Xarc'n Warriors #8

Protected by the Hunter

Rate this book

ZEC’K
Siobhan’s scent calls me to claim her, but I tell her the same lie I tell everyone else: I’m not interested in a mate. I focus on her delicious creations instead, even though she’s the one I truly crave.

I try to stay away, but I cannot. Everything draws me to her, and when I learn of her quest to find her sister, my mouth offers to help before my brain can stop it.

I’m a failed hunter, not worthy of a mate, and every moment alone with the tempting female tests my control. She thinks of me as her protector, but if she knew the thoughts I have about her, she’d run the other way.

SIOBHAN
Everyone is happily settling down in our post-apocalyptic fortress. But I can’t rest yet; I have to get to my sister. It was my last promise to her before communications went dark. Problem is, she lives across the country, and there are miles of bug-filled America between us.

When Zec’k, the sexy hunter who delivers and trades for supplies with our little colony, offers to help, I jump on the opportunity. It’s supposed to be an easy trip, but everything that could go wrong does. And now, I’m not sure I’ll survive this mission without falling for my Xarc’n guide.

New to the Xarc'n Warriors? Although this is a complete romance, it is best read as part of a series.

Alien road trip!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌎
Character development: ☺️😉😀😘

The heroine: Siobhan - When the alien insects first arrived on Earth, Siobhan and her sisters were on opposite sides of the country. Since the bugs destroyed so much of the technology, communication and transportation methods, they were stuck. Though Siobhan wants nothing more than to find her sister.

The Hero: Zec’k - he was a Xarc’n warrior but after a bad injury he quit to work for the hunters as someone who delivers food and supplies to the other warriors. Him and others that have been injured or have become older work in supply production and procurement on each of the planets they go to. They source local foods to make their high protein nutrition bars as well as weapons, translators and other products the hunters need to get the job done.

The Story: Siobhan has been attracted to Zec’k since she first saw him, but she knows that he is not one of the Xarc’n hunters that is looking for a mate. She knows he doesn’t want one, though she is still drawn to him and watches him whenever he comes to the compound where she has been living. On the other hand, Zec’k has also been drawn to Siobhan. Though he thinks he failed as a hunter and no human woman would want him as a mate.

Like the rest of the series, this book was told in dual points of view via dual narration. Troy Duran and Keira Stevens do the narration and both of them have pleasing voices which I have enjoyed throughout this series. I love the bugpocalypse plot and the storylines in each book. Each book having its own romance and different stories but all taking place in this dystopian world.

I liked these characters, both want something different than to just hunt and kill the scourge. They were both interesting characters with depth and I liked the storyline that they went to another place to look for the sister and encountered different problems than in some of the other books.

Zec'k and Siobhan for the win!
Did I find my favorite couple in this medium novella series.
Fuck yeah I did.
This is what I want in a protective male lead. He isn't afraid to get his hands dirty for his woman.
Zec'k leans more morally grey then the other golden retriever heros this series has a introduced thus far and I was so here for it.
Siobhan rode for her Hunter. She was ready to stand by him and fight with him. It was so refreshing.
This is one I would recommend.

Me gustó, me pareció un buen cierre de saga. Pero la protagonista mucho no me convence. O más bien, ella no era de mi interés.

The supply guy who keeps the hunters and humans in Franklin in food bars and chickens is up and he might be TELLING people he isn't looking for a mate, but he really feels like he's unworthy of one. Which is ridiculous, as Siobhan soon finds out, because Zec'k is a hunter to the core. He might blame himself for his injuries and what happened to his friend, but the guy has come a long way from who he was.

But let's backtrack a little before we get into that. This is the setup for the mountain hunters series and I am frankly THRILLED that we're going to see more hunters doing their thing in different locales. I mean, the Franklin group had a small town to deal with, these new hunters (and the humans harrying them) have mountains and other dangers they need to contend with. That's another story for another book, though.

Right now? We have Zec'k and Siobhan. He's a previously injured hunter who was put on supply duty since his injuries were severe enough they kept him from fighting. Frankly, the after-care for injured fighters is AWFUL for these poor hunters. Sure, they get healed up and all, but mentally they're left to figure things out and it seems like a lot of them are floundering. Zec'k is slowly let himself get back in the saddle fighting-wise, but he's still carrying around a boatload of guilt is unconsciously punishing himself for his part in his friend's death. Meaning, he doesn't allow himself to believe he deserves a mate or a functional shuttle or anything good, really.

Meanwhile, Siobhan might like the big guy and get a little flustered when he stops by with supplies, but he hasn't shown any interest, so she's resigned herself to watching him from afar. Then he offers to take her to the mountains to try to find her sister and suddenly the two are sharing space THINGS HAPPEN. Throw in some not-so-nice humans living in the mountains (seriously. not nice.) and little arena fight against bugs and, well, things move along quickly.

A lost sister, a new crew of hunters, bugs, a warrior who REALLY likes his food, and a lady who goes for it when she gets the green light. YESSSSSSS.

Siobhan and Zec’k

This is another of the great, well written,Alien/Human, SciFi romance by Lynnea Lee. This story is about Siobhan, looking for her sister and Zec’k, thinking he is not worthy of a mate and how they help each other. Some of the characters are in more of the stories. Read and enjoy.

I have loved this entire series and Lynnea Lea delivered again! A cracking story, well written and good character development. Could be read as stand alone but better in the context of the series.

Xarc’n Warriors is an 8-book (although I understand that Lynnea has plans to add more) post apocalypse series written by Lynnea Lee. The books are set on Earth, after an alien invasion from space bugs, where the few human survivors are still fighting for survival daily. The invasive species, controlled by a “queen,” have built hives inside major cities, and killed (and ate) most humans. The space bugs (aka scourge) carry an infectious and deadly bacteria. Any human that became desperate enough (from starvation) to capture and eat a scourge, turned into a heavily contagious zombie that must be avoided at all cost. The scourge will stop at nothing to return the bacteria to its hive. The remaining humans have taken refuge outside the major cities. Some forming survivalist groups and cults that stand against the Xarc’n Warriors. The Xarc’n Warriors are aliens that have come to help Earth by ridding it of their scourge infestation. The Xarc’ns, being perfect clones specifically designed to fight the bugs, reside in territories around the world. This series follows the Xarc’n Warrior group that created a safe compound inside Franklin. Xarc’n Hunter’s are over 7 feet tall, purple skin, ram-like horns sprouting from their temples, sharp teeth with fangs, and retractable claws. They all seem to have muscles on top of their muscles; no dad bods here. Their females are extinct, which is why they’ve been intrigued to match and mate with women of Earth (they are compatible and can have offspring together). But they have to travel to the mothership in order to activate their dormant mating capabilities, so no accidental pregnancies can be had.

Written in 1st person, Protected by the Hunter is book 8 (but not final) in the series and follows the Xarc’n Warrior Zec’k and his human mate Siobhan. Zec’k is a young warrior that had been placed on food distribution duty after healing from a bad injury that nearly killed him. He blamed himself for the death of his best friend, regularly had nightmares, labeled himself damaged because he no longer hunted the scourge and convinced himself that he wasn’t worthy enough for a mate. Until he smelled Siobhan. Siobhan is the sister of Morgan, who we meet in book 1 of the mountain series. I started by reading that series, then backtracked to this one, and it was oddly satisfying to make a full circle. Zec’k agreed to help Siobhan find her sister in the mountains of the Rockies. They succeeded, running into trouble along the way, and eventually fell in love and established a mate bond. She stayed with him, to cook and deliver her foods to the different settlements, and lived happily ever after.

Admittedly, I am 100% on board with the Xarc’n species. Their protective, aggressive, possessive, dominant, controlling need of need of their mate is my kind of flavor. The way they unintentionally purr, growl and roar is kinda cute too. When a mating band takes place, neither party can physically stop touching each other for a certain period of time. Which is different and quite endearing. Each section of a Xarc’n cock is shaped like a sex toy; a head with a thick ridge around the widest part and it dipped in before the next part started. Picture a butt-plug with 3 round balls, each one bigger than the last.

The book doesn’t suck; it’s filled with adventure and a little romance. I just prefer found myself a little bored with the redundant story. I recommend reading, at least once. Onto the next book in the series…

Zec'k is a Xarc'n warrior who used to be a hunter. He and his best friend went up against a swarm that was too big from them to handle. His friend died and Zec'k was badly hurt. He held the record for the most time in a healing bed and is left with a lot of scars and guilt. Now he runs a supply shuttle delivering to scattered groups of warriors. One of his favorite stops is Franklin because of a beautiful baker there. He knows that they could be mates but he feels unworthy of her because of his scars and loss of some of his old abilities. He keeps telling people that he isn't looking for a mate but he can't stop looking at Siobhan. When Siobhan talks about going searching for her sister across the country, he offers to help her out. The time they spend together draws them closer but can Zec'k keep denying their fate?

Siobhan was a baker before the alien insects arrived. Her little sister left home for a cabin in the woods after their parents died. When the bugs arrived, Siobhan's sister Morgan invited Siobhan to stay with her in the mountains but Siobhan left it until it was too late. After some hard times, Siobhan is happy where she ended up. She has found a community of friends who are like family to her. They all work together and she enjoys baking for every one. She appreciates the hunters that help keep them safe. She is fascinated by Zec'k who delivers supplies. She wishes that he would choose her as a mate but he repeatedly says he doesn't want a mate. The only other thing missing in her life is her sister. She wants to go find her sister and bring her back to Franklin. When Zec'k offers his assistance, she is excited. However the trip is a lot more dangerous than she imagined. Luckily she has Zec'k to protect her.

Siobhan is living in the compound in New Franklin with the human and Xarc warriors. The first time she met Zec’k when he was delivering supplies, she was immediately attracted to him. He on the other hand seems to avoid all of the females there, claiming he doesn’t want a mate. He does like her food so she gets to see him each time he comes.

Zec’ks thinks Siobhan is his mate, but he denies it to himself because he feels he doesn’t deserve her. He hasn’t been able to work as a warrior since he was severely wounded many years ago. That’s why he is the one to deliver supplies and food instead of fighting the bugs. On his latest trip he hears Siobhan talking about her sister and how she wants to go and find her and bring her to New Franklin, but she doesn’t have any way to get to where she thinks her sister is. Zec’k hears himself offering to take her. She accepts his offer before he has a chance to think of a way out of it. How is he going to survive on his small shuttle with her is such close quarters.

Of course what should have been a quick trip that took no more than a couple days is immediately derailed when Siobhan is captured by raiders. This book is full of action and surprises. A must read!

Siobahn is so thankful for the hunters and all that they have done to protect her but is determined to find her sister. She is very fond of all her friends in New Franklin but it is not the same as knowing what happened to Morgan. Added to that most of the women are all happily mated to their Xarc'n warriors which leaves her out in the cold somewhat, not purposefullly but it is the truth none the less. She will not be turned back or disuaded by bugs and she will go it alone if she has to to get to her sibling, not matter what although she will miss the big purple warrior who does the delivery run. Well she thinks that she will until he offers to take her. Now all she has to do is make it alive and with her heart intact. Rec'k pretty much knows that Siobahn is his mate. He's battled with it and himself since he came to the realisation and while he will do all he can to help her, he will not claim her. He can't. He won't tie her to a worthless hunter for the rest of her life. He may be unworthy but he still has his honour. That said being in his sleeping nook in his ship with her for all that time is sure to push him to his limits. This is as close as he'll ever get to have a mate and he'll cherish it while it lasts even though it will rip his heart out when he has to leave her. Will fate win out over both of them though?

Stubborn but sweet

I really enjoyed these two. We'd seen hints of them in other books so it was great to have them finally get the spotlight. Siobhan is so thoughtful and caring. How could a bakery owner not be sweet? I love her attitude.

Normally Zec'k's 'I'm not good enough' attitude would dive me nuts. But he felt like such a complex character that I didn't mind. I love how good he was at working with a variety of groups and spreading information. He's thoughtful, even if he thinks of himself last. And he is a fierce fighter. I loved every single fight scene with him.

This world is really well thought out and defined. I loved reading all their travel and how the different groups work. And how much terrain and rural vs urban setting matter. Plus, getting to see a bit more about the motherships, which fascinate me for some reason.

Lastly, I like how the book highlights the best and the worst of people. And I can't wait for the next series. This was a great set-up novel for the spin-off.

Spoilery rant about people!!!!

Zec'k was a Hunter who was retired after being seriously injured. Now he delivers supplies to Hunters across the continent. His body may have healed but the survivor's guilt has left him feeling unworthy as a hunter. He may want Siobhan but he doesn't feel he is worthy or deserving of having a mate.

Siobhan was a baker and ran her own shop before the bugapocolypse. Now she works to create tasty food from the meager supplies available. She's sweet and loves creating tasty food for people. She's had a crush on Zec'k since she met him but he insists he's not looking for a mate.

Ever since travel and communication ended, Siobhan has wanted to find her sister in the Rockies. Zec'k volunteers to take her on what should have been an uneventful trip, hoping they can find her sister alive and he can avoid bonding to her. So many things go wrong on their trip but even with the challenges they face, Lee delivers a sweet, heartwarming love story as Siobhan helps Zec'k heal and believe in his own worth again, as they fall in love.

Every story in this series seems to be better than the last. Sexy alien protector, bug battles and a heartwarming love story to make you feel a little gooey inside.

One of my favorites in the series thus far😍😍

Zec’k is a Xarc 'n warrior that feels unworthy to be a mate. He has been completely attracted to Siobhan one of the survivors but he forced himself to leave her alone. He enjoys being in her presences and eating the delicious food she cooks but wants her to have a warrior she can be proud of. He believes because of one past mistake that he is no longer a warrior who deserves a mate. Siobhan has been attracted to Zec’k for along time but she knows he doesn't want a mate. When he offers to help her find her sister who was last seen in the Do my mountains she jumps at the chance to no only find her sister but to spend time with the warrior she's crouching on. The minutes they leave the compound it's one dating escape after another. Danger follows them everywhere, but it's the way her warrior feels about himself that shocks Siobhan. And she's determined to show him just how worthy he is. The chemistry between Zec’k and Siobhan is palpable and smoulders and when it finally ignites its hotter than 🔥! The relationship building was great and learning to forgive yourself and allow love to heal was a well done theme! I highly recommend you give this story a read. It also sets you up for the spin off series. Can't wait!🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖💖🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖🔥

It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life for the people of New Franklin

This is the eighth book in the Xarc’n Warrior series. So far, all the bugpocalypse stories have been centered around the town of New Franklin and the struggles of the people in that area while they fight the giant bugs. This story is a departure, literally, because the author takes us on a cross country journey with Siobhan and Zec’k.

Siobhan lost touch with her sister when the bugpocalypse happened. Zec’k offered to take her to Colorado to find her. Zec’k and Siobhan had been attracted to each other for a while now but Zec’k never did anything about it because he had some past trauma he needed to work through. On their adventure to Colorado, they encountered all sorts of challenges they had to fight their way out of like malfunctioning transports, hostile humans and giant bugs. Through it all, Siobhan helped Zec’k rediscover in himself the person he thought was gone. I really liked how the story ended. Siobhan and Zec’k got their happy ending but so did the people of New Franklin. Looks like future stories are going to go cross country now.

A Cute, Feel Good Alien Romance

If you are looking for a sweet, low drama alien romance series, the Xarc’n Warriors books are made for you.

This most recent book follows Siobhan, a human woman, and Z’eck, a Xarc’n Warrior delivery guy. There’s relatively little resistance for these two to come together and they are a very sweet couple. I enjoyed seeing a different side of Xarc’n lifestyle (supply delivery versus hunting), as well as other settlements. Siobhan is a brave woman with lots of grit and she and Z’eck play off each other’s strengths. It’s a fairly quick read, and I’d say medium spicy. Of course it has a HEA ending.

This book can be read as a standalone, but I do recommend that you read at least the first book in the series before you read this book (book 8). Book 1 contains a lot of exposition about the post-apocalyptic world, humans, the Scourge, and the Xarc’n Warriors - all of which is helpful when reading book 8.

I received a free (ARC) copy of this book through Book Sprout, and I am voluntarily leaving a review. However, I have previously read and enjoyed several books in this series through Kindle Unlimited, and I look forward to reading and purchasing other books by this author.

5/5 ⭐️

Once again, Lee gave us an incredible story! I loved this entire series, and this book’s characters, Siobhan and Zec’k, were a wonderful pairing. At first, Zec’k believed he didn’t deserve a mate because of a terrible incident in his past. He felt he was unworthy and tried to deny his feelings for Siobhan, but when his little female wanted to go on a journey to find her sister, he was forced to confront his feelings. I always loved the forced proximity trope, and this just further justified my interest.

Throughout the story, Siobhan and Zec’k balanced each other out wonderfully. His lack of confidence in himself was heartbreaking, but Siobhan helped him regain it slowly every time he protected her. He validated her need to find her sister and comforted her when she thought she did something to get them into danger. By listening, comforting, and relying on each other, they became stronger both individually and together.

On another note, their spicy scenes were lovely to read. Since Zec’k thought he didn’t deserve her and held back from acting on his feelings, it created a lovely tension for both characters.

I loved this series so much, so I will definitely read it again in the future.

Lynnea Lee once again brings us into the world of the Xarc'n warriors in their quest to protect Earthlings and get rid of the scourge.
Zec'k was a hunter, but several years ago he made a decision that caused the death of his best friend and ever since he's felt unworthy of anything. He now works as a mobile shopping center delivering supplies to the various colonies and compounds. At one - he catches the eye of Siobhan whose culinary creations are becoming the talk of the town. Zec'k loves his food and even though he has sworn he will never take a mate - he is drawn to her. The journey they embark on to locate her long lost sister brings them into situations where they need to rely on each other. All the time Zec'k is fighting the magnetic draw of the mate bond. Will he succumb or will he let Siobhan walk away? Will Siobhan find her sister and how will they decide their futures?
The story is just as riveting as all previous ones in this series and Lynnea Lee has become one of my favorite authors.

Having enjoyed other Xarc’n Warrior stories in this series I can now happily add this book Protected by the Hunter as another outstanding read.
This edition definitely satisfied my bookish desire to be transported away into a story for a few hours of decadent enjoyment. The storyline continues on an Earth that’s been ravaged by the invasion of BIG nasty alien bugs which the Xarc’n have tracked here in their never-ending quest to eradicate the species.
For the Xarc’n though a surprise bonus was finding mates amongst the human females.
This narrative focuses on Siobhan and Zec’k and follows their adventure together as it takes them across an America that’s surely seen some better times in search of Siobhan’s sister.
With great writing, an engaging storyline and two very likable leads this fast-paced Sci-Fi Romance was a definite winner for me!

Muscled, purple, hot, growly alien protector with horns and special eggplant - that says it all! Zec'k is a Xarc'n hunter who delivers supplies to settlements across the country to support the war efforts. He doesn't consider himself worthy due to his past experiences of neither a better cargo transport nor of a human bond mate. Siobhan is a cook in the New Franklin settlement and she finds herself tongue tied whenever Zec'k is around. Zec'k tells himself that he keeps coming to the settlement because he loves Siobhan's food, especially her pie. The two are going to be forced into close proximity with one another when they embark on a cross country, action-packed journey to find Siobhan's sister. They'll battle humans and the bugpocalypse to create their own brand of HEA. This is the 8th book in series and while it can be read as a standalone, it's even better when read in order as some characters/events have developed throughout the series.

Another great addition to this series. We are back in Franklin and a new couple to follow as they survive the bugpocalypse.

Zec'k is a Xarc'n who delivers supplies to the hunters. He has a taste for human food and it gives him a reason to be around Siobhan besides wanting to be there. After hearing he travels near where her sister last was, Zec'k agrees to take Sionhan with him and help reunite her with her sister.

Such a simple plan, but woah do things go wrong from there. I was amazed at the curve balls being thrown at them. The icing on the cake was getting to meet new settlements of hunters. I look forward to reading their stories too.

Even with the crazy need to survive, this series is all about hope and not just living but thriving. I am in awe of what the inhabitants of Franklin have been able to build by joining together.

I loved this book. It's one of my favorite series and I'm always so excited when a new one comes out. This series has such great world building. I found this book particularly fascinating since we're traveling across the country in search of Siobhan's sister rather than focusing more on the survival of a specific group. I particularly loved Zec'k. He's the male that's been transporting food and supplies to the different Hunter groups. I was very much looking forward to his story, as he clearly leads a different life than the Hunters we know. He believes himself unworthy of anything that brings comfort and joy due to combat injuries and trauma from long ago and sees himself as less than the warriors who can fight against the scourge. His time with and attraction to Siobhan challenges all that during their journey. Wonderful characters. Loved it! Excellent new addition to this series. 5 stars.

I love this book and the whole series so far and they just keep getting better and better and the characters and the chemistry between them is burning hot. Zec’k is a trader of supplies from settlements to settlements. But going to Franklin settlement is his favourite because his mate Siobhan is there and they talk all the time because she is the baker but it’s her scent that drives me crazy every time I’m around her and when she talks about finding her sister on the other side of the country and I offer to help her and in the hope she finds me worthy as her protector. They In counter may obstacles on there way and fight through them all but the biggest obstacle is that they want more but are struggling to tell each other. The drama and action keeps this book and the reader on there toes and wondering if they get there HEA.

Zec'k and Siobhan's Journey

I love a good adventure in a romance and this one definitely delivers!! The community of New Franklin has come a long way. They’ve secured a perimeter, have shelter and food and several of them have paired up with mates. This is good, but all Siobhan can think about is the promise she made to her sister. She has to go to her and there is one Xarc’n Hunter who is up to the task her getting Siobhan safely to her sister.

Zec’k is attracted to Siobhan and jumps at the opportunity to be with her and help her on this journey. Together they travel through the many dangers of the bugpocalypse and form an unshakable bond. I really enjoyed this read and look forward to more from the Xarc’n Hunters. I highly recommend this series!

Loved reading this story about Zec’k a Xarc'n warrior and Siobhan. Due to the bugpocalypse Siobhan lost touch with her sister and Zec’k volunteers to help Siobhan find her. Zec’k is a warrior with deep internal scars who doesn't feel worthy of claiming his mate which is Siobhan. So, does he find his self-worth on their journey to Colorado to find Siobhan's sister? I love how this series is involving by introducing a brand-new possibility of a new colony and hunters. I also enjoyed reading Siobhan and Zec’k's journey with all the drama, the steamy romance with our two wonderful characters and the arresting fights against those awful bugs. This is a standalone, but I do suggest reading the previous stories in this series. I volunteer to read and review this enjoyable ARC that I received via Booksprout.

Even if you aren’t looking, fate may find your one

I really liked this story. It was entertaining and enjoyable with a couple of exceptions. The characters were interesting and likable for the most part. There was some drama, angst, and violence. I enjoyed the bad guys (and bugs!) getting what they deserved. Siobhan and Zec’k had been dancing around each other for awhile but Zec’k said that he wasn’t looking for a mate. Siobhan was attracted to Zec’k but she had kept that to herself. When Zec’k offered to help Siobhan with a favor it made them spend time together in a small area which gave them a chance to get to know each other better. I loved their happily ever after. I recommend reading this book.

I really liked reading about Siobhan and Zec'k given that it was out of the usual template wirh him being a depivery/supply guy with slightly different setup versus the standard hunter setup. I also liked that Siobhan was basically lusting after this guy but also respected his feelings in the beginning.

this series has grown on me since it is a nice escape from reality and it's easy to read in large quantities without me actually being overly annoyed with either FMC and MMC.

Tbh I thought the baking thing was a bit of a stretch but then I realized that it actually fit the story and characters really well. plus I love the extra world development the author is doing rather than info dumping it all at once.

Now I'm going to read the Mountain spinoff series since the next book after this one technically recommended it and who am I to stray from recommendations UwU

Zec’k was one of the Xarc’n Warriors although he wasn’t an active fighter in one of the settlements, he was the warrior who transported the food supplies to them. Zec’k loved to visit the Franklin settlement because Siobhan was there and although he wasn’t looking for a mate, she drew him like bees to honey. Siobhan was the baker in Franklin, but she wanted to go and see if her sister was still at her cabin in the Rockies. Zec’k volunteered to take her there after his last delivery. It’s while they are on this eventful trip that they develop a bond and learn more about each other and their journey to a happily ever after.

I’m absolutely loving this series with all of these sexy Xarc’n warrior aliens who came to earth to kill the giant bugs now it’s a bug apocalypse and on top of all of that these warriors find their fated mates among these human females and this is Zec’k’s and Siobhan’s story. Zec’k believes that he’s not worthy of a mate he believes that he is a failure but he just can’t stay away from Siobhan so when she tells him that she has to find her sister Zec’k speaks before he thinks and he becomes Siobhan’s protector along the way but the trip is fraught with danger so can these two survive each other never mind the bugs?. I loved this story it’s an amazing read and I definitely recommend this book/ series.

Siobhan and Zec’k are another match. This series continues to impress me with the bios and daring humans alongside the brave and loyal warriors. Siobhan’s inner strength and passion were palpable. Zec’k’s feeling of being less that worthy were heartbreaking. They needed to heal themselves and heal with and for each other. It was a beautiful read. Their love put a smile on my face. Their intimacy made me blush. Just another stunner. Also, this was a thriller as we first encountered traveling to another part of the country where others had settled. The dimensions this opened up mean there should be more to come hopefully!

Siobhan's been mooning over Zec'k since he's been dropping off supplies to their settlement, but she's heard him tell others that he's not looking for a mate. Zec'k doesn't feel that he deserves a mate because of a past that haunts him, but if he did,why does his eyes and attention constantly seek out Siobhan? He keeps telliing himself and everyone else it's because of her cooking. But after agreeing to help her find her sister, will their quest change everything? I loved the character interaction and devlopment as the story ensues, as well as the action and danger elements that occur. Great worldbuilding. What a great way to open the door for a spin off of this great series. Bravo!
