I can see and hear the dead. I can also talk to animals. As a natural-born witch and medium, I can do a lot of odd things. In most people's eyes, that makes me a loon. I like to think of it as being unique and eccentric. Plus, now that destiny has brought me back to the town I was born in, I'm not all that different from the supernatural residents of Grimm Cove.
When I find myself being hunted by a dark entity, I turn to the only person who can really help. Too bad he dislikes people in general, would rather keep to himself, and is positive my elevator doesn't stop all floors. And he's not a fan of squirrels which does put a kink in things considering my familiar is one.

I knew I wasn't going to be wild about this book. Marcy is my least favorite character. But I like Poppy and Dana and the foundation for the series is one of the most interesting I've come across. I'd like to see what the future holds for Grim Cove.
After reading Bk 3 I'm not sure that's gonna happen. In the first two books Marcy came off as a nothing between the ears but air goofball. Now I know the air in there is pretty damn thin. It may even be helium.
I'm all for sexy fluff. The way things have been recently I welcome a few hours of silly fun. This was; "what the hell were you thinking?" "oh my God. How are you not dead yet?" and "you have got to be freaking kidding me!" wrapped up in great characters, fun dialogue and a very interesting landscape. When I finished I wanted to bang my head on the wall. Because I enjoyed the story and wanted to kill Marcy every step of the way.
I don't know weather I should congratulate Mandy Roth for making me devour a book that made me want to chew iron and spit nails. Or send her a glitter bomb for making me endure Marcy.
Spellcasting with a Chance of Spirits by Mandy M. Roth is Marcy's story and it was another winner in this series.
Marcy Dotter moved to Grimm Cove with her friends, Poppy and Dana, a few months ago. Together they have helped remove a succu-witch and a decades old vampire who were creating local mayhem and murder. Marcy is truly a free spirit. She has traveled the globe, has few inhibitions and loves to hug others. Laughter, passion, action/battle of good versus evil and an HEA made this an enjoyable read that left me wanting more in this series.
The third in the Grimm Cove Paranormal Women 's Fiction series, the beginning recaps on events prior to the series by adding events from other points of view, such as vampire and Hunter of evil, Bram Van Helsing. His adult daughter Dana has returned to the Cove along with witch Poppy and hippie nature whisperer Marcy. She's naive, dippy, loves hugs but also has a type of magic allowing her to talk to nature and animals. Her familiar is a nutty squirrel Burgess, who likes to annoy werewolves and she wears a crochet.bikini gifted to get by a male friend. Amidst trying to find out more about her family and getting Dana to spend time with her Dad Bram, a mystery surrounding them needs investigation and Bram appears to be lusting and maybe more, over Marcy. This is funny, filled with good humour and romance, erotic scenes, blood and violence. Austin's battle with Burgess is brilliant and the book is definitely worth reading. It can also be read as a stand-alone.
This was my fav of the three girls. I absolutely adore her mentality, her quirkiness. I wish the series was about her and we had more books with the focus on Marcy. The thing i dont like is how fast the romances are. All of them are overnight because "magic" which means you completely miss out on the courtship part of the romance that is 80 percent of the fun. No getting to know eachothers, no build up of chemistry. Just they instantly love and want eachother. I did love her dynamic with Bram and just wish they'd had 3 books for themselves instead of the rush.
Seeing with the heart Oh My Goddess!! This book is everything I was hoping it would be and so much more. The author took the free spirit that is Marcy and gave her a loving heart that no amount of nay-saying can dim. I love that the connection between the friends keeps getting stronger and how so many parts of this story brought us full circle with the past. Bram is a strong, gorgeous vampire and his heart is way bigger then his past wrong deeds. The author gave him his perfect match and I loved watching how they came together. Between the relationships and the action and danger she is famous for, the author managed to keep me glued to my e-reader until the very end of the book. This book was such an amazing read and I am already looking forward to reading it again. I don't know who will be the lucky resident of Grimm Cove to find their true love next, but I can't wait to find out when the next book in the series comes out.
I enjoyed learning more about Marcy's and Bram's history, but I felt the pacing was a bit off for this novel. Everything was super slow until 70% into the book, then bam, they had their connection, the fight against evil, and then suddenly mated and married.
I also don't think we learned enough about Marcy's ex-husband before The villains definitely didn't get as much of a backstory as the protagonists in this novel.
Still an entertaining cozy magical paranormal romance, but not my favorite in the series.
Let me start by saying I really enjoyed the first two books in the series. I waited with anticipation for Marcy’s story as she seemed very interesting in the first books. However, I was disappointed in Marcy’s story. She came across as a ditz with a very large chest. Marcy’s character deserved more than she received.
All I can say is Oh My Goddess! This book is amazing. I couldn't put this book down. Its funny, crazy and lovable, with murders and evil thrown in. Grimm Cove series is a blast, thank you Mandy M Roth
Marcy is my favorite character in this series. Three best friends move to Grim Cove after one of them is divorced and inherits her parents house. The first 2 books in the series were about Dana and Poppy. This is Marcy's book. Marcy is like a 60's free love hippy. She is happy, peaceful, and very much into nature. So much so she actually speaks to plants and animals, and sees and speaks to the dead. But what is truly unique about her is her almost innocence and lack of guile. She takes everything said to her literally, not recognizing sarcasm. She loves to hug and is open and loving. But something evil is haunting Marcy. And Marcy is having dreams that are both erotic and dark. Evil. Something bad is about to happen. This was a great story. Could not put it down!
Spellcasting with a Chance of Spirits is a great addition to the Grimm Cove series by Mandy M. Roth . This is book # 3 and this is Bram and Mercy's story. This is full of paranormal hijinks, intrigue, romance and cast of great main and secondary characters. Really enjoyed the pace of the story and never slows down. Enjoyed visiting my favorite supernatural characters and meeting new characters that make me eager for more stories in this series. In all, great paranormal romance read!
A total delight! After reading the first two books in this series, I had a feeling I was going to love this one. Boy, was I right! I had a feeling that the carefree whimsy of Marcy would be sure to keep me on the edge of my seat, wondering what she could get into next. Spellcasting with a Chance of Spirits had me giggling, guffawing, and outright laughing out loud at Marcy's antics. Like the alpha vamp said, "She's perfect." What a delightful read. Can't wait for the next in the series.
I’ve really enjoyed this series so far & knew that Bram would be a tough one especially as he was paired with Marcy. Marcy is such a free spirit against the serious nature of Bran it was always going to be amusing getting them together. Bram turned out to be a great hugger (who knew!) that could deal with Marcy but how would he cope with that pesky squirrel! Enjoyable read with some real twists & turns around Marcy’s family & some nice touches with Dana after finding out Bram was her father.
I admit: of the three main ladies of the series, Marcy was not my favourite. But I did take a liking to Bram... and to Burgess! I swear, that squirrel was almost the death of me, as were Elis and Austin, who I hope will get their own stories in the future.
As the previous book, this one was worth the wait, and thoroughly enjoyable.
This is book 3 in the series, and what a story. Fun to read, with more of the bigger story playing out. Marcy is a complex character who comes across as scatter-brained. This book gives the reader a better understanding of Marcy, and of Bean also. Looking forward to book 4.
This, the third in the Grimm Cove series, is about Marcy and Bram. There is a lot of supernatural stuff, a lot of romance, and it has some hilarious scenes (crocheted bikini?) but I didn't enjoy it quite as much as the first two tales. Still, I did enjoy it and would still recommend it.
I was so excited to see this book arrive on my kindle. I couldn't wait to read Marcey's story. I wasn't disappointed. Each of the books in the series brings us further into the world of Grimm Cove and the world beyond. I can't wait for the next one!
The beginning was a little slow for me but I stuck it out and ended up not being able to put the book down. The insecurities of a hundred + year old vampire was endearing.
I am happy to have read Marcy's story but I found the plot to be particularly light in this book. I feel like the other 2 had more meat to them. I'll still continue with the series, but I hope for a fuller plot and less witty banter as filler, though the banter was fun.
MARCY, you rock . This character is crazy in a good tree hugging way, I couldn't put this book down. Its funny, crazy and lovable, with murders and evil thrown in. Grimm Cove series is a blast, thank you Mandy M Roth 👍
From the previous books, we already knew Marcy and Bram were going to hook up and I was surprised how long it took.
What I enjoyed: * Austin, Elis and Jack were a hoot * Loved the internal dialogue between Bram and his demon
What could have been better: * I'm not sure if Marcy is super naive or evil genius who enjoys revving others up, unfortunately I'm leaning towards naive * I feel like Marcy being Bram's mate took away from the Bram getting to know his 40 year old daughter story * The story dragged and then the big fight was like 2 pages
I cannot say enough good things about the third installment in Grimm Cove. It is unbelievably funny. I actually laughed out loud. It's also sexy. Action packed like these books are. The characters Mandy creates are just so amazing. Funny, smart, brave. Marcy is the third friend in the original group of three that move to Grimm Cove and she's kinda looney. However she's also very insightful and a powerhouse of magic. I adore how she sees things in a different light. Group bubble baths included. I love Bram for her. Just a dark, sexy, powerful vampire and slayer. Talk about your twists. He's also protective of those he cares about and Marcy needs that because while she may see spirits, common sense doesn't seem to visit her often. Go read this if you need a really good laugh and a hot vampire hero. More please!
My review will be in the minority. Gave up at end of chapter 5 and just skimmed to the end. Just hadn’t grabbed onto any story but I could see how it would play out. I was confused, felt like I was going nowhere, very slowly, way too much waste of time on nothing. I thought I was reading a YA book at times it was so purile. I found Marcy just plain ditzy. I mean how can a mature woman be so oblivious to reality and scatter minded, then apparently have all these abilities due to her birthright but very more lucky than talented. Bram, not much to say about him. The ending was pretty much as expected, though there was a couple of things that were interesting. Grabbed through kindle unlimited so only my time wasted. Will not be read anymore.
This is Marcy's story and Bram's and i have to say that it was exactly what i wanted the author to deliver! Fast paced , packed with action and fun fun fun!!!! I love Marcy and her aloofness and i love how composed Bram is! They are a fun combination and also an explosive one! I loved the fact that we got to see the other girls and their mates and i loved the fact how united they still are. I also enjoyed that we got to see into Bram's past a bit! I truly enjoyed this book and i can't wait to see what next is to come in this series. I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my honest opinion of it.
Was given this as an arc for an honest review. And boy was the wait worth Mandy M Roth writing and re-writing it. This chapter of the Grimm Cove series is Marcy Dotter and Bram Van Helsing's story. And what a story they have, Bram is a dark brooding master vampire from the early 1800's, who doesn't really like a lot of people, in fact he barley tolerates them. And he along with his family and local wolf pack are doing their part in the good fighting evil around the world. Marcy Dotter has moved to Grimm Cove with her two besties Poppy and Dana, the thing is this is not the first time Marcy has been to Grimm Cove, apparently she was born here forty years ago, and while still a baby was whisked away to be be kept safe until the time was right for her return. Marcy knows she's a witch and a medium as she can not only cast she can see and talk to the dead, talk to plants and talk to animals, which makes her look a little loony especially when she is hugging and talking to tree's. But to her friends who she considers her family they love her as she has a heart of gold. But since coming back to Grimm Marcy wants to find out who her birth family was mainly her parents as she has no clue what's so ever, the only thing she does have is her birth certificate. Maria the head of the local coven tells Marcy she will find "Everything" she needs in the Van Helsing vaults, and by heck Marcy gets more than she bargained for there. i'm not going into the story any more as I will give away too many spoilers. But I will say you will be hooked from the get go so make sure you have a brew made and plenty of uninterrupted free time, lol. This book is packed full with Mandy M Roth's humour that will have you laughing aloud through most of the book, especially with Austin and Elis, a dumb headed alpha male, several strong minded females, it also has sexual innuendo's and encounters, a fantastic fight scene and that most important thing in a PNR a Happy Ever After. this can be read as a standalone as there is no cliffhanger, but you will find spoilers from the others findings their mates, so i seriously suggest you read from book one Cloudy with a Chance of Witchcraft (Poppy's story).
Spellcasting With a Chance of Spirits: A Paranormal Women’s Fiction Romance Novel (Grimm Cove Book 3)- Mandy Roth
This is book 3 in Mandy Roth’s Grimm Cove PWF series. The first two books were great reads but I have been looking forward to Marcy’s story because she is such a crazy, funny, character who has incorporated her attention deficit tendencies as a part of her quirky personality. This is a long twisty turning book that often veers off in directions that very creatively. seems to mimic Marcy’s unusual trains of thought. Just being able to write from her POV must have been draining but adds so much depth and reality to her character. Marcy is unsure what she is exactly, she has a lot of strange powers and is directed by the local coven to check the extensive records at Bram Van Helsing’s estate. The Bram from fictional stories turns out to be real and her mate, as well as one of her best friend’s father (Dana). Marcy is fearless and has faced off several evil characters in the previous books. Now she has a dark evil presence after her and Bram. She and Bram will need the help of most of their friends and family to figure out the several mysteries going on in the storyline and defeat the dark magic presence out to destroy them. Marcy is an entertaining MFC although a few too many times her inner, and outer dialogues are quite lengthy and off story. The hippie, nature loving, bubble bath and hugging possible Fae/witch is a lot of fun, her courage is admirable and she embraces her newly growing powers. She also totally can’t wait to accept her mate, Bram, and get the claiming on. Overall this is a book filled with surprises, fun, suspense and danger, magic both dark and light, awesome characters and packed with a lot of action. It is recommended to read the three books in order, this was a great addition to the trilogy.
This is probably 3.5 stars. I'm giving it 4 because it is such an improvement over the last book.
I will admit that Marcy is the least interesting character to me of the 3 gals in Grimm cove - she is just to whackadoodle for me to actually understand. I also have a real problem with her ending up with Dana's dad. Sorry - seems pervy to me.
I'm a bit confused about Bram and the demon inside him . . . I can't recall if there is actually another presence . . . or just him talking to that which makes him a vampire? There is little explanation for this conundrum beyond it happens.
This story takes place basically on 2 days - One day in New York with Marcy taking a bath and then months later with Marcy in South Carolina. Again, I'm disappointed to see no logic or explanation as to WHY Dana and Marcy decided to pack up and move to South Carolina. No matter HOW good friends are, they rarely uproot their lives permanently to go help a friend. I'm fine with it, but some sort of explanation from their view point would be nice.
The part in NY is basically a set up to show Marcy with ghosts. And, then we are on to SC to see if she can determine her ancestry. Then, we have ONE DAY in SC for her to chase ghosts around Bram's mansion whilst searching his archives. And, they fall madly and passionately for each other in that time frame. Her best friend's dad.
The absolute best thing about this novel is the dialog between Elis and Austin and Bram. And, that is what brings it up a notch. Also, the story, brief as it is, is more developed than the last one. I would, indeed, be happier with more actual plot line.
So. 3.5 stars. Raised to 4 solely based on improvement.
I'm a little torn on this series as a whole. I felt like the first book was solid in terms of plotting and characterizations. The second felt a little light, but I went with it because I like werewolves. I like werewolves A LOT. This one, though...this one felt like plot and character were even lighter than book 2, but the banter was ratcheted up to eleven. Like, there was A LOT of quirky back and forths between our main characters and various secondary characters. A LOT. To the point it took away from what was happening and diluted the characters even more.
Then there was Marcy and Bram. I honestly don't know if I liked the two mains. Marcy was...I don't know. I felt like she was made the butt of a lot of jokes because of her free-spirit and it didn't sit well with me. Bram was borderline stalkerish (and I think I'm being generous in saying "borderline" and TRUST ME I get that fated mates just KNOW even when they don't know, BUT STILL) and everyone was okay with it? Even when Marcy found out he'd been taking pictures of her for years (O.o), EVERYONE WAS COOL WITH LETTING HER MISCONCEPTION OF WHAT HE WAS DOING WITH THOSE PICTURES STAND.
There was something vaguely icky with seeing someone's trust being taken advantage of (repeatedly, as with Marcy and the dude she modeled for and Marcy and ...I don't know, pretty much everyone). On one hand, I get that these are lighthearted books and Marcy wasn't bothered by how people treated her, but it bothered me as a reader.
So I didn't love this one, but it looks like there are going to be a few more books in this series, so we'll see how things play out.
