Hunted on Predator Planet

Rate this book
Love will capture its prey, especially on a Predator Planet.

Esra Weaver, exo-geologist, is hired for the Kerberos-90 Mining expedition, but when she awakens in her Emergency Egress Pod on a tropical, uninhabited planet, she realizes her life has taken a drastic turn for the disastrous. 'Predator Planet' tries to kill her at every turn, and Esra soon discovers it also harbors a mysterious alien out for her blood. When danger and death converge on her, her hunter becomes her savior, and when her feelings for him evolve, she realizes she must battle not only Predator Planet but also her past to make room in her heart for an unexpected but passionate future.

Naraxthel Roika, Mighty Hunter of the Ikthekal race, discovers the existence of a spy on his hunting grounds planet. With blood and fury in his veins, he tracks her down, only to discover that she isn't a spy at all, but a mighty little hunter in her own right. Against centuries of tradition and physiology, Naraxthel's heart-home begins the biological changes that indicate he has discovered his mate. He tries to fight what his heart is trying to tell him, but love doesn't distinguish between star systems and it won't stop growing, even if the consequence is exile.

Together, along with Naraxthel's hunting party, they must embark on a dangerous and desperate journey to reclaim not only Naraxthel's place in his society but also find a way for them to be together.

So this was all sorts of imaginative basic gist Esra's escape pod land on this uncharted dangerous planet.
She is thrust into this savage terrain with only her onboard AI VELMA for assistance.
Thank got for her spacesuit because this planet wants to kill her and it seems to be the only thing standing in the way of her violent death.
But the planet isn't as uninhabited as she originally thought and Esra encounters hunter and warrior Naraxthel who is on this sister planet to his world hunting the vicious Rokhura.
So this had fantastic world-building with rich cultural references and a whole system of worship where the female is revered.
It's a very slow-burn clean sci-fi romance where I didn't really care about the lack of spice because everything else here was just so intense and vibrant managing to draw me into the mystical tapestry of the narrative.
This relies more on the emotional side of things to showcase the connection between Esra and Naraxthel and less on the actual physical act.
I wasn't a huge fan of the title or the cover art itself, though I did think it was representative of the content, but what was inside the pages more than made up for that.
A totally new author for me who I gave a go because I saw this in a facebook group I am in and was intrigued by the description.
I am glad I gave this a chance as I really did enjoy it a lot.

This is my favourite Sci-fi adventure of the year. A perfect blend of action and romance!

Esra Weaver is an exo-geologist who signed up for an intergalactic mining mission which has gone horribly wrong. What follows has shades of Tomb Raider taking on Jurassic Park, with a bit of E.T. homesickness, and a lot Star Trek diplomacy, except much much smarter!

I loved Esra so much! She fights off ginormous flying insects, murderous creepy crawling vines, and dodges bloodthirsty dino-reptiles that inhabit the planet. (If I was ever stranded, I want her V.L. Holt designed astrosuit!) But, as strong-willed and resilient as she is, Esra would be just another link in the food chain if she didn’t find an ally. That’s where Naraxthel comes in. Tall, muscular, agile, courageous and possessing some pretty impressive tech himself, Naraxthel is a cool drink of water to poor castaway Esra. He’s a hunter who has been sent to the planet on a deadly mission and has taken an interest in the little intruder. But first, they need to communicate. I was captivated by their process of finding common ground and figuring out basic alien linguistics. It was reminiscent of Tolkien; thoroughly intelligent.

Predator Planet represents incredible world building. From the description of the flora and fauna, to the technology and language and culture, everything is fascinatingly detailed. There is so much to love about it! Vicky Holt has an incredible imagination. Read this and totally lose yourself in another world.

Book 1 is all about Esra and Naraxthel, but he’s got four fellow hunters sentenced to the same “mission”. Can’t wait! 5 “sister sun”☀️+☀️ Stars!

NO HOT Scenes on this primitive planet

Unfortunately this did NOT feel like a science fiction romance, there just was no romance. They kiss like twice and that takes forever to happen! Also, their interactions are more companionable and friendship building versus feeling any romance vibes.
It also takes a significant portion of the book for them to even start interacting with one another.
Esra, the h of the story wasn’t a terrible h. She was pretty receptive to the aliens and towards Naraxthel, the H, once she started having scenes together with him.
Naraxthel was nice enough, fairly human sounding, not very alien.
99 percent of the book takes place on a completely primitive hunting planet.
Did not find the story to be overly creative or a stand out from other SFR. Similar plots exist in SFR. Stranded h on primitive planet, hunter alien finds her.
The constantly fighting off of native animals and insects got old really fast. It was just over and over and over. Fight a hornet, rub a mud cow, fight a big lizard...etc. I found myself skimming over these scenes after like the twentieth one.
I came into this book looking for a romance, but came away having read a massive mug weird animal survival novel 101.
This book should have been on KU as I just can’t justify the price of 4.99 for non romance.
This book was recommended to me, but I can’t recommend it further if you’re looking for romance vibes.
No plans to seek anymore from this author out after trying this one as it just wasn’t in the ballpark of my preferences. The writing itself wasn’t terrible, so if the writer changes course, I would be willing to try an actual romance by them.

This was good a little slow at times but still good. I’m hoping we will see more of this world and how this couple work towards a better life for them and others.

5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A new author to me, and I have to say, I’m impressed. I didn’t know whether I would enjoy this story but once I got into it I couldn’t put it down. The author has a unique writing style which is very descriptive and emotive at the same time. I came to love Red. He’s just a big teddy bear. The story is not filled with descriptive sexual encounters, rather the author leaves the final act to the readers imagination. Definitely reading more of this series

I love being pleasantly surprised in my reads, and Ms. Holt delivered.

This delightful read started off strong and interesting—no 1-2 slow chapters of introduction/easing in for this work, just jumped right in—and managed to maintain this through the entire story while still providing back story for both main characters and world building. Finding a place to stop was my biggest problem with it. In a format of Esra chapter/Naraxthel chapter that never deviated, it kept me hooked in and wanting to see what was happening next that would be presented with slightly overlapping points of view. This is a solid, steady slow burn romance full of action, snark, politics/intrigue, science, and the importance of building trust and alliances.

This book did not make any of my "smut" shelves, as no actual sex happens in it. (The free to DL "Afterglow" covers the hinted at sexy times and is totally worth the read.) Just a lot of good smolder and heartwarming things that make you "AW" out loud. Seriously, Naraxthel is such a secret sof' boi that it was killing me.

TW/CW: the FMC, Esra, has a past abusive relationship that's still fresh in her mind. Some incidents are detailed in flashbacks, as well as hints to more, and tallies of a lot of injuries.

Esra Weaver's story gets off to a rocky start. Abruptly awakened from cryosleep in an escape pod (EEP), she is deposited on a planet where literally everything is trying to kill her. She barely touches the ground and still waiting for the effects of the drugs she was pumped full of to wear off so she can move when she sees the first: massive dinosaur like reptiles that are apex predators on what she soon christens "Predator Planet." Things only get harder from there, when she soon discovers that nothing is safe, not even the trees. Sure would be nice to have a friend around this place, but the huge dude in the red armor might want to kill her, but she's not really able to talk to him. He keeps doing things that confuse her.

Naraxthel Roika, the Iktheka Raxthe, and Possessor of Ridiculous and Long Self-Given Titles, has come to the Death Planet—sister planet to his own world—on a mission. Bag an impressive amount of meat and get back to the home world for the breeding lottery. Which he thinks is rigged, because he's never been picked, not in 15 cycles. Surely this time he was so impressive that there's no way he'll be overlooked again? But things do not go as planned as he gets swarmed by more prey than he can handle and upon waking, he sees a small space craft and realizes he isn't alone. But who is the mysterious alien? Is she a child? A spy? Did the Goddesses send her, and why? He knows what he should do with her but can't bring himself to do it. She's just so small...and his heart keeps trying to escape its cage, which isn't really a thing...it's just a story, right? Things are confusing, and now he's not so sure what it really is that he wants. When he makes a choice that leads him and the other lottery winners on a hell-ish mission, he decides to find all of the answers to his questions.

One thing that had me so smitten with this story is how the MMC is written. He's definitely an alien with an alien POV—the tone and language choices in his chapters is distinct from the way Esra narrates and thinks—but he still manages to be relatable. He's very dominant and alpha but in a way that will not fall into dub/non con territory. He was raised in a matriarchal society; he always checks to make sure things are okay before he moves ahead. It's not every day that I get to read an alpha alien dude who also jives with my Real World Feminism. He's strong and has a violent role in his society, but he's still super soft on the inside with his own vulnerabilities. His strength comes from supporting and building up, not from taking.

Esra is funny, smart, quick to adapt, and has both the worst and most amazing luck. She was able to function and do what was necessary and have break downs when she needed to. So nicely balanced and never spent too much time stuck in one position or the other. And the way her abusive back story is handled went over well with me. (Yes, these back stories are some of the things I complain about most and critique in this genre. Shockingly, I do like them when well-written.) Esra was able to process her abuse and still be affected by it while moving herself forward and learning to trust and depend on a new male in her life.

Both Esra and Red have pasts to heal from, and both are so supportive of each other. Just. Healthy relationships make me so happy when I get to see them in the genre.

Add that this had a decent sci-fi plot and details, and I was a very happy camper who inhaled this book. So. Bravo. I will fondly reminisce on this one when I'm reading less happy-inducing works this year.

May the death of your enemies bring peaceful slumber.

Wow, Vicky Holts writing gets better and better with every book she writes! Hunted On Predator Planet is the best book yet. She’s even invented a new language for her alien race.

Vicky makes her characters come alive. They are multidimensional and she makes me care about them and what happens to them. Esra is a strong, brave woman with just the right amount of insecurity to make her lovable. I also love how Naraxthel is a warriors warrior, but still willing to admit a touch of vulnerability. Once he admits his love for Esra he is all in, no matter the consequences.

The worst thing about reading this book? The long wait till the next in the series. Ha!

If you are looking for an action-packed romance where the heroine is just as tough as the hero, Hunted on Predator Planet is for you. Fast-paced, funny, and sweet, this alien romance immerses the reader into a whole new world--a Predator Planet--where almost every single thing is deathly and survival is less-than-likely.

Vicky L. Holt has created an in depth, fascinating world with characters that make you laugh, cry, swoon, and cheer. I cannot wait for the next book in the Predator Planet series.

I absolutely loved this book. I read it in less than a day; I just couldn't put it down! The main character, Esra, is fun, smart, brave, a little quirky, and easy to love, which has you cheering her on from the beginning. The writing is great and the imagery ranged from beautiful to sad to terrifying with it's amazing detail. The plot was intricate, unique, and compelling. I can't say enough good things about it. 5 stars. Definitely recommend and will definitely read again!

3.5 rounded up

The FMC is trapped on a planet where everything wants to eat her and a powerful armored alien is hunting her. She has an AI that serves as her informer and medic.
I liked the planet and enjoyed the first 1/4 of the book thoroughly. I didn’t love the mystical goddesses or the lore about heart-homes. It was a bit over the top for my tastes.
I did like the political intrigue and power structure. I like when women are in charge and have fighting skills, at least to a degree. Obviously the power structure is dystopian, but that’s part of the fun of sci fi fantasy books.
I wish there was more spice in this book, especially since it was labeled the “mature audience version”, but that’s a personal preference.

Spice: 2/5

Triggers: domestic violence, violence and gore

Not the usual aliens

It gets a bit tiresome when all aliens are hunky sex gods who mesh instantly with curvy human women who always overcome the communication issue with easy translators popped in their ears.

This is more realistic with a difficult language barrier, limited help from a ship's AI to bridge the gap, scores of native predators, and a dangerously narcissistic alien queen overshadowing everything.

So good, I don't even mind there's obviously more of the story to come...

Hunted

This was a sweet story to curl up with and escape from my troubles. I love that there was minimal angst between the couple, and I love how they came together to work through their language barrier.

Get yourself some coffee and tea, and your favorite blanket so you can be comfortable while you escape for a few hours into one of Vicky Holt's worlds.

Glorious reading.

Sooo I spent 2 days reading books 1-4. & I had a marvellous time

So much is going on in this world so here goes:
1. These covers both old & new are not acceptable. Now that’s not to say they’re bad but damn the story Holt weaves is not reflected in the covers AT ALL. Like a gross disparity between some of the topics Holt handles & what the covers represent.

2. Idk how Holt does it but I’m EACH book she manages to combine & weave a story that at first glance is just your average first contact story with the notion of mates thrown in , but to my understanding she managed to create a whole culture (one that balances the line between an emerging civilization & an advanced) that has me impressed. I’m sure it’s not an idea that hasn’t been thought of before but it was top tier to experience

3. The emotional & character developments. Half the time I was thinking to myself wow she’s really adding emotional depth to these women w the aim of actually fleshing out the “wounds” the characters have. But I think it’s bc I didn’t expect that from a books w these types of covers lol

4. I have to say the sub plot w the political intrigue was done well. & as the series progressed my interest increased in the subplot (which doesn’t always happen for me in alien sci-fi books these days)

5. It wasn’t all smut. In fact there was no steam till the last 10 percent or one scene at the 75% mark or so

6. The world on Ikthe 🤯. On Ikthe everything is trying to kill youuuuuu. I’m shook at the imagination of this author more bc of book 4. Like ma’am I feel like I have more fodder for things that’ll make me shudder. The creepy crawlies alone 🤮 were genius level but I might be biased bc I don’t often read books where the horror/wild factor is a tad much lol - still I can appreciate its brilliance

7. The Ikma 🤬 she’s a complex individual. She is portrayed as mad but man her madness makes me want to throat punch her. But there was a scene where Holt showed us her pov which had me feeling sorry for her. Then I was mad at myself for feeling sorry for her cause she’s unhinged & not in a good way!

I feel like I’ve said soo much & not enough. I’ve loved the characters so far. There’s more than enough diversity between the different personalities that I feel like the efforts of Holt can be seen in how she thought each of them out. The Ikethal (I think that’s their name) make me laugh. They have a blend of old world charm & modernity that’s fun to see as their personalities emerged.

Naraxthenel & him watching Esra (love the way this name looks) find her footing, Hivelt w him referring to himself in the third person like sir??? Then the other Nathan guy w his silly antics, Raxa-something & the other Rax lol made for interesting reading

Yaa, this series made my weekend cause it was great. The next book is Cece & I’m wondering if it will end there cause it seems there’s a lot to go over to complete & satisfy the unanswered qs & a single book may not be enough to do it justice. Sigh I hope Holt continues as she’s been doing, action, romance & mystery

I really really enjoyed this so much. I eagerly await book 5
Also look at me committing to a series after book 3 pls I deserve accolades

A great foundation for more

This was a new to me author and after reading this book I might have to try some of her others. This book was full of world building and tons of details big and small. It also laid a really great foundation to continue this story wether through this couple or new ones. There's was plenty of action, suspense, aliens (places, people & things) as well as what felt to me like a slow burn romance. Now I normally like to see all sides to a romance the good, bad and steamy times. I know some others don’t write like that and with this being my first book by this author I don't know her style. So while there are a few steamy-ish tension filled moments there's nothing shall we say detailed. There's definitely openings and potential for those juicy details if they were to come later, but if not it doesn't take away from the story. Because the story is enticing enough on its own that the steamy bits would just be bonus. But seriously a great story and while in my opinion the story was left in a happily for now I still have some larger overarching questions that I can't wait to see how this author answers them. So not what I would call a cliff hanger just a happily for now where we have openings for more books. I loved both our leading lady and her leading man and how they came to be and all the little parts that are then who they were. Him honorably, brave, just and hot. And her brave, smart courageous and still relatable. Overall a great sci-fi space adventure type romance with tons of world building, would recommend. And I'm hoping we get more books either about this couple or new ones

Vicky Holt's latest is a testimony to her vivid imagination and storytelling prowess. The author not only creates a world replete with colorful scenery as well as a host of deadly plants and animals, she constructs an intricate language for her alien characters, all while telling a classic love story.

Readers are thrust immediately into Esra's struggles as she crash lands onto predator planet, a great hook for the opening chapter. Readers explore the planet through her eyes while meeting a host of human-ish alien characters, and they will experience every deadly encounter with predators that seem to come from every corner and nook & cranny of this world Holt has created.

I very much enjoyed the story being told through the dual POV of the two lead characters, Esra and Naraxthel. The back-and-forth approach kept the story even more interesting as the reader sees most scenes and exchanges between the characters through the eyes of each main character.

As is her trademark, Holt infuses her main character, Esra, with her signature wit and sass, making her a character readers will like and for whom they will cheer.

Holt's painstaking attention to detail is to be commended, as well as her ability to layer some philosophical/faith-based thoughts and social commentary into the storyline.

The book is relatively fast-paced and takes the reader on a wild ride, one both women and men can enjoy. I definitely recommend this book to sci-fi fans, as well as romance readers who can accept an out-of-the-ordinary setting and equally extraordinary characters.

Bruhhhh. Predator Planet is bonkers. I don't mean the series, either. I mean the actual planet is just a DEATHTRAP OF ENORMOUS PROPORTIONS AND HOW DO THESE WOMEN EVEN SURVIVE HERE? Granted, their escape pods are wickedly outfitted with a lot of things a person could need to survive, but STILL. This entire planet is designed to kill and YIKES.

Esra is the first of the women we meet and she has a lot going on. You know, between watching dinosaurs do battle with a kinda scary alien guy and giant spiders that come out of nowhere and attack and the literal air trying to do her in, she has her plate full. Fortunately for her, the alien guy is a little intense and a lot knowledgeable about how to survive on this planet. After a bit of a rocky start, the two of them are working together and figuring out how to communicate and survive.

On Naraxthel's end, he thinks the worst of Esra when he first finds her. But events (and some meddling goddesses) show him the path he needs to take with her and soon he's starting to suspect that the myth of heart-mates might not be as myth-y as he thought.

A whole lot of survival, some political intrigue on Naraxthel's home planet that runs deep, five warriors bound together, a sassy AI, a warrior who starts to believe in the impossible once he meets his special someone, and a lady who refuses to give up despite the terrible odds against her. MAN, this is a wicked planet and I kinda love it.

Dudes! So it took me a while to get to this one but I’m glad I decided to give it a go. I couldn’t put this down. There was action, tribal politics, court intrigue, questioning of faith, romance and two very capable MC’s who weren’t afraid to fight for what they felt the deserved and rebel against the matriarchy. Gah, it was awesome.

I loved the snarkiness of the Esra when she realized she was on a planet that was trying to kill her at every turn. And those were some awesome adventures. The cow-hippos are my favorite with the sister spiders a close second. The tech was a nice touch and the computer seemed to evolve and give back snarkiness at just the right times.

Red (his alien name is too hard to remember) was super awesome, he wanted to protect her while at the same time not control her, which I wasn’t expecting since he was such a capable violent warrior himself. I wish we would have got a little more interaction within his team and him but I’m thinking we will get to know them as the series progresses. I enjoyed how he questioned his matriarchy and wasn’t afraid to risk punishment for not bowing down before the sisters. Her parallel struggles between this world and earth were very nicely done and clear to understand. I can’t wait to read the next one!

This boom was AMAZING! I love a plot driven CLEAN romance book!

I don't know what people are complaining about romance does not equal "hot scenes." You are looking for Erotica, if a romance has hot scenes cool, if it doesn't also cool. If there is nothing but "hot scenes" it is not in the right category.

Now that we got that over and done with, this book had me hooked from the very beginning. There was a lot of science fiction elements that most scifi romance books lack. I didn't feel like the fact that this was a clean romance took away from anything. And if you want the hot scenes the author has a short story (After Glow) with all of that in it. I'm sure she would be willing to give you a copy for free if you ask her.

So if you want a clean romance with lots of scifi, action, and HUGE predator alien animals this is the book for you.

***A roller coaster ride***

What an exciting book.
A story of a human woman that landed in a planet full of prehistoric looking and dangerous predators. Esra with the help of her pods AI V.E.L.M.A navigate a world full of dangers and predators that is trying to kill, eat and maim her. An alien warrior which Esra called Red found her dying and saved her life. The world and character building is brilliant and I felt like I was there with Esra and Red 'Naraxthel and part of their adventure. It's a deadly planet and Esra not only needs to battle alien predators, Bacteria but also her own past demons. I can't wait for the next story and I know it's the grumpy Hivelt and Patee.

First off, my compliments to the author for her research, science, and world building. It made reading the book immersive and hooked me from page one.

Ersa had her funny moments, her kick monster-booty moments, her girl-take-on-the-whole-bloody-world moments. Certain Death was never a cake walk. Nothing came easy for Ersa. She had to fight for every breath of survival.

How fitting that she earned Red's attention. He came from a culture so vividly layered, so steeped in warrior tradition; from royal politics to religion, this alien hunter had his share of scars but never lacked heart.

VELMA's arc was equally entertaining. I enjoyed watching the characters grow throughout the book and would like to see them again in future novels. I can't wait for more in this series!

Hunted

This was a wonderful book to read, the world building was some of the best ive seen in the romance genre. I was expecting a kickass monsterkilling female from the description and i got that and more, the FMC wasnt some superwoman but instead someone you could relate to who saved herself with cleverness, adaptability and courage. I enjoyed the book even more because even in a sci fi setting it seemed realistic.

My only critiscism would be that you only got a taste of Esra and Reds romance at the end, the slowburn did a great job of building a believable relationship between two different species but the ending was a bit too rushed to really satisfy.

Dinosaurs, scorpions, and wasps, OH MY!

Vicky's world building skills are amazing!
Big giant monsters threaten a geologist who crash landed on a primitive planet.
But she's not the only sentient being there, another race of people use this planet to hunt animals for their. Big, giant, burley, mean, but sensitive oh so sweet, I just want to kiss them, aliens.

Plenty of laughs from an over-helpful AI, a well thought out alien race, a language barrier, and a sweet slow burn. Pretty much hits all the good stuff needed for a fun romp through Jurassic Planet.

#cleanalienromance

AWWW SHUCKS, this was interesting but fell flat for me without the intense passion. It was sweet but almost platonic, even their first kiss was rather dull and came out of nowhere. Loved the idea and concept, but it didn't take my breath away. The MCs barely even had any contact in the beginning until nearly half the book's over only do they interact, and most of the time our heroine's battling with perilous situations, she straddled the line between life and death.

What's Good?
The world building was interesting and there was a lot to learn here. We got to TRULY EXPERIENCE the characters' cultural difference, and Gosh the language barrier was a killer. We were put through the ringer of knowing how it feels to be on an alien planet - ALONE - in a dangerous jungle, whilst being hunted by god knows what. Also, meeting other lifeforms? Well, that could have gone horribly wrong if this story was written as a horror genre.

What's Less than Good?
The romance was pretty much fated-mates but personally I prefer a bit of smut. While the MCs were sweet on each other, there was no sexual tension that simmered the pages, and the deed was definitely closed curtain. That's so sad, because most alien sci-fi romances are made up of really steamy scenes that curl your toes, so yeah, I couldn't rate this higher than 3 stars. Also, I noticed there was vivid descriptions of what the MMC looks like, but we don't even know what's the heroine's hair colour?!

OVERALL 3 ⭐⭐⭐ for effort, but otherwise if not for the fact that this was a romance, it could have been a sci-fi adventure book instead that read like an encyclopedia for 'How to Maneuver Crash Landing on an Alien Planet' or the 'Idiot's Guide to Alien Planet Survival 101' LOL! Despite that, I'm still intrigued enough to pick up the next book and see whose the alien sucker who was going to meet his fated mate.

Good

Esra and Naraxthel
An exo-geologist and mining specialist, Esra was on a spaceship heading out to a new job, when something happens. Her escape pod lands on a planet teeming with life, and everything is trying to kill her!
Naraxthel is a hunter for his people, he hunts on the planet for food for the women on the twin world. He’s astonished to run across the soft traveller that doe not belong there.
Two beings on an alien world, with two languages, two cultures; can Esra convince Naraxthel that she is not a threat?
The planet Ithke is incredibly dangerous, but Esra learns that she is stronger than she ever thought possible, while Naraxthel learns that the soft traveller might just be the answer and mate he has been looking for.

Heavy on the sci-fi, light and sweet on the romance, this is a superb sci-fi romance book, with a wounded warrior heroine, and a deeply moral hero.
Esra is a victim of domestic abuse, but one who fought her way free, and made a new life for herself.
Naraxthel too has endured his share of problems, but has worked hard to overcome those, and has a deep seated notion of honour that causes him even more trouble.
Together they make for a sweet romance, and an enthralling adventure on an alien world.
The book is enjoyable on many levels, but is highly recommended for those who like their sci-fi romance tilting to the sci-fi side of things.

:) Just what I needed to kickstart my reading. Juggling several other books on my currently reading list, I've been sidetracked by the allure of tv shows for a while now.

Hunted on Predator Planet is a short 331 page read. I was sucked into the world. The author gave me enough to fill in the blanks on Esra's past without making it "too much" or too "info dump-y". The different planets with their different life forms and customs and humanity's own progress were all established in a way that kept me turning the page for more. Bare bones with some meaty bits.

I appreciated that Hunted on Predator Planet was not "sexxed up". Of course it isn't, earth to reader, look at the genre. Ain't no erotica here. Although Naraxthiel is sort of like humanoid, the author doesn't write him being all googly eyed over her assets. He's mostly awed by her strength, her will and perseverance to survive on Ikthe. The author doesn't have Esra wax over his physique, his looks too much either which is GREATTTT. Sure, there are the moments where Esra's all like he's so strong bla bla but it wasn't dialed up to the max. Digestible.

They meet sans the camouflages, the suits and etcetera after quite a while into the book. It starts off slow to establish both characters in the story. I loike!

Mixed thoughts on this one. I guess I really depends on what you are looking for.

Firstly, this was recommended to me as a clean read- as in the sex scenes were closed door. They weren’t. Not a problem necessarily, just wasn’t what I was expecting. if you have an alien and human get up close and personal, why would you focus on describing the human female anatomy, and no mention of the alien man’s? In fact, he never takes his armor off his lower half. It was all very underwhelming, and I probably would have enjoyed the story more of those scenes were left out.

Secondly, it is a very science-y descriptive book. Yes, the character is a geologist, but the bulk of the first half of the book is spent describing rocks and caves and classifying animals and trees. I got bored of that fast.

Another thing I got bored of quickly, was that she gets hurt/attacked/injured nearly every few pages for a large portion of the book. Yes, it’s called Predator Planet. Yes, it would be hard to survive. I get it. But it was repetitive and lost meaning to me.

So my experience with this book wasn’t bad, but wasn’t great. I have no desire to read the next one, even though a large part of the storyline remains unanswered in this book.

I enjoyed this sci-fi adventure very much, honestly far more than I expected. I had never heard of this series, and got this one (book 1 of a series) for free through a stuff your kindle day. Typically those don’t always turn out to be good, but boy this one worked for me.

This book centers far more on the sci fi and adventure themes and less on the romance, but there is a romance (no real smut though sadly). The FMC is trapped on an alien planet that is populated by predators, including dinosaurs. She is forced to learn how to believe in herself, which she struggles with after fleeing an abusive relationship on earth. The MMC comes from an alien race that subjugates men and forces them to engage in dangerous hunts to provide for the females, all for the tiny chance of being granted the privilege to procreate.

I immediately bought book 2 upon finishing this and hope the next book is just as much fun as this one was.
