After years of searching, Finn has finally found the motherload. Unfortunately, there's no way to get it home. And he's got to meet John Wayne.Stranded and alone in Denver, Colorado, Finn and his partner Penny (a foot and a half long Faerie Dragon) search for friends and allies in this strange new land. But something about this place isn't right. Magic has gone underground, and has anyone seen John Wayne?Lucky for Finn he's a Dwarf, and underground is where he does his best work.Join Finn, Penny, and their new friends on an adventure that spans the globe and holds the fate of an entire planet in its twists and turns. And just maybe a tall Dwarf and a small dragon can find their place in the universe.
He once ate an entire pizza then ran through the streets shouting to anyone that would listen that he was full.
Satisfaction comes easy for those who find satisfaction satisfying.
Charles really doesn't know what to write here... He made up that part about running through the streets and yelling. He has done that, but not after eating an entire pizza; though he has done that as well. Actually, everything so far is true, just not in the right order... That happens a lot.
If you're still reading this, Charles feels like you might be going through a tremendously boring time in your life, and recommends picking up a book. He just so happens to have a few you can choose from. If you don't like his books, then there are a few million on Amazon you can peruse at your own leisure. Though, if you don't like his books, why are you here? Why are any of us here? Is the universe just a simulation that will be reset when we die, like the restarting of the worst/best game in history?
Sorry, Charles may have gone down a Wikipedia rabbit hole last night, starting with 'Brown Bananas' and ending up with 'The Heat Death of the Universe'. it was a long night...
If you have any questions feel free to reach out and ask Charles, he might even show you how to make pancakes.
Fun action packed story! Finn, the third son of the Dwarf King, and his partner Penny, a Faery Dragon, have crashed landed on Earth! Finn wants to track down his hero John Wayne!
An all around fantastic read! Humor, action, fun and Finnegan Dragonbender, all the elements needed for success in this fantasy novel. Well written with lively characters and a great plot. My first Charley Case novel but definitely not my last. Highly recommend!
I should have realised, knowing who at least one of the Authors are, that this book would be amazing but, for some reason, I hadn't expected that.
But it was amazing, and I was glued to the pages every moment that I was reading.
I really love the idea of this Royal Dwarf finding Earth, at last, and going there, to try and find enough loot to fix up his ship, at last.
I also fell in love with Penny, the Fairy Dragon - how much cuter can, you get, than that?
But I do feel that the star of the book really happens to be Mila Winters, who, despite all logic, accepts Finnegan Dragonbender for who he is! G
I'm so very pleased that I enjoyed this book, and, as usual, because it's so late, that it's early, here in the UK, I'm going to grab some sleep, then go on to Book Two of this series: 'Hunt of the Dwarf King'.
I have a feeling that this is going to be a favourite series of mine, but I'll wait to judge that until after I've finished book two and, when I have finished it, I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I do think of it!
Another book about magic and space why read it well I’ll tell you why- everything in this story is from a wonderfully different angle dwarfs are 6 1/2 feet tall, dragons are small enough to fit in their pockets and earth is a long lost thought to have been destroyed spaceship - talk about different; asteroids are space ships too. The third son of the dwarf king (our man fin who is flying/crashing the asteroid spaceship onto earth) cause he found Earth after searching for it for a very long time he met Mila a peabrain that some how could see the runes on his face and recognized they were similar to her missing co-workers note so went to ask him if he could help translate what it said .... can’t wait to see what happens next
I hate trying to write reviews because there are really only pass/fail results for me. Did I make it all the way through? Yes? 5 stars. No? There would be nothing here to read. In all fairness, if an author holds my attention from page one to the end, they’ve done their job. Anything less than 5 stars is petty criticism from someone incapable of even doing the job let alone doing a better one.
So in respect for the author and their work, I am going to start pasting this along with a generic review I found somewhere. “This was a fun book. I am glad that I read it. You should try it too.”
A fun book with the third son of the Dwarf King, Finnegan Dragonbender and his sidekick Penny (a small Faerie Dragon) coming to the spaceship Earth and meeting Dr. Mila Winters, an anthropologist. Once Mila is convinced that Finn and Penny are for real and has her eyes opened to magic and the trolls, elves, gnomes, etc. that exist along with the humans (or Peabrains as the others call them), the three team up and go on a mission to thwart the Dark Star and her minions. The story moved along with adventure, humor, and an attraction between Finn and Mila that will most likely be expanded upon in further books. Now I'm off to read the next book, Hunt of the Dwarf King.
Started ok the first few chapters but turned into a romance novel fast..if someone is in to that then this book is for them..but not for me at all..it really disappointed me I had been looking forward to it but I should have realized that this would happen since one of the writers went from the Brownstone series to romance novels..I do not recommend this book
Been waiting for this book to drop for ages and wow was it worth the wait! Finn, Penny and Mila what a team. Read this in one sitting, I just couldn't put it down. Obviously we are introduced to the characters, who are well written and interesting. The story was intriguing and ended way too soon (no spoilers). Waiting eagerly for the next one, which is a week away.
A tall dwarf, a tiny Dragon and an anthropologist walk into a market...
It sounds like a joke, but it's really the start of an amazing adventure. Finn and Penny are welcome to turn up at my gas station looking for help anytime. I truly enjoyed this new addition to Martha's world. Charley did an amazing job exploring a different part of Terranavis. I cannot wait to see what happens next.
If I murdered your name, I apologize, but we’re glad you are here. An excellent beginning with a huge dwarf, a tiny dragon, and a archaeological woman with latent magic. A classic peabrain as introduced in Martha’s Maggie Parker series getting her awakening to the magical world surrounding her. A delightful story that grabs you and pulls you back in. A fantastic read.
Had no idea what to expect, certainly not what I got here. This was a fun book to read and enjoy. Not too heavy or light. Very decent characters, an almost plot, add in some good writing, voila! We have an enjoyable fun story to read. Thank you
Charley, Martha, and Michael have really nailed the characters and their universe. Truly made the story difficult to put down, a wee bit frustrated that I have to wait two whole days for the release of the second story... Everyone is going to struggle to put the story down, and other than the use of Mopar products (just kidding) no complaints.
A 6'5" tall Dwarf King. That kinda sets the tune for everything! Loved it all😎
This is an awesome book! Everything jells. If you have been reading any of the Peabrain books this just builds on the story. I'm happy to see a strong new character evolve in this story line. Onward to book 2!
Well, that's the start to this wonderfully told story with lots of action and plenty of snarky comments. Can't wait to see where Finnegan Dragonbender (the dwarf), his dragon Penny and their Peabrain friend Mila go in the next story. Great start to a new series.
I really love this series. Finn, Mila and Penny are a blast. They have great adventures together and really kick butt. The storyline is really good and I did not want to put the down until I finished it. I cannot wait to read the next book and hope the series continues for a long time.
Loved this story and all the new characters in the ship that is Earth. An unlikely group of people, magical and non, come together to form lasting friendships and accomplish some good things for many. Loved learning more about the magical that lived below ground. Can't wait to read the sequel.
One way of making old universe interesting is by skewing assumptions, and run from there. Martha and Charley did this by presenting us a tall and handsome dwarf and a small snarky fire breathing dragon. It's another crazy adventure in Terranavis universe, and me the Peabrain enjoy it so much! Onward to the next book!
Finn,Penny, and Mila. Where to begin. A completely new look at a dwarf. Who knew Finn a 6'5" dwarf. Penny a small lizard size dragon. And last ,but not least Mila a human who is finding out the world isn't what she thought it was. Humor, action, swords, magic. Jump in and find a new take on earth, it isn't what you thought.
Never read a story where the main character is a dwarf
I've never read a story before in which the main character is a dwarf. I found that I really enjoyed him and the world the authors created. I also liked that the main female is strong willed.
Great, fun reading. Let your peabrains off their leashes and prepare for the magical ride of a lifetime! This series so far has magic, a bit of sci-fi, action, adventure, some great cheeky humor, and a tall mummy dwarf!! Oh, and a cool as hell Faery Dragon! That alone is the recipe for greatness!! Buckle up, grab your favorite snacks and drinks and turn off your phones! No distractions will be appreciated while you're reading!
Beware the curse words in this book. They come in a moderate quantity and variety. The story is cute and a bit wacky. The setup for how and why Finn and Penny came to Earth drags a bit, but the story gets better after they crash into spaceship Earth and cloak their old beat-up ship. They meet Mila, an anthropologist who eventually buys into their magical view of the world and helps them out.
I really enjoyed this story. I had excitement, fun new characters and some lingering questions pulling me in for book 2. Especially about the bugs. Can't wait for next.
Good characters and interesting plot. Finn and Mila make a good team along with Penny the dragon. Crab landing on earth might be the best thing that could have happened to Finn.
I was a little reluctant to start this because the idea of a dwarf as the main character didn't seem all that appealing. Boy, was I wrong! I loved all of the characters in this book. Give it a try if you like snark and fantasy!
This is a great, fun read and the start of what will undoubtedly be a wonderful series in the Terranavis universe. The main threesome is fun, snarky and full of potential. Looking forward to book 2.
An imaginative story with fun characters, and a unique premise (planets as ships) which I hope they expand on in the following books. Now off to read book 2!
Really really enjoyed the characters and interesting plot lines in this story. So many different people groups and magical abilities! Can’t wait to read what is next!
