Great book

Lessons to be learnt throughout the book. I feel the key takeaways apply to any gender and most especially budding entrepreneurs in the digital age.

Watch out world. Patricia Bright is a self made force to be reckoned with. The Youtube star clearly knows her stuff. She laid a lot of her knowledge out on the table for us all but I was still left wanting more. I felt unsatisfied by the information she chose to give us. Like many, I think I was looking for a more reveal of how she found success. I just wished she gave me more... went deep. I was looking for those cheeky comments she so freely gives on her social media platforms: "Nipples to the wind"
anyone? I thought that fire of a personality would shine through in her book as well but she left it all dry cut and that was disappointing because Patricia is one of the biggest, boldest, most fun personalities on Youtube but that didn't resonate in her book. It's still a good read and I'm still a huge fan.

I love Patricia and started watching her youtube channel way before she got married. Naturally, I'm happy for her success and quickly read Heart & Hustle.

This book is a part autobiographical, part self-help. The target audience is young women starting in their careers (not me). I glossed over a lot of advice she cherrypicked from other self-help books and repurposed in her own words. However, I think it's important to see successful people who look like you. I will recommend this book to my younger nieces and cousins. Patricia is a hustler with an inspiring story.

Bonus: She narrates the audiobook!

Heart and hustle is an autobiography, self-help book that tells the story of a famous YouTuber, Patricia Bright. From when she was little, growing up as a teenager to her been a full time grown woman.

Patricia shared her life experience relating to family, growing up in a family that isn't affluent, school, work, career, hobbies, life ups and down and how she was able to conquer them and worked her way to the top, getting to were she is today.

I'm not much of a self-help reader now even though I grew up reading them more than fiction at some stage in life. But this, is a book I would recommend to read/listen to.

A fun read. As a fan of her youtube channel It was nice to hear more about Patricia's life. The tips she gave weren't life changing or anything but were still nice little reminders.

I didn’t read this book with any expectations, however I really wanted to like this book because I enjoy Patricia Bright as a YouTuber. I feel the stage that I’m at in my life, this book just doesn’t not apply. This book is more geared towards younger individuals in their late teens or early 20’s wanting a career in social media or wanting to try out new things/businesses. I found the strategies to be very basic and didn’t learn or take away anything new from this book. The one thing I liked, that she did closer to the end of the book, was share research based facts but these were often skimmed over very quickly. I never would’ve finished this book if I didn’t like her as a social media person.

I love and support everything Patricia does. A true fan. So my review may be biased.

Her content is always uplifting and humbling.

The only thing that holds this book back is that it doesn't let Patricia's personality shine through. Her incredible one liners and pizazz are missing from the pages!

Altogether, a wholesome book.

Loved it!

Whew! Patricia man! She really laid it out in this book! She wrote brief about her life experience, but in her book she put a lot of emphasis on actual tips that we can all take home and apply to ourselves. I’ve been watching her YouTube channel for years now. I’m a huge fan of her channel and I’m proud of her for write her first book! I love how she supported her advices and tips with evidence! Great read! Highly recommend!

If you are a subscriber of Patricia, I recommend this book. For me, she is one of those optimistic, driven women that I like to think about when I need to set myself in motion so it was only natural that I’d read her book. I would say this book is more for her followers or for people who are interested to start a social media business.

While I enjoyed reading it (it’s a perfect holiday read), I can say that two ideas stuck with me:
1. Take emotional distance from your work.
2. Address yourself in 3rd person when you have to give yourself a pep talk.

Absolutely love Patricia bright, really look up to her and think she encapsulates everything a woman should aim to be in this generation so had to give her book ago. Was a really nice listen and would be good to read if you’re someone wanting to build up they’re social media. However the only reason I gave it a 3 is it wasn’t as impactful to me as it’s a lot I’ve heard in other books focusing on self empowerment so wasn’t as eye opening. Was also very interesting hearing more about her journey.

Great for young adults, late teens early twentys. The ones who might want to try their luck in social media, wants tips on networking and job-interviews. Im early 30's have a job/career already + a family, so I felt a bit to old for the tips in the book.

I have been a huge fan of Patricia for years and started watching her on YouTube back in 2011/2012 so of course I eventually purchased this book. Overall a very easy light read, it feels like she's talking right to you. Content wise - nothing I didn't really know before but always encouraging and motivating to have someone tell it to you and remind you of your potential. There was quite a bit of vagueness in my opinion - a lot of DO THIS!!! But also don't if you don't want to! - which makes sense, you can't please everyone and in today's world whether you do or don't say something can be held against you. Did it help me? I suppose a little but more in the light of encouragement and that feeling of "yes I can do this too". Was it life changing? No. Will I be reaching for it regularly? Also probably no, but it's not a book I regret reading.

Final takeaway: If you love Patricia and wanna read an easy (although sometimes all over the place) book for some encouragement, go for it. If you want a book that will really drive you, deeply motivate you and give you the strength you need to pull out from the slums? Maybe not the best choice for you.

I love her and her YouTube channel. She is one of the first YouTubers I started watching and one of the few ones I do still watch. When I saw she published a book, I knew I have to buy it and read it. I didn't even know what the book is about until I started reading, I just knew I had to support her. I loved reading about her life and everything she has been through. I also loved all the advices she gave. As another person said below, the advices she gave were not life changing or mind blowing but they are all definitely ones that we need to remind ourselves every once in a while so we don't forget. For example people don't usually remind you to love yourself and so sometimes you start forgetting to do so. Reading Patricia's book she definitely makes sure you get reminded of that. ❤

I LOVED this book!
Shining Shining 5 stars!

To be honest, I have enjoyed Patricia's youtube & instagram content for a few years now so I hoped I would like it but I didn’t realize I’d love it!

I haven't read self-help in ages & I honestly didn't realize Patricia's book was self-help!
Heart & Hustle is a motivational self-help book to help you strive for your goals & be financially & professionally savy.

Patricia includes anecdotes & autobiographical moments to keep her suggestions within the context of her own experience. As she is in all things she creates, Patricia stays true to herself! She shares her British Nigerian roots & influences on her life.

I listened to the audiobook & enjoyed hearing her share her experiences & advice. I definately recommend this to anyone right now as it will be a bright spot (pun intended).

160/260 pages read as part of the Reading Rush:
-Book in a genre you've always wanted to read more of
-Book you've read completely outside of your house
-Book that takes place on a different continent than where you live

I reallyyyy wanted to love this book! But for several months, I read a few pages here and there, couldn’t really get into it so read books in between…

Only to find out that 2/3’s in is where it starts to getting good! I would recommend reading this book ONLY if you are JUST starting up as a business, or PLANNING to start a business. If that was the case for me the book would be so good! But I’ve been through a lot of this already, I just wanted to find confidence in what I was doing similarly to when I first started my business. This book only talks about that about 150/200 pages in…

So, great book for people only just starting their business. If you have an established business, it’s probs not for you!

There was more heart than hustle in this book. I can admire that her hustle resembles that of the everyday person. She was just doing something that she loved and been to make money from it. Her hustle is a more about her learning from her mistakes.
This is a very easy read with a few takeaways. I would not recommend this book to anyone not because it is that bad there are just better books out there on the same topic. You will not read this book and be motivated to hustle by any means.
Side Note: The English used is fairly neutral but there are some British/UK terminology that may throw you off. This is no disrespect to the author as she is a British.

3.5 ⭐️

Listened to the audiobook.

I’ve been a fan of Patricia since I was a young teen and I am now an adult. I’ve enjoyed watching her growth on social media and reading her book gave a great insight on how she did it. There wasn’t anything revolutionary in this book but there were good life lessons that everyone should know. As someone who struggles with anxiety and negative self talk, I really liked how she focused on teaching you how to have confidence in yourself and how to become your own cheerleader.

One quote that stuck out to me was the proverb she talked about: life and death are in the power of the tongue.

Listening to this book on Audible and really glad to be doing so as my luck with books has been a bit hit and miss recently. I'll update the review once I've finished. I was a little unsure when I was about an hour into the book because I couldn't tell how self indulgent the author was being though she comes out with a lot of good tips.

I actually hadn't come across Patricia Bright previously as I'm more likely to check out the videos of Aaron Doughty, StarGirl and Michael Sealy, a pretty different genre. That said I will be watch the various videos from now on.

The book is for a slightly younger reader and I'm probably old enough to be Patricia's mother and my I would feel so proud if she was my daughter. She does reference her parents in the book who sound like incredible people and although another reviewer mentioned that she would have liked more info about how Patricia became so well known . I think she does share a lot of info here and the reader/listener does get to realise pretty quickly what a grafter Patricia is. When you have an attitude like hers I think you're bound to be successful.

There were aspects of this book I loved, being a long time subscriber of Patricia's I did think her voice was authentic and I did enjoy the other areas of her life she did share in the book. Although I did like the tips she gave they weren't things we haven't heard before but she done it her way which I appreciate. However although I liked the book I feel it is more geared toward the budding social media influencer/entrepreneur and for that reason I did not think it's for everyone.

Every woman, and Blogger I guess, should read Heart & Hustle by the lovely Patricia Bright . It's the type of book that goes straight to the point, gives practical information and doesn't joke around. She is living of her youtube chanel but she had a long road to go before arriving to this elevated stage of her life.
It's also good to read when on a reading slump as it makes you think and gives you ideas on how to tackle various life steps.

As a Patricia Bright fan over 8 years, this book gave me a further insight into her life and how she worked to where she is. The book was a combination of self help and autobiography. If you are someone who wants to start a business or influence lifestyle her advice is to just start and be consistent. It was an easy read and sometimes I could imagine her telling the stories as I read.

This book is so much more than just learning how to “become a YouTuber”. I felt encouraged and uplifted. It gives you tips on how to be kind to yourself and build yourself up. Something that I believe everyone should be trying to do.

I have definitely taken some tips from this book. Thank you Patricia!

Surprisingly practical. Definitely inspirational and motivating. It's short but for what it is I don't see the need for it to be longer. Patricia was very concise with her words and it didn't feel repetitive. It felt very true to who is she is and her brand. A fantastic first book.
