Adam Hargreaves is an English author and illustrator. The son of Roger Hargreaves, he continues his father's popular Mr. Men series of children's books. Hargreaves also served as inspiration for the series. When at the age of six he asked his father "What does a tickle look like?", Roger used that question to create the first book, Mr. Tickle.
Little Miss Hug needs to hug everybody and make them feel good. She even managed to make Mr Grumpy smile :) And blush. And give her an almost a hug back.
"I must say," said Little Miss Hug, "You have a lovely smile."
Awwwwwwwww *heart melts* what a lovely story all about the joys of hugging. In one particularly cute scene, Little Miss Hug hugsMr Grumpy and the outcome...well the outcome may surprise you.
this is a Lovely story of little miss hug who wants to make the world a happier place by giving everyone she meets hugs! She doesn’t realise that a hug is not always what’s needed, it ends happily enough and the illustrations are beautiful!
I can’t believe some old vintage books get censured and banned (when they just show how people used to see the world at that time) but books like this one are still published today. A book that shows children how it’s ok to be touched and hugged against someone’s will.
I understand the message of the book is “a hug makes everyone feels better”, and hugs are helpful, yes, but when both parts agree to it. Not when someone is forced into it.
Now, imagine a child reading this book and then having an adult with bad intention forcing an hug to him. That’s so so wrong.
“Little Miss Hug” - Generously offering hugs to Miss Tiny, Mr Small, Mr Bump, Mr Greedy, at birthdays, even miss bossy. Mr grumpy was a challenge but even he was able to return half a hug! A Mr Grumpy hug. - - -

Little Miss Hug is one of my favourite in the Little Miss series. She's so lovely and sweet. I knew I'd love this new addition to the series. Little Miss Hug loves hugs and hugs everyone. It's a lovely book.
Message du livre : ne pas respecter le consentement est positif car même si la personne a dit non en fait elle peut aimer un contact physique forcé. Dangereux. En plus, le livre n'est même pas si vieux (2014).
The only positive thing about this book was the discussion it provoked with my three year old. I struggled to read the whole book actually but forced myself to so I could explain why I thought it was so problematic to my daughter. Hugging someone, who doesn't want to be hugged, without their permission, and keep on going even when the person is uncomfortable, until eventually they 'blush' and eventually concede. Mmm imagine reinventing this in real life. Goes against everything children are taught about consent and body safety. Not sure I even want to pass this on. Might just go straight in the bin !
A new Little Miss, and all my stars she is cute! Little Miss Hug is one of the cutest little things ever created. She is plushie material, no doubt. This love-and-innocence-flavoured cutie-pie has the super power of hugging, which we all need on any occasion, for any need, once in a while. It can be for anything; it is a powerful medicine, and a comfort for any emotion, as long as the intent is honestly good.
Little Miss Hug might just change Mr. Grumpy himself!
This book is a packaged, yoghurty pink cream ball of adorable sweetness. An unforgettable tiny dessert treat.
I'm just listening to children's stories on YouTube to fill the number of books I have to read or listen to each month this year because I will be gone for a bit and don't wanna skip a month, so I decided to listen to this one. I have never read any books in this series but now that I've heard this one, that might change. I thought it was cute and definitely something I would gift to a child. I recommend it.
So adorable, my heart melted. My youngest daughter received this from Santa at her pre-school, it's the first time I've read her any of these books and she loved them. Having Little Miss Hugs cuddle toy was a great edition to the story. Every time Little Miss Hug hugged someone she hugged the cuddley version...
Everyone loves a hug now and then. Some like it less sometimes but believe it or not, some people just hate human contact. Little Miss Hug was offended that her hugs are not appreciated by Mr. Grumpy and she didn’t understand why. She should just leave him alone but she didn’t. She went to hug him tighter.
And with a literary hug we are done, little miss is complete, the whole original 35 books all read, and what a great ride it has been, and what a nice way to finish with little miss hug. These are not great literature in one sense, in another it is everything you need and want. Thanks Mr Hargreaves for a wonderful creation. Little Miss #35
