Three Kisses, One Midnight

Rate this book
New York Times bestselling authors Roshani Chokshi, Evelyn Skye, and Sandhya Menon craft a spellbinding novel about discovering the magic of true love on one fateful, magical night in Three Kisses, One Midnight .

The town of Moon Ridge was founded 400 years ago and everyone born and raised there knows the legend of the young woman who perished at the stroke of twelve that very same night, losing the life she was set to embark on with her dearest love. Every century since, one day a year, the Lady of Moon Ridge descends from the stars to walk among the townsfolk, conjuring an aura upon those willing to follow their hearts’ desires.

“To summon joy and love in another’s soul
For a connection that makes two people whole
For laughter and a smile that one can never miss
Sealed before midnight with a truehearted kiss.”

This year at Moon Ridge High, a group of friends known as The Coven will weave art, science, and magic during a masquerade ball unlike any other. Onny, True, and Ash believe everything is in alignment to bring them the affection, acceptance, and healing that can only come from romance―with a little help from Onny’s grandmother’s love potion.

But nothing is as simple as it first seems. And as midnight approaches, The Coven learn that it will take more than a spell to recognize those who offer their love and to embrace all the magic that follows.

GUYS THIS WAS SO CUTE. Literally one of the cutest YA romances I’ve ever read 🥹

The Halloween and autumn vibes were simply perfect. I instantly picked out the lyrical prose of Roshani Chokshi at certain parts, which was so beautiful. There were some truly beautiful lines in this book that built up the atmosphere of it so so well. Reading this during Halloween time would be perfect because it matches the vibes of it just so well?? Usually books struggle to encapsulate the mood they’re going for but this book hit it spot on!!

The magic in this book was perfect. I loved how it was just there, and not explained fully, just like an actual Halloween movie. It was there just enough to make the tale whimsical and I adored that. The town of Moon Ridge itself and it’s founders tale was all so small town perfection, and the tropes that came with it in the small town has me screaming. It was like the perfect Hallmark movie.

Out of all the stories, Ash and Cassidy’s was my favourite. Mutual pining for years to only fall in love??? Sunshine x sunshine??? My absolute jam. They were so so sooooo cute together and the way art was a main focus of their story was so well done. Ash was such a soft boy and I adored his POV. Cassidy was also a ball of sunshine and I adored her.

Ommy’s tale really set the background for everything that happened, which was great as it was first. The family connections in hers were also very well done. The academic rivals trope with her and Byron was okay. Honestly I prefer sunshine boys to grumpy ones, and given the fact there were sunshine boys in this book Byron was kind of …. not as good. It was still very cute though!!

True’s story was my least favourite. Her whole believing in science only thing annoyed me to no end. Orion was SUCH A CINNAMON ROLL THOUGH. He was sunshine and cuteness personified. But since their romance was kind of insta lovey, it was my least favourite for sure.

Overall this was an amazing fall time story, that was the perfect YA fluff mixed with magic and Halloween vibes. I would love these authors to do anthologies for all the seasons because this was fantastic!!

Thank you so much to the publishers and NetGalley for the arc!! You can read this book when it comes out August 30th!

Onny, True, and Ash are best friends and like to hang out after high school and pursue their unique interests. When Onny finds a recipe from her grandmother for a love potion, she makes enough to go around. They decide to use the potion during the huge masquerade party that is being thrown on the 400th anniversary of the founding of their town. As they search for love on this night, they stumble across unexpected truths and mysteries that encourage them to take a deeper look at themselves.

I enjoyed the way that this work was set up – it is divided into three sections, one for each of the friends, and follows each of them throughout the night of the masquerade. This made it read like three novellas rather than one continuous story, but I didn’t mind that. The concept of this work was interesting and executed well, and the authors excelled at incorporating a Halloween mood throughout the book. However, the magic and paranormal aspect of the work was very light, not really becoming present until near the end of the work – I would have liked to see a bit more incorporation of these things.

The characters were all quite well written. Each of the three main characters had a unique voice and were relatable in their own ways as were their love interests. The secondary characters were also well written and varied, making for an interesting read. I enjoyed the diversity of the characters and how that was woven throughout their stories

I listened to the audiobook version of this work, and thought the narrators did an excellent job at bringing the characters to life, though there were a couple of mispronunciations that I noticed in the audio.

This was a unique, fun YA romance and I recommend it to anyone who likes YA and romance. It was an easy read, and I quite enjoyed it. My thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for allowing me to read and review this work, which was published today! All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

One Liner: Lighthearted and fun

Moon Ridge is a delightful small town with 400 years of history. Everyone knows about the Lady of Moon Ridge and her love story. Halloween has a special significance in the town. After all, the Lady of Moon Ridge descends from the stars once every hundred years and walks among the people to help lovers unite at midnight.

It’s no surprise that the high school students (and many adults) are super excited about Halloween. It’s the hundredth year and time for the mysterious lady ghost to make an appearance.

The Coven, a trio of mismatched besties- Onny, True, and Ash, have mixed feelings about the special occasion. Onny is excited to find true love using her granny’s love potion. True wants nothing to do with magic. Ash is doubtful if he’ll ever find love (or win it).

What happens on Halloween party eve? Do the friends get what they want? Can they hope for their deepest wishes to come true? And what’s Halloween without some magic?

Onny’s Story

Onny comes from the richest family in the town but is loved by many. She plans her life based on astrology, tarot, and signs from the stars. Ash and True love her enough to indulge in her antics (which are often). She is determined to use the love potion on the guy she sets her eyes on. But things rarely go as planned.

Her story sets the tone for the rest of the novel. It uses the academia frenemies-to-lovers trope with a third party thrown into the mix. Onny is infuriating but a sweetheart too.

Ash’s Story

Asher is an awkward nerdy teen who feels comfortable with art and just two humans, Onny and True. He has a huge crush (turned love) on Cassidy, his neighbor. When a chance incident brings him and Cassidy close enough to talk and spend some time together, can Asher use the chance to win his lady love?

The story is sweet and predictable (which is the case with this genre). Ash’s love for art comes across very clearly though the ‘love track’ could have been better. Still, it suits the book’s theme and atmosphere.

True’s Story

True believes only in science. Magic has no place in her life despite being Onny’s best friend. She’s learned to guard her heart, but meeting Orion at the Halloween party might just change her mind (or her heart).

This story has insta-love and maximum paranormal activity in the entire book. Makes sense that it would happen to True, right? ;) The story is rather cute, even if I didn’t like the insta-love trope.

Overall Observations:

The writing is a bit disjointed in places but a fast read once you stop looking for a seamless transaction between the stories.

It is a YA book so expect some (a lot) eye-roll moments and dialogues. The Coven is colorful, with each of them having a distinct personality. They act more like early teens, but that’s fine too. They are still teens.

All stories are pretty light though they do deal with some heavy issues. Don’t look for anything deep. This book is meant to be enjoyed.

There’s a diverse rep and a cool LBGT couple (who can have a story of their own).

The magic isn’t really there. The book has very mild bits of paranormal (almost as if ticking off a box). The atmosphere is there but not enough magic except in the last part. It would have been better if the events were more evenly distributed across all three stories.

I’d have loved it more if the three stories were interwoven into one novel where things happen in parallel. It sure would have helped with character development and pacing.

To sum up, Three Kisses, One Midnight is a lighthearted read in a cozy setting. It’ll work as a breather between heavy reads as long you don’t think much about the plotlines.

Thank you, NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton, for the eARC. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.

“They all walked down the stairs, out into the crisp autumn night that smelled of woodsmoke and glittered like jeweled secrets. As they went, the twin stars seemed to glow a little brighter, like watchful eyes shining in the dark.”

★★★✩✩

Three Kisses, One Midnight is an entertaining witchy novel that borders on romance and appeals to teen audiences. The story is told through the points of view of three characters—Onny, Ash, and True who need to find a kiss before midnight for a brewed love potion to work. Light-hearted and short, I expected to enjoy this but truth to be told, I'm a little disappointed at the way the plot was executed.

Three Kisses One Midnight is a story about three teenagers who are determined to find their true love and seal it with a kiss before midnight. Onny finds a rather interesting pair, Ash has to stop putting off contemplating the idea of confessing to his crush and do it, and True? True has recently broken up with her boyfriend, so she hopes that romance isn't cut for her, but we'll see how that goes.

Onny's part was the most cliche and I slogged through it. But as the story progresses, Ash and True have better storylines and that, somehow, fixed the entire picture for me. True's story is gotta be my favorite out of the three, the second being Ash.

Another thing I loved in the book was how subtly the authors wove in bits of their culture into the characters. Sometimes, I felt like a certain author entirely wrote one-third of the book. There were some scenes that were really evident in showing who might've written this, me having read almost all of Roshani's books kind of help in this. But maybe that's the point? I'm not really sure, though.

But what didn't work for me about this book, might just work for you, so have an open mind when you're reading this! For me, it was more of a "me problem" than it was the book's since I wasn't a fan of short cliche-ish romances filled with tropes. All in all, Three Kisses One Midnight is a book that wasn't up my alley but hopefully others will like it more.

5 stars for 3 stories in one!

Onny, Tru, and Ash are one tight knit "coven". When Onny decides to make a love potion recipe her grandmother made for her(who has recently passed away) she decides that the Halloween Midnight Gala is the perfect place for her and her coven to find true love, sealed with a kiss before midnight. This love potion isn't one to force love, so feelings must already be present to be amplified. The book begins with Onny's story on finding her perfect potion victim and what happens when it ends up drunk by the worst person possible. Ash's story follows up, then followed by Tru. Each story plots a different course for love, but can they all find happily ever after?

Each of these stories is 5 stars on their own, so for them to be all in one is just an extra delight for readers. I love that they are short, sweet, and too the point while giving readers everything they need to know of backstory. The coven is given plenty of page time for you to root for each of them to find love with a bit of the supernatural sprinkled in. Adorable all the way around, and for three different authors to make three stories weave so well together that I can't choose a favorite?! Bravo!

Five stars and a recommendation for Halloween season as these stories will get you in the mood for tricks and treats. Recommended for anyone who enjoys tarot and astrology, as well as those who just want a fun and young romance story. Age recommended for 12+, even adults will like this one. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Three Kisses, One Midnight is a fun and entertaining YA fantasy that follows three friends and their search for love during the Halloween season. Dubbed The Coven, Onny, Ash, and True decide to use a love potion. The book includes three stories written by three different authors, and all of the stories are interconnected.

The first story is my favorite, though they are all engrossing. It’s an enemies-to-lovers romance, which I always enjoy, and Onny and Byron are fantastic. Onny is a well-developed protagonist and probably the most layered of all the characters in the book. She is the one to make the love potion and convince her friends to use it. Onny has been crushing on a boy for a while and has grown frustrated by many missed opportunities. The love potion is Onny’s chance to finally gain Alexander’s attention. Of course, not everything goes according to plan, as Onny quickly realizes when her plans are thwarted by her rival Byron.

The second story is a friends-to-lovers romance that follows Ash, who likes his neighbor Cassidy but is too shy to tell her. They have a very sweet and gentle love story, and I thought Ash and Cassidy were the most likable of characters. The last story is about True and Orion. True is the skeptic of the bunch and is struggling with a recent heartache. When she meets Orion, however, True’s feelings change. They have a fun opposites-attract romance.

I like that the three stories, though connected are completely different and include a variety of romantic tropes. It’s like there’s something for every kind of ya romance reader. I also appreciated the great dialogue, fun banter, and messages about friendship. family, love, and more.

This is a fun and magical read – the perfect book to get you in the Halloween mood! Thanks so much to Wednesday Books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

A small poodle is lying on a fluffy blanket with a hardcover book to her right and a silk sunflower between her front paws. The dog is wearing a bandana. The book is THREE KISSES, ONE MIDNIGHT by Roshani Chokshi, Evelyn Skye, and Shadhya Menon.

THREE KISSES, ONE MIDNIGHT by Roshani Chokshi, Evelyn Skye, and Shadhya Menon is a whimsical book divided into three stories about magic and finding love on a special night. I love the premises of this book, the magical link between the stories, and the well-written characters. This writing collaboration was awesome, and I hope that these three wonderful authors will do more in the near future.

Three Kisses, One Midnight is so much fun. At first, I wasn’t entirely sure how I would feel about it, because anthologies and I…we fight like cats sometimes. But I can say without a shadow of a doubt that this story will absolutely sweep you away with its Halloween spirit and swoon-worthy romance!

first of all…THE DIVERSITY????

First of all, I love how you can tell which author wrote which story. We follow three best friends who each have a love potion that helps spark feelings that might already exist in their true loves. The catch? They have to be kissed by midnight after taking the love potion!

Onny is Filipino, Ash is Taiwanese, and True is Indian. I adored the Asian representation in these stories partially because I think that each author sprinkled in tidbits unique to their own cultures and experiences. It made it feel so much more special.

now let’s talk about individual stories!

First off, Apollonia “Onny” Diamante. I don’t know why everyone in this book has such romantical, whimsical names but besides Onny we have Byron Frost, Asher Lee, Aria “True” Tandon, and Orion. There’s also a Cassidy but that’s a little less whimsical in my mind*. Onny’s story has that rivals-to-lovers trope that I adore so very much. Most of the plot involves her hurrying to collect ingredients for the boy she believes to be her forever true love Alexander after her nemesis Byron Frost drinks the original potion. Also, the QUEEN Roshani Chokshi wrote this story and her prose literally never fails me. Ever.

*my most sincerest apologies to all Cassidys out there. in my defense, my name is kaya. you can’t get less whimsical than that

“Perhaps there really were blue-lipped ghosts resting in the shadows of forests, girls with autumn leaves for hair slipping behind buildings, or scarecrows waltzing across fields. It was the kind of magic that promised alchemy and wonder, where a kiss by midnight really could melt into true love…”

LIKE WHAT IS THAT. My Kindle was crying for me to stop highlighting every sentence like it always does when I read a story by Chokshi. Anyways, Onny’s belief in magic and her banter with the woefully dark and brooding Byron Frost made my day. So good. Okay okay, one more quote about Byron Frost and then I’ll leave it alone.

“Byron’s hair was so dark that it looked like a rare ink coveted by the same poet who’d given him his name.”

Asher Lee’s story was written by Evelyn Skye, and it’s been so long since I’ve read anything by her! I really enjoyed her Crown’s Game duology but never got around to picking up her other books until now.

Ash’s story was the absolute most wholesome thing I’ve read all year. He’s an artist who has been in love with his neighbor Cassidy for years, and yet they’ve never spoken. At least, not until she comes crashing through his fence on Halloween thanks to some rambunctious younger brothers and a chaotic basketball hoop. Both Ash and Cassidy are so adorable, that you can’t help but grin the entire time. I also love the connections to Onny’s story previously!

Finally, True’s story was more focused on her refusal to believe in magic or true love, as she attends Onny’s party with the intent of never using her love potion…until she meets a mysterious, kind stranger named Orion.

This was my first time reading anything by Sandhya Menon but I really enjoyed her writing style! True is a girl who’s had her heart broken before, and watching her slowly open up to Orion was adorable. Also, I appreciated some much-needed revenge on her stupid (a very eloquent word) ex-boyfriend. And I probably loved a certain magical element that appeared in all three stories the most in this one.

my final ranking, from least favorite to most favorite!

3. True’s story is my least favorite, although I still really enjoyed it! It’s the sort of story that would work better as a full novel, since there wasn’t any history between the main love interests.

2. Ash’s story is unbelievably cute, and the absolute epitome of next-door romance. I loved his love for art, and how he and Cassidy just clicked.

Onny’s story struck me the most as wildly romantic and magical, with just the right mixture of angst and sweetness. I was swept away for a few glorious pages into a love story borne on Halloween night, underneath the gleam of the moon and the fabled constellations. I absolutely adored it.
Three Kisses, One Midnight is the perfect collection of witchy love stories to beckon in the autumn season! They all made me laugh and smile and occasionally tear up. This comes out on August 30th!

Just a bundle of sweetness.

This book is three adorable love stories rolled into one. Interestingly enough, I couldn't even tell that it was written by three different authors. I'm curious how they divided the book up, like if each of them got one character or if they wrote everything together. Regardless, it flows seamlessly.

We get a little bit of everything. Rivals to lovers. Mutual pining. And love at the first meeting.

The stories were short and sweet. Are they a tad predictable? Yes, but they were still fun and endearing.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press/ Wednesday Books for sharing this ARC with me in exchange for my honest thoughts.

3 Stars for Three Kisses, One Midnight (audiobook) by Roshani Chokshi, Sandhya Menon and Evelyn Skye read by Becca Q. Co, Ewan Chung and Shiromi Arserio.

When I started this one, I assumed it was an anthology, so I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was in fact one story that was co-authored by three different authors. However, the book doesn't read as one continuous story. The plot is broken into three phases, and each phase is a POV from one of the three best friends that make up The Coven (Onny, Ash, and True).

Onny’s POV is first, and I immediately fell in love with her narrative. Onny lost her grandmother months prior, but before her grandmother died, she left a recipe for a love potion specifically for Onny to make. Onny decides that she’s going to make this love potion for her and her best friends, so that they can all find love by midnight on Halloween.

After Onny’s POV ends, the reader is shifted to Ash followed by True, and I just felt like I was pulled out of the magic of the story that was initially set up. The prose didn’t feel as free flowing. I think I also struggled with Ash’s and True’s POVs because I honestly can’t put into words why that is exactly.

I think this story would’ve worked much better if the authors either alternated POVs each chapter or integrated everyone throughout the story.

Three kisses one midnight by Roshani Chokshi, Sandhya Menon, and Evelyn Skye is a ya contemporary with a mixed of fantasy in it and it was a fun cute read! I loved how even though this was a short story collection I loved how they all interweive with each other! I think my favorite story was the first one because it had one of my favorite tropes in it and that is: Friends to lovers, and I just really loved ony as a character! Overall rating is: 4/5 stars!
Ps. I want to say thank you to Wenesday books for sending me an e-arc and sorry it took me so long to read and review it! Also I read this for spring into reading readathon and it was for the prompt of: Read a book with yellow and pink on the cover!(:

This was such a cute and fun read! It’s basically three novellas put together. Each story features a member of a friend group called The Coven on the Halloween night.
One thing that really stuck out to be about this book was the descriptions. They were done so well and it really made me feel like I was reading this in the middle of October instead of the middle of July. It was a really atmospheric read!
I loved each of the three romances featured. They were all unique and involved different tropes which was fun. I’d have to say that Onny’s was my favorite!
This is such a great book to get you into the fall mood!

Three characters, three stories, one book. If you're a fan of contemporary YA romance series and wish you can get three stories in one book, then this is the one for you.

I honestly went into this book thinking that it was going to be an anthology of short stories. However, it's a little bit more unique than that and really creates a unique experience. Three incredible YA authors write three separate stories all set at the same place, same time, and follow one of the main characters through their evening. I loved the concept. I loved the idea of writing a short story in a trilogy collection that's set throughout the same night.

The first story is based off Onny. She's the magical one of the group who's made a love potion for the three of them to use sometime before midnight of the town's Halloween ball. Onny was my favorite as she prepares her potion for the boy she has a crush on only to have her nemesis drink it instead. And as they try to make more of the potion, of course their feelings for each other changes as well.

The second story is based off Ash, who is a talented artist that's terribly shy. He lives next door to a wondrous girl who plays basketball and runs with a much more popular crowd and while he may know every detail about her, she doesn't really know he exists. That is, until her brothers break the fence between their two homes and Ash is recruited to help rebuild the fence with her. Of course, things start to change between the two of them from there.

The final story follows True, a straightforward no-nonsense girl who's nursing a broken heart. Of course, she wouldn't let on that she's a bit heartbroken, but when she finds herself at the ball talking to a boy she's never met before, things change for True and open her up to a possibility of love.

The three stories separately all had some favorite moments. I loved that each had its different trope and has a little bit for everyone. Of course, it's a super fast read, but still such a darling set of stories. I most definitely loved Onny's story the best, but each had me gasping and sighing at some of the romantic moments for each of them.

Of course, the book has all the fall vibes. The book is set around Halloween with a Halloween-themed ball to attend. The people in town dressed in elaborate costumes all sipping party drinks and dancing together is just the perfect mood for the story. Of course, there's a little bit of witchy magic, which also ties into the Halloween theme without being spooky. I absolutely loved that this book is made for this season and if you're looking to cozy up with a comforting YA romance, then this one is for you.

This was a really cute anthology! I really enjoyed the way the stories were all focused on this one friend group and explored each of their personalities. The love interests meshed really well with each character and the banter was just absolutely adorable! While some of the texts and language felt a bit too forced at times, I think overall it was a cozy little romance mixed with a bit of supernatural!

In the first story, the banter was the strongest point. There was a bit of rivalry and the payoff made it all the more amazing! In the second story, I think I related the most to the introspection and commentary about finding solace in doing what you love and loving the things that make the other's eyes light up with passion. The third one had a lovely story about finding yourself with a side of romance and I especially liked the little tidbit about True's name!

All in all, I really enjoyed this and would recommend it if anyone wants just a quick and cozy lighthearted romance!

When I first read the summary for this book, I thought it sounded super cute! It was a quick read, one that I really enjoyed. Three Kisses, One Midnight follows three friends as they pursue their own romances at a Halloween ball.

This Halloween, Onny decides to make love potions for her trio of friends dubbed “The Coven,” including Ash and True. Onny wants to finally take a chance with her crush Alexander but is continually thwarted by her rival Byron. Ash has been crushing on his neighbor Cassidy, but he’s too shy and soft-spoken to make a move. True is still healing from a devastating break-up but meets Orion, who sees her true potential.

Initially, I thought this book consisted of intertwining stories, as in different chapters would focus on each character. However, it’s more like an anthology where we get each character’s story separately. Other than the tightly-knit friendship connection, we also see more lore about their town Moon Ridge, which has its own magical Halloween myth.

Each story was very cute! Onny’s was probably my favorite, especially because Chokshi’s humor shone through the page. Her antics in making the love potions were really funny, especially with Byron popping up when she least expects it. Ash was a very relatable character, a shy artist who gets tongue-tied around his long-term crush. Meanwhile, True was a determined character who knows what she wants. It was nice to see her acknowledge that she doesn’t need a romance but can pursue one if that’s what she wants.

That being said, I though the ordering of the stories was not the best. I felt like we didn’t get to see True’s characterization very much in the other stories. Even in her own story, her characterization felt a bit weak, so ending on her story felt almost anti-climactic. Also, I don’t know if I missed something but I expected to see some repeat aspects throughout the stories since they’re supposed to take place at the same time. I suppose it could be that the authors didn’t want to be repetitive, but that almost made me doubt that the stories were, in fact, taking place at the same time.

Still, Three Kisses, One Midnight was a quick, cute read! I liked the characters well enough and found the romances to be adorable. I think Three Kisses, One Midnight is a perfect read for autumn, especially for those who enjoy contemporary stories with a hint of magic!

original review:

awww this was cute! great autumn read

I will say that true's characterization felt the weakest so ending on her story was not the best ordering imo

Thank you to Wednesday Books for the early digital copy of Three Kisses, One Midnight by *all those authors* lol!  I haven’t read anything by Skye or Menon but I love Chokshi as a YA author and was happy to grab a copy of this.

This is a young feeling YA with witchy & folklore elements, that hit me like a Halloween version of Cinderella.  Three friends are attending the town’s annual masquerade gala and are intent on finding true love prior to midnight.  It was a little silly but magical and cute overall, and I think that younger YA readers will enjoy the book

...

The synopsis sounded a little not-my-style but I’ll read anything that Roshani Chokshi writes.  The first friend, Onny, has an insanely rich family and her parents host the Moon Ridge founding day gala every year.  Since it’s the 400th anniversary they are sparing no expense and creating the most magical, amazing celebration ever.

There was a good overall mood and setting, I would totally go to that masquerade.

I think the best part was also the most jarring part – Chokshi’s prose.  The other authors wrote the dialogue and stories, and then her lyrical and magic descriptions were tagged into paragraphs.   Text, Text, text, “and it was like *insert block of Chokshi prose*”.

I think they should have melded it together a little better somehow but it really did flow well overall.

Split into three sections, a section for each friend, we get to see how each teen embraces both the literal and figurative magic of the night.  I was surprised to enjoy the third story the most – True had an amazing personality and I feel like the authors gave us a rough idea of her at first, so I got to overcome my first impression of her as she also had her own struggles.  I liked her story the most too.

Each teen had a little adventure and I think True had the best one.  Each character was good though, I didn’t particularly dislike any character or segment.  Ash’s was slowest but interesting, Onny was insufferable and had to learn to look under the surface of people, and I already talked about True!

There are good youth friendly themes of being yourself, honoring family, accepting yourself and others, and others.

Overall, I’m pretty excited that these authors got together.  I do think some of the content isn’t quite as cute as they intended it to be, which is why I went with my neutral rating.  I do appreciate that they kept the main characters to kissing only. The characters tend to talk and text like 12 year olds and they are intended to be 17+! Like I said, I would recommend for the younger YA spectrum and also have no trouble giving this to a strong middle grader.

Thanks again to Wednesday Books for my advanced copy, all opinions are my own

umm this book was so FRICKING CUTE!!! I couldn't put it down...

~thanks to Hodder and Stoughton/NetGalley for the ARC ~
For starters, I don't think it has been marketed enough over on Instagram or BookTok, because this is such a perfect Autumn read, and it is co-written by not one but THREE amazing female authors and I just loved the lead characters.

This was a quick and easy read, perfect for one cosy autumn's day with a hot chocolate, even better if you read it around Halloween. It was light-hearted, such a sweet little YA romance novel. It is basically three little novellas that interlink, it follows three best friends (set in high school), Onny, True, and Ash. Each has their own POV story, where they try to find love.

They live in a small town called Moon Ridge that was founded 400 years ago, the lady of Moon Ridge is said to come down from the stars to visit the town of Moon Ridge every 100 years and help people find true love. The book is set mainly over Halloween and the day that Onny's parents are hosting their huge annual town-wide midnight masquerade. The book has hints of magic, witches, and ghosts, which I really liked! It added a little extra special something to the book!

Onny's story was my favourite, it was basically a rivals/enemies to lovers, and I enjoyed the banter in that one the most. Ash & True's stories were also very sweet.

Honestly, I couldn't put it down. It was well written and very sweet, one of those books you could pick up after reading something darker or heavy, maybe even just a quick weekend read.

I would recommend for fans of XOXO, The Ex Hex, TATBILB, and of course if you love Roshani Chokshi I firmly believe you will enjoy this.

Overall, 4 stars.

Three Kisses, One Midnight by Roshani Chokshi; Sandhya Menon; Evelyn Skye is a great collection of three novellas that are filled with Halloween, magic, love, and are just fun all around.

I really enjoyed this collection of stories for young adults/adults that incorporates modern-day situations, young love/romance, and adventures with the ancient history of Halloween, covens, magic, witches, and spells/love potions.

Each novella features a different author and a different main character, but all are connected with an overarching theme leaving the reader entertained throughout.

I recommend this for anyone that enjoys YA, paranormal, and Halloween-themed books.

Thank you NG and Wednesday Books/ St. Martin’s Press for this wonderful arc and in return I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion.

I am posting this review to my GR and Bookbub accounts immediately and will post it to my Amazon, Instagram, and B&N accounts upon publication on 8/30/22.

I'm gonna be honest and say that when I started this book I expected to find more actual magic being practiced by the main characters, but anyway I still enjoy how the magical aspect was dealt with and how it was included in the three storylines. My favourite story was definitely Onny's, the first one. I enjoyed the trope and the general vibe, it was all very cute.
Overall, this book gave me lots of autumnal vibes and by pure chance I read it at the perfect time, since fall is starting right about now where I live. If you're looking for a quick read to start off this season, then you should definitely check it out!

I ended up liking this way more than I was expecting. The authors created a myth around two tragic young lovers who end up being reunited in the sky as twin stars. Every 400 years, so the story goes, the lady comes down from the stars to visit the town of Moon Ridge and possibly bring true love to certain couples. This story was co-written in three parts by one of my favorite authors, Roshani Chokshi, and two other authors I am unfamiliar with. Three best friends, Onny, Ash, and True each have their chance at true love on Halloween, and I had a lot of fun reading about that night from each of their perspectives.

Onny's story sets up the night and explains the myth as well as the source of the love potions. I enjoyed her love story even if I could see it coming a mile away. But it was fun watching her realize what was literally in front of her face the whole time. I enjoyed this story, but it wasn't my favorite.

Ash's story is the one that had me saying, "awwww" just about the whole time. I loved his story the most and I wished I could see his artwork. I especially wanted to see all the masks he made, but looking at this art studio would have been cool too.

True's story I liked at least as much as Onny's and there was a moment when I even said, "Waaaaaaaait!!!!!" I loved the scene with her parents and about the origin of her name, and the balcony scene was awesome although I did worry for Wynona.

Overall, I thought this would make a great read for Halloween, but it would also make a fun beach read. I love that the three authors came together and created this fun story. If you are fans of any of these three authors, you should check this out. Unlike some novellas or short story collections where I like some of the stories but not all of them, because this is a collaboration of a bigger story, I ended up really liking the book as a whole. It was definitely more cohesive.

I received an advance review copy from NetGalley for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I requested a digital advanced readers copy from NetGalley and Macmillan Audio and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased.

Synopsis: This Halloween, magic will reawaken in the town of Moon Ridge, and any love forged that night will last forever. At least, that’s what the founder’s fable says, and best friends Onny, Ash, and True—better known as “The Coven”—aren’t taking any chances. After brewing a supposed love potion from a recipe passed down by Onny’s grandmother, each member of The Coven sets off to try to charm the love of their life. One falls for an unexpected suitor. Another paints himself into a corner. And the third refuses to believe in magic at all… until true love proves her wrong.

My Thoughts: I really enjoyed the set up as it felt as if I was reading 3 separate novellas, as each of the friend’s journeys was separated into 3 parts. This book screams Halloween and was executed flawlessly. I do not usually care for fantasy books but I do love a good magical twist, which this book did have, just not as much as I would have liked. The narrators gave each character pizazz and flare, unique to the character, and made you feel a part of their individual journeys. This story covered a host of tropes. The first story was enemies to lovers. The second story is a friends to lovers troped. The last story had True as a skeptic of romance. The characters were executed flawlessly with depth, whimsical, chemistry, and really worked for this storyline. I loved that the characters and supporting characters were created with such diversity. The author’s writing style was complex, flowed well, intriguing, magical, and kept me engaged. While I know YA books are not for everyone, as an adult, I just love them. This book released last month, it is a lighthearted read, perfect for the Halloween season!

rating: 4 stars

„Three Kisses, One Midnight“ was a much better book than I expected. It's absolutely perfect for fans of witchy stuff and magic in general. It consists of three short stories and each of them is written by one of the three authors.

This Halloween, magic will reawaken in the town of Moon Ridge, and any love forged that night will last forever.

My favorite story was the first one which is about Onny and I finished reading it so fast but the two other stories weren't as interesting or as special in my opinion. The first one also has one of my favorite tropes which is rivals to lovers and it was done very well. I truly enjoyed it. If Ash and True had some better plot I would have given this book a higher rating but it is what it is. The whole book was still cute and perfect for a Halloween read. Definitely worth giving it a try!
