Can an object really be cursed to give someone bad luck? There’s only one way to find out…

When a tattered, old tarot card falls out of Charlotte Torres’s library book, she doesn’t think much of it. It doesn’t even bother her that there’s a message written on the back: “Pass this card along or you’ll be sorry!” But when horrible things start happening—things that seem like bad luck, but frighten Charlotte the most—she begins to believe in the power of the card and its message. She wants to get rid of it, but she doesn’t want to pass it along and doom someone else to its curse. Will she be able to figure out a way to destroy the card for good? Or will the card destroy her life first?

This mystical tale of misfortune is rated a Level 4 on the Creep-o-Meter.

A scary book... a tarot card that brings bad luck... and two girls trying to find a way to get rid of it before things truly go wrong.

I decided it was high time to re-read some of these You're Invited to a Creepover books. I got rid of a few that I wasn't too big of a fan of, but I got plenty of the series left. I thought this one would be a fun first book to re-read as I love a girl who is a reader and who, when she moves, goes to look for the local library first and grabs some books.

We all know about chain letters, but I think you never had something happen to you because you didn't care to pass it on, well this chain tarot card is here to ruin your life, and on top of that there are creepy messages that get send from a 13-numbered phone number that tell you to pass on the card.... or else. The bad luck stuff first started quite tame with shirts going pink or elastics from braces flying... but then things get more and more scary and the girls are frantic to get rid of the card.

We have two characters in this one, Charlotte and Lauren. Charlotte just moved here and is the new girl and Lauren moved last year. These two become fast friends. I really liked both the girls, though I did feel for Charlotte that she had to keep moving because her dad is in the military and there is constant stress about her dad, while he is apparently more repairman than doing action, there is still the fear he may not come home. Poor family.
Lauren has lost her mom years ago and is now living with her very absent-minded professor dad.

I was proud that one of the girls at least didn't want to pass the card, though she was tempted, but the other girl... eh. Sorry, I just found it mean, I could understand that you are scared, but to screw your friend over like that? No, just no.

I loved the plan of the girls and I was rooting for it to work. The ending was very awesome and I am glad that the author went for this one. Sure, maybe another ending would also have been great, but this fitting so well with the book.

All in all, a very spooky story that will have you on the edge of the seat. And be warned, if something calls to you just turn around and run away.

R.L.Stine for girls. A creepy read that deals with growing pains, mean girls, and haunted books. It's as fun as it sounds! The last thing Charlotte expected to find in her beloved library was a cursed item, but once she brings home the mysterious book, and finds an old tarot card, there's no denying that something paranormal is happening. This book was actually a buddy read with my own child who adores this series... I can see why.

The beginning of this book was amazing. It really caught my attention.

Charlotte is a typical teenager who is very curious. I found the tarot card cool and how it brought bad luck to everyone who holds it.

I liked how did they stop it. The ending was another surprise.

I read it during nighttime and I would not recommend it to you.

This one didn't quite live up to the awesomeness of the others. This didn't really have the best plot, and the ending wasn't scary in the least. It was engaging, but ultimately disappointing.

The old expression "If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all" certainly applies here. A spooky little tale that builds in drama as our heroines' mysterious wheel of (mis)fortune turns.

A great thriller for those into libraries, tarot cards and superstition. Just the right amount of spookiness to keep a great pace to the story.
