After a summer of successful pirate-treasure hunting, Lady Emily Scofield and her friends must hide the unprecedented discoveries they've made, thanks to the betrayal of her own family. Horrified by her brother, who stops at nothing to prove himself to their greedy father, Emily is forced to take a stand against her family--even when it means being cut off entirely.

Bram Sinclair, Earl of Telford, is fascinated with tales of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table--an interest he's kept mostly hidden for the last decade. But when a diary is unearthed on the islands that could lead to a secret artifact, Bram is the only one able to piece the legends together.

As Bram and Emily seek out the whereabouts of the hidden artifact, they must dodge her family and a team of archeologists. In a race against time, it is up to them to decide what makes a hero worthy of legend. Is it fighting valiantly to claim the treasure . . . or sacrificing everything in the name of selfless love?

This is a delightful trilogy with likable characters and a setting rich in history in a series of islands off the coast of England around the beginning of the twentieth century. We met most of the characters in the first of the stories, some who were already friends and some who became friends and more. In this story, we have Bram, Lord Telford, and Lady Emily's story. They are both such great characters. She is humble and kindhearted with a mean-spirited father and brother who mistreat her. Bram has a cool bored seeming exterior but a noble heart of gold. Theirs is a sweet story filled with rough spots along the way, including danger and suspense. The series is all about finding treasures and now the crew of friends are searching for an artifact that a found letter hints of one belonging to King Arthur hidden somewhere in the islands. There are some great insights into God's love and how He values us and knows us by name. "Walk worthy of His calling. Go forth boldly--and live." I highly recommend this series for lovers of Christian historical fiction with an English history, mystery, and suspenseful twist.

"She’d made her wonder if she really understood what love was. Made her question whether its truest form wasn’t in giving it to those who deserved it... but in loving each person however they needed, whether they loved one back or not. She’d never loved anyone like that. But what would change if she could?"

A fitting conclusion to the Scilly trilogy. There are so many characters that even in the third book, I was always forgetting who was related to whom. As with the other books, there were 2+ romances in the story, which means at least 4 POVs, so lots of explanation, backstory, and telling, but consistent with the series.

I liked Bram and Emily though, and liked their arcs. I didn't feel sizzling chemistry, but I could see how they fit together.
There were some really good lessons and thoughts on real love and mercy, but the deeply disturbing and theologically and period-incorrect catchphrase "you are worthy" had a moment, which always leaves me highly uncomfortable as the book of Revelation makes it pretty clear that God alone is worthy, while we sinners deserve nothing but judgment apart from Jesus. It's just so odd when this thought pattern shows up in historical fiction. But that aside, there were some other good takeaways to chew on.

The characters in this trilogy are fresh and unique, with a great range of supporting characters who always surprise you. I was super happy when I saw who Briggs' love interest was.

"How did mercy and justice meet? With pain and sacrifice. And beauty beyond anything he’d ever seen."

Set in 1906 on the Isles of Scilly, Worthy of Legend follows the stories of Lady Emily Scofield and Bram Sinclair. After layers of her family’s betrayal come to the surface, Emily, Bram, and the other characters that are known and loved in Roseanna M. White’s trilogy, The Secrets of the Isles, team up to hide the clues and discoveries they’ve made. After several confrontations with her father and brother, Emily has to take a stand—will she stand with the ones who have loved her as her family should have, or will her father’s threat to cut off all money allowances become too much for her when the shelves are bare and her stomach empty? What happens when Bram has no intention of falling in love this summer but realizes his heart may be more open to the idea of love when someone almost takes away the woman he vowed to protect for good? You’ll have to read to find out!

Alrighty, I am here to provide pros, cons, and a cautionary for this last installment of White’s trilogy.

Story pacing: The pacing of Worthy of Legend was a little bit slow at first. After having read all of the author’s previously published books, I know that while the story may start off a little slow for my liking, it always picks up, and I never regret pushing through the slow starts because it’s always worth it! If you prefer slower-paced reads, then you’ll absolutely love this book. If you’re more like me and don’t mind a slow start that crescendoes to a fast-paced, exciting climax, stick with it--you’ll love this book as I did too!

Characters: The characters in this book absolutely stole my heart—probably more than any other book I’ve read by the author. Bram and Enyon—they brought this book from an already 4-star read to a glowing 4.75-star review. Where do I start? Let me tackle Bram’s character first:

Bram was such an example to me of what it means to find someone who loves you when others reject you, builds you up when others tear you down, and never gives up on you when others already have. There were so many tender scenes with Emily where she wrestled with the sadness of being rejected by her family and recounted all the times she had been berated and belittled by her father and brother, and while Bram listened to every word she said, he would never allow her to sit in those lies. He would point her back to the truth, every time.

In one particular scene where Emily was talking about how her brother, the antagonist of this series, Nigel, and everything he did to her when she was growing up, Bram said this to her: “I think perhaps that was a blessing in disguise—because instead of turning out like them, you’ve turned out like you.”

Yes, I highlighted that quote on my Kindle because it’s so beautiful, and such a needed truth to speak over those in our lives. Good things can be brought out of hard ones; sometimes, in order to recognize that beauty, we need someone to show us where to find it. Bram did this for Emily’s character, and I absolutely loved it.

Enyon’s character. Oh my word, he was absolutely amazing. Even though his relationship/interactions with Tommie are not the focal point of this story, their love story still got the attention it deserved. It was truly so beautiful. Enyon never saw Tommie for what others had done to her, but the God who was in her heart. He proved this time and time again. There’s this scene—I won’t mention specifics in order to avoid spoilers—where Tommie and Anyone are talking, and Enyon says this to her: “You were trying to be invisible behind Lady Emily, yet you were all sunshine and smiles in the kitchen. Brightness hidden in shadow. With a ghost story of your own in your eyes. I don’t expect you to tell me all that put it there, certainly not yet. But I’d like the chance to earn your trust. So that if ever you do . . . well, you won’t find a readier ear to hear it or a readier heart to believe it. Whatever haunts you, you needn’t be haunted alone.”

Goshhh. Enyon’s character absolutely won me over at that moment. What an example of what it means to be there for someone. To be willing to listen, but not pressing that person to trust you before they’re ready. Enyon was so patient with Tommie, and he so demonstrated the same love God lavishes on His children—arms always welcoming home, ears always willing to listen, and love that never gives up.

Morals: If the characters alone haven’t convinced you to read Worthy of Legend, the morals absolutely should! There was one moral in particular that absolutely stood out to me because it’s rare in fiction. But the best kind of rare. When Bram is trying to figure out the growing feelings he has for Emily, he consults with his best friend, Sheridan. He confides in Sheridan, telling his friend that he truly wants to understand his feelings for Emily. Are they ones that were brought about by the inner knight in him, wanting to save a damsel in distress? Or did he truly love her? This conversation with Sheridan became one of my favorite scenes in the book because it was a demonstration of what love is. What it looks like. And why it’s important to understand how you feel about someone and be sure it really is love before you pursue them on a deeper level. It’s rare to find a book that talks about love before the characters fall in love, and I absolutely loved that moral in this story. The author nailed it—absolute perfection!

Minor dislikes: The only reason I’m docking .25 stars isn’t because of the content, but just a few scenes I wished were handled a little differently. I won’t specify what they are in order to keep this review from containing spoilers, but they’re nothing major. Just a few minor preferences of mine, but nothing that distracts or takes away from the storyline!

Slight cautionary: There is mention of sexual abuse, as two of the characters state that they had something taken from them (their virtue). The author handled this aspect of the story so carefully, and no explicit details whatsoever are mentioned, only the occurrence of that event taking place. If you’d like more specific details, please feel free to comment and let me know, and I’d be happy to share more.

All this to say, please do yourself a favor and grab a copy of Worthy of Legend. Not only was it my favorite book in this trilogy, but one of my favorite books yet by the author. An excellent, wonderful read!

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for an eARC of Worthy of Legend. A positive review was not required, only my honest opinion. All thoughts are expressly my own.

Synopsis: There is still treasure to be found among the Isles of Scilly...and Lady Emily Scofield is determined to keep her cruel, greedy brother Nigel from finding it. Alongside the grumpy Lord Bram Sinclair, the compassionate Tremaynes, and the quirky Howes, Emily discovers a wealth of treasure greater than even the legends told—love, forgiveness, and redemption.

What I Loved: What can I say? Every aspect of White’s novels is (almost) impeccable, and Worthy of Legend is no exception. She immediately drew me into the story with her adorable knight in shining armor, Bram Sinclar, and timid Lady Emily Scofield and their tender love story.

Naturally, Bram was a doll. He did remind me a great deal of Barclay, Samuel, Brice, and a whole host of her other heroes, which kept him from standing out like he had in the previous two books...and he simply cannot compare to Sheridan, so there’s that. I wanted more of him being a grump face too, but I guess that’s because I am a grump have a weakness for grumpy characters.

ANYWAY, he was such a dear, and I loved getting a glimpse into his mind and witnessing his fierce desire to protect Emily (and the other women in his life). That trait, so wonderful and pure and right, is so despised in today’s culture, and it saddens me. *sighs* But I digress, else I’ll start ranting.

As for Emily...she was lovely—not a favorite, no, but actually tolerable enough to dance with. Since I have a hard time liking heroines, it means a lot when I say Emily didn’t annoy me at all and was rather admirable. I ADORED her character growth and the way she recognized her faults and strove to do better, seeking God all the way.

And of course I loved the rest of the cast—especially Sheridan, but y’all know that. Vandermeer was a new favorite—so full of wit and precarious mystery and Americanisms, naturally. I shipped him and Millie right from the start, and his interactions with Bram? Pure gold.

The themes and messages and character growth were all exceptional, and I just love how authentic the faith content is. There’s nothing forced or over-the-top or too subtle—everything flows smooth and feels natural and addresses tough questions in a way that reads as real instead of academic paper on the subject. That’s a rare find in anything these days.

Even though this is the last book, let it be duly noted once more than I love the concept. Buried treasure (in a more realistic way than typically depicted in popular culture)? A beautiful island setting? A wee bit of adventure, suspense, and action? Tell me, what is not to love?

What I Didn’t Love: I hate to say it...but even though Emily didn’t annoy me, she didn’t stand out much to me either, but not for lack of character strength and development. It was simply that she reminded me of other characters, and I simply didn’t connect with her and her personality. Is that typical? Yes. Does that mean I like that? Nope.

But moving on…

I tried SO hard to like Tommie...but I failed miserably. For one, she seemed like a copied-and-pasted version of Deirdre from the Ladies of the Manor series, and similar to several other characters too. She didn’t have a very strong personality, and I felt like she either needed more page time to fully develop her or less so that Emily and Bram could flourish.

Speaking of page time and development, it may have just been me, but both romances—Bramily’s and Tomyon’s—seemed kinda rushed. I think a couple more scenes might have helped in that department, though.

And the fact that one minute Bram wanted to protect Emily and the next minute wanted her to protect herself seemed like a bit of a random contradiction. Like, I get it, and I agree that Emily needed some confidence and a gun, but the way it was written seemed a little feministic. *shrugs* But I am paranoid about that stuff, so it could’ve been me.

Also. WHERE WAS MAMM-WYNN??? Like, I feel like she only had two sentences in the whole novel, and that is WRONG. She is the backbone of the series, and for her to just fade into the background is like sin. *sobs* I missed her so much. Same with Sheridan and Beth. I wanted moooore.

Long Story Short: Regardless, this was still a five star read. (Maybe more like four and a half, but whatever.) My pet peeves aside, Worthy of Legend was a worthy ending to this legendary romance series! White did it again, folks. She pulled you into this wild treasure hunt, spun stories of pirates and kings the likes of Mr. Gibson’s tall tales, and led you to the ultimate treasure: love.

(That said, I expect a Christmas novella with all these couples—all seven of them, I think it is—celebrating as a huge family in the Scillies!)

"Live the legacy, my friend. Walk worthy of His calling. Go forth boldly - and live."

Roseanna M White's historical fiction just gets better and better with each series. I loved every book I have read written by the author; I am amazed, each and every time I read a new release, at how fresh, delightful, and captivating her books are.
This series that infuses pirate lore with treasure hunting gets a fun plot twist with the introduction of King Arthur's legends and associated relics. I don't know much about King Arthur and his knights but it was such a great adventure to learn about those tales as Bram, Emily, and the rest of the crew pieced together the puzzle to capture what they deem the 'greatest treasure of all time' for an Englishman. Yet the greatest treasure they find is not necessarily that object itself but finding and choosing mercy that comes from selfless love. Bram and Emily's faith struggles are real, as they learn to trust, forgive, and always choose mercy.

I loved Bram's rambling third person narrative; it made me feel like I was right there beside him to experience his kindness, thoughtfulness, tenderness, scholarly wonderings, and reconciliation of justice and mercy. Emily was a lovely woman with a heart of gold and I really enjoyed the subplot of her maid Thomasina finding her own peace and helping others like herself. Bram and Emily's banter is absolutely delicious and their romance is sweet and enchanting. Oliver and Libby, Sheridan and Beth, Casek and Mabena all get their happily-ever-afters here as well, which should completely satisfy fans of the series.

This beautifully crafted tale of "a kind-hearted lady and a noble-hearted lord" will indeed sweep you off your feet to early 1900s Isles of Scilly to enthrall you. I received the book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.

Worthy of Legend was a unique story and one that I enjoyed reading. I found Bram and Emily's relationship to be sweet and I was happy that she had someone to care for her when she needed it most.

The treasure hunt aspect was interesting and I liked how quickly that aspect moved along. It made the story easy to read and one that you didn't want to put down for long.

All in all, Worthy of Legend was a good read and conclusion to this series. I really enjoyed it and look forward to seeing what Roseanna M. White writes next.

"Live the legacy . . . Walk worthy of His calling. Go forth boldly - and live."

At one time, the Earl of Teleford, "Bram Sinclair", might have politely scoffed at those words, but not anymore. He "wanted his legacy to be championing those who needed it, righting a few wrongs, charging boldly to slay whatever dragons awaited him". After all, he had become a secret admirer of King Arthur and his brave knights all those years ago . . . actually he still was, if the truth were known, which it wasn't yet . . .but soon would be.

And his "damsel in distress"? None other that the lovely ginger topped Lady Emily Scofield, whose own legacy of kindness was being trampled by her vile brother; Nigel's thirst for treasure-hunting had turned into a deadly obsession. When Bram and Emily charade a romantic bond in order to protect Emily from her powerful father's schemes, their feelings unexpectedly entwine, for who knew that the crabby day-time Bram could actually transform into a companion most tender, as evidenced by these words of worth; "You, Lady Emily Scofield, are an absolute delight, and no one in his or her right mind could possibly do anything other than crave your company".

Readers will love being privy to this amazing circle of Scilly Isles friendships, divinely connected and more precious than silver or gold. Keeping in mind . . . . there are real treasures that require quite the daring adventures . . . the kind that legends are made of.

Exquisite ending to the series! After finishing Roseanna White's newest novel, I realize once again why I have her on my favorite author list, an author whose books immediately move to the top of my overwhelming pile of books.

Ms. White's skill as a writer is appreciated within her beautiful stories, well-paced plots and authentic characters. While this is the third book in the series, each can be read as a standalone yet will be appreciated more if one has read the first two books. The whole cast of characters is endearing and there are several plots woven together. It was great to have glimpses of characters from the previous novels. Emily and Bram's along with Tommie and Enyon's stories will touch readers hearts. Bram is the newest of heroes to be added to a shortlist of favorite fictional heroes.

This is a wonderful story of realizing how one's worth is measured and what is truly noble. There are so many powerful truths woven within the strands of this story that moved me to tears. That is the power of a truly gifted author.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author/publisher and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

I'm going to need a period of recovery after this one....
I need to start by saying that Mrs. Roseanna M. White is a fabulous storyteller, and often I have to remind myself that these are not works of non-fiction as her words and plots are highly realistic.
But that said, she also doesn't stray from hard topics, as this included. But goodness me, this series hit it out of the park.

٭ 𝙼𝚜. 𝙴𝚖𝚒𝚕𝚢 𝚂𝚌𝚘𝚝𝚏𝚒𝚎𝚕𝚍 ٭
Boy, idk, I expected a lot less from her than I got. She's suffering under a toxic family, but still wants their love and wants to give her's. She's very timid around men as she knows how some of them may act, but under it all she only wants to live her life righteously and un-afraid. Overall? A very relatable and realistic character whom I wish to see more of.

This dude... is quite legendary in my books. He's almost too perfect 🤔
Anyhoo, I loved the way that he would see Emily's flaws and then help her to grow strong with them, but then while he wanted to protect her he would always tell her that she is strong and worthy.
Overall? Inspirational and a great reminder of what Christ calls us to do in lifting each other up and distributing mercy to those in our eyes who are undeserving.

Her courage is beyond words. Even though she's faced a horrible kind of violence she chooses to wake up everyday and live for her family and friends, even going beyond to help another overcome the same scenario. The way she cares and the way that she truly chooses to overcome every single day, it's inspiring.

Overall, I'm sad to see this series end. I rather enjoyed the way that it was hopeful but still had deep themes that will stay with me for long after I finished this. And the characters were friends aplenty and I'll definitely need to reread book one again. Throughout the series I couldn't help but quite literally laugh, cry, and ponder along with these beautiful characters.
I also would recommend this book to any aspiring authors and she demonstrated how to handle hard situations well.

𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭:
Language: One or two what the devils but besides that none

I’m so horribly sad that this series is over. It’s hard to compare this with my other favorite of Roseanna’s A Name Unknown, but this might tie for first place.

This past series has hit on some of my favorite things with nature elements and the Lord’s creation adding it’s voice as another character in the story.

I didn’t think book two could be topped, but this one just hit ALL the right notes. The chivalrous main character paired with the tales of King Arthur and the legends of the round table, as well as our other MC who is in desperate need of a knight in shining armor… I’m not sure it gets much better than this.

The large cast only adds to the charm as the myriad of voices and characters we have come to know and love over the course of the series play off each other so well. I’ve never found myself swooning and laughing so much over a book. This definitely hit the top three of the year for me. I honestly can’t recommend it enough.

If you are looking for Christian fiction that hits all the right notes, doesn’t shy away from tough topics, keeps you turning pages, and has deep themes without being too “preachy” (whatever that means) Basically, that is perfection, then you will want to read this series!

It’s taking a place as a favorite that I can’t wait to share with anyone and everyone who will listen.

Roseanna White never fails to disappoint me. She is one of the few Christian fiction authors that I can pick up with confidence, and so I love receiving ARCs of her newest books.

My absolute favorite thing about her writing style is her characters. They are so three-dimensional and real, and their dialogue (external or internal) consistently makes me laugh. We had already met Bram and Emily in the first books of this series, but since they were in the spotlight, we got to really get to know them on a deeper level. I loved how their relationship progressed, and they were just genuinely darling characters.

This was a beautiful conclusion to The Secrets of the Isles series. The overarching plot was wrapped up nicely, I loved getting to see how all of the relationships progressed throughout the series. Roseanna did such an amazing job describing the Isles of Scilly, and I learned so many things about cairns and King Arthur and the isles in general, and now I'm absolutely dying to go and experience it myself. I will say that Beth and Sheridan were my favorite couple (he had so many truly iconic lines, and I spent half of the book laughing), so To Treasure an Heiress was probably my favorite of the series, but this one was delightful too.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own, and I am writing a voluntary review.

Though each book in this series can be read as a standalone, it will be best appreciated when read in order.

Ever since I’ve met Bram in book one, he came across as serious, but steady. The trustworthy friend and protective brother. Shy Emily was clearly forgotten by her family, but a character I wanted to know more about.

Their story was sweet, heartbreaking, brought some tears to my eyes, but also heartwarming and hopeful. Emily endured so much growing up, her story tugging at my heartstrings throughout this story. I loved how Bram saw behind her walls and helped her seeing past the lies her family proclaimed over her, to see her truth worth according to God.

But one couldn’t expect seeds to sprout up immediately. One could only plant them, water them, and pray the Lord would give an increase.

Bram was the very dashing protector, but also with so much more. I loved his love for dogs and his interest in all things King Arthur.

There was danger, adventure, found artifacts but also a deeper message hidden between this story.

I enjoyed how in each book, there was two love stories, one between the ladies and gents, and one between the servants.

It is shackles that will drag you down. Don’t let it. That shame is not yours. That guilt is not yours.

The spiritual theme of loving unconditionally and showing mercy was strong and made this thread the strongest for me in the series.

Because mercy isn’t for those who deserve it—it’s for those who don’t.

A recommended historical adventure!

I cannot say enough good things about this story. In this last of the series, the friends continue on their quest for pirate treasure.
Ms. White delves deep into the lives of the people she portrays, whether to show their stellar qualities or reveal the scoundrel within. I love the way she crafts her characters, giving them layers and a spiritual journey. Bram is kind, gracious and insightful: *Mercy is not for those who deserve it-it is for those who don’t.” “How did mercy and justice meet? With pain and sacrifice. And beauty beyond anything he had ever seen.” “if I am unwilling to extend mercy, then... perhaps I blind my own eyes to seeing where God extends it to me too.” Emily is cowed by her brother and father but manages to learn how to stand up for herself. And she sees God providing for her.
Danger is ever present as the group of friends uncover a fascinating twist in their endeavor to find Mucknell’s pirate stash. Another legend of epic proportions makes its way known.
Ms. White has put together a grand tale that ticks all the boxes. If you are looking for a history lesson or a great romance ot two, enjoy following Bram, Emily and their friends as they search for answers to a haunting legend or two and find themselves and their purpose in the process.
I am sorry to say goodbye to this series. It makes me want to visit the Scilly Islands and search for treasure!

I learn so much about nuances of history and places when I read something by Roseanna White. Back in the Scillies the treasure hunt adventures continue among the group of friends. I'm cheering for good to win over evil, love to prevail over hatred, and time to heal wounded hearts and souls. Bravo!

“That takes a special kind of heart. To love where hatred would come so naturally and so deservedly.”

In Worthy of Legend, we return to the beautiful islands of Scilly for the fabulous conclusion to an amazing series. This is one of my favorite Roseanna M. White series mainly because of the unique setting, treasure seeking storyline, and the heartfelt characters. I’m honestly sad to see it come to an end. With plenty of action, adventure, romance, and inspiration, the heroes perform one last mission to find a legendary treasure from King Arthur himself before Nigel Scofield and his father find it first. This book is definitely a must read and a fitting ending to cap off the series.

I loved Bram and Emily’s story! There is so much to learn from these two. Though Bram doesn’t like the comparison, he truly is a knight in shining armor. He’s a secret expert on the legends of King Arthur. When there’s a possible treasure relating to King Arthur on the island, he uses his expertise to discern what it is and help find it. In the first two books, Bram comes off as a bit of a bear, but he definitely has a tender heart hidden underneath. His chivalry and love of candy, especially chocolate drops endeared him to me.

Lady Emily Scofield is Nigel’s sister. She’s been mistreated and bullied by him since they were children. Emily feels abandoned by her family when she sides with her friends and aids them in their treasure search. She wants nothing more than to feel the love of family. Instead, she’s met with anger and manipulation. Her father literally cuts her off with no money to survive until she capitulates to his desires. Through it all though Emily maintains her sweetness and forgiving attitude. She’s such a genuinely good person.

Emily brings out Bram’s protective side. He’s always willing to fight for the defenseless and abandoned. He’s constantly taking in stray puppies and questions if this feeling growing between him and Emily is love. I loved how he finally realizes the truth. It’s a slow burn romance that grows from friendship and service. I enjoyed the way Emily’s unconditional love really changes Bram. I also loved how Bram builds up Emily’s confidence in herself.

There’s also a secondary romance between Tommie, Emily’s personal maid, and Enyon Thorne, Oliver Tremayne’s best friend. Tommie doubts her worthiness for love. Enyon is so patient and willing to look beyond what others might see. He’s non-judgmental and gives Tommie the time and space to realize his unconditional love.

This book is a little slower paced than the previous two, but it builds to a climactic final showdown. The inspirational messages of unconditional love, forgiveness, and ultimately the ability to choose for oneself were expertly woven into the story. It was fun to see all the couples together again and secondary characters like Sheridan’s sisters with brief appearances from Mamm-wynn and Senara,

All in all, a great conclusion to a much loved series. This book could be read as a standalone, but it’s much better if you’ve read the previous books. I’m hoping we’ll get other stories or spinoffs from this series. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author and publisher. All opinions are my own and I was not required to provide a positive review. 4 1/2 stars.

Content: There is some violence. Two characters allude to being sexually assaulted but no details are given. The situation is handled sensitively and in an inspiring way.

Worthy of Legend is the final installment of The Secrets of the Isles series.

I really enjoyed returning to the beautiful island setting, getting to know these characters better, and seeing all the characters from previous books (mostly Sheridan and his sisters, they're my favorites).

This is told from three POV. Lady Emily, Lord Telford (Bram), and Tommie ( Lady Emily's ladies maid). While I loved the love interest for Tommie, I honestly would have preferred if her POV was cut down so we could see more of Emily and Bram.

I loved each character. Emily is so sweet and her desire to show Christ's love to her family, especially her sinister brother, is admirable.

The book is full of themes of mercy, justice, and loving others despite themselves, as Christ did for us.

My biggest complaint is that we didn't really get enough of Bram and Emily together. They spent most of the book apart and I wanted to see them together more so we could really get a feel of their love for one another. I loved them when they were together, but I felt like we missed a lot of their connection.

Overall, it was an amazing conclusion to the series! I would love to see a spin-off of Beth & Sheridan's archeological adventures 😍

absolutely beautiful novel

I can honestly say I have loved every book I’ve read by Roseanna White, no matter the era or setting. This one was sweet, but with so much depth and truth entwined throughout.

Oh this was just a perfect way to end a wonderful series! I have so enjoyed this series and I am sad to see these characters go. Worthy of Legend is the third book in Roseanna M White’s The Secrets of the Isles, and best read in order.
I have been waiting for Bram’s book. It was fun to get to know him through his sister and best friend’s eyes, but it was different reading through his perspective. Bram was a bit of a grumpy character but there was much hidden behind his grumpiness. He was kind and he truly loved his sister. I loved how Bram was aware of others and how he wanted to show Emily that she was loved. It was so sweet to read about him falling for Emily and trying his best to care for her.
Emily was a sweetheart to read about. I loved her character and hair growth. She had been belittled all her life and yet she was trying to stand up for herself and fight for what was right. I enjoyed reading about Emily. She tried to get out of her shell and even do hard things, like befriending her maid. She was scared of letting people know they would leave, but she was learning to try. Emily had to learn to trust God and what it meant to love even those who hurt her.
Emily and Bram were just the cutest together! I loved their relationship and how they brought out the best in each other. They were both learning to trust God’s plans even when life was changing. I also enjoyed their interactions and easy banter
The plot was so engaging and I was not sure how this book was going to end! It was definitely exciting to read as they searched for the treasure. I also adored the side characters and the side romance! On my goodness, it was so cute and a wonderful addition to the study. I would warn though there is mention of sexual abuse, nothing shown just implied. However all in all this was a wonderful book and it was such a joy to read!
Worthy of Legend was a legendary book and my new favorite by White! I mean her book just keeps on getting better! I am excited to see what she will write next. This book needs to be on your TBR. Worthy of Legend is a clean historica Christian book however there is mentions of sexual abuse, physical abuse and some violence. I would recommend it to those at least 13 years and older

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher through Netgalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, a positive review was not required. .

Worthy of Legend was a beautiful and heartfelt conclusion to Roseanna M. White's fourth trilogy set in Georgian Britain. The Isles of Scilly, to be exact. Of course, I loved Bram. He’s a literature nerd with a secret obsession with the Arthurian Legends.

His best friend is an amateur archaeologist with a special interest in the history of the druids and the Arthurian Legends. He's a nerd like me, and he loves animals. He rescues puppies. Can this man get any more adorable? Sighhhs. Emily is great too, she’s a young woman rejected by her family who is trying to escape their reputation and the illegal actions of her brother. She struggles with her duty to love her family (and her sibling) and doing the right thing.

The title of the story is very clever. Legends are a huge part of the story, first there is the Legend of Lyonesse, a stretch of land which was supposed to extended out from Cornwall as far as the Isles of Scilly. Legend has it that Lyonesse was submerged by a giant wave in a single day as divine punishment for a terrible sin committed by the people, and all that remained were the tops of the mountains as the Islands. Yes, I looked it up. I knew nothing about the Legend of Lyonesse before reading this. Better still, one of King Arthur’s knights, Tristan was said to have hailed from the lost Kingdom. As in Tristan and Isolde.

Along with that though there is an underlying theme about the legacy of one’s family and the choices of the past. Legends are not just stories: the legacy of the past can impact the present, and what the artefact they are hunting represents can bring out the best – and worst- in people. In the end, the story is not just about the legends or the legendary artefact. This is best illustrated in a quote from the story:

“I want to believe some bit of the legends are true, and that we can aspire to that nobility. But on the other hand, . . . we’ve seen today what can happen to men thanks to greed and ambition and the lust for fame”

Emily and Bram prove themselves to be Worthy of Legend when they choose to follow the path of mercy, love, faith, and forgiveness even when greeted with hatred, tragedy, and rejection. Even when it is hard- sometimes impossible, to follow and they falter. Oh, and this series is worth it just for the presence of Mamwen, the eccentric grandmother like figure who seems to know everyone and have a certain knack for knowing what is going to happen. She’s not in this much, but any is better than none.

Recommended for all lovers of historical fiction, and those who might want something that’s different from the rest of the Georgian Downton Abbey style stories out there. This one has lost treasure, adventure, and mystery too. Also there are hardly any novels set on the small archipelago in the Celtic Sea known as the Isles of Scilly.

Thanks to Bethany House for providing an EPub of this title. I was not required to write a positive review and all opinions expressed are my own.

I enjoyed this one the most out of the series. I was a bit nervous going into it as the first one I had theological issues with and the second one felt a bit cliche, and this one had a bit of both, but I so enjoyed Bram and Emily's characters. They were the most understated of the bunch, yet that made them all the more relatable. Their relationship was focused on personalities, making them the couple with the least amount of chemistry and physical attraction, but I so enjoyed a romantic pair where they admired and loved each other for who they were, not simply what they looked like - which, to be fair, is one of the points of this book.

The phrase "you are worthy" is often repeated by many of the cast to various characters, which is not entirely a period-appropriate one nor is it biblical. That theme runs throughout the story, and every time someone told Emily that, I kept wanting to jump in and correct that.

As with the other two books, this one has 2 couples, but only 3 points of view. I skimmed the second couple's scenes as I was more interested in the mystery. I really liked Bram, and his character is much more developed than in the previous books. As I said before, he and Emily really learned to appreciate each other's personalities over focusing on physical attraction for much of the romance. Definitely enjoyed this book. I'm glad I stuck out the series.

Content Notes:

Violence: Trigger Warning & **SPOILER**

Sexual assault and trauma both play a big role in this story. It is not described in detail graphically, but dealing with the trauma and the grieving process is detailed.

Literally was the verge of sobbing

At the end of this book, I had buried my face into the pages and was laughing but it was like the almost laugh-sob thing.
*deep breath*
When I was laugh-sobbing, all that could go through my head was, “When is it my turnnnnnnn?!” Because good romance books always make me want to sCrEaM.
Gosh, I love LOVE LOVEEEEE this storyyyyyy!!!!!! I was not expecting to love it so much but I didddd!!!
I mean I finished it in a day so that should say something.
I also wasn’t expecting to love Bram as much as I did either. See, gruff people are hard to be around, in my personal opinion. But when I get to know said gruff people, usually the men, I often find that they are some of the sweetest people that I will ever meet.
And that’s exactly what Bram wasssss ahhhhhhh!!!! *laugh-sob-sighs*
I love seeing redheaded female characters in books as a redhead, myself, I don’t see enough of them in tales such as these. So immediately, I loved Emily. And in some ways, I relate to her. That way of tongue freezing when I want to speak up for myself or my loved ones, but I—er—we just can’t. But I do have a limit eventually. She was so sweet until the end, but if I were in her shoes, I do believe I would’ve bitten the antagonists heads off.
And Emily and Bram were just *laugh-sobs* so so so perfect that it’s so so so unfair.
I was skeptical of this series first, and I didn’t love the first book. But it gradually got better and now, I have a few new book boyfriends/husbands to add to my collection.

The final book in Roseanna White's Secrets Of The Isles series is Worthy Of Legend. I have really enjoyed spending time in the Scilly Isles. I had never heard of them before reading this series, but I would love to see them in person now. It was very interesting to learn some of the histories of the Isles. The Isles belong to the Duchy of Cornwall, presently owned by Prince William, The Duke Of Cornwall.

The story is very engaging with well-developed characters. I enjoyed the treasure hunt. I have always been a fan of King Arthur so it was a fun twist to involve him in the plot.

I believe my favorite part of the story is the way Roseanna has her characters share their faith. All in all, I am sorry that this is the final book in the series.

I do recommend that you read all three books in order. So grab some tea and biscuits, then settle in for a grand adventure.

I was given a copy of this book by the publisher with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

So good! This was such a delightful conclusion to a rollicking adventure of a series! I loved these characters (both the "leading" and "supporting" couples) before Book 3 even began, and I loved them even more as this story unfurled. Roseanna White has once again delivered a fun story packed with adventure and laced with humor, finally coming to a satisfying yet bittersweet close. I'm not quite ready to say goodbye to these friends or their island home, but grateful for the sweet reminders their stories gave that can be applied to my own heart and mind. Don't miss this series!

This was a sweet Christian romance which a good storyline and interesting characters. I haven't read the previous two books in the series, but I was able to follow along and connect the pieces from the other two stories within the first third of the book so I did not feel lost. The pacing really picked up for me around the middle and I enjoyed the way the romance developed more towards the end. The aspects with hidden treasure and connections to King Arthur were fascinating and I was intrigued and wanted to know more as I read.
There are some inspiring themes about forgiveness, love, and mercy.

A wonderful conclusion to the series! I have enjoyed all of Roseanna White's series, but this one just might be my favorite. From the first book to the last, they are filled with adventure, mystery, danger, and sweet romance.

I loved both Emily and Bram in this story. I was eager to learn more about Emily, and my heart broke for the struggles she faced with regard to her family, particularly her brother. I admired her willingness to love him despite the cruel things he had done to her. And Bram was such a good match for her-noble, brave, and quick to reassure her that he loved her exactly for the person she was. As always in Ms. White's books, the threads of faith are woven beautifully through the pages of this story. I am sad to see this series come to an end, but I'm definitely excited for Ms. White's next book!

A positively fantastic finale to The Secrets of the Isles series! I really enjoyed Emily and Bram's story and their search for the treasure that Emily's brother is also searching for. There were a lot of exciting moments in the story which made it hard to put down. Emily's backstory as well as Tommie's gave an added layer of danger to story as well. What a great read!

Wonderful wrap-up to the series!!

"Bram Sinclair, Earl of Telford, despised a bully."
"Lady Emily Scofield needed someone to protect her, to champion her, especially now that her father and brother were on the islands. And Bram seemed to be the only one available for the job . Which was fine— he had plenty of practice, both with fending off bullies and nursing back to health the puppies they tended to kick."

I really enjoyed Bram. In fact all 3 heroes in the series were exactly what I would hope for, each in their own ways.
The villains are appropriately villainous 🤭 and the sub-plots/characters add extra depth to the story. Lady Emily finds strength and courage as the story develops and she IS grace.

I was REALLY moved by the secret that Bram unlocked (no spoilers).

This book had plenty of faith elements that I quite appreciated and the scenery was great.

I also look forward to comedy in a book:
“My lord, if you don’t stand still, I’m going to throttle you with this bow tie instead of tying it—and it’ll be purely accidental, I assure you.”

Highly recommend entire series for those who both enjoy historical fiction as well as an elevated writing style.

I received an eVersion of this book for my honest opinion. All thoughts are mine alone without expectation or compensation.

I loved this final installment in the Secrets of the Isles trilogy by Rosanna M White. I was so glad to get to read Bram and Emily’s story. Both of them have been important secondary characters in the first two novels and now it’s their time to shine. Emily is truly an inspiring character; even though she’s cut off from her family at the beginning of the story, and this causes her great anxiety, she does not give up on her convictions and standing for truth. Even though that means going against her father and brother who are only out for selfish gain. I’m not so sure that I would have the same strength of character as her. Bram is also an inspiring character – he may even be one of my top favorite romantic heroes now! Although he would have to share his chocolate with me, haha. His love of the legends of King Arthur have a positive effect on him as he is very chivalrous and gentlemanly towards most, especially Emily. As they continue the treasure hunt, the stakes rise until they must decide what will honoring to God, and worthy of legend? Both Emily and Bram put it all on the line- and again I really don’t know if I would be up for such a challenge! I really adored these characters and how their lives intertwined, and challenged me as a Christian. I also enjoyed the search for the last of the treasure, and seeing the characters from the first two books. I’m sad that this is the end of the adventures! This has been such a fun series that I’ve truly enjoyed. This is a cast of characters I will not soon forget.

Another exciting adventure from Roseanna White!
Piracy, romance, adventure all wrapped up into one? What more could a reader want!
Love loved this novel that I couldn't put down until the end.
Most exciting book I've read yet by this author. She definitely deserves 5 stars for this one.
She left me thinking about Bram and Lady Emily long after the book was done.
I've enjoyed this series a lot!
I highly recommend!

Roseanna M. White is an author that never fails to entertain. Her latest series concludes with this novel, allowing the reader to experience the finale of the treasure hunt along with the characters we have gotten to know. This particular novel is Emily and Bram’s story, beautiful in its unexpected sweetness to the two of them and fulfilling to us as readers.

I cannot even imagine being Emily. She may have all the things money can buy, but what she wants most is kept from her: love. Not necessarily romantic love, though the possibility of that could be taken away as well if her domineering father continues to use her to further his ambition. Yet her very invisibility within her family makes her a particularly poignant character, especially as others see her worth readily.

I love how she looks at history, at what she thinks is important. It stems from her past in many ways, but it also gives her a beautiful way to look at others, to value them despite appearance or whether they have any display-able qualities. Everyday items and people captivate her, and I love that she maintained her kindness despite her upbringing.

Bram is a bit her opposite, at least outwardly. His grumpy exterior hides a golden heart and he immediately wants to shield Emily from things that would hurt her. At first it seems as if his interest is merely for another living creature, but the reader glimpses his heart earlier than he does.

Love plays an important part in this novel. Of course there is the romantic thread, but the love of family is highlighted throughout, both in its beauty and in its lack. Loving others as they are is valued, demonstrated by the love God has for us, even when we were His enemies. This is undoubtedly a high standard and it is refreshing to see the characters realistically struggle with it, just as many of us do daily.

There really is so much to love about this book: characters who breathe from the pages, a compelling plot that culminates in dramatic and exciting fashion, history and fiction blended together seamlessly, and an underlying faith message that does not preach but impacts the characters and their decisions in realistic ways. While I have enjoyed every book I have read by this author, this one is my new favorite and I give it my highest recommendation for teens and up.

I received a review copy of this book from the author and publisher but was not required to write a positive review. The opinions expressed are both honest and my own.
