This is one of my favorite Babymouse books. Babymouse has to learn the value of fun of having an annoying little brother. I understand this. My brother was so annoying as a kid and now I live in his basement. ha.

Babymouse is a witty and funny read. I would like my niece to read this, but she likes picking our her own books now and she doesn't read my books I give her.

Very funny - Babymouse is a complex, likeable character, part adventure-seeker, part brat, part dreamer. Her drifting back and forth from dreams to awkward reality creates the most laughs, but the omnipresent voice of warning is pretty funny, too, especially when Babymouse talks back to it. Hilarious depictions of fellow students, each a very different creature (think bar scene in the first Star Wars).

The lesson here from a family summer stay at the beach is that siblings can make good friends and ultra worthy playmates.

Babymouse is basically a drama queen wanna-be. I like it.

Geared for little learners in the form of silly fun. The little mouse-girl, obsessed with her daydreams is always dreaming of an heroic act, and being startled back into reality by some jolt. She moves fast, talks fast and is a little drama queen! With her bent whiskers, she runs hither and froth trying to get away from her little mouse brother who always wants to play. He is as obsessed with her as she is with everything but him. With no time for him, she gets into one thing after another, usually some failed plan or mission, until he just gives up and runs away. Feeling sad, she seeks him and decides to play with him and then realizes she is having the most fun with him! A good lesson in appreciation, loving and respecting those closest to you!

School’s out for the summer and Babymouse and her family are off to the beach. Babymouse goes surfing, gets sunburned, goes snorkeling, builds an awesome sandcastle, and rides the bumper cars on the boardwalk. She’s having lots of fun, but she wishes that she had someone cool to play with. Babymouse learns that sometimes friends come in weird places.

Probably my least favorite of the Babymouse series, this still features the best parts about Babymouse-- crazy fantasy/daydream sequences and caustic commentary on life's little issues, as well as yelling at the narrator.

Beach Babe was cute and funny also. She was dreaming the whole time. Thinking she was a really good surfer. It was so funny but it was cute how she was so happy but it turned out to be a dream.

This book was very different than I thought it was going to be. When I first picked it up it seemed that it was going to be a chapter book because it was not very thin, but had some thickness to it. But when I opened it I realized that it was in what I would say a comic formation. On every page was a different picture that somewhat resembled a comic to me, with little blurbs explaining what Babymouse was doing or thinking. I really enjoyed reading this. This is because it was very entertaining and I know if I was a little girl still in the third grade I would love to read books like this. There were so many pictures to look at and it was in my favorite color; pink!

I think that this series of books would be very fun for little girls to read. They were very busy with a lot of illustrations to look at as well as pretty humorous at points. I also think that girls would like these books because in a series they are able to read more than just one about a specific character and all the characters stay the same which are nice because they won't have to relearn people. It seems as though already they are popular since there are so many books about Babymouse already.

As I was looking at all of the books that I could choose from which were in this series, I liked how the author wroteall different types of things that Babymouse does such as go to the beach, be a rockstar, go to camp and there was even one about the Christmas holiday! I would definitely recommend this book to teachers and parents.

This is a great book!!! Before I read this book, I didn't really play with my sisters all lot. just try to have fun by myself. It was really boring and not FUN. But after the book, I changed and played with my sisters. It was all lot funner ( not funnier ) than before!! It changed me. Sometimes, your siblings can fill in your friend when she's/he's not here, or they're your best friends. If your not playing with your sisters right now, play with them.... You'll think it's fun. Even if he read your diary. Or posted it online. babymouse is a great character. Also squeak ( correct? ). Brother and sister. Or sister and brother. Thx for reading his review

The Babymouse series is wildly popular with tween girls, and I can certainly see why. For one thing, Babymouse sounds exactly like an twelve year old girl. There is a frenetic quality to the way that she talks, and bright pink, stars, hearts, and extra exclamation points are all there, often to almost eye-searing effect. However, these books are cute, engaging, and tell a story. They also address the issues that young girls everywhere face, from frizzy hair (or whiskers ;) ), bullies, pesky siblings, and algebra. Not for adults but just perfect for the middle school set.

It's summer, and Babymouse is headed to the beach with her family. She's having a good time, but her little brother Squeak keeps getting in her way. But something (can't tell you what, it's a spoiler) happens that makes Babymouse appreciate her sibling's company.

I love this book. I'm not even going to pretend I'm reading this series with the kids anymore, ha ha. Though I still have hopes my toddler might enjoy them when she's older! I like Babymouse's over the top personality and her elaborate adventure fantasies. She's sassy and fun, and yet there's a good message within every book.

I love that Babymouse had so much stuff in her locker---especially the "troublesome gnomes". It was a sweet ending about family! Babymouse always makes me smile.

Beach Babe is the third book in the BabyMouse graphic novel series. These are PRECIOUS books! I am not usually a big fan of graphic novels, but I really liked this one. It is about a big sister mouse who dreams of being an amazing surfer chick at the beach. The book starts out during the last day of school. We follow Babymouse as she cleans out her locker and later finds out that they are taking a family vacation to the beach. Babymouse and her little brother, squeak, are super excited! The book is about Babymouse having fun at the beach and ignoring her baby brother in a way. He wants to spend time with his big sister and she is not having it. The book ends when Squeak runs away and Babymouse finally realizes how mean she has been to her little brother. They finish the trip surfing and enjoying each other's company.

I loved the fact that this is a lower level graphic novel. So many graphic novels take a genius to read. I liked the simplicity of this one. I also liked the fact that it is part of a series. I feel like kids could get really involved in reading about the antics of Babymouse. I also adored the illustrations! I loved the pink and black contrast in this book.

I could use this book to encourage my girl students to get excited about graphic novels. There are so many graphic novels about aliens or superheroes that seem like they would appeal more to boys than girls. I like the fact that this series could appeal to both.

Comics generally appeal to boys more so than girls, however Babymouse is geared more for girls. A lot of the time comics have a lot going on on each page or even in each frame, but in Babymouse, it is not terribly busy and there are not a lot of words, mainly dialogue so it is a lot easier to follow than some of the other comics I have been exposed to. In this book, it is the last day of school and Babymouse is very excited for school to be over so her family can go on their vacation. It is announced that they family is going to the beach this year. Babymouse is ecstatic. Throughout the book Babymouse's little brother Squeak continuously wants to play with his sister, but Babymouse constantly turns him away and goes and does things by herself. For a majority of the book Babymouse does not have much fun, however, once she starts doing activities with her kid brother, she has a blast. It takes a while for Babymouse to realize that it can be fun to hang out with her brother and that he looks up to her, however, once she does realize it, everyone is happy. The story has a great message that even if there is not someone your age to play with, playing with siblings can be more fun. This is a great book for elementary children, mainly girls, to read. It would be a perfect silent reading book for in class, plus it could get the students into a series.

Babymouse: Beach Babe follows Babymouse as she vacations to the beach with her family. The book bounces back and forth between Babymouse’s actual vacation and her fantasy world in which, in this book, she is a world renowned surfer (“Beach Babe”), mermaid (“Little Mermouse”), and an explorer (“Dr. Babymouse”). In her real life, Babymouse has to try and live out her fantasies while also avoiding her baby brother Squirt, which in itself becomes the real story. The graphics in Babymouse appear rough and almost unfinished and are colored in mostly black and white, with the occasional pink background or accent. The illustrations work, though, and the story is told in equal parts through them and the text. The panels in Beach Babe are not easily distinguished – sometimes they are the perfect square or rectangle boxes that one might imagine in a graphic novel, while at other times there is a circular panel inset into a one or two-page spread. Babymouse also often talks directly to an unidentified narrator, and this, combined with the more complex panel art, might confuse younger readers. For readers already familiar with the graphic novel format and who understand how to read sequential story art, Babymouse: Beach Babe is another great title they will enjoy. It is an essential purchase for school and public libraries.

1.) Genre- Graphic Novel

2.) Summary- After everything goes wrong with her family's beach vacation, Baby Mouse learns that sometimes the person you want to hang out with the least can actually make all the difference.

3.)a.) Area of focus- Illustrations

3.)b.) Holm uses simplistic illustrations in bold colors to clearly describe the scenes in this graphic novel.

3.)c.) All of the pictures in Baby Mouse are drawn in shades of pink, white, and black. This helps to simplify the illustrations and makes the book easier to read for beginning graphic novel readers. On pages 54-55 of the book several different things are going on at once. However, the usage of mostly black and white pictures a few pink accents helps guide the reader's eyes across the pages.

4.) Curriculum Connections- Baby Mouse fulfills an important role in primary level reading. With it's graphic novel style and pink color scheme it appeals to female readers and could serve as a bridge between easy books and beginning chapter books.

With school out for the summer, Babymouse takes on the beach. Babymouse can’t wait for summer – no homework, no mean classmates, and freedom! Once she finally gets to the beach it’s her time for fun and relaxation. However, she is constantly pestered by her little brother who wants her to play with him. Babymouse wants none of that…until she finally realizes how much he just wants to be with her and she finally caves to the pressure. Turns out she can enjoy summer even with her little brother.

I loved the lightheartedness of this book, as does Babymouse, but found it refreshing that Holm incorporated touches of a deeper theme. As an older sister myself, I could definitely relate to my little brother always wanting to do some sort of activity that was never on my agenda. But he always tugged on my heart strings and I always wound up feeling guilty if I didn’t spend time with him. I hope that as I continue to read the adventures of Babymouse that these deeper, relatable themes continue to emerge.

this book is a comic book.its about a mouse named baby mouse.so she dreams and she is a beach babe and she surfs then makes it to the end of the wave but she crashes.when she wakes up its the end of the school year.her mom said that they are goin on a vacation to the beach and of corse she goes surfing and fails again.when shes disapointed her mom asks her wats rong she said i have no one to play with and her little brother squeak is mad because he feels left out.he writes her a note and she goes and finds him and they spend every minute together.

what i felt in this book was that baby mouse learns that to love her brother because squeak is little and has no one to play with and he counts on his sister so when im mean to my sister i think of this book and think wat will happen to my sister when she gets older.if she gets hurt she wont be very close because i wasnt there for her.i think that was the lesson.

These books fly off the shelves of elementary library media centers whenever they are included in the collection, so I thought I would see what makes Babymouse so popular. Even though this was the third book of this graphic novel series, I was nicely introduced to Babymouse, a fun-loving, imaginative mouse with a little brother named Squeak. This graphic novel by a sister-brother team deftly weaves a complex story line together through engaging illustrations and minimal text per page that has several lessons for readers.

After the last day of school, Babymouse's parents announce their family vacation will be at the beach. While there, Babymouse tries to surf, collect seashells, and snorkel, always brushing off Squeak wanting to play with her. She makes the comment to her mom that there is no one to play with, which hurts Squeak's feelings. Will Babymouse find Squeak after he has run away? Will Babymouse finally enjoy spending time with her little brother?

It's Babymouse's last day of school and her family is going on vacation to the beach! After a looooooonnngggg car ride (on which her brother Squeak gets sick-eww)she finally arrives at the beach! She is having a great time surfing, snorkeling, and catching some rays! Babymouse is enjoys her time at the beach, but tells her parents she doesn't have anyone to play with. When her little brother Squeak hears this he is very hurt because all he wants to do is play with Babymouse. When Babymouse wakes up the next morning, she realizes Squeak has run away! Babymouse feels terrible. Will this ruin Babymouse's fun-filled beach vacation, or will she be able to find her little brother and make it up to him?

Babymouse is a daydreamer with a great sense of humor, and style! Young girls will love reading this series of graphic novels!

Although the book is pink and many feel like it is geared to girls, this graphic novel is unisex. Everyone has experienced some type of a mishap during a family vacation. This book can connect to both male and female, no matter what the outside appearance shows. With reading this book I would want my students to understand that. Plus, this book shows the students that you should not judge a book by its cover. Also, the person who you least expect to be of importance or of value can be the person that makes your day, you just have to give them a chance. For an activity I would have the students draw a picture and write about a time something did not go right on a family vacation. How did it make them feel? Was there something good that came out of the experience?

Babymouse: Beach Babe by Jennifer L. Holm and Matthew Holm is considered a graphic novel because the story is told is pictures and graphics. This book is part of the Babymouse series, and this particular book is about Babymouse daydreaming about the beach. She dreams she is surfing the waves while she is in the shower and she dreams she is swimming as a mermouse while she is at school. After school lets out for the year, her family takes a trip to the beach. At the beach, she goes surfing (but crashes), goes scuba diving, builds a sand castle, and hangs out on the boardwalk. I could use this graphic novel as part of a lesson on story sequencing. I would have the students read the book, then print out clips from the book, cut them out separately, and have the students work in pairs to put the pictures back into the correct sequence.

It's the last day of school, and then Babymouse and her family are headed to the beach on vacation! Once Babymouse tries everything there out once, who can she find to play with?

Babymouse's school has the strangest last day of school ever. Who trusts kids to clean out their lockers after the last day of school is done, and why in the world are they covering new material? (Though that locker cleaning part was classic.) Overall, this is a cute sibling story about Babymouse and her little brother who adores her. At first she ignores him, but then realizes he isn't so bad to have around. There's some epic surfing wipeouts, horrible sunburns, and hazards of traveling with a motion sick sibling. Plenty of good references to 20,000 Leagues under the Sea and classic beach movies in Babymouse's daydreams. As always, 100% entertaining.

No content issues.

I so enjoy this fun, light adventures with Babymouse! She is a perfect Everykid with the same desires and challenges as her readers. She suffers through long car rides, dreams of summer vacation, thrills over beach fun, and fights boredom even in paradise. This outing with our mouse is quite touching as we find Babymouse ignoring or pushing younger brother Squeak away when it's obvious that he worships her and just wants to play and spend time with her. After a dramatic event she realizes how much she treasures her little brother and opens her heart to including him in her fun. A good lesson for kids without being preachy or goody-goody--and as always a fun read. This series is wildly popular and I think it's in part to the frequent adventurous daydreams that Babymouse has (they remind me so much of Calvin and Hobbes!). Readers will wish they had a friend like Babymouse!

Who does not love Babymouse? My class loves Babymouse. Caleb loves Babymouse, I love Babymouse.

This is one of my favorites. I got to read it the other day to Caleb while he was getting a nebulizer treatment. He always picks Babymouse because they are so long... His favorite is Camp Babymouse because he thinks it reflects actual camp and he is studying all the details for this summer when he gets to go!

Anyway, what I love about this one... They go on vacation, and Babymouse is so eager to try everything out, but gets continually disappointed and feels alone. In the meantime, her little brother is constantly asking to tag along. The book resolves itself when Babymouse realizes Squeak is a just-right companion for her on vacation.

This book is a great book for younger girls to realize that these books are not just for boys. By making the book pink, black, and white I believe that this will be an attraction for these young girls. It will help them enjoy reading and help them get started young to enjoy books. To use this book in my classroom, I would divide my students into groups of boys and girls. his would be the book that I would girl the group of girls. I would have them learn what graphic novels. After completing the book, I would have the students write their own graphic novel. They would have to use their prior knowledge to write and illustrate their own graphic novel.

Starting to build up a catalog of recommendations for student teaching in the fall. This was cute. I enjoyed the art style and humor. It’s a great beginner’s graphic novel. I liked that it had a limited color palette. I found it aesthetically pleasing. The frames were easy to follow and the borders help new readers see when the story is straight forward and when Babymouse is daydreaming. Moral of the story overall was cute.

Ah, Babymouse, your beach vacation feels a bit...lonely? Awesome job on the surfing...and even more awesome job on the sistering....

EDIT to add: Second reading, I still like this book a great deal. Babymouse really comes through when it comes to spending time with her brother. I'm happy to see a positive and very real sibling relationship done in a humous and fun way. Still a great book!
