A pajama-wearing Baby Bear eats a delicious stack of pancakes in this sweet picture book from celebrated and award-winning author and illustrator Frank Asch.
What better way for Baby Bear, Momma Bear, and Poppa Bear to spend the day together than wearing their pajamas and eating pancakes? But it’s not just pancakes for breakfast! Once they finish eating, reading, playing board games, and napping, the three pajama-wearing bears decide to go to the park, ride bikes, and have a pancake dinner! The silliness continues when the Bears host a pancake and pajama party for the whole town.
Frank Asch’s newest Baby Bear adventure is sure to delight his legions of devoted fans.

This book is terrific and adorable. It's just a normal day for the bears - but they decide to do it in their pajamas, ride bikes, and eat pancakes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! As a kid, one of my family's favorite books was Milk and Cookies by Frank Asch, so I am always a fan of his other books. I also like how simple they are - just a day in the life.
The Bear family decides to stay in their PJs and have only pancakes on Saturday. They go back to bed and read stories, take napes and play board games. Then they leave the house and go to the park, ride their bikes through town and have lunch at a diner. Everyone they meet likes their idea, and soon there is a huge pancake and pajama party. I'm all for family time, and having relaxing days together, but not going around town with the entire family in their pajamas. Plus Mama Bear is in a long nightgown-riding a bike in that would be difficult. Maybe I'm being sticky, but if you are going to go eat in a restaurant, put on real clothing. Most adults do not need to be seen in the clothing they wear to bed.
My son was fascinated with this book. Perhaps it is because our house rules are that you get dressed *before* breakfast, or his love of pancakes. That it combined his life goals (eat pancakes for every meal, and never get out of your pajamas) made it magical for him. He'd rank this with five stars. I'd rank it with four. So I'm letting him have that extra star. It wouldn't have been my choice as a favorite book, but I love seeing what he loves. He was very sad to see it go back to the library.
A family of bears decide to spend a day in their pajamas and eat pancakes. Soon the whole town gets into the spirit. Story and pictures were ok. It’s simple without many frills which is how I feel most Asch books I’ve read are. I was honestly surprised how recently this was published, it feels like something that would’ve been beloved in the 80s or 90s but is just average now, to me picture books have evolved so much in the past 30 something years.
I'm really, really looking forward to doing Pancakes in Pajamas with my little once she's Baby Bear's age. (Though we'll probably take pajamas off for leaving the house... I don't think people in my city will be quite as understanding as the Bear family's neighbors!)
Sort of a variation on the Three Bears, this dip into Asch’s bears’ adventures is just enjoyable. It’s hard to tell whether it’s because the bears are riding bikes, or are out and about in pajamas, or are taking part in the Pancakes in Pajamas Day. No, it doesn’t matter.
A bear family ends up enjoying their pancakes while wearing their pajamas, and proceeds to eat pancakes in their pajamas for the rest of the day; many people in town decide to join them, and by the end of the day, there is a parade and much pancake eating.
A family of bears makes a fun day of it when they decide to spend the entire day in their pajamas and eat only pancakes. My three-year-old grandson thought it was funny that they went walking in the park and bike riding in their pajamas. Their example influenced the whole town. Fun illustrations for this entertaining story.
