Sally and the rest of the captains finally get Bob to take that promotion he’s been avoiding. That leaves him with a question, just what is an Admiral supposed to do? Soon enough, the folks back on Earth cause bigger problems. Sit back and enjoy the ride, with Admiral Bob and the rest of the crew.
I’m a house husband. I keep things together while my wonderful wife makes our living. I’ve worked as a machinist, short order cook, electronics assembly tech, and several other jobs. My hobbies include vehicle maintenance, (I’ve had the transmission out of my truck. Twice) free flight airplanes, electronics, and shooting. I was born and raised in the Ozarks, and now live in Mid-Missouri.
I find I am getting a bit tired of this series again, you could take great chunks out of this book and it would be barely indistinguishable from parts of the previous half-a-dozen books. Also this story was very much Soap Opera rather than Space Opera. One other little thing, the author was getting a bit ‘holier than thou’ with Bob’s attitude to what the squirrels did thousand of years ago, perhaps he should have remembered humans have done much worse, even his own nation was responsible for lying, stealing and the near genocide of his country’s native population only a few hundred years ago.
Bob's your admiral. He's not happy about it, but b=no one else wants the job, and they all seem to want him. Of course, he brings his shepherd along... I still find these books funny and good brain candy.
It seems like Jerry is using this book to tie up any loose ends. This helps with a lot of sub stories that he had going. I don't want to go into details because that would require spoilers. He also drops in a few tidbits of upcoming adventures. I also think that it was a dirty trick dealing with the earth jerks at the end so quick. Jerry used the old Saturday Matinee cliff hanger. Thank you once again for diverting my attention away from the stupid stuff going on. Pandemic Relief.
I have the entire series . The story lines just continue to amaze me with the complex interaction of the characters. My only problem with any of the books are the endings. They come entirely too soon. Thank you Jerry Boyd, your imagination has made a very difficult year easier to take. You have provided us with a way to laugh, escape from our realities for a while and given us such a wonderful galaxy to roam.
This book is filled with hints of this, and hints of that, and we have to wait for the next book to find out what happens. No big cliffhangers, just a sack full of hints and mysteries if you paid attention. Its always a pure pleasure to read his books; and pure hell waiting for the next one lol.
First, let me say that I have read all of the books, in this series, up to- and including - this one. I can only echo a previous reviewer... the series gets tired, and repetitive here and in at least a couple of the preceding books.
Bob has, to this point, had a lot thrown at him. Many of the plot ideas have been ingenious. That said, having experienced so many things, challenges, and individuals across species....Bob is not maturing, changing, adopting new viewpoints. For that matter, neither are the key plot characters.
Additionally, the author seems to cut and paste language and situations... sometimes making the reader sure he has read a particular bit three, or five, or 26 times. Why doesn’t Snitz ever sleep in? Why doesn’t he, sometimes, jump on Bob’s stomach —just for laughs? Why don’t the bots ever short-sheet Bob and Nikki?
The author needs to take a breath....have a think... and worry less about making the next installment of his property taxes with revenues from a new book.
I am done at this point, but will check on goodreads for news of changes in future volumes.

I gave this book five stars because it is closer to the original "Bob and Nikki" style and content of the first books. Jerry invites us into his word of often tedious banter replays that we've read and read ad nauseum and yet it does exist. I've witnessed the culture in action. Consider these displays just reinforcement of relationships in Bob's culture. Winding people up is to many just plain mean, BUT, it exists and is a positive reinforcement to them.
It is Jerry's home (story), and his rules apply. So far they are pleasant because of the slowly growing story of Bob's development. I am just so curious I hang around to see... No Spoiler, sorry about that.
Besides, he doesn't charge all that much per book and I'm all in for economy in pricing. Plus his stuff is plain pleasant, wholesome, occasionally flawed, but pretty well thought out (just like it was written by a human being and not a mill).
So go for it. Buy the set and keep adding to it. Richard Combs
This book was quite a surprise, and not in a good way at all. The first 60-70% was the usual banter and snarky repartee we’ve seen in previous books. It’s amusing and fun, but it’s not developing a plot. That does start, eventually, though there is no denouement. The plot just stops, rather suddenly and with little to no exposition, leaving this reader wanting closure. This is not typical, nor expected, from Mr. Blanton and I hope will prove to be just a singular experience.
I wait for the next book, partly because there was no resolution in this book and I would like to read the end of this plot line. Had this book actually finished, it would easily have rated 4 stars, maybe even 5. But as delivered, I see it as incomplete and have rated it accordingly.
This series has broken some personal records for me. First I'm not a big fan of series. Welp, I just finished book 15 and very much looking forward to book 16. The second record broken was that I hate a book with a lot of different characters in it. Now that's changed because this series has more characters in it than any series I've ever read and the author writes so well that I have no problems remembering all the crazy people and if for some reason I do forget someone the author has put a cheat sheet in the front of the book so you can easily find out who that person is.. This is a very good and interesting series and I hate to say that I Guarantee you will love this series because there are some strange people out there so I'll say if you can color inside the lines you will love this series.
You won’t find a more low-key group of heroes anywhere in the galaxy. You also won’t find a more dialogue-based series in literature, unless you read something transcribed from audio recordings. Not that it’s bad at all - it’s just an interesting style. Hmm. Recorded. You don’t suppose that this is all... nah. Em.. anyway. Yes, great fun. Enjoyable characters, amazing situations, smooth plot (with little danger, though), and a growing super plot that suggests that something is afoot. As ever, definitely looking forward to the next book! Definitely recommended! (14+)
Brain Candy gone bad. This series is lightly interesting, at first. After a bit, the repeated bad Dad Jokes done over and over, the attempts at humor which were slightly funny at first became like scratching on a chalkboard. I found myself scanning through chapters as fast as my Kindle would turn, just to find the occasional storyline plot episode that was actually interesting. I did this through at least the last 10 books in this series, maybe even all of them. They are in the Kindle Unlimited series, otherwise there is no way I would have paid even .99 for one of these. I am so done with this author.
I admit I tend to devour this series of books and did the same with this latest volume. I just enjoy the cast, the characterisations, the universe in general. Best of all is the humour that goes through all the books and continues to make me smile as I read them. This is something of a transitional volume. Ending plot threads from previous volumes, and generating some new and intriguing ones. That said I enjoyed working through it just not quite 5-star material.
I am so glad I stumbled across the Bob and Nikki books. The only problem is that they are so good and so funny that I find myself going immediately from the one I just finished to the next one. I highly recommend this series of you like to laugh, figure out obscure references to movies, TV and music, and enjoy cool space action. Oh, yes, and even some romantic coziness for flavor!
Here's a Swashbuckling tale funny with a mature family twist. I can't read one of the Bob and Nikki tales without picturing Errol Flynn or Gregory Peck's version of Horatio Hornblower. Best thing to say is one fun read! If there is any thing bad to say it's that it takes to long for the next installment.
I have read all 15 books so far. They are an interesting mix of humor and fairly good sci-fi. This was perhaps the darkest so far with less humor. But then considering the state of affairs everywhere, that is not surprising. I wish we had an illustration of the hybrids.
All of the books in this siries are great. The humor in them is just the type I like. It may seem strange, but turning a hillbilly loose on the universe has been an enjoyable ride. Just be prepared to lose some sleep, these books are hard to put down. I'm looking forward to the next one.
This series is one of my favorites. I truly hate having to wait for the next book to come out. It has great characters and an entertaining storyline. It is a nice simple relaxing series. Be warned, Start with the first book and you will find it hard to stop reading until you catch up and have to wait for the next book to be released.
Good series but not near best in the series. Some matchmaking, children, Charlie's planet,.. lots of fussing about chain of command. Abrupt end, story didn't flow. Even our idiot politicians might know better than kidnap mother of man suspected of owning armed flotilla.
Great 👍 book. You will love 💘 it as much as me. They should have captured the general and brought him aboard and give him a talking to or sent him to the airlock for a walk with a suit and drag his scared 😨 but back a few times before dropping him naked in Mexico City.
Fantastic fun series ! Up to #15, & still going strong !
Bob’s Saucer Repair ! This episode less mission focused than previous. The crew rambles thru space, encounters a few new mysteries, visits some old friends, and rescues Bob’s mom from USA Military. Bob also marries a few couples ! Thankfully no farting contests at reception. Hope Mr Boyd continues the series !
If you're just discovering this series I envy you!
The Bob's Saucer Repair series is amazingly fun to read. Over the course of the series you become connected to the characters. I find myself anxiously awaiting the next book. I highly recommend this series, and find myself envious of the reader that gets embark on this reading adventure for the first time!
Great story adventure as always. I recommend that this series be read in the order it was written for maximum benefit. Warning that this series is highly addictive fast reads with spontaneous out bursts of laughter. The story line take place in the present with lots of action. Enjoy!
My only complaint about this book was that it was over too quickly. What a excellent story this was and put a fantastic finish!
I hope Jerry Boyd intends to keep writing more Bob and Nikki stories because as long as he does, I’ll continue reading them! These are wonderful stories!
Love this series Hate that I finish them in a day. Listen to them as as Audible has them released Yea for the next Audible release this month. Growl for waiting for next book and Audible release Waiting for Hard Copy so I can send them to friends with limited or no internet
There have been a LOT more bread crumbs in the book meatloaf the last couple of installments, but other than the repetition of mundane daily routines, the style of writing is easy on the mood and ultimately satisfying. Start with the first book to have any hope of knowing what's going on at this point.
Bob reluctantly takes a new role as admiral of his fleet and has his leadership challenged in a variety of ways. These books are so engaging. Start at Bob's Saucer Repair and join in the fun. I find myself slowing my reading a little bit because sooner or later I am going to catch up and I will miss these reads when that happens. Great stuff once again.
This has always been a fun little series, but the author has been too hard on the main character's mental state. He can't say a sentence without throwing a joke in. Normally I overlook it, but it's getting harder.
This series is so much fun with all of the snark and adventures. Bob, Nikki and friends have all the fun in the galaxy. So much hilarious writing and the characters are great. Thanks to the author and ENJOY!
Like I headlined it another great read. Now if Bob can stay around the next book in this really great series and show those Turkeys what they are getting wrong the way they doing things and get the to do right that would be great.
