Title: Dead Meat Day 8
Author: Nick Clausen
Rating: 4/5

Synopsis:

We have reached Day 8 of the zombie outbreak and things are still spiralling out of control. Dan is determined he knows how to finally put a stop to this outbreak and he is willing to risk all, even himself to ensure this happens.
After a lucky escape, William discovers that Europe is close to being destroyed and not just at the hands of the virus as he races to help Dan put an end to this before it is too late and Europe is lost forever.

Review:
I am so happy that I haven’t had to wait a long time for this instalment and Day 7 really left me hanging. Dead Meat has been a real explosive series with lots of action over these chaotic 8 days and I couldn’t want to sink my teeth into it further. I have been on a real adventure with Nick and if fast paced, snappy reads are your thing then he is definitely the author for you.

The last instalment focused on Dan and Iver and I was very excited to see what would happen next. As always, we are thrown straight back into the story. Action kicks in and you begin to feel the characters panic instantly.

I think the best way to some up Day 8 would be to say it was very atmospheric. There was a tenseness throughout and I found quite an eerie feel at times. I love how each Day has you feeling a variety of different emotions. I also found this to be quite an emotional instalment compared to some of the others.

It wouldn’t have been Nick’s work without some twists and turns too, he definitely knows how to keep catching you off guard! I also enjoyed how he changed things up for this instalment, I felt there was less action compared to the other instalments but this Day resonated with me on another level, which may be what Nick intended.

I’ve said this many times, but Nick is a very talented writer, who is able to pull you in and doesn’t let go, his writing brings everything to life in my head and I generally feel I am on a apocalyptic journey when I read his books. And for the first time since starting the series, I have felt a sense of hope and felt tensions lift, which has now left me excited once again for the next instalment!

Such a different take on zombies. I really loved the solution they are able to figure out. I just don't wanna type about it because of spoilers!!

Brains. Brains. Brains. Zombies are everywhere. Nowhere is safe. And my favorite characters, Dan, a young man taking on the evils of his world, is determined to go home. What he will find there? Will it be the death of him? After all, Nick Clausen is not afraid to kill off his characters, and every time I find one I like, I worry…

Book 7 ended with a cliffhanger, and I would like to thank Nick for getting Book 8 written so quickly. I was hanging by a fingernail, because…well. I can’t really say. You will need to find out for yourself what I’m talking about.

As soon as I finished Chapter One, I could see that Nick was going to torture me the very end, and all I can say is…BRING IT ON.

More zombies. More heroics. More Death.

Many surprises and heart stopping moments, and another threat, other than zombies, hangs over their heads.

I have been amazed how Nick Clause has kept the series moving, able to keep me eagerly devouring the words, watching, wondering, how it will all end.

So much I could not anticipate and I loved it. Even though I am not sure how I feel about the ending for this book, once I started I couldn’t stop.

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Dead Meat: Day by Nick Clausen.

Dead Meat: Day 8 by Nick Clausen is the second to last installment in this incredible series. On day eight, one member of the crew learns information that takes the situation to a whole new terrifying level. Now they must race against the clock faster than they already were. But can they accomplish their task before it’s too late?

Full disclosure: I was given a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This did not affect my rating in any way. I also purchased a copy.

Day seven left us hanging on such a cliffhanger! I gotta admit that I was so nervous to pick this one up to see what was going to happen next. I was so fearful of the worst, but also hung on to a bit of hope that it would all turn out okay.

When this tale kicks off, Iver and William are both in the middle of very tense and life-threatening situations, while Dan is also in a tense situation as he is getting ready to try to end this whole thing.

Thought provoking and exciting

This book has lots of my favorite characters. I’ve been a fan of Dan from book one, and Birgit and Dennis are incredibly interesting people.
I couldn’t put this book down. Filled with one engrossing chapter after another, this was a great read.
Unfortunately a few of the developments near the end of the book have left me in a quandary. They’re well written and make sense, but I’m not sure I know what to make of them. I don’t really like them and they are different from the direction I thought things were headed. Kudos to the author for taking risks and doing something different and unexpected.

Day 8 continues Nick Clausen’s thrilling zombie apocalypse as we read along watching as the world devolves into death and violence a day at a time. The pieces of the puzzle have been laid out – the “virus” is spreading, there is no way to control it, and America has made an ominous threat...if the “virus” cannot be controlled, contained, or cured...they will resort to weapons of mass destruction to take out the threat to make sure that America remains untainted. But is there hope? Dan is continuing his course to reach Dennis and his mother in the hopes that she can reverse what has been done. But the million dollar question is...not just can she...but will she?
Day 8 really starts off with a bang. The author, with all of his books, includes a map showing the spread of the virus. When I saw this book’s map...my jaw literally dropped. I was shocked and more eager than ever to dive into this book. This book has quite a few twists and it picks up where Day 7 left off. I was on pins and needles when it came to William and how things were left hanging. The author does not disappoint. There is quite a bit going on and you’ll be on the edge of your seat quite often. One character after another finds themselves in intense situations as we both pick up where last scenes were left and then proceed further with new situations that leave you wondering...how will they get out of this one??
There are honestly moments of where it’s hard to remember that all of this is taking place in ONE day. There are moments of where I want to think that another day has passed, but it really hasn’t. This book and series are really addicting, but there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel, but like we were forewarned, no one is out of the woods.
This book will leave you eager for Day 9 to learn what happens next. I like how things are beginning to come full circle and we get some answers as to what really happened to spark all of this death and tragedy for these characters, but there’s so much more! I’m choosing to rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I like the twists, the surprises, the danger, and the glimmer of light at the end of the herd of zombies. Hope is alive and I’m looking forward to what comes next. Let’s just hope that they can beat the ticking clock that is now looming.

Karma is a bitch, Bitch.

It's crazy that this series is about to end in just one book. It's been an incredible journey, and like the other books, this one had a lot to offer.

Dan heads back to Denmark to hopefully find a solution to all this chaos, and Iver continues to fight for survival on the island he's stuck on. Will they persevere against the odds, or come up short like so many others have?

I think what really worked in this particular novel is that there are so many developments, and it's a real roller coaster ride. Since we're almost at the end of the series, a lot needed to happen, and overall I was pretty satisfied.

We finally got some serious answers as to how this might end, and though I give Clausen major brownie points for creativity, something about the actual solution doesn't feel quite right to me. Even after the solution is explained it's a little difficult to digest, so maybe it's that.

That being said, Clausen doesn't completely reinvent the wheel. You can count on lots of great action, some seriously sticky situations, and plenty of heartache.

Dan's POV definitely stood out more than Iver's did this time, but both were enjoyable. Dan has really grown a bit in this one, and Iver's side of things felt a bit more tragic. Come on you guys, you can make it!

If you've gotten this far in the series, don't stop now! It's so worth it!

This is the next to last book in the Dead Meat series from Danish author Nick Clausen. It is a gritty, hyper-realistic story that gives a day-by-day account of the zombie apocalypse.

By the end of this volume, the zombie outbreak has expanded to cover the entire European continent, most of the African continent, and a large amount of western Asia. For the most part, this book revolves around Dan’s attempt to undo the Voodoo curse that is responsible for the zombie contagion. I like that this series goes back to the original roots of the zombie genre as the source of the zombie apocalypse. While there is a lot going on, it’s obvious that this volume is setting up the end of the series in book 9.

I gave Dead Meat – Day 8 five stars on Goodreads. Book 9 publishes next week!

I am always on edge when reading this series. It never fails. So we continue to see what will happen in this series. So we know now that this is not a virus it is a curse. Dan is on a mission to get back to the person who started it. Iver is trying to remain alive and to save the toddler Adam. It is intense waiting to see if William makes it back to help Dan. The here come the Americans helping people evacuate to Camp Future. Say What? Seems like there is a plan going on. Can Dan convince Birgit to help them with the cure. Oh man does it leave us wondering if they will be able to accomplish what they need to before something else happens. I cannot wait for day 9.

We reached day 8 in this zombie apocalypse and things are getting worse every minute. The book focuses mostly on Dan who is determined to end this thing at all cost. And with the help of his friends he might be able to!
But we also get a look into the House on the island where Iver is still stuck with Agnes and the baby. Will they make it out of there or will the zombies break the door first?

Day 8 picks up right where Day 7 left us, it's thoroughly suspenseful. I was always on edge but I enjoyed reading this book so much! I'm excited to continue the series soon!

I can't believe it's already day 8. :)

I'm kind of happy that there aren't all books out, I don't think I could stop reading after one ends. :) The last one ended on a cliffhanger, this one is no different and I can't wait to see how this will all end.

Dan and his new friend made it back to Holger's house, but one little lie and he end up locked in gasoline-filled hallways, while Liz waits outside.

Willaim and his doggy get a lucky break and find a car key. Now they just have to drive through hordes of zombies and to Dan. On the way, they get picked up by a helicopter but received some distressing news.

Iver is still stuck in the house and wants to find a way to get to another room with Anges and kid, but with so many zombies around it seems pointless.

It's an incredibly fast paces zombie series, each book just gets better, the story developed further, and there is a slight chance for a cure, but now they have a wickedly short deadline. And there seems to be a little light on the end of a tunnel.

Can't wait to see what happens next!

Highly recommend the series!

This is an enjoyable and easy to read zombie series that has interesting characters, a defined ending, and helps the reader understand the role of hope and faith in overcoming disaster. There’s good development throughout the book series and the characters are multi dimensional. The story seems to lag occasionally and, binge reading it as I did, find some of the scenes to be repetitive. However overall I really enjoyed the series and I’m happy I picked up the multiple compilation.

I've really enjoyed how the plot has unfold and the motivations of the different characters. The spiritual nature of the infection has been a real feature for me and there are probably a few themes and metaphors at work if you look long and hard enough. Funnily enough with all of the modern technology and weapons at the end of the day everything hangs in the balance on the simple motivations (and luck) of a few young people. Day 9 is looking like a special book.

We're getting close to who, why, where and how

The personality of some of the characters make the story more exciting. Their thought process as what needs to be done and the actual completion of the tasks is so well written. I very anxious for #9 but I won't rush you..I'll just read another one of your books!

This review is also featured on Behind the Pages: Dead Meat Day 8

Civilization has collapsed. Allies turn against one another in a last-ditch attempt to save themselves. The zombie apocalypse has very nearly wiped out all of humanity. But there are still a few who hold onto one last thin thread of hope. And they are willing to risk their lives to try and save the world.

Dead Meat Day 8 brings the plot back to the origin of the zombie apocalypse as Dan searches for a cure. Readers will finally have confirmation if all their guessing and theories are in fact true. Alliances will be formed and a final desperate battle will begin. Characters readers have met throughout the series will begin to make appearances, wrapping up their arcs as the series nears the end.

The focus of Dead Meat Day 8 shifts away from relying on action and combat situations. While zombies and antagonistic humans are still present threats, a new type of horror makes its way into Nick Clausen's writing. A psychological aspect comes into play as characters experience the burnout associated with trying to survive.

But this book is no less entertaining than the previous novels. There are still twists and turns readers won’t see until the scenes are played out on the page. And Nick Clausen is able to spin the constant background threats in different ways to keep readers enthralled. He will also introduce a new threat, seamlessly weaving it into the storyline to raise the stakes one last time. I am excited to see where this series will end and who will be left standing.

This is the best book in the series by far! THIS is the book I've been waiting for since I started reading the series! 😁😆

There's DEFINITELY a light at the end of the tunnel, although getting to the final chapter was a nail-biting couple of hours...

I can't wait to see what happens on Day 9!
