Logan, Lucas, and Willow were barely teenagers when their lives irrevocably changed and bound together. They found ways to survive the fall of civilization in their quest to find a safe, sustainable shelter. But their dream of normality might come with a price neither of them was willing to pay.
Right from the beginning, I was drawn to Logan with how he took the responsibility, while Lucas and Willow stressed me out with their too carefree personality. I liked how this series is more about the people than the monsters, but personally, I prefer more grit because some aspects were a little too perfect for the world.
I liked the characters’ dynamic, though it’s also a contributing factor in making the story quite predictable for me. Despite that, I enjoyed the overall story and looking forward to more of the world.
The Blood That Binds is a story of survival and new beginnings. It would appeal to readers who enjoy a Romance story set in a non-harrowing post-apocalyptic world.

This book is unbelievably amazing. I am not sure where to even start with my thoughts.
The Blood That Binds is the third book in the Thicker Than Blood series, but it is a complete and full standalone. Madeline and Claire introduce brand new characters into this series, both main and secondary and bring new life to this series in so many ways.
I won't divulge too much of what happens in this book because everything flows together and giving anyway tidbits, will just ruin the story. I absolutely love Lucas, Logan and Willow. These three have been through everything as a trio, even before the world ended. So it's no surprise that they have stuck together long after the world was upended, regardless of their differences. The secondary characters add another amazing layer to this story and are the perfect addition to this story.
I read this book in less than a day. I felt like I was at the edge of my seat the whole time reading. Madeline and Claire do a brilliant job of building up each scene and having it flow perfectly into the next juncture. The pacing in this book is amazing and I can't tell at any point that there are two people are writing this book. It all flows beautifully together; the plot, the characters and the amazing writing.
Readers will laugh, cry (happy and sad tears), scream and even want to throttle some characters at times. I was thoroughly invested in these characters and their story. There is also no shortage of action and gore either. Madeline and Claire deliver their grittier side with some gruesome scenes that align perfectly with the plot and these characters. Readers will envision this post-apocalyptic due to the brilliant details and will feel as though they're walking in the characters shoes.
The Blood That Binds is a heart-pounding, explosive read. It's a great book for readers who read the first two and brand new readers. It is a full standalone and should be read as such. If you read the first two, do not attempt to compare this book to either of those. This book features younger characters and their view on the new world. And if you did not read the first two, you are in for one hell of a great story.
Side note - I really, really, really, really hope that Britta gets her own book. Just read the book and you'll find out why and agree with me. :)

This book affected me emotionally so much more than I expected.
It hit me in a very visceral, spectacular way!
The characters are so vivid, beautifully flawed, so interesting and incredibly likable.
They are facing the unimaginable and still keeping their humanity in a post apocalyptic world.
An illness has decimated almost everything/everyone and created hordes of zombies.
*Full disclosure-I’m not a big fan of apocalyptic romance or zombies.. and I’m obsessed with this book, the characters, the story and series. So, don’t let those things deter you from reading it!*
The writing is incredibly engaging, it’s so seamless. I think that’s impressive on its own and also because it’s a co-write. I’m pretty blown away by the two authors writing skills and style.
There are flashbacks and memories throughout, not a lot of them, but they are all very important to the story and characters. They all were exceptionally emotional to me, even the light hearted memories.
I felt emotionally raw while I was reading this story, the characters and their journey felt so believable, so unfair, so very tragic.
It’s not all negative, I promise!
And, that made the tender, happy and good moments really remarkable and striking!
The journey of the characters is superb, I can’t state it enough. This is the book I’m going to shout about from my rooftop!
I don’t want to spoil anything, there are a few twists and surprises.
I was on the edge and terrified at many points in the story.
I absolutely cherish these amazing characters! I entirely adore their journey!
There’s romance, there’s heat, steam and real feelings.
There’s amazing secondary characters that are really interesting, fun and entertaining.
There’s action and obviously so much emotion!
It’s gritty and uncomfortable at times, with so much amazing beauty in between!
It’s an epic story that I won’t forget and I will recommend to everyone! I already have started ;)

The Thicker Than Blood series is one of my all time favorites. It is just such an unique series and combines two of my favorite genres: post-apocalyptic and dark romance. It has been six years since the previous book released, however, I never stopped anticipating the next book. So when Claire and Madeline announced that they were back to writing together again, I got really freaking excited. There is just something about the constant danger and being able to fall in love during these crazy circumstances. The Blood That Binds tells the story of the brothers Logan and Lucas, and Lucas' best/girlfriend Willow. They have been surviving the post-apocalyptic world which is full of dangerous people and zombies. Logan is pretty strict and follows the rules to a T, however Lucas and Willow are more immature and more often than not don't really realize the danger they are putting themselves in. Logan is the oldest so he takes the leader role very seriously. However, when something happens that turns the trio's world upside down more than it is already, they find themselves facing things that happened in the past.
I am keeping it pretty vague because the blurb does the same and I just don't want to spoil it. The Blood That Binds is very different from the previous two books. First of all this is not a dark romance in my opinion. If you read the first two books in this series you know how dark and brutal the authors got with the characters. This wasn't really the case with this book. It was much lighter which disappointed me a bit unfortunately. I was really looking forward to the dark and gritty world. It did have a couple of brutal scenes but overall it wasn't really dark. Did I still enjoy the story? Yes, I did. In the beginning I was pretty annoyed with Willow and Lucas' immature behavior but was glad to see them grow further along the story. I loved seeing the characters dealing and healing from their demons. The side characters were great, and I enjoyed the plot. There was a twist that I saw coming from the beginning, so it didn't really surprise me. The writing was great and I am glad that the authors were able to come back to this series. I look forward to the next book, and I have a feeling that it'll be dark and brutal (at least I hope so).

After a terrible Fever called the Vaal Fever which spread so quickly, life was never the same for Logan, Luke and Willow. At such a young age, it forced them to grow up fast and fight to survive against the infected who because Creepers.
“We were just kids when it happened, with barely a foothold on life before Mother Nature made up her mind.”
Logan was my favorite character right from the start, he felt as if the entire world was on his shoulders and he had to step up to make sure they survive this madness.
“She was all I had left in this miserable fucking world, and I wasn’t going to just sit here and watch her die.”
Despite the story being a bit predictable I truly enjoyed it. The angry sex was my favorite part of the story and all that hot tension was ridiculously good. All the characters were so likable specially some of the side characters like Britta.
Overall; The Blood That Binds is a story about survivor and starting again. Readers who enjoy dystopia romance on post apocalyptic world will find this book appealing.

Seven years ago, the Vaal Fever spread throughout civilization and those who remain uninfected struggled to survive by scavenging and defending themselves against Creepers. Assuming the role of a leader, Logan takes responsibility for his brother and Willow as they navigate these unpredictable times.
With the timeline mostly in the present, the plot intermittently shifts to the past showing the painful influence on Logan’s childhood. With those memories and emotions, Logan remains rigid but his actions and words are based in self-preservation. As for Willow, she is the opposite with her spontaneous and fun-loving nature. Together, Logan and Willow are constantly arguing and this makes for a tense buildup for some angry sex.
From the beginning, I liked Logan and felt his burden. For most of the book, I struggled with Willow’s personality but she managed to finally find her way. The level of Creeper action was just enough for me, while remaining a character driven plot. The aspects of survival were interesting and the secondary characters enriched the story.
The Blood that Binds is about learning to listen your heart. This book would appeal to those seeking a romance in a dystopian setting. It can also be read as a standalone in the series.

I enjoyed this on the whole.

The three of them travel together, the 2 brothers and the younger brother's girlfriend.
The younger brother and his girlfriend have been together a long time.
The older brother's girlfriend of the time died when the virus hit.
The older brother is the Hero and the younger brother's girlfriend is the heroine.
The younger brother disappears, assumed dead, as odds are against him so the other 2 are left with little choice but to go on without him.
They end up together after months.
Relationship details.
The Hero can overhear the heroine and his younger brother when they were travelling together having sex at times, not much detail but bits and pieces.
The Hero and heroine cheat on the younger brother at one point but he never found out, it's not an one page scene, it happened in the past.
The Hero had been with other people since the end of the world, random women they had encountered, the heroine never knew.
No on page scenes of that, the heroine asks him at one point so he mentions a few encounters.
Once the Hero and heroine get together officially they are not with others but after the brother returns, (I thought this was obviously going to happens as there is no proof he's dead) the heroine allows him to kiss her and tries to return it but isn't into it. She stops it.
HEA together but unresolved issues with the younger brother who ends up living somewhere else.
It's not as dark as previous books in the series.

Madeline plinks the readers smack dab in the middle of the apocalyptic world at its fag end of desolate journey along with her three characters. Lucas & Logan brothers and Willow. It's survivalist's true nightmare setting, with dead scramblers and runners after them
Love still blossoms in the weirdest and scariest of settings albeit struggling and fighting.
It's a phenomenal world Madeline & Claire have created and their world play is full of dangerous twists and turns that kept me hooked and engaged.
Spine chilling details but the focus stays firmly on the characters not the setting.

My heart is still racing! Even after all the zombies I’ve seen and read, my pulse kicked up while immersed in this world. The introduction of new characters expanded the story so well, the writing is so clean, the stories so compelling. The main storyline will keep you on a rollercoaster, the good kind of ups and downs, til the very end. My mouth was hanging open a 1am! Madeline and Claire,again knocked this out of the park!

This was a great read!! I haven't read the other books in this series, it was easily read as a standalone and had me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning!!
I haven't read a zombie / post-apocalyptic book in ages, so this was a thoroughly riveting read for me. Lots going on in the world building, very detailed in the settings, I can clearly imagine this world as told. Lots of gory details on the zombies as well!
The story is set around 2 brothers, Lucas and Logan, and Lucas' childhood sweetheart Willow, all 3 having grown up together in the world as we know it, and have struggled to be together in this zombie filled world. They are barely scraping by, not living, just surviving. Lucas and Willow and very carefree in their attitude, a bit blase, not quite realising just how much danger they are constantly in. Logan is the serious one, always with set rules and procedures, on the lookout for danger. Logan and Willow are complete opposites and are always arguing, with Lucas being the go between. Life for them is a grueling cycle of finding food, water, shelter and not staying in one place too long. Life changes drastically for the trio when Logan leaves Lucas and Willow in a farmhouse to scout ahead, making sure they knew to be quiet and stay inside, but of course they don't listen and go outside for a bit of an adventure.....
It's a gripping read, lots of drama and angst, ups and downs.... a real rollercoaster of a ride this one!! There is also lots of pain, anguish and heartbreak along the way..... intensely emotional in parts. A real cracker of a read, I loved the main characters and their chemistry together, the side characters were brilliant with some crazy moments from them, adding a layer of much needed humour to the intense story line. Definitely worth the read, even if zombies are not your thing, the story line will have you on the edge throughout.
I haven't read a zombie / post-apocalyptic book in ages, so this was a thoroughly riveting read for me. Lots going on in the world building, very detailed in the settings, I can clearly imagine this world as told. Lots of gory details on the zombies as well!
The story is set around 2 brothers, Lucas and Logan, and Lucas' childhood sweetheart Willow, all 3 having grown up together in the world as we know it, and have struggled to be together in this zombie filled world. They are barely scraping by, not living, just surviving. Lucas and Willow and very carefree in their attitude, a bit blase, not quite realising just how much danger they are constantly in. Logan is the serious one, always with set rules and procedures, on the lookout for danger. Logan and Willow are complete opposites and are always arguing, with Lucas being the go between. Life for them is a grueling cycle of finding food, water, shelter and not staying in one place too long. Life changes drastically for the trio when Logan leaves Lucas and Willow in a farmhouse to scout ahead, making sure they knew to be quiet and stay inside, but of course they don't listen and go outside for a bit of an adventure.....
It's a gripping read, lots of drama and angst, ups and downs.... a real rollercoaster of a ride this one!! There is also lots of pain, anguish and heartbreak along the way..... intensely emotional in parts. I was the luckiest gal on the dystopian post apocalyptic book block. Why is that? because I was gifted an ARC in exchange for an honest review of the anticipated third book in the Thicker Than Blood series written by Mad's and Claire. Now, I KNOW... People either LOVE Zombie's or HATE 'em.
I am personally in somewhere with the *haters* typically, but I was book bossed in to reading the first book, and I was not-so-patiently-waiting for this one! I love this series from the start and up to right now. Each of these books are stand alone stories and beautifully written. Books like this one, reminds us about human connection, and its importance in our existence. If you're here for the Zombie's you'll get a wee bite... here and there, but this isn't a zombie story at all.
This third story, The Blood That Binds, starts us out well after the apocalypse, introducing us to new character's Willow, Lucas, and Logan-- three young adults who have essentially grown up in the after life. Willow and Lucas are childhood sweethearts, who tried to remain in their carefree existence well after-care free living is safe. Logan, the big angry brother, is purely in survival mode and not interested in finding a new way of life. The trio are just trying to live day-to-day and are just barely keep themselves safe. They aren't really living. They are purely surviving. They are stuck in an awful cycle of pain, loss, anger, fatigue, and of course avoiding 'creeper's' and 'hordes'. Until one day, the carefree kids didn't listen, and then life's ugly cycle gets broken down and rebuilt.
That's when the story really takes off. This is when you meet a crazy ass cast of characters living life in what I call, the post apocalyptic Shangri-La. There is more stable food sources, housing, farming, medical care, running water. There is also tons of angst, a few twists, and real LOVE. Sweet love. Vulnerable love. This is a wonderful glimpse in to the hope that humanity can return, and go on again after what humans thought would be their end. This book kept perfect pace, there isn't a moment that you feel the story isn't moving and building. I loved it from start to finish!

Full of angst and pain this story is so riveting I had to force myself to take breaks to let things settle, two brothers, one girl. Willow and Lucas have been a couple since their teens, Logan is older and finds himself the one to mostly keep them safe. He is angry, frustrated and struggling. There are shocks and twists along the way, heartache, definitely. But Logan is stronger than he thinks he is when push comes to shove, then Willow finds his vulnerability. Sometimes I wanted to scream at the characters, stop being stupid or just stop arguing but in the end all of it had a outpace. I wonder if at some point we will get more of them in a future book, I'd like to see some issues resolved. Gripping, intense and emotional, these two authors put both characters and readers through the wringer but I wouldn't have it any other way. Started 23/9/21 Finished 24/9/21

Even though this is book three in the series Thicker Than Blood it can be read as a standalone. But I highly recommend you read first two books they are just so good. This book is a rollercoaster of a ride from start to finish. I finished it last night and still thinking about it. We meet new characters maybe we will see them in future books we can only hope I really enjoyed this book from start to finished and can't wait for next one.

I'm glad for the next one in this series to finally appear. It's a different tone here than the previous in the series. More NA I guess w/a slight love triangle. I just find it was really predictable with the scenes that were coming up. It was just okay, but not my favorite in the series so far. I'm curious to know how many more there will be in the series. I love this cover.

This isn’t my usual genre but I’m glad I gave it a read. It was brilliant. The writing was honest and drew you into the book. Logan, Lucas and Willow are our three main characters surviving in an apocalyptic world. During their journey they discover who they truly are. This book has so much : love, friendship, betrayal, forgiveness which each character has to discover. They each have a different journey to make. Madeline and Claire wrote such a descriptive world where the zombies were so real. I loved it!

Finished this book in one day so it’s pretty awesome! The only reason I didn’t give it 5/5 is cause it’s so predictable. Not in a bad way, but in a way in which I wish the authors took more chances to write us a gritty story. The previous two books in this series are definitely darker and have more true wear and tear. This one felt a bit young adult. BUT! I did finish it in one day so definitely worth reading.

Well written, heartbreaking, passionate and all consuming! I could not put it down. I mean Logan, hot damn ladies! Growly, bosy, protective. All my jam!

This was another great book in the Thicker Than Blood series. With the world as they know it forever changed after a virus infected a majority of the population, attacking the living and bring the dead back to live, aka Dead Heads, Willow, Luke and Logan struggle daily to survive. Being all that remains alive from their original group, they spend their days scavenging for food, shelter and other basic essentials and trying to avoid threats from both the dead and the living. Not knowing who they can trust, they only have each other which causes it's own problems.
The book focusses around Logan, his younger brother Luke and the latter's girlfriend from high school (and better times), Willow. It's not smooth sailing, especially since Logan and Willow constantly fight and bicker, seeming to hate each other's guts. Logan, a former high school football legend, approaches life with a harsh outlook, remaining stoic, serious and uncompromising. If you love your book boyfriends jealous and possessive, Logan definitely ticks those boxes. Luke, on the other hand, is the peacekeeper, trying to keep everyone happy. He's kind, thoughtful and lives for Willow. To be honest, I think some readers might want to stab Willow with a rusty nail. She comes across as immature at times as she's extremely impulsive to the point of being selfish and self-indulgent as well as being incredibly stubborn at times. I liked her as I really enjoyed her transformation throughout the book but it wasn't easy at times. The book is told from both Logan and Willow's point of view, which I loved, because they were polar opposites and you got a great insight into what their priorities were and how their mind ticked. An occasional smattering of flashbacks pop up here and there to help take the reader back and see how events for the main characters unfolded and helped shape their personalities. The addition of some great secondary characters that complemented the main characters' stories also made for entertaining reading, especially Britt, a terrific kick-toot woman.
I'm a big fan of zom poc and loved this book. Logan and Luke both had an uneasy childhood that was made worse by the dead coming back to life. When the unthinkable, but almost inevitable, happens to one in the group, the lives of the three main characters, and their relationship to each other, is changed forever. Hate becomes just the flip side to love as a beautiful, all-encompassing romance blooms from ashes. I know that sounds overly dramatic, but I'm trying not to give spoilers and as cheesy as the previous line sounds, it really was a story of hope, transformation and new beginnings as a future becomes more attainable and some sense of normalcy possible for survivors. There are plenty of near-death experiences to keep you on your toes, some gore (which was soooooo good), some feel-good moments, heaps of action and a lot of nail biting.
If you haven't read any other books in this series, you can absolutely read this one as a stand alone. It 100% holds up on its own and while all of the books in this series tear your heart out a little bit, I think this story would be a great introduction to Thicker Than Blood if you haven't dipped your toe in before because while there was a perfect amount of drama and angst, I loved the romance side of things in this novel and I'm happy to say that I wasn't an inconsolable wreck at the end of the book like another in the series that shall remain unnamed (I still haven't forgiven the authors lololol). If you're someone like me that likes to read things in order, you really don't need to here and there's also a brief synopsis at the start if you feel like you need a quick catch up of a world gone to hell.
The worse thing about these books? Waiting for the next one lol. And I absolutely luuuuuuurve the covers in this series and this one is another knock out.

Wow! A truly phenomenal read!!
The third book in the Thicker than blood series (but can be read as a complete stand-alone).
A story of survival and new beginnings; Of love in the midst of silent chaos and anguish.
Two brothers, one childhood sweetheart. Logan, Lucas and Willow were barely teenagers when the world fell apart. Everything changed in a moment and they had to get to grips with their new reality.
The complex and compelling characters instantly drew me in. I became a big fan of swoon-worthy Logan from the start - his brave, responsible, tough exterior yet slightly broody, cinnamon roll personality was brilliant. And Willow’s sassy, feisty, thrill-seeking persona gave me all kinds of palpitations! But I loved her too! Britta also made a fab secondary character that definitely deserves her own novel! I loved her!! She’s made my enjoyment of the story that much better with all her awesomeness!
Then there was the intriguing dynamics between them all - so much went on that I was a cocktail of emotional mess throughout.
The flashbacks gave the story more depth and context. And the intense real-time narrative and slow-burn romance kept me gripping my kindle.
The story was utterly shattering and harrowing but there was something so captivating and entertaining about this book that I could not stop reading.
However, what I liked the most about this story was that it wasn’t simply focusing on the apocalypse (zombie survival) but rather the characters themselves; their relationships; their sense of hope and community building and a devastatingly beautiful romance (with my favourite kind of enemies to lovers vibe going on).
The premise was unlike any other I’ve read in this genre - original, imaginative and simply stunning. The story itself was carried out with such fierce control and beauty that it kept me in awe - both writers producing something truly moving, frequently surprising and consistently intriguing. From the very first page to the last, I was totally gripped!

This isn’t my usual genre by any means, yet I can’t get enough of this series. If you’ve ever considered reading a zombie book but are still sitting on the fence, this is the series for you. These two authors do a tremendous job with it and sucked me in from the beginning of book 1.
I stumbled across this because I had read everything else Sheehan had written and so I decided to give these a try as well and I’m so glad I did. Although there was a bit of a wait between book 2 and 3 it’s now overwhelming clear to me (which I highly expected to be the case) that the wait was well worth it.
These characters will pull at your heartstrings. Wanting to find out if they were going to make it out of every sticky situation had me staying up late to read. I was so wrapped up in these characters I felt like waiting for the answers wasn’t even an option. I loved everything about this series including the ending. I’m not gonna lie, I’m sad I've finished this book and I have a bit of a book hangover. I’m not ready to say goodbye to my friends yet.

This is my favorite book of the series by far.
We see some familiar faces and some new ones in TBtB.
Logan+Lucas+ and Willow find themselves in a way
better environment, and surrounded by better people than
in the previous books. You also see these characters adapting
better, finding themselves in better environments, and better circumstances. In "The Blood That Binds" obviously takes place
a few years in the future, giving the people time to acquire
knowledge again, via people that still have morals+values.
They are mostly thriving because of a self contained little city
that they've created to make everyone more safe. You get to
see the dynamic between Logan, Lucas and Willow and how their relationships change due to circumstances and time.
I loved, loved it! Can't wait to see what's in the next book, and if we'll also be seeing familiar faces and places.

This type of book isn't usually my thing... but boy have I changed my mind!. The writing is top notch. It has everything I love in a book... the personal connections of people, angst, action and humor even during an apocalyptic time. This is the third book in the series but can be read as a stand-alone. Trust me, I’ll be reading the other two very soon. This story which made me cry, scream, laugh and keep reading long past my bedtime. The main characters, Lucas and Logan, who are brothers and Willow capture your attention from the get go.

I loved this apocalyptic/ end of the world romance. I’ve waiting years for another novel in this series and I am so glad that it held up to the previous novels!
If I could change one thing it would be that I got this book earlier. Waiting the years I had to wait for this novel was too long. Madeline and Claire write seamlessly and amazingly well together. It’s a shame that there aren’t more novels from these amazing authors.

4.5 worth the wait stars.
I love this world of zombies and the dark storylines both authors have worked together to bring us. While I read a lot of post apocalyptic books, I don’t read a lot of zombie books but I adore this world. This book made my heart so happy. It still had dark elements and some twists but overall the book had a bit of a lighter feel despite the dark setting….and it was perfect.

First of all welcome back Madeline and thank you Claire for bringing her back.
I absolutely love the thicker than blood series and this for me is my favourite. The blood that binds hooked me from the onset and the main reason I put it down was to sleep so I could go back to it. Logan oh Logan so much angst in him I just wanted to give him a big cuddle, his character called out to me and I connected with him straight away. Willow I struggled with but as the book went on she grew on me. Madeline and Claire thank you for writing this Fantastic book I love, love, love it

Willow I struggled with but as the book went on she grew on me. Madeline and Claire thank you for writing this Fantastic book I love, love, love it

These two never cease to amaze with their talent. I would read anything they write. This series is set in such a brutal world full of flawed characters you can't help but root for. I always do my best to avoid spoilers so just do yourself a favor and binge this series like I did.

First of all, #teamlogan, second of all OMG LEISEL IS BACK!!! I always love seeing previously loved characters doing well. Madeline and Claire do it again! Couldn’t put this down!
