Fans of the My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish series will enjoy this spin-off just as much, and it just may garner even more fans for these books. After all, while goldfish are pretty, kitties, especially those with vampiric tendencies, are much cuter. In this installment, Mark and his best friend Sanj are on their way to an Evil Scientist Summer Camp although their parents think it's an Eco-Scientist Camp. While no pets are allowed, there's no stopping Fang, Mark's special cat, and Mark and Sanj have plans to dominate the camp with their own evil deeds while learning even more. But Sanj ends up partnering with Dustin, a boy with perfect hair, leaving Mark to his own devices. Because he has no other choice, he has to work with Geeky Girl, a character introduced in an earlier book. Between Mark's efforts to look tougher than he is, Fang's refusal to stay hidden, and all manner of issues, Mark struggles. At some points, it seems as though his fellow campers are impressed with him, but then when the truth about the snake he claims to have killed comes out, he is doomed. Had it not been for a certain bear and Fang's loyalty to Mark, things could have turned out very differently. There is plenty to enjoy in this story, and it is nice to see that there is a kinder, gentler side to Mark, especially in his interactions with his evil cat and his partner. The illustrations provide great support to the story, and I was left looking for more. After all, no one wants to be betrayed by a partner and best friend, and I'm sure there will be drama between Mark and Sanj in the future. If you cannot trust your evil buddy, who can you trust?

I thought this book was a creative, fun read. I think it's a great read for many ages. Its a imaginative short story about Mark and his best friend Sanj going to summer camp for evil scientists. When things don't go as expected for the two, they have to adapt to their new situation. Sanj chooses someone else to be his partner and Mark gets stuck with Geeky Girl. He doesn't like being paired with her, as they don't have a great past. Mark is determined not to let this ruin his summer. Nothing goes as expected, especially with his kitten Fang. Find out how his summer ends up and if he can come up with an evil trap in order to win the title of Evil Emperor of the week.

Not wanting to give anything else away... I love the imagery of the characters throughout. It would help keep younger readers interested and give them a picture of what they are reading.

Having the the main character write in notebook helps make this book more interesting. I also think it might inspire readers to write in a notebook or journal of their own. It separates itself from other books in this age range. Not only might this help peak interest in reading but possibly in writing as well.

I think having an interest in reading happens when you are younger. I feel like creative books, like this, help to develop that love for reading. I look forward to reading more from the series and am always happy to see books that can spark interest in reading.

A fangtastically good read. Perfect for fans of My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish.

This spin-off series follows Mark, Tom's evil older brother, as he sets off for Evil Scientist Summer Camp (under the cover of Eco-Scientist Camp) with his evil vampire kitten, Fang. This book can be read without having read the original series, but the My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish is also pretty awesome and has the same style of humor, so I'd recommend reading it as well.

Friendships are tested, new alliances are formed, and the summer takes an unexpected turn in this epic adventure of evil proportions. A fun and engaging read complete with mind-control devises, evil camp challenges, sneaky trickery, and run-ins with a few dangerous (and stinky!) animals.

Loved getting the same My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish style with a whole new adventure, complete with new characters. It was also interesting to see Mark's side of things, especially given his evil big brother status in the original series.

A fun read that pulls the reader and makes them want to keep reading to find out what happens next. Excited to see how the summer progresses and how Mark and Fang fare at Evil Scientist Camp.

Mark soon realizes that best laid plans often go awry and that new friends can be found in the strangest of evil places . An extremely funny middle grade story that will draw readers in with its hilarious cover and ridiculous plot.

Mark and his friend Sanj go to Evil Scientist summer camp. While there a falling out occurs so they get different partners when it comes to making an Evil trap. There is also a rule that no pets are allowed but some bring their pets and have to hide them and worry about being called out for the pets.

This is a good set-up for the series. I liked Mark eventually. He drove me a little crazy at the beginning. I also like Geek Girl and Igor who turn out to be good friends to Mark. The camp counselors are jerks in my opinion. It is a fun read and the kids hide pets and build traps and generally get into trouble. I look forward to the next book.

This is a FUN middle grade book. I love how all the "evil scientists" learn a lesson in loyalty, kindness, and acceptance.
Mark thought he had to be mean to Geeky Girl and impress his tentmates to gain friends in summer camp after his supposed best friend Sanj "seized an opportunity" to work with someone else...while stealing all their evil plans for himself! He finally and exaggerates a bit to make himself look better (totally acceptable levels of evil, right?), but it doesn't take long before everyone know what a faker he is. How will he ever avoid the canoe of shame???

I was wondering how O'Hara was going to make a spinoff starring the main antagonist of the original series work, but she succeeds wonderfully. I think what does it is that while Mark is an evil-genius-in-training, he's never mean. He may be a little inconsiderate, but I think that's normal in a young kid. He also clearly loves Fang and Fang loves him, which goes a long way in making this book work. Also, a cat and a bird do a fist bump. What more do you want? 4 stars!

I read this book with my 8 year old son. We haven't read any other books in this series, but it was a fun story. The kitten, Fang, was super cute. And while I didn't much like the protagonist, Geeky Girl was cool.

Mark goes to a summer camp with his best friend, Sanj. But his pet, Fang,has being messing with his summer! And Mark doesn't expect Sanj to pair with someone else, or himself paired with a girl, and his pet to be a helpful minion?!! Mark has to get a good summer, right? Then Mark gets a Evil Empire of the Week trophy because he saves Fang and the other minion animals and captures a bear ! What I think about this book is exiting. My favorite part of the book is when the bear came and fell into their trap, which was the cover-hole-with sticks trick.
