasn’t for me.
This book is a clean YA futuristic thriller that might interest fans who enjoy reading within the genre.

Hidden gem

I downloaded this totally by accident. Couldn’t find much about it. So, not to let something go to waste I started reading it. 2 days later I’m up for air! Wow, it is a great read! Frustrating at times because I can’t read faster.

The characters are awesome. The insight into high school days, love, loss are very well done.

There is a mystery in here to be solved and that keeps you going. Great work at keeping us reading. The SF is great and slowly revealed which is also pretty nicely done.

Really enjoyed the book and I’m off into the next in the series. It says a lot seeing I was off onto book 5 of the Whee of Time series when I accidentally came across this series. So I’ll put Robert Jordan on hold for a bit while I finish this series.

📚The Fabrication of Eden Pruitt
✍️K.E. Ganshert
2⭐️

The Fabrication of Eden Pruitt is a YA futuristic thriller in which the titular Eden Pruitt finds her life flipped upside down when she moves to a new city with her parents. Their new home is broken into and when Eden returns with the police, she is led to believe that her parents never existed and her name is not Eden Pruitt. Enter Cassian; a man who knows that people are after Eden in this futuristic America. What follows is a fast paced thriller revolving around Eden’s personal identity and the state of the this futuristic world. Personally not for me, I thought the world building was holey, characters weren’t very well developed and what back story there was, came too late.

DNF at 46%. The idea behind the book was interesting, but it was written in 3rd person. I will acknowledge it is very difficult for an author to convey all of the emotions in third person narration, but many writers CAN and still write amazing books. But this was just awful. Honestly the worst attempt I’ve ever seen in writing. You can’t abruptly jump between characters thoughts and feelings (head-hopping) without confusing readers. It makes the whole story seem clunky and unnatural. I almost quit after the first page because it was very clear the writing style is very crude. If I may suggest it re-written in first person, I guarantee that would completely change the reviews. It was so awful, I find it hard to believe that any reviews above 2 stars weren’t paid for by the publisher.

This book is totally different from anything I have ever read. Eden and Cass are the main characters in this story. Eden is a special girl. I don't really even want to beginning describing this story as I may give some of it away. Like I said quite a different story. I was ready for it to be done so I could move on to another book and did not plan to read a second book, but the author ends the book in the middle of the story. So you have to read book 2. Thankfully she gives several chapters of book two and I am hoping they are enough to get me to not worry about book 2. Nothing wrong with it just different and really not the type of book I like to read although it was engaging and kept you reading.
