Anne Shirley wants a family, desperately. When Matthew and Marilla (elderly siblings who manage a farm together), send for a boy to help with the farm, Anne is shipped to them by mistake.
"Mrs. Lynde could always tell when something was afoot."
Shy Matthew could not help but find her talkative nature enjoyable and strict Marilla felt surprisingly cheerful as she raised Anne.
"Would you rather be divinely beautiful, dazzlingly clever or angelically good? I can never deicide. Am I talking too much? I can stop."
"You can talk all you like."
And Anne? She felt right at home immediately. From the Lake of Shining Waters to the Haunted Woods, every inch of Green Gables was perfect.
"I've never in all my life seen or heard anything quite like her."
As an Anne of Green Gables remake, this one was fairly decent. 4 stars for the content.
"You're an odd girl, Anne with an E. But I believe we're going to be splendid friends."
