DON'T MISS THIS PULSE-POUNDING ORIGINAL STORY, THE SEQUEL TO 'HELLO NEIGHBOR: MISSING PIECES', BASED ON THE HIT VIDEO GAME FROM TINYBUILD!
It's been four months since Nicky Roth has seen his best friend and neighbor, Aaron Peterson. Aaron's father, a reclusive theme park designer, told the town that Aaron and his sister Mya are living with a relative far away, but Nicky can't seem to accept it.
Plagued by terrifying nightmares of robotic mannequins, rotting theme parks, and a dark basement, Nicky teams up with his friends from school to find out what really happened to Aaron and Mya. Together, they start piecing together a picture more disturbing than they could have imagined.
The scream coming from the neighbor's house can't be nothing, and Nicky is determined to get to the bottom of where his friends went, and what - if anything - can be done to save them.

Logra mantener la tensión y aparecen nuevos personajes , pero seguimos sin saber qué está pasando con el vecino. Espero que el cuarto libro sea el último. Este es el segundo y solo tengo 4, alguien sabe cuantos son?
The creepiness and the helplessness of the main characters makes it a pretty spooky middle grade book to read. Prequel to a game I have never played but still quite intriguing to read. 🙂
So...I read a lot of books. I have, in my house, three full size bookcases packed so full of novels that even with that much space I'm stacking them sideways on top of each other to fit them in. Reading goes over in my house. St night I read to my 8 and 10 year old boys. You know, age appropriate stuff. I've read, out loud, the entire Harry Potter series, The Dragonlance trilogy that I loved when I was a kid, and the Ultimate Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy as well as all kinds of teen novels.
We read about 100 goosebumps books, the Gameknight999 series Minecraft books, The Woodsword chronicles minecraft series, the last kids on Earth, the Five nights at Freddy's books and more. They're all pretty decent but this particular series, the Hello Neighbor prequel books, were an actual pleasure to read. I'm not going to get into reviewing the story, you can look it up on Wikipedia and someone will get more detailed than I'm willing to do. Instead I'm just offering a recommendation: Go ahead and read these. They're well written and well paced. They're creepy and a little dangerous. The story goes beyond the decent story that most teen books can manage into something that keeps a veteran reader invested in this story based on a video game with janky controls that's, you know, not really my style.
Are they the best books I've ever read? Not by a long shot, nor the tenth best, but they have an awful lot actually going for them. I found this unexpected development quite a happy surprise. Fair play to the Author; Carly Anne West. I'll be checking out her other work. If you're even looking at this review you've already got a good idea what to expect. Here's what you might not expect: These books are good. Actually really good. Give them a look.
The cover grabbed my attention to buy this book, at first I only say a (butcher), but with further observation, I noticed the eyes of the man and his posture all indicating that he is the villain in the story. The boy sneaking behind his back with the troubled expression planted on his face completed the whole picture.
I like the fact that this novel is based on a video game. I searched for videos about the game, and it is straightforward compared to the events in this novel. In the game, you have to hide and outsmart your scary neighbor, which is really hard, but in this story, we have characters, conflict, problems, depth, and a realistic atmosphere. It keeps you wondering about the missing boy and girl and hope that the story's hero will find them soon.
I didn't buy the first book in the series yet, but I am eager to read it.
It is a horror story, but it won't make look behind your back or jump out of your seat; the scaring level in this novel is acceptable.
After Aaron and Mya's "disappearance", Nick just can't believe they are actually fine. After Aaron's message and his sister's pleading for help, the boy keeps on spying Mr Peterson (the father). Besides that, lots of people from Raven Brooks city are excited about having the Golden Apple Amusement Park brought down to give place to new things, which is not good for Nick's investigations. Mr Peterson continues his strange behaviour and seems to be doing something awful in that place. It is up to Nick to discover what is actually happening in order to help Aaron and Mya, which is something he feels he should have done before they were gone and now it seems too late. I could not put this book down. The suspense the author creates is amazing! The plot is super gripping and now I find myself looking for the other books from the series... Can't wait to see what's happening next!
I read this book all in one day and oh my goodness. This is only the second in the series and yet I’m convinced it’s the best so far. The characters in this series are very relatable despite it being a horror novel. One of the characters in this book to me, felt slightly underwritten, but I was more or less satisfied with her. Waking Nightmare is great because it gives you hints to the story of the game hello neighbor. Even though this is a video game book, I would recommend Hello Neighbor: Waking Nightmare and the first book: Missing Pieces, to anyone who likes a decent book
+2 stars: this sequel managed to keep the cast small and vivid. I could tell you a lot about each character, their aspirations, their regrets, their favorite foods, and their hobbies. The author is just really talented. +1 star: holy crap grandma how could you do that to a 3 year old. No wonder Nicky is afraid he might be losing his mind. +1 star: yay quartet of teen sleuths gooooo -1 star: boo the teen sleuth squad does not have an animal mascot yet +1 star: but the squad is named E.M.U. so it's forgivable +1 star: Enzo chasing after more popular kids and licking their Jordans just to not make the team after all was such delicious schadenfreude.

Read the book before I allowed my 8 year old to read it. Good kids thriller story, I would let me kid read the book, however, I saw previews for the video game and that is a big no for several more years. I even enjoyed this story.
Waking Nightmare(Hello Neighbor,#2) is a fast paced book packed with action and mystery. Just by looking at the book I was able to realize who the villain in the story was. In the beginning Nicky pairs up with his friends to piece together what happened to Aaron and Mya, plagued by visions involving robotic dolls, rotten amusement park, as well as a dark underground. They begin building together some kind of image that is much more frightening than they could have thought. By the time I got to this point in the book I knew that it was going to be good. One thing is that for those of you that don't read too much it can be a little confusing. I found myself getting lost from time to time throughout the book, but that's just because it's mostly dreams and visions. I give this book a three out of five and certainly recommend this to those of you that like the mystery and the scary plot that's waiting for you so make sure to check it out.
In the second installment of the Hello Neighbor series, Nicky Roth is growing increasingly worried about his friend, Aaron Peterson, who has disappeared, supposedly to stay with an aunt. But when Nick contacts the aunt, she has no idea where Aaron and his sister Mya are. Aaron and his other friends are determined to get to the bottom of this mystery as things get creepier and creepier, and Aaron's father seems worthy of suspicion. There are some interesting twists and turns as Aaron is restless at night, dreaming of amusement parks and waking up in places he cannot remember going to. Middle grade readers will eat this up as will fans of Skeleton Creek.
In the Beginning of the chapter it told me something I didn’t know and it’s that In the Hide and seek game there is a hidden Chain that says “Golden Apple Young Inventors Club” which I think it’s for sure something to do with the golden Apple in the Orignal Game because it says Golden Apple and gave me An idea of There being Multiple Golden Apples like a club of Golden apples cause at the end of the chain it says “Club” and that could be
This book was just ok, I had a hard time understanding what was happening mostly because a lot of the book is about dreams. These are still one of the weirdest series of books I have ever read. Don't really know if I would continue if I wasn't reading them with my boys. They seem to be enjoying them so maybe I am just not the target audience.
I absolutely loved this book. Much like the last one I love the fact that these books are adding to the mythos of Hello Neighbor. It is so amazing that I can experience a story that began in a video game and then continued on in a book.
While I enjoyed the narrator, I felt this story just didn't have a lot going on. Nick kept searching for Aaron and Maya, but nothing was ever resolved. I want to know what happened and the build up needs to be something good when it is revealed, but I fear I'll be disappointed.
It was pretty good. The plot twists were sooooooo incredibly unexpected and the book was very descriptive. The beginning was a bit confusing but it definitely provided a lot of information for the first book of the series. ~baka baddie out
Love how we can get a deeper look at the game lore and more about the characters. My favorite part of the book is how Nicky and his friends have a wall showcasing many clues of Mr Peterson. This shows their Nicky's dedecation of solving the mystery of finding his friend Aaron,
