Hearty Plant-Based Indulgences for Every Day of the Week
When Melanie McDonald first became a vegan, she was disappointed in the lack of vibrant, flavorful vegan recipes available―so she created her own. Now, she shares all her favorite homey recipes, ensuring that everyone can enjoy tasty plant-based dishes.
Pump up your mornings with Black Forest Breakfast Crepes or Rustic Skillet Potato and Greens Hash. Gather around the dinner table with family and friends to enjoy favorites like Soul-Warming Stew and Dumplings, Sticky Sweet-and-Sour Tofu and Rich and Saucy Bolognese. And satisfy all those between-meal cravings with sweets and snacks like Bangin’ BBQ Cauliflower Wings and Sky-High Apple Pie.
No matter the meal or occasion, Melanie’s recipes prove that the vegan versions of familiar favorites leave you feeling nourished and satisfied.
I have tried about 85% of the recipes in this lovely book and enjoyed every one! And my kids ate and enjoyed them as well which is always a plus! All the recipes were hearty, flavorful and delicious. I appreciated McDonald's simple ingredients. Most times people say they are hesitant to try a vegan cookbook because of hard to find and sometimes expensive ingredients which I can understand, but for the most part the ingredients in her recipes are things most people who cook regularly should have on hand and if not the ingredients should be at your local grocery store. And the recipes themselves are easy to follow too so bonus! She has included 75 recipes covering breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert/treats. Plus some easy to make yourself staples like vegan butter, nut cheese, gravy, pie crust, bread and ranch dressing. I loved theses added bonuses. So even if you aren't looking to go fully vegan there are some excellent recipes to add into rotation. And check out her ig too @avirtualvegan she has tons of recipes posted there as well. • A Few Of My Favorites In No Particular Order: -Roasted Garlic Alfredo -Cauli Power Burgers -Ooe-Gooey Cinnamon Rolls -Soul Warming Stew And Dumplings -Loaded Zucchini Breakfast Casserole -Bangin Bbq Cauliflower Wings -Best Ever Fluffy Pancakes (I could live of these!) -Crazy Good Carrot Cupcakes -Baked Creamy Coconut Rice Pudding -Quick And Crispy Zuccini Fritters -Legendary Chocolate Chip Cookies -Chocolate Studded Pumpkin Bread • Thank You to the publisher for #gifting me this book. Melanie has phenomenal recipes -- I've tried a dozen or so from this book and have loved every one. Her food is easy to make, creative and best of all, delicious. Both vegan and non-vegan friends have enjoyed meals based on Melanie's recipes, many of which are now part of my regular menu rotation. The hardest part of owning this book is going to be figuring out which recipe to try first! But do yourself a favor and get it ASAP!
My favorite vegan cookbook. Not only are the recipes easy to follow and the ingredient lists are in order of being used, but (most importantly) the recipes are things you actually want to eat! Crepes! Meatballs! Dessert! Nothing crazy or to please a fad. Just delicious food to fill the cockles of your heart.
I've made a few of the recipes from this book so far & am very pleased with the results. Clear instructions & easy to find ingredients not to mention lovely photographs of the recipes.
A great cook book to add to your collection, you won't be disappointed!
Many people will really love this and that makes me so happy, but as someone who doesn't like meat replacements and hasn't suffered a moment of veg regret/panic in nearly 25 years, this was too American and meat-obsessed for me (meat-type-loaf, buffalo-type wings, meat-type pot pies, spaghetti and meat-type balls, etc). And so very many mushrooms...
To the author's credit, quite a few of the desserts sound lovely and are accompanied by appealing photography. There's the usual sweet potato pie and 'cheesecake', but also bakewell tart (yay!) and baked cinnamon donuts.
As a non-vegan who is trying to expand my cooking and diet, this book looked very interesting and easy to use. Unfortunately, there are so many specialty items that you need to buy. It is difficult for me to justify adding these recipes to my current cooking habits.
I will pass this book onto a vegan friend in hopes she enjoys it more :)
This cookbook is filled with gorgeous photos of yummy food! My only complaint is that nothing jumped out at me and begged me to make it. I will definitely try a few of the recipes, but I didn't find myself saying, "Ooooo I want to make that right now!!!" Maybe once I start using it I'll enjoy it more. 🙂
Omg! I spent an hour reading this, this afternoon. Then I just sat for 2 hours and finished it! I needed to drink loads of water today to compensate because I was literally drinking my drool ahah! I read every page and every instruction. I am definitely buying this and trying out each recipe! I cannot wait! What an amazing woman and I loved all of her tips and stories.
