Never Say Severe in Deadwood is a book by author Ann Charles that tells the story of Violet Parker, an executioner of paranormal and ectoplasmic creatures and also a real estate agent in Deadwood, and with the help of Doc, her boyfriend and partner, Cooper, the stubborn detective, and Harvey, her bodyguard, they wish to hunt down the parasitic Nachzebrer and their bounty hunters. Will she be able to do so despite the forces that try to distract her from her goal?
This book is a fantasy paranormal novel filled with humor and friendly banter. Although it was really confusing at the start, it would have helped if one had read the book first, but with patience, you will learn to appreciate it. I love a book that is able to transport you into its world and make you a spectator on its best viewing platform, and that is what this book did with its well-described scenes, especially the violet way of talking. She is my favorite character; she has a tongue that can put old sailors to shame and a fierce personality that cannot be shot down, though she could melt in the presence of her boyfriend.
Although its language style seems unusual, it adds more spice to the book. I wish there was a translation for some of the foreign words used. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because of how well it transported to the book, and I recommend it to paranormal readers.
