Alessandro Ferrari's fun Disney-fied graphic novel adaptations of the original Star Wars trilogy is a perfect introduction for kids who haven't seen the films yet. My daughter saw "Empire Strikes Back", but she was six at the time, and it was at a drive-in theater late show, so she was practically asleep. She really enjoyed this "Return of the Jedi" adaptation, especially the Ewoks (of course), but even the Rancor beast was kind of adorable. Apparently, Ferrari has adapted all of the prequels and the more recent J.J. Abrams-produced films, so we have lots more to enjoy...
The movies have a lot of stuff going on and Ferrari does a good job summarizing the content and still make sense. Most readers would have watched the movies first, anyway, so you will probably be filling the blanks. My daughter liked. The art is simple, children-oriented.
