Anthony William was born with the unique ability to converse with a high-level spirit who provides him with extraordinarily accurate health information that’s often far ahead of its time. When Anthony was four years old, he shocked his family by announcing at the dinner table that his symptom-free grandmother had lung cancer. Medical testing soon confirmed the diagnosis.

For over 25 years, Anthony has devoted his life to helping people overcome and prevent illness—and discover the lives they were meant to live. What he does is several decades ahead of scientific discovery. His compassionate approach, which takes into account well-being on every level, not just physical health, has time and again given relief and results to those who seek him out.

Anthony William’s new book Cleanse to Heal has a lot of repeat information from his previous books, but more helpful, healing advice as well. A more in-depth review to follow.

I wanted more info on the epstein-barr virus, so a friend recommended this book. I got to one part that mentioned it almost in passing and grouped with other pathogens. Not what I hoped for.

I couldn't finish it. I would normally tough it out, and glean all I could, then give another star if there are other principles that could be salvaged. But the crimes of the diet recommendations are so heinous, I just couldn't.

This is why.

Weston A Price was a dentist who traveled the world in the 1930s. He was looking for reasons for the decline of dental health which he believed had to do with diet and all the "new fangled foods" he was seeing in America.

He analysed the diets of 16 "primative" cultures. He noted straight teeth, crooked teeth, birth defects and illnesses. In all the cases of the later three, he found direct correlations to the fact that a person or his/her parents had started eating the "foods of civilization." Whenever these people returned to their ancestral diets, they improved.

He studied cultures who ate a lot of seafood and not a lot of red meat, people who ate mostly vegetarian but with a lot of milk products, and people who ate mostly meat and milk and hardly any vegetables. ALL of these groups lead long and realatively disease free lives. Not dismissing effects of famine from natural disasters, this is generally speaking.

The point is, there are principles on how to eat food from every food group. Eliminating one food group to aspire to better health is just plain naive. That's what this book does. It goes futher and even eliminates the common ground that warring groups can agree upon, like healthy fats, lacto fermented foods and the importance of bioflora in the gut.

Williams makes claims of what causes disease without explaining how, or why, or giving any kind of reason to believe the claims. For example, he says that supplementing with apple cider vinegar will pickle your organs. Seriously?!?! Soooo he has stood by on an autopsy and has seen pickled organs?!? Or read reports of pickled organs? Has he seen ultrasounds of pickled organs? Who believes this crap? His diet chapters are filled with the same nonsense.

I'll help people out here to save a lot of time, energy, and pain and explain the principles of eating from the different food goups. These foods are obviously ideally organic. Real organic, not what is done to pass the government qualifications.

In a nutshell:
~Grain products: Not franken-wheat or the like. Soured or sprouted as much as possible, or soaked and rinsed.

~Meat products: Not low fat. You want wild, or grass fed. Marinated, and/or slow cooked. Some raw. Think of sushi or wild pig cooked all day in a pit. Rare steak. Broth was liberally incorporated. Fat was prized. So were organs above muscle meat. There is a reason for that.

~Veggies: Cooked, lacto-fermented. Not many were eated raw. There is a reason for that with some groups of them.

~Fruits: Raw or stewed. Many help digest meat and grains. Sugars were unrefined and needed to be eaten in limited quanitites. That may not have always been done.

~Dairy: Has been used by mankind for thousands of years. If you don't like it becuase it is milk from another mammel, then don't drink it. But it doesn't cause disease if your ancestors have used it, and you consume it grassfed, raw, whole, and/ or lactofermented. Cheese included.

~Condiments: Traditionally were lacto-fermented to help digestion, or were collegan filled sauces to help digestion.

~Beverages: Many were lacto-fermented to help with digestion.

~Fats: Not the horrible vegetable oils (corn, soy) on the market today. Fat was prized. Especially fat from grass-fed animals. Raw butter. Supplements like flax seed or cod liver oil were valuable. Think ghee.

The key principle to all of these food groups is when predigestion (lacto-fermentation) could be used, it was. Digestion is the key, and the whole point of eating.

Our world is having serious problems with many of these food groups and allergies are everywhere. We don't like sourdough anymore. Well, there are consequeses becuase if you don't eat it soured, you will have problems digesting it, and it will wreak havoc on your digestive system and then you will become allergic. Same with dairy. Don't get me started on how our present pasteurization came into being. Raw and most often, cultured. Our DNA is being altered and these issues are being passed down.

So all these have been historically proven to bequeath long healthy lives with straight healthy teeth. Generally speaking. Human nature prevailed in these societies also. I'm sure there were people who had sweet tooths and were found hiding somewhere chowing down on the maple sugar cubes. Or Islanders who ate way too much fruit.

History proves what is healthy, not necessarily studies. Especially funded studies that results in the need for a new pharmaceutical.

Anyway, now I feel like I am rambling and trying to cover too much stuff.

If you want a good cleanse, there are a bazillion out there. There isn't one right way. Find one that appeals to you and jump in.

If this book had been divinely inspired, as is claimed, the writing would be better. Save yourself 400 pages and just drink celery juice in the morning.

This book has changed my life forever! I will also keep this book nearby and recommend it to anyone who is looking for answers around chronic illness! I am finally healing chronic acne I have had since I was 13 years old, as well as chronic depression and anxiety! This book is so empowering and I will be reading it over and over again. Also, this journey is not just about cleansing it’s about spiritual strength and finding deeper meaning in life.

I probably should have looked up the author and his credentials before diving in, but I was about a quarter of the way through this book before I started to doubt some of what he was saying. I won't be finishing this book or changing my diet based on the opinion of "a medium who offers pseudoscientific medical and health advice based on alleged communication with a spirit".

This book rips off Ayurvedic teachings and the SDA health message as its own. I have some friends who are obsessed with this guy so I gave it a read, but it’s just another white dude assimilating someone else’s ideas as his own.

I didn't really read this book, more like perused it.

My library had exactly two books on PCOS (which is my main concern) and this book contains misinformation about it's source and is potentially harmful if you don't do any other research. PCOS is generally accepted to be a genetic syndrome affecting women's hormones. It's not caused by a virus. I also read the section on acne (which is a side effect of PCOS) and Williams claims it's caused a the strep virus?? Um, no. Also hormonal - which is why teenagers are more affected than adults. As for the very long list of things the cleanses claims to cure or treat, it made me laugh (which is why I give it one star and not zero stars) - sounds like a miracle, doesn't it? Yeah, it's not.

Also, no nutritional information with the recipes.

I didn't want this to work. I hate people who take medical advice from spiritualists. I wanted to write him off as a total quack. Buuuuut I also haven't had great luck with medical advice from doctors, so I read the whole damn book and decided to find it a try. Celery juice is a miracle worker. The heavy metal detox and liver smoothies are phenomenal and they WORK. I wouldn't recommend going on a permanent no protein, no fat diet. I wouldn't give someone with autoimmune issues high loads of nightshades (sorry, MM, but our bodies can't handle it).I also don't agree with the idea that intermittent fasting is "bad." But, as mentioned, I have seen fewer autoimmune flares since adopting the celery juice and morning smoothie routine, so I'll take what works and chuck the rest.

I grabbed this book as I was looking for a way to change the course of my Coronavirus diet. I've skimmed a few Medical Medium books, but this was the first I read fully and followed. I did the Advanced 3-6-9 Cleanse in late May of 2020 and dropped a fast 14 pounds. It was only a 9 days cleanse so was very doable. What shocked me is the weight didn't just come rebounding back.

I've continued on with the Heavy Metal Detox cleanse and have lost even more weight. Currently at day 46 of a planned 90-day program. Heavy Metal Dextos is just one particular smoothie each morning. The rest of the day is up to you.

This book is full of differing plans, drinks, and recipes to best fit whatever your goals might be.
I believe I'll do the 3-6-9 on an annual basis.

Excellent book, have done his cleanses 9 times and they have absolutely changed my health. I used to have zero energy and have horrible digestion. My cholesterol which was always in the 200s is now a great 150. I feel lightness and well. This book has changed my life.

Well.. I DNFed this one. I was interested in this book because of the many great reviews, and because it said it was an alternative form of treatment for a health issue I deal with.

The opening endorsements were pretty staggering. Hollywood types and doctors abound in them for pages upon pages. I was unaware that a health book could be so popular in Hollywood circles. At this point I wasn’t sure whether I should be more interested or more concerned about the content. On to the first chapter.

The first chapter detailed how all dietary methods for improving health are shots in the dark. All methods are useless and cannot help. All except.. this one method in this book!..

Why? What makes this book so special? The author says that this book is the only book that will help dietary issues because: it is ‘FROM ABOVE.’ … 😬…😳.

Yes. From above. Like divine communication. Apparently this author doesn’t actually have any medical credentials. He says he receives communication from ‘Spirit.’ This is why the series is called ‘Medical Medium.’ Yes. That kind of medium.

Sooo… DNFed.

Who knows. Maybe the author has enough basic medical in here to help some people a bit.. maybe. But I was expecting something that was more medically informed.. and a bit less spooky.

I’m a quarter of the way through the book and keep wondering at what point will I actually get any actionable material from this book.

So far besides making it sound like we live in a world that is so dangerous that it is a mystery how anybody lives past the age of 30, I haven’t found anything personally helpful.

Agreed that in a society that largely thrives on processed food almost anybody can get convinced into following a trendy sounding diet like paleo, keto etc to reach fitness goals without realizing how it actually affects their body, however, that doesn’t mean every person other than this author has no clue what they are doing. An entire chapter is dedicated to talk about just this.

I would have enjoyed reading the book more if the tone used wasn’t so condescending and the focus was the cleanse itself instead of a thesis on why no one else know what they are talking about.

Will complete the review if I make it to the end.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Anthony Williams has a truckload of ideas that do not seem very practical. Virtually every single one of his cleanses begins with 16 oz of celery juice, first thing in the morning, preferably freshly juiced. Reality check: I live in a small apartment. Where am I going to put a juicer? Ever used one of those things? Most models have a dozen moving parts that make it hard to assemble, and then you have to take it apart and clean it immediately, otherwise the fruit and vegetable pulp hardens like cement. Juicers are also noisy, and I don't live alone. Why should other slumbering members of the household be woken up by my machine? In all fairness, the book does say that celery juice maintains its cleansing properties for about 24 hours, so if you can't juice first thing in the morning, that's ok.

Williams says not to bother with fermented foods. Every other nutrition article published of late seems to extol the virtues of fermentation and/or making your own kombucha. In recent weeks, I've been drinking a 1/2 bottle of kombucha daily, and it seems to be helping my digestive difficulties.

Williams also states to "avoid water with a pH above 8.0, whether or not you use an alkalized water machine." Alkalized water machine? Er, is that available at the local Target store? And where do I put it in this small apartment? I just went on Amazon to look it up. The cheapest one costs almost $300, and the deluxe model costs four figures!

Williams has a slew of celebrity endorsements. I guess with their huge houses, staff juicers, and chefs, they can afford this. Pas moi.

Tony has the makings of a fine cult leader. I really don't know what to rate this since it has to be put into practice first but I think a lot of what he says regarding clogging the liver with fat, heavy metals and all the other toxins we encounter makes sense. I know I sure feel better when I juice and eat fruits and veggies vs. carbs and oils. Sure, he has a wee bit of a delusion of grandeur reminding us over and over how special his words are because they come from a divine source - but that doesn't necessarily mean this Jesus of nutritional healing is wrong in the message. I'll juice some celery.

This author was the only one to provide the correct information for myself to follow to help me with my health issues. As usual Anthony William provides clear & precise information to help you heal your body and doesn't claim his suggestions are a quick fix, it is something you have to work with and change your lifestyle. There are also plenty testimonies on Instagram, YouTube etc if you want to hear people's stories. The author is very present there as well - he started the celery juice band wagon!!

Cleanse to Heal by Anthony William

I’ll be honest: there’s some good information in this book. Yes, dairy and oils cause inflammation and by going plant-based vegan, you can change your life and reverse chronic disease and other conditions (I’m in the middle of this transformation now!)

However, I’m only giving this book 1 star because it is lacking real scientific studies and peer-reviewed data that is publicly available. There’s also a LOT OF MISINFORMATION and crazy claims. The author doesn’t care about accuracy and didn’t do the legwork. (Which can be seen on how he is a medical source for Gwenyth Paltrow’s Goop.)

This is like a poor man’s version of the much better book “How Not to Die” by Dr. Michael Greger, an actual medical doctor who has read every nutrition study under the sun with his team that he evaluates daily at nutritionfacts.org

I read this book because I found the claims compelling, and some of the info lined up with my protocol for holistically healing my autoimmune disease and slowly tapering down on my prescription medication as my inflammation stays in normal levels. Plant based diet, liver support, celery juice, hydration, targeted supplements — totally, these are genuine things that my registered nutritionist put in my treatment plan.

But some of the other stuff? It reads dubious to me, especially considering the author has no real medical or nutrition credentials (BIG red flag.) just by going vegan and eating clean you can massively change your life, but the “cleanses” in this book are overly simplifying the truth about the key role of the gut and oral microbiome and it’s role in disease and weight loss.

So skip this book and go watch some Nutrition Facts videos instead. Or even better, read Dr. Greger’s How Not to Die. You’ll actually learn something based in the learnings of scientific research.

I am 100% not sure why everyone is hyped about this. “Drink celery juice. Eat an all fruit diet. Be well!” Yeeaaaahhhhh, um, not how it works. Though I did pick up some good ideas to add into my daily habits, the overall sense of this book was, odd. The first, what, 6 pages were solely dedicated to “recommendations” from celebrities on how the author’s “understanding of food” was mind-blowing. Maybe it’s bc I don’t give rat’s ass what influencers or celebrities are touting and I fully dig into science based medical truth. So, yeah, pass.

Not a morsel of evidence to back any claims and I’m 100 pages in. This is not helpful for people who are actually reading to learn how to make a difference in their health. So unfortunately, despite popularity, I won’t be reading more or trying the recipes in this book for it is a waste of time when the benefits are not clear.

Also the writing is bad and uses nonsensical terms that describe nonexistent bodily functions.

Incredible health guide by Anthony that really explains the causes of many unknown deseases and its treatments. He provides many different topics within and many ways of cleansing the body. If you are really into health, you MUST follow and read Anthony's books in order to have a whole new perspective of how humans get sick and heal, which really makes sense.

I find Anthony's writing a bit repetitive throughout but he's definitely got me examining my previous "fear of fruit" and focusing on hydration. I've yet to complete one of the cleanses, although I'm incorporating more fresh fruit, less radical fats and more lemon water.

I struggled with this as statements aren't scientifically supported. Most of the recommendations required 16 ounces of water and lemon, or 16 ounces of celery juice. It isn't for me although I did find some sections interesting.
