Dr. Harper Therapy #3

I’m A Therapist, and My Patient is a Vegan Terrorist

Rate this book

The Explosive Conclusion to the Dr. Harper Therapy series

I'm a therapist, and I've worked with the wildest internet celebrities… A vigilante who treated humans as factory farm animals. A germaphobe who warned of the next major plague. My own best friend. A rapist who got cancelled online — and in real life. A psychic medium with a disturbing prediction.

And the last patient I ever worked with: The one who asked me to take them off life support.

It all started with a big social media festival on a little island. We were promised endless days of sunshine, beach bonfires under the stars, and a chance to party with the world's most renowned influencers.

Instead, we were lucky if we made it out in one piece.

This book (and series) reads like fanfiction written by a 15 year old. If the author really is 15 then like kudos to them for publishing some books, but these are so bad. I read all three in 24 hours so clearly some part of me was interested enough for whatever reason, but I only finished the third book so I could write this review. The "plot" was all over the place and everything was somehow simultaneously chaotic and boring.

Keeping it weird, loved it!

This was such a quick, odd, fun read! So sad to know the trilogy is over though! 😭 this trilogy is unlike anything I typically read, but I loved every second of it, devoured it in 2 days. Pick this trilogy up! Its amazing!

Whilst this one is not the best in the series (I feel like that belongs to the second book) it’s still really good and a good conclusion to the story. There are also more of the shocks that are expected in here however, it’s got the point that there have been so many that I know that they are all going to be a fake out. This kind of ruined the twist when they happened, if one of the twists ended up being true then I feel like I would believe it more and fall easier into the trap. However, it was still good and the constant fake outs didn’t ruin the book too much.

Great closer.

This one didn’t grab me white like the first two but it was still a fun read! While I am sad to see the end of Dr. Harper’s stories, I know he’s gotta be cooking up something else for me to sink my teeth into!

I have never experienced a book that made me put it down and walk away shaking my head after every chapter. This was banana sandwiches. Full throttle crazy. A caricature. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

This was

• disturbing (although this whole series is)
• oddly written
• NOT THE FASCINATING CONCLUSION I WAS PROMISED
• inconsistent
• and when I wasn’t disturbed, I was BORED.

It’s safe to say my binge of this series is over...and probably should have stopped with book two.

Thanks for reading!

So, despite going down a point in comparison to the last two books, this finale to the “I’m a Therapist” Dr. Harper trilogy is still an incredibly worthwhile read. The only reason it didn’t quite sit as highly as the first two, for me, is because of just how wild the ending gets. The believability factor came down, in a way, and I struggled with the end of this book and how it was handled. To avoid spoilers, I can’t explain further. I will say, however, that I wish this book didn’t end with a trilogy. I fell in love with the characters, and the idea of their story ending broke my heart.

This book, once again, handled some pretty serious issues, but they were handled well. Moreso, Dr. Harper- the author, not the character- continued to write absolutely incredible twists, turns, and cliffhangers that only made me love the book more. There were plenty of references that made me smile, and the character development paid off greatly.

My favorite part of this book was the romance subplot, which has been building up since the first- and finally, at long last, has a payoff. There’s so many special things about this trilogy, but the LGBTQ representation is among my favorite. There’s nothing unusual about it, no special attention paid to it, just two men going on dates- loving, well planned dates. So many times, LGBTQ is used as a plot device to show angst and strife in a character’s life. While Dr. Harper, the character, does have a background where he deals with his sexuality and his early homophobia, it isn’t something that carries the entire novel. It’s an acknowledgement, and then in his adult life, it’s an acceptance, and I love it for that.

By the end of the novel… well, there’s a found family dynamic that warmed my heart, and the last page in particular? Best way to end a novel. I truly loved this series, and have already bought another novel by Dr. Harper- The Disturbing Incidents at Lonesome Woods Boarding School. I think Dr. Harper has become a must read author for me, an auto buy. I’m still shocked that more people haven’t read this trilogy- they have my full recommendation.

Alright, although it wasn't my favourite of the 3 books, I still loved every minute of it! Twists and turns as always. I love Noah and honestly, who doesn't?

I really hope Dr. Harper comes out with more books I love every minute of them! Keep it up!

It's one of those books where you really can not look away, you just need to find out what happens next and you're sitting there with all your theories D:

This was annoying to say the least. The first two was okay and loved it, this one is just plain unbearable.

I think it is worth repeating that Dr. Harper is the most inappropriate, boundary crossing therapist ever and I absolutely loved him 🤣

When I say he gets way too involved with his patients, it’s a whole other level.

I don’t know how a series that is disturbing for many reasons can also feel so darn wholesome at the same time.

The whole series is pretty quirky and felt very silly at times and yet the writing and the way the stories are being told made it a fun read for me. There were plenty of wtf and laugh out loud moments.

I'm giving this a 3/5 because I was lost most of the time. I didn't get the same rush I had reading the first two books, but it made me very happy to know that everyone ended up getting his happy ending. The cases were strange this time because social media was overly dramatized in a satirical way (in the book). Would I read it again? Maybe, but I need to be up for it.

This series has me in a chokehold.
Read this along with my gal pal Amelia.

You never know what to expect in these books. But you can always expect twists and turns. The social media influencers had me like this- 😲. Everything tied together perfectly and the execution on this book was so good. Kierra has this secret throughout this book that she does not want Elliot to know. So Noah holds it as a secret from Elliot basically throughout the whole book.

Finding out what her secret was at the end of this book made me want her to say it sooner. It would have created so much less tension between her and Elliot. The last few pages of this one will have you so upset with the book and what is happening. But as you proceed a page you will begin smiling at what the reality is.

I did not want this series to end and I am so glad there is a prequel. Amelia and I of course had to read it right away. As I said before, if you like messed up and or twisty reads-read this series. It truly is bloody brilliant and they're all quick reads.

Just as ludicrous as the first two books, and I ate it up. I can’t put my finger on why I love these totally out there books, but I do, and I can’t wait to read the prequels!

09/21/21: Still 4 stars. Rereading these has made me have a lot more questions than I did before. The prologue for these has just left me baffled. Is it all just made up stories Dr. Harper wrote, or is there just something really wrong with him? Kinda glad there will be another book coming out and this wasn’t the conclusion. I’m curious to see where it’s going from here.
Side note: Forgot how adorable Noah is, and how cute Noah and Elliot’s dates were. ❤️

03/30/20: What a wonderful conclusion to these files. The Influencer Files is the 3rd book in this little trilogy.
Some of the stories can seem a little far fetched and out there, but somehow they are told in a way that keeps you on the edge of your seat. There is always some twist and turn that has you diving in for more.

Just like the first 2 books, this one has all of the stories tying together for a bigger reason. I can honestly say I felt the big reveal for this book wasn’t as good as the first 2 were. In the patient files and prisoner files I was blown away with what was going on behind the scenes but I wasn’t with this book.
Despite that, the little twist at the end and how the story ended made up for it and I walked away happy.

Dr. Harper is a very unconventional therapist and his adventures are crazy but he’s an awesome man to follow. He will most certainly leave you cracking up and also asking “what the f*** are you doing?”

Read all three books and enjoy.

that final little twist had me fooled for a hot minute. i sat in disbelief that i committed to this trilogy just for elliot and noah to not have a happy ending. but god that was such a great twist. so glad they DID get a happy ending. i’m so happy with the reveal about kierra too.

overall i highly enjoyed the series, i haven’t read in years because i get too distracted, (thanks adhd!) but the pacing in these books were excellent, high paced, loads of twists and turns and red hearings. just great all round.

also super appreciative of an mlm relationship sprinkled throughout them. that seemed genuine and not just thrown in to appease the gays. i was rooting for them the entire time and i’m just so happy it paid off! i would pay good money for a full book from noah’s pov because i love him.

// i know nothing about anything btw, if anyone ever reads this, just know that. don’t take anything i say too seriously because i don’t know the first thing about what makes a book “a great book” i just write my incoherent thoughts / word vomit to look back on :)

I was so excited but sad to wrap up the series with this book but it just seemed like Dr Harper had run out of ideas and picked out the most far-fetched ones! I was excited for a ‘Fyre Festival’ type disaster and we all know what social media influencers can be like so I was expecting some epic patient files! However it just fell flat for me, the characters and story line seemed a bit all over the place. I wish that the story of James was elaborated on and I would of liked to have seen that relationship built on, especially with Noah and Elliott. At first I really liked Elliott’s no nonsense attitude but by the middle of this book I was so over it, everything I initially liked just seemed petulant and boring!

Overall I enjoyed this series, it was a different read and I really hope Dr Harper is working on more books! I would recommend, book 1 was definitely my fav!

Me? Crying because of the ending? No ma'am, nope. *sniffles*
I can NOT even begin to describe the emotional turmoil I felt during reading this, a moment I would be angry at a character screaming at the book the next I would be crying because 'Hey, that's not fair! and then I would be laughing because as much as I hate her, Kierra is kinda funny?

All in all, I really liked this series and the characters, even the very unlikeable ones, are interesting. I'll probably be reading it again, especially considering it only solidified my love for morally grey characters.

Honestly this series just went downhill from the first book. It felt like I was in a crazy fever dream, and not in a good way. The writing was just not good, it was childish and I just did not like any of the characters and their points of view. Everything was so far fetched, and I know its fiction and there are no limits, but like come on, give me a break. The plot was so chaotic and all over the place that I could not keep up. I mean I must have been somewhat interested to read the series, the writing was just not it for me. Whilst yes it was easy and quick to read, it was just not good at all. I literally have nothing else to say.

Weird and wonderful

What have I just read. Three books in less than three days. Totally crazy stories, crazy characters just kept me hooked. I can't say that I even understood the endings but the writing was so clever I was able to forgive this. I have never read anything like this before and I hope Dr Harper continues to write. Very crazy but very enjoyable

I loved this series so much I binged one after the other. Such quick reads. This was my least fav of the series but I still loved it. Thought it wrapped up really good. I'm sad it's over, would love to see more!
