“Do you want her to get your Lucky Charms?”

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💙💚🖤💜❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📙
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎🌍
Character development: 😚😌😉😎🥰

The heroine: Cordelia - she works for the International League of Interspecies Cooperation and has come to Mystic Bayou on a secret assignment to find out more about the rift with her psychic power of psychometry (touch). Her gift often gave her nightmares and she could get flashes from just being in an enclosed space with others.

The Hero: Brendan - a tall, handsome, lean and unnaturally pale Irish male banshee. He also works for the League and is in Mystic Falls for the same reason as Cordelia. Brendan is technically dead so is the perfect person to work near the rift and is able to handle the artifact they are supposed to study.

The Story: Cordelia met Brendan on their way into Mystic Falls. She is so curious about him that she touches him with her bare hand which she rarely does, due to the images, feelings and history she gets whenever she touches a person. Though when she touches Brendon, she gets nothing at all.

Banshee’s are described as a female spirit whose appearance or wailing warns a family that someone will soon die. So the fact that Brenden is a Banshee is very odd indeed. I have been loving the eclectic characters of Mystic Bayou. They have an unnatural love of Pie and are a wide range of supernatural beings and people with crazy powers. It is like Mayberry for paranormal people. Mystic Bayou on Halloween would definitely be something to see.

The narrators were Amanda Ronconi and Jonathon Davis like the rest of the series. Amanda really does have a ton of different voices and accents in her repertoire and she really does voice acting more than just reading and narrating. Jonathon Davis as well. I have enjoyed listening to this series. This one had a very interesting storylines with the mystery of the rift and the artifact, and these two characters with their odd gifts. Cordelia getting sometime terrible images and feelings from touching objects or people and Brenden seeing the deaths of people around him if they are soon to die. This was my favorite of the series so far.

This was the last book in the series and once again very entertaining and easy to read. All the characters were really great, with different distinct personalities. As Iv’e mentioned before the same characters are consistent throughout the series, adding a couple new ones with each book. Every book has a happily ever after and a new couple finds love in each book. Definitely interesting and I found them enjoyable.

You've got to feel sorry for those Banshees...

I honestly thought I was going to have to stop my walk to google what a Banshee is. Luckily, I didn't have to wait long to find out and to be honest, I was quite surprised. You know how sometimes you think...wouldn't it be cool to have a mystic ability? (Or is that just me?) Well, I have no desire to be a Banshee. Saying that, I actually really liked Brendan, the hero, in Always Be My Banshee. For starters, he's Irish, tall, a little moody, and dedicated to his family. Secondly, his ability is not one that makes him OTT cocky or egotistical, if anything, he's more reserved because of it. Thirdly, Brendan's a bit of a loner and doesn't have a lot of experience with women. Together, these things make Brendan a very appealing hero and a perfect addition to Mystic Bayou.

I really liked Cordelia and her character was great to get to know. I loved that Mystic Bayou ended up being the perfect place for her to live in and helped her deal with the bad side of her abilities. It was also great that she found someone to finally give her guidance and tips with how to deal with the negative thoughts and feelings she deals with daily. I can't imagine having to cope with being bombarded with memories, good and bad, from touching people and objects. Constantly having to shield yourself from touch would be sad. When Cordelia meets Brendan, it was obvious that they were exactly what each other needed.

I love the town of Mystic Bayou, but my absolute favourite is Zed, the mayor. I think I love him even more because of the way Jonathan Davis, the narrator, portrays him. His accent and characterisation is absolutely perfect for Zed, and brings a smile to my face every time the mayor enters a scene. Amanda Ronconi is no slouch as a narrator, and definitely enhances the listening experience.

I've really come to love this series and I think Always Be My Banshee is now one of my favourites. The ending had me nervous that we were coming to an end, but luckily, Goodreads is saying that there is at least one more.

If you are a fan of audiobooks, and like para-fantasy, I highly recommend the Mystic Bayou series for a good laugh.

Always Be My Banshee is book four in the Mystic Bayou series by Molly Harper and duel narrated by Amanda Ronconi & Jonathan Davis.

I always enjoy return to the Mystic Bayou. It’s such a unique place with such a verity of supernatural characters to enjoy.

Cordelia has a special talent which will finally get use closer than ever before to the rift. Thou this talent does put a strain on her, yet we do get to learn new things about the rift.

Brendan is hired to be her backup or bodyguard. He’s a rare male banshee, cursed with seeing the deaths of those around him.

Cordelia and Brendan right from the start have this strong mutual attraction. The author this time around focuses more on the budding relationship between Brendan and Cordella as well as the developing friendships. I enjoyed the romance and I liked seeing Cordelia open up and develop bonds.

We do get a lot of progress on the overall story arc, we see the trademark humor that Ms. Harper is known for, and we get a mystery plus adventure thrown in.

Narration: As with the previous books we have a duel narration. Overall the both do a good job. This time around our male lead comes from outside the country, so we get a solid Irish brogue. I have come to enjoy the audiobooks and the duel narration.

I’m not sure what is in store for the series. Always Be My Banshee feels like it could be the end and if that’s the case I’m ok with it. Everything wraps up nicely and all the characters get a happy ending, but if we do return I’m happy to come back to Mystic Bayou.

Always Be My Banshee is the fourth installment in the Mystic Bayou series and I absolutely adored this book in many ways and even though it wasn't a perfect book or my favorite in the series, it definitely was a solid read and I had such a lively time listening to this one. I do recommend listening to these books on audio if you have access to Audible. These are audible originals but later do get published into other formats. I have had a blast with this series so far and the way that these characters that are so full of life and just become so endearing are so worth the listen. I have found that there is a lighter charming feel to these books, so I would say that they are PNR Rom Com and I adore the covers in these too, because the backdrops are just gorgeous with the setting that just relays such a mysterious vibe. Now in this book Always Be My Banshee is where we have two agents of the agency that are coming to Mystic Bayou to work together. The hero is a banshee (a very rare one who can see deaths of others) and then we have the hero who is a psychic type of witch. So they make an intriguing pair. There is a level of mystery that is displayed throughout the story, and we get a strong focus on the other characters that we have seen in previous books and man all the laughs I was bursting out with this book was delicious. I absolutely had so much fun with this pair. But I will say what I struggled with the most was the romance. I just wasn't feeling their chemistry at all, and normally I have so much fun with it. And while I loved the other factors of the story, and it still made for a good read, is that I think that the romance really suffered. But having said that, everything else in the story was solid and I loved it. But I need my romance and it just fell a bit flat in this one for me. However, I am eager to continue on with the series here and see what Molly Harper brings to the table.

Cordelia and Brendan, League employees from different areas, arrive in Mystic Bayou on Halloween. Cordelia is a psychic who sees object’s and personal histories upon touch. Brendan is a rare male banshee, cursed with seeing the eminent deaths of those around him. They are there to investigate the mysterious artifact pulled from the rift in the previous book. The hope is they can find out who sent it and how it affects the dangerous space/time rift.

Right from the start, the pair experiences a strong mutual attraction. Cordelia loves that she doesn’t relive Brendan’s history when she touches him - something she hasn’t ever had with another human. Cordelia had an awful childhood; raised and used by her greedy mother. Because of her mom and the fact that she can’t really touch anyone, Cordelia has been a loner for much of her adult life. I liked seeing her open up and develop real bonds with the residents of Mystic Bayou.

The pair don’t do a lot of working, as there are significant healthy risks everytime Cordelia tries to examine the artifact. This puts the focus more on their budding relationship and developing friendships with the denizens. I liked the personal side of the tale, making it meaningful. Ms. Harper’s trademark zaniness and humor is present and accounted for. As the story unfolds, the focus shifts more on the artifact and rift, and there is a lot of progress made on the overall story arc.

Narration: As with previous books in the series, the story is shared in a dual narrative, with Amanda Ronconi (AR) reading the parts told from Cordelia’s POV and Jonathan Davis (JD) the parts shared from Brendan’s POV. Overall, both do a good job, and at this point, I find that I enjoy both equally. This time around, the male lead comes from outside the country, and JD has a solid Irish brogue which I found extremely sexy. JD continues to expand his range for his male voices, giving each a unique and identifiable sound. AR’s voice for Cordelia is slightly different than the other female characters, but the range of difference isn’t tremendous. While I still feel the two narrators have narrative styles and voices that are a bit on the opposite ends of the spectrum, so when they perform the voices of the same characters, they sound completely different, it still works.

While I have no knowledge on the future of the series, Always Be My Banshee feels like it could be the end. Everything is tied up and all the characters happy by the end, and I am completely satisfied with how it all went down. However, I would love more stories in this fun and unique world.

My Ratings:
Story: B+
Narration: B+

This series is fun, there are so many different kind of paranormal characters and cute romances between them. There are dragons, phoenixes, shifters, and a lot of other fantastical creatures. This book centers around a male banshee and a human psychic. I've never seen a male banshee in a story and thought it was a fun twist.

The story goes by pretty quickly and I would have liked to see more romance develop between Cordelia and Brendan. They have some cute interactions, the story was just too short to show much more. I did enjoy the scenes with the women, they have good friendships and the joking is pretty funny.

The female narrator seemed to read Brendan's parts with a thicker Irish accent but the male made it more subtle. I wish they'd been on the same page because I was sort of confused at first and thought they were different people.

I did find something missing from this one, action? I felt it mostly went on and on, and everyone who has been in previous books where there and, well hello the plot?

Or maybe it was the chemistry between them that I did not buy? Also Brendan being a banshee, not the best paranormal being considering. Poor guy.

As for Cordelia, if she touches someone she will see what they have done, and some people do bad things. Same with things, if she touches an object it is the same.

And together they will figure out what the f i going on...

But yes the drama was lacking for me, first at the end it got going.

I did like the narrators. Ronconi is good and I liked the guy doing Brendan's chapters too. But then I can never say no to an Irish accent.

Even though I read the previous book I feel that buy now you should have read them all, there are way too many people stopping by.

This was a wonderful audio presentation! Our friends at Mystic Bayou have pulled out an artifact they hope will have all the answers they are looking for. (remember when Captain Nelson found a bottle on an island when his shuttle crashed? I Dream of Jeannie?)
So they call upon an touch psychic to find out more about the artifact. A very down to earth character for someone who reads the history of everything she touches. Then we have our hero. A banshee. I always thought banshee's were female. Remember? They are the supernatural folks who scream when they are near someone who is about to die? So that's a sucky superpower. Give me teleportation. Please? and Thank you?
This is an excellent and funny story that has an interesting twist when they discover more about the artifact. I won't give it away, but you will love it! Especially if you like audio books.

This title was first released as an Audible Original, which was ok with me since I love this series in audio. I am normally not a fan of dual narrators, but it really works in this series. I've grown to really enjoy Jonathan Davis' voice.

So we're back in Mystic Bayou where anything is possible. With Cordelia's special talents, we can get closer than ever before to the rift. It does put a strain on her, but we discover new things about the rift.

Brendan is hired basically to be Cordelia's backup or bodyguard. His talents run kind of on the scary side and we spend pretty much the whole book just waiting for his powers to activate. I know I was totally scared for Cordelia and that Brendan was going to see things to really mess things up.

As with previous installments in this series, as well as the other series I've listened to by Molly Harper, I get to have a mixture of emotions I enjoy. There is always humor, we get romance, and we get a mystery or adventure thrown in. Molly Harper combines these so well that I found myself totally engrossed in the story. I am also excited to have the continuation of our previous couple's stories. Jillian's definitely becoming extremely interesting!

I definitely recommend this series, and if you do not have an audible membership, they are eventually published in ebook. I really recommend getting it in audio. It is a great experience!

This was a very enjoyable story. I liked both Cordelia and Brendan and thought they made a good couple once they got together. They both have reasons for working for the League and have special abilities that makes dating hard. When they meet, there's an instant attraction between them and it is particularly helpful that they can touch without sparking side affects of a magical nature.

Unfortunately, Cordelia and Brendan are in town for a reason and there are people working against them and they cause misunderstandings that cause problems. Cordelia and Brendan are able to get around some issues but when you don't know who's working against you, it's hard to protect yourself. There's the expected drama and danger but in the end, the bad guy is revealed and things are set right and Cordelia and Brendan are together and starting something that will turn into a HEA.

This was a very enjoyable story. I liked Cordelia and thought she was a good heroine overall. I liked Brendan and wish we had gotten a bit more of him in the story. Overall, I thought this story was very good with likable characters. I found it engaging and would recommend it. :)

* note - I listened to the audio version of this story and both narrators did really good jobs.

3.75 stars rounded up. Narration 5 stars. This listen was more of a novella than book I think. It was a fun read but not as fun as most of the others in this series. I just kept expecting more from it and when it finally happened it was interesting and tied a lot of ends up. But I just wanted a bit more. Still, it’s Molly Harper and you can’t go wrong with any of her work. So I really did enjoy the listen. There’s a possibility that this was the end to the series simply because of how it ended. I hope it’s not. I have really enjoyed my time in this small supernatural town. Narration: You definitely can’t go wrong with Amanda Ronconi narrating. Jonathan Davis did a good job as narrator as well. Recommended!

Always Be My Banshee
4 Stars

In the aftermath of discovering the ancient artifact in the rift, touch psychic Cordelia Canton joins forces with Brendan O'Connor, a rare male banshee, to uncover the secrets of the artifact and the reasons for its dangerous effects on the local population.

Cordelia and Brendan's romance is really sweet. As a touch psychic and a banshee who can see deaths of others, Cordelia and Brendan's abilities have resulted in a solitary and lonely existence for them both. This makes the fact that they have found each other even more delightful.

The town of Mystic Bayou and its quirky residents are the true highlights of this series. The couples from the previous books all join in the fun as the mystery surrounding the rift and the artifact is resolved. As with the previous books, there is a malevolent force working for the mysterious group within the league, and the identity of the culprit is actually quite a surprise.

Although the ongoing arc comes to a close, there is a new twist at the end and it will be interesting to see where Harper takes her characters next.

A powerful psychic and a banshee are teamed up to work with the relic creating the universe rift in Mystic Bayou, but someone is out to destroy them all and blow the rift completely open. The team must work quickly or be demolished forever. An exciting addition to the Mystic Bayou series with more romance, paranormal activity as well as creatures and action packed drama in this entertaining plot. This audio series has been an absolute blast to listen to, but this one had me laughing out loud in multiple places. I highly recommend this book in the series, but I would listen or read them all in order as the back story to get here is enjoyment that you don't want to miss out on!

Four book already (and 1 novella or novelette, whatev), and I can feel that the story aspect such as setting, background, etc can be formulaic. Although, I don't mind the formulaic part, since I considered Mystic Bayou series as comfort read. We have characters with family issues, small town community, friendship that may come as forced at first but not at all. I'm glad that the friendship part not just from the heroine part, but the hero as well. Add it with humor, especially from Zed. I swear, it's Zed that make this series interesting. Not that I think both h/H, Cordelia and Brendan (whom name apparently a combination from Brendan Fraser and Richard O'Connell. You know, THE MUMMY. My favorite movie, though) are boring, but seriously, Zed is the reason why I found this series charming in its own way.

So, Cordelia is a psychic with a terrible power because she will get memories and feeling from anything she touch. Must be very miserable and add it with control freak mother, not exactly a happy childhood. Again. In the other side, Brendan is a banshee. Now, when you ask "but, I think banshees are usually women?", mind you that Brenda is a rare case. Sadly, Brendan abilities as a banshee just come short to when he can predict people's dead but...yeah just that. Their love can be categorized into lust, er, love at the first sight, especially from Brendan side, and its seems that Cordelia can't feel what Brendan think when she touch him. Reason for that is spoilery, so you must read the book first. The problem is continuous from book 3, Sonja and Will's book, since the artifact on the rift is acting again. There's interruption from the League's office that apparently come from the high place, Cordelia's lost love that appear again and potentially create DRAMA, Jillian's pregnancy, then something sinister try to target the artifact. But don't fret, there's always pie that will soothe the h/H soul when there's trouble brewing. Because apparently, everyday is a pie day in Mystic Bayou. But, if you have a brownie, in this case Siobhan that can give you a pie that suitable for what you need (not what you want), who will said no?

The romance is kinda feel rushed, and maybe there's lack of development since the drama part come from misunderstanding and potential of love triangle (don't fret, there's none). But, the artifact plot is written nicely. The problem kinda wrapped up, although seems like there's new trouble brewing in the horizon. Part of why I like the Mystic Bayou is the familiarity that I feel when reading about old characters. In this case, Jillian, her dragon beau Bael (which real name is...let's say I prefer his dragon name), ofc Zed (my favorite Mayor that always make me cackling), his lady love Danica that obsessed with llama, and the almighty Sonja with her selkies boyfriend Will. Also another Mystic Bayou lovely citizens that I never get tired to read their daily life. I think that Always be My Banshee can't be read as stand alone and so you must start how it's all began in How To Date With Your Dragon.

I just wish this series don't come in audio book version first. Because I don't do audiobook (my English listening skill is rusty) and the ebook version come 6-7 months later after the audio book released. Too much time for waiting.

Always Be My Banshee
Mystic Bayou, Book 4

I Picked Up This Book Because: Continue the Series

The Characters:

Cordelia Canton:
Brenden O'Connor:
Dani, Zed, Bael, Jillian, Will, Sonja,

The Story:

This is the first book we have that involves two outsiders and I loved it just as much as it’s predecessors. There were some heart stopping moments and I was really surprised by the villain. I’m not sure if there will be any more additions to this series after the way this wrapped up but I would love to continue to visit.

The Random Thoughts:

Bear adoption is gross but also very cute.

This book has probably the most interesting couple of the whole series when it comes to their magic: Brendan, a male banshee (which in itself is quite rare to see, since generally banshees are females) and Cordelia, a psychometry gifted lady.
Their burden that comes from their own magic and the way it affected their personalities made the development of their relationship quite interesting and I quite enjoyed it.
Plot wise it seems like this is going to be the last book when it comes to this story arc, since all the major plot threads were resolved.
Another nice, funny and quirky addition to this series.

Overall it was a nice series, perfect for switching your brain off and just enjoy the funny characters and magical small town vibes.

I always enjoy Molly Harper and always in audio with Amanda Ronconi's narration. But I've fallen behind on her books of late because they tend to be Audible exclusives and I don't maintain an Audible subscription anymore. But I did a 30 day trial that got me some time with the Audible Plus, so I'm determined to use this time to catch up on the Mystic Bayou series.

Thankfully, despite the time away from the series, I was able to pick it up without missing a beat. As always with these books, the characters were great. Cordelia's ability has severely impacted her life and she's very alone in the world. Brendan has been similarly marked by his ability, despite the huge differences. And it makes them uniquely suited for each other. And they seem to have strong chemistry from the start, which makes watching them connect a fun ride.

Of course, they're in Mystic Bayou to do a job -- a dangerous one that their abilities make them uniquely suited for. The dangers are so strong, though, and they don't actually spend that much time working. Which worked well enough, because it gave Cordelia and Brendan more time to grow and connect. We did get some solid series progression in regards to the rift. In fact, if I had been reading this when it first came out, I could have believed this was the last book in the series. Since I know it's not though, I'm curious to see where things go from here.

As I mentioned, I always enjoy Amanda Ronconi's narration - I think she's really great at delivering Molly Harper's particular style of humor and she voices the characters personalities so well. I had forgotten that this series has dual narration with Jonathan Davis voicing Brendan's POV. He's an equally strong narrator, as is well demonstrated by the vocal variety he displays in this book -- particularly with Brendan, an Irish character. While they are both strong narrators, they are very different, which isn't usually my choice for dual narration. Somehow it works despite their voices for the same characters being very different.

Looking forward to reading more -- hopefully finishing the series during this 30 day trial I have!
