"My body is strong. My body can do amazing things. My body is my own."

This book is absolutely beautiful. The illustrations are gorgeous and so inclusive of all body types, it's a treat to read this one. Body positivity is something that is so very close to my heart! Reading this book made me wonder what it would have been like if more of such books existed when I was a kid. I wish the new generation learns to love their body despite what society defines as "beautiful". Definitely recommend getting this one for kids!

[I'd like to thank NetGalley and Jessica Sanders for this ARC.]

SELF LOVE!
SELF CARE!

A beautiful picture book about the journey of a girls body during puberty and growing up. The impact those changes on the outside can have on our insides. It stresses the importance of self acceptance. Also, practicing self care and self love should start sooner rather than later, and should be part of your life routine.

The illustrations are wonderful. Capturing all different types of body types, hairstyles and dress styles. Highlighting the theme that being yourself is great. Always be you! To always love yourself, inside and outside. A great message that can be read by not only adolescent girls but all ages of women.

Every so often I stumble across a book I wish I’d had the opportunity to read when I was a kid. This is one of those books.

While acknowledging that all bodies are different (and this is okay!), the focus of this book is appreciating what your body can do rather than what it looks like. Examples include using your hands to create, your eyes to watch television or read and your nose to smell the sea or flowers.

Self care ideas for showing your body kindness are included and seeking help from others is normalised. What you can do for your body and what it does for you are addressed but you are also reminded that you are more than your body. You are kind, curious, passionate and so many other wonderful things.

description

I absolutely adored the message of this book but it was Carol Rossetti’s illustrations that sealed the deal for me. So many different bodies are represented. Bodies of various colours, shapes, sizes and abilities are included. There’s even cellulite, body hair and stretch marks, and I love that!

description

I’ve lost count how many times I’ve read this book so far. Although the target audience are children, adults who didn’t receive this message as kids will also be able to use this book to challenge the stereotypes they’ve internalised about their own body.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Frances Lincoln Children’s Books, an imprint of Quarto Publishing Group, for the opportunity to read this book.

I wasn't sure what I'd think of Love Your Body, a picture book aimed at older children, but i think it's fantastic and a book that all children should read.

Throughout the book we see many different kinds of people, each of them are shown to be happy with how they look and this is brilliant as it allows us to see that beauty and self acceptance comes from within and we can do that for ourselves. The words through the book is very encouraging to read and explain in subtle but informative ways how bodies can change and how we should feel about them.

The self love aspects of the book are great as they give something to think about and consider trying out which might help with better self esteem for children and allow them to think about all that their bodies do for them. The illustrations throughout the book are lovely and it is great that we get to see a diverse range of people, this gives it a more realistic and relatable feel to the book.

I think this is an amazing book that would be perfect to show self love and acceptance of our bodies whatever they look like.

The ARC of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

My body is strong. My body can do amazing things. My body is my own.

This is a small book with a very big and important message. Every body is different, but that's nothing wrong with that, because that's exactly why every body is beautiful. This short book talks about self-acceptance, self-care, self-love and so much more! I think it's a useful and important read at any age really, but I'm happy that it's targeted to children so that they can read and learn this good message.

A new standard for young women. An incredibly thoughtful narrative that is matched by the illustrations that truly represent the nooks and crannies of real bodies. Eager to get this book in the hands of the young women in the US.

Love Your Body by Australian author Jessica Sanders is an empowering little book for girls. It conveys an important message to young women about self-love and self-care. I like the list of things to do when you're feeling down and think the illustrations are wonderful. I just wish this book had been around when my own daughter was younger! With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy.

Love Your Body is a beautifully-presented picture book aimed at younger readers, exploring important contemporary themes of body positivity, physical diversity, psychological self-care and self-love.
While Jessica Sanders states in her author's note that the book's primary intended audience is girls and those who identify as girls, the language used throughout is non-gendered and the messages contained within are universally applicable. Sanders' professional background is in social work and gender studies, and she draws upon a body functionality approach, feminist theory and the body positive movement in framing her message.
As the mother of a 12-year-old, I found Love Your Body a timely and well-pitched resource for a cohort who are constantly bombarded with media and social pressures around physical ideals of "perfection". I really liked the variety of prompts Sanders provides to help younger readers form a positive body image and employ psychological self-care. Additional contacts and resources are provided at the end of the book.
Love Your Body is thoughtfully illustrated throughout by Brazilian designer/illustrator Carol Rossetti.
I'd highly recommend Love Your Body for readers aged 8+, and by extension to parents, mentors, teachers and librarians catering to this age group. This is a lovely positive book with a powerful and important underlying message.

Escuchá a tu cuerpo.

------✄------

This is not only a beautiful but (and mostly) an important book.

"Love your body" includes all types of bodies: big, small, tall, fat, thin, chubby, hairless, full of hair, freckled, disabled, bodies. It includes girls with vitiligo, stretch marks and cellulite, and let me repeat myself and mention disabled once again. It also includes many ethnicities, skin colors, eyes, hairs and ages. And know that it's not only meant for cis girls and those who identify as a girl, but whoever reads it, since (and I quote) "negative body image can affect anyone, regardless of gender, race, or sexual orientation".

This is the kind of book that I'd have loved to read when I was a little girl. Sorry, let me rephrase that-- this is the kind of book that I'd have needed to read when I was a little girl. I think every kid should read this book, learn about their bodies and start loving themselves from a very young age. I also think they should learn about other bodies, not only to realize that their body is perfect the way it is but also to learn that other bodies follow the same rule, even if they're different. It helps with empathy and sisterhood, and makes a better human being in the proccess.

I also want to mention the little messages the author put in this book, that I think are incredible for healing for people like me, a full grown 25 years old woman, and super helpful for little kids: be kind to yourself. Listen to your body. Be kind both to your body and your mental health, because we all are giving the best of us and doing what we can, and that might be more or less of what the world is asking us to do. When it comes to your body and mental health, be mindful and respect its own limits, know yourself, try and follow your own rules to respect them. And if something's not feeling right, if there are negative thoughts that aren't going away, look for help. You're not less brave for doing so: we all need help sometimes.

For all of us that spent our teenage years suffering because we did want to love our bodies but our family, friends, beauty standards and/or society itself made it difficult-- this is the book we deserved. This is the kind of book that'll hopefully mark next generations, that I hope will be full of love for themselves and empowered as hell.

I want to buy a million copies of this and give one to every single girl and woman I know. The message is such a necessary thing people need to be hearing in our society, and the illustrations are so cute and amazing that they really bring to life vividly the ideas of this book. Thank to the incredible author of this Jessica Sanders and amazing illustrator Carol Rossetti, you both have done an immensely inspirational thing with this book.

This. Book. Is. Delightful.

I absolutely love this. It isn't a story book so much as a series of helpful messages about self-love and self-care. Concepts are explained in a way that is positive and realistic, with reminders that everyone still has bad days and sad times. I appreciate that an effort is made not to shame people for struggling with loving themselves, which is something that can be easy to fall into. It is great at demonstrating how our bodies support us through life, and in recommending how we can take care of ourselves.

I would probably say that this is for older kids, teens and adults - the writing is a bit long for younger children's attention spans, and some of the concepts just won't make sense to them. However, I think reading an edited version to younger kids could still be helpful because of the overarching positivity and the way that the illustrations show a wonderfully diverse mix of bodies, races and styles.

Thank you to Quarto Kids for sending me a now much-loved ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I have to admit, I felt a bit emotional reading this beautiful book. The words are lovely and the inclusive illustrations are perfect. Even as an adult woman, it was a nice reminder for me, so I can only imagine the help/impact this will have for younger individuals, especially as their body is changing. I think this would be great for my goddaughter but will discuss with her mom before ordering.
It feels a shame that books like this are needed and are therefore so impactful. This book is stunning and I’ll be sharing my feelings with all my parent friends... might even buy myself a hard copy!

I received an e-ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. These opinions are my own.

Thank you Netgalley for the e-arc. All opinions are my own.

I appreciated the authors note at the start.
I particularly liked the conversations on self care and the understanding that sometimes these things won't work and it's okay to talk to someone that's trusted.
The illustrations by Carol Rossetti are beautiful.

I loved the soft touch of feminism and diveritsy throughout.

This, I'd imagine, would be a very encouraging book for young girls in particular.

Pick it up, give it a go and enjoy! >(^_^)<

I have mixed feeling with this one. First, it strictly about women body, when men could have trouble accepting their as well... Just saying! Second, I totally love and agree with the love your body and accept yourself the way you are, when it's something you don't have control over. Handicap, body frame/bone size, your face, etc. But I have trouble, and it was present in the book but not too much, still it was, when presenting obesity as a «problem» or something you're «born with». Everybody can be or can't be fat! That's a fact. Nobody become fat eating healthy and exercise, except maybe a few, very few those kind of thing are very rare, dysfunction or medical problem. So accept yourself the way you are, but stay healthy, not just for your appearance, but for your own health and life!

4 out of 5 🌟 The ultimate feel-good book

Jessica Sanders wrote an ultimate feel-good-book with tips on how to feel great in our body and how to cheer yourself up when feeling a little down.
The book is encouraging to seek help if needed and providing helpful addresses and advice. It teaches you to love your body with all its strengths and flaws and reminds you of all cool and beautiful things people can archive because of their bodies.
The most important lesson the book carries is to listen to your body and act the way you feel, without good and bad answers. 'Love Your Body' empowers readers to trust their intuition and best judgment to practice self-care.
"Use your body to live your life in whatever way you choose and know that you are always worthy of love and respect."

'Love Your Body' also shows importance or one's mind and feelings and learn how to start your journey on the self-love path.

The watercolor illustrations that decorate this book are adorable and heartwarming. They make the whole publication more friendly and approachable for readers from different age groups. I also love the female-empowering message the book carries which makes it an excellent gift for young girls.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and feelings are my own.

A book about body positivity for girls.

Growing up, changing from girl to woman is tough. Lots of young women have problems growing into their body, loving themselves, accepting themselves and their bodies as they are. This book may help seeing the great things our bodies can do. May help accepting yourself, finding self-care routines, learning to ask for help, find your style.

The illustrations are very good, they show bodies of every size and colour, focusing on the positive! I loved seeing hairy armpits and stretchmarks - well-done!

A fantastic read for young female-identifying kids introducing them to the concept of "self-care" and "self-love". There are great mantras to live by and practices listed to help celebrate your body while also acknowledging the highs and lows you can experience, especially as you get older. At the back of the book there is also a great resource list for kids as well as families ranging from general advice to abuse and crisis hotlines.

I am very happy my library obtained a copy of this book and I think it is one every should have.

I adored Love Your Body. I think self-love and self-care is such an important message. I truly wish I would have had this picture book when I was younger because I still needed the message this book had. The book also has tips on how to handle negative thoughts which I also think is so important. I like to think if I had had this book when I was younger, I might have been a bit kinder to myself about my beautiful body. Even now, I need to be reminded to be kind to myself.
