Yuki poznaje kolejne tajemnice szkoły i samego Kaname.
Matsuri Hino was born on January 24 in Hokkaido. She was a bookshop keeper who one day decided to become a manga artist, and all of nine months later, in 1995, she published her first manga title, Kono Yume ga Sametara (When This Dream Is Over), in Japan's LaLa DX magazine.
This was great! It's reminding me why I fell in love with the anime so much. There is so much tension between the characters due to their complex emotions. I love that Kaname and Zero have a complicated relationship because AND despite of Yuuki. Their backgrounds are so strong, and that impacts how they interact with each other.
Yuuki is stuck in the middle, but not because of some crush, but because they're both the closest thing to family that she's ever known. Kaname is her first memory, the one who saved her life years ago and found her a home, the one who taught her things and helped her relearn the world. Zero is the one who came to her broken, the one she helped pick up the pieces in the wake of a tragedy, the one that had nothing to hold on to, but his pain and her kindness.
If you're gonna do a love triangle, DO IT LIKE THIS. One where everyone matters, one where each character is layered, and make it harder for the reader to choose. Kaname and Zero are complicated people on their own, they have a lot of pain and weight in their lives, and I think Yuuki is a light for both of them. They also have lots of difficult feelings towards one another, which shows, but they don't go on fighting to win the girl or some other petty thing. They know very well that hurting each other would hurt her, and she's is the closest thing they have to family as well.
ugh I love everyone here and I'm so happy to be with these characters again.
I don’t remember being confused when I was watching the anime, but I’ve been super confused while reading this series. I think the added color and the different voices helped me remember who’s who in the anime, but all the vampires sort of blend together in the manga. I’m hoping it’ll get easier to keep track of all the vampires as I get farther in the series.
The main reason why I like this volume (and this series) so much is Zero. He’s such an interesting character and I was always rooting for him to end up with Yuki. It’s fun to read this series and remember why I fell in love with Zero when I watched the anime.
Also, part of me is dreading getting farther into the series because of the thing. This series is really good except for that. :/
I like the intrigue that's being built. I'm very invested in the Yuki - Kaname storyline. Zero has gained some depth since the first volume. I'm definitely interested in seeing what happens next. Yuki is starting to show a few vague remnants of a stronger personality. It's looking like things will be getting better from here if they continue progressing the way that it's been going. I'm definitely hooked!
Wow. Another great installment. Again brillant story and artwork. I just loved the part where Yuki goes to Zero and says "There is only one thing I can do for you and I've finally realised what it is" and lets Zero drink her blood. I was like awwwwwwww. The first book I loved both Kaname and Zero equally but this book was all about Zero for me. Although when Kaname says "Id do not want to lose her" he made swoon. I am a romantic fool. Can't wait to read the next one.

Vampire Knight 2 was just as great as the first installment. I continue to be amazed with the artwork and the detailed story that is masterfully depicted with such few words and intricate drawings.
In this installment, Zero continues to struggle with his change to vampire and Yuki stands by him regardless of the danger it poses for her. We learn about the vampire hierarchy and meet the newest addition to the series Toga Yagari, Zero’s master who is also a vampire hunter.
I enjoyed the small snippets of comedy Matsuri Hino infused in the storyline, and I must admit... I'm still Team Zero. :) Great sequel that makes me eager to start VK3. Love it!
I read this volume so fast! I find manga goes by really quickly and I am enjoying this story. I will say what I said in my review of volume 1 though-I don't get very attached or invested in manga/graphic novels, and I think i'd enjoy the anime more than this. I didn't feel that much happened in this volume and the vampire hunter stuff passed by way too quickly. I liked seeing more of Zero and how complex he is, I'm definitely favouring him more right now because we see more of his story than of Kaname's.
Usually, I have a tough time reviewing manga because the stories are pretty consistent throughout their runs and sometimes it is hard to review a single volume without at least dredging up the storylines from the last volume. But, review I shall since I have so much to say about the second volume of Matsuri Hino’s popular series, “Vampire Knight!”
In this volume, Yuki Cross, one of the guardians of Cross Academy, realizes that her partner, Zero Kiryu is having trouble coping with being a vampire after a terrible incident where a vampire killed his family years ago. Not only that, but when Yuki goes outside of school grounds one night, she is suddenly attacked by a vampire and since she injured herself early on, she could not defend herself against the vampire! However, two students from the Night Class (who are also vampires) ended up saving Yuki from the attack. When Yuki asks the two night class students (who turns out to be Takuma Ichijo and Senri Shiki) why they rescued her, they ended up telling her that once she comes to the Moon Dormitory at midnight, all will be explained.
Now, it has been awhile since I had read the first volume of Matsuri Hino’s “Vampire Knight” series and my memory is a bit rusty about what this series is all about. So, let me just recap a bit about what the overall gist of the series is:
*Cross Academy is a school that is attended by two groups of students. One group of students is called the Day Class where normal human beings attend during the day and the other group of students is called the Night Class, where only the vampire students attend.
*Basically, the goal of Cross Academy is to have humans and vampires live together in peace and harmony.
*Yuki Cross and Zero Kiryu are the guardians of Cross Academy as they make sure that the Day Class students do not associate with the Night Class in order to protect them from the vampires.
Now that I recapped the idea about this series, I now would like to give out my opinion on this volume! Matsuri Hino has done a brilliant job at writing and illustrating this novel as the characters are all extremely memorable and the artwork is gorgeous to look at. I loved the way that Matsuri Hino really portrayed both Yuki Cross and Zero Kiryu as they truly stood out so much in this novel. It was really intense in seeing Zero Kiryu coming to terms with being a vampire and how he is constantly suffering throughout this volume because he does not want to give in to the allure of sucking blood from human beings. Yuki Cross was a truly amazing character in this volume as she was the one who tried to help Zero Kiryu through his ordeal and I loved the fact that Yuki is so kind towards Zero, despite knowing that he is a vampire. I also loved the humor in this novel and despite the fact that this series is about VAMPIRES; there are many hilarious moments between the characters especially during the scene where Yuki and Zero go shopping! Matsuri Hino’s artwork is truly gorgeous to look at as the characters’ hairstyles are creative and just looks so smooth. I also loved the way that Matsuri Hino put some shadowing on some panels where the characters have intense looks on their faces as it really brings in a somber mood to the scene.
There are some bloody scenes in this novel, especially with some of the vampire characters sucking blood out of some miscellaneous characters and that can be a bit disturbing to anyone who does not like seeing blood in a manga. Also, this was something that bothered me a bit personally, but the fact that Zero Kiryu spends almost the majority of the volume brooding about being a vampire and trying to resist his urges of draining blood from humans got a bit tiresome for me. I understand that what we are seeing is Zero struggling with his inner demons, but I would like to see Zero actually trying to overcome this ordeal and try to move on with his life despite being a vampire.
Overall, “Vampire Knight: Volume Two” is a great volume for anyone who is a huge fan of Matsuri Hino’s “Vampire Knight” series and is definitely worth checking out!
Since I have the first fifteen volumes of this series, I might as well binge one a day until I've finished what I have! Then I'll have to hunt down the remaining once all of this insanity is over...
But until then, it's Vampire Knight season!
This time around: A sexy vampire hunter guy with an eye patch comes around and he knows Zero. Zero goes into hiding, so of course Yuki has to go find him because she adores him. And she does something so wildly against the rules...
Also, Kaname is hanging about with the night class and they're all up to their old hijinks.
Review: I actually am really enjoying this series again, just like I did when I initially read it almost a decade ago. The love triangle here is a lot more dynamic than the typical "I love him, but I love you too" trope that goes on in YA a lot. The characters seem very real and deal with issues in an almost realistic way (I mean, they're vampires so you know... as realistic as it gets). Essentially, these guys are emotional beings and deal with things the way people actually would. Just not temper tantrums, rants and smooches.
The artwork is also ridiculously stunning. Half the time I forget to read because I'm admiring how beautiful the pictures are. Judge me, okay? I like pretty things.
My only con for this book is that it didn't feel like much happened within the five chapters. I'm sure this is only ramping up to the good stuff (and I've got thirteen more volumes so it's not like I won't be able to read it) but it was a bit of a let down after the first volume. I want action and drama, and I want it now!
Overall, I enjoyed this. I'm sure I will continue to enjoy my little addiction for the next little while. If you want some manga in your life packed full of fantasy, romance and new adult blood and tension, grab this series!
I love Manga – it’s special and different when compared to American comics/stories. Manga borders on the silly while having serious moments. This one is no exception. I loved it.
Yuki is the adopted daughter of the headmaster of a special boarding school. The day classes are fairly normal but at night a different set of students come to learn and they are vampires.
Yuki works as the special guardian with Zero. Their job is to keep the vampires a secret and prevent them from harming the human students. Both Yuki and Zero have been victims of vampires in the past which led them to the academy. Yuki has no memory of her life before vampire Kaname saved her from another vampire.
As is common in Manga there is a love triangle between Yuki, Zero and Kaname. I get the feeling that she loves Zero more but we’ll see.
If you love silly romance or anything vampire – I recommend this series. I’ve read through volume 3 and I hate having to wait to get my hands on future volumes.
Matsuri Hino also wrote Captive Hearts – a super silly comedy about a man who is cursed to fall in love with a particular girl.
She has a great style and I love her inserts about her life as she writes these stories.
I like the increasing mystery and chaos of action.
I love the increasing action as well in the love triangle. Although I don't quite feel like I know Kaname enough yet. I so far love Zero and Yuki together. Something about Zero is appealing to me more than Kaname right now. However knowing me and how I am with love triangles that I get heavily invested in, I'll soon become conflicted.
A few times through reading this I got confused as to who was speaking but that happens to me sometimes when reading manga xD
I liked the birthday party that Zero and Yuki attended I thought that part was quite funny. I'm still learning some of the names of all these characters!
Yuki's supposed to be cool right? I mean, she's leaping off buildings and standing up to vampires on school grounds but then when she's actually confronted it's up to Kaname or Zero to save her. I hope that Hino decides where she'd like her heroine to fall before too long. It's hard to like a character that comes across so helpless when she's not supposed to be.
There's a couple of scenes in this one that were a little... well, creepy. Kaname's possession of Yuki when she and Zero visit the Moon Dormitory and the scene between Zero and Yuki where she offers to help him. Both illustrate the relationship that Yuki has with these two characters and both show what she is willing to give of herself.
This book is more about the history behind Zero and his enormous hatred of vampires. There is a flashback of what happened four years ago when he was sent to live with the headmaster and Yuki after the death of his family, and this volume also reveals the secret he has kept from Yuki throughout the years regarding his humanity.
The author has admitted this volume is more about Zero than Yuki, who is supposedly the main star of this series, and that she plans to amend it in the next book. I honestly don’t mind bringing the enigmatic Zero into the limelight since a lot from this book has cleared up why he and the other characters behave in a certain manner, especially with the inclusion of several “special chapters” that serve as significant side stories.
Awesome story. Really enjoyed this manga. Plot is great and characters are awesome. Liked Yuki, Zero, and Kaname. Think starting to get the hang of manga.
Watched a few of the animated episodes on Netflix. Thought was okay. What did you think of it?
Yuuki or yuki whatever her name was, she knows zero is vampire from volume 1. I feel like the story was falling apart, then come out zero's sensei - the sus guy, it's like one time help mc girl n one time he help kaname to realize that mc girl is hiding something from him plus mc girl let zero drink her blood in bathroom even though zero try to avoid her. The zero's sensei as substitute teacher in night class plus he also vampire hunter.

The Day Class is unaware of Zero’s secret—he is a vampire, and has been turning more and more so over the past four years. If they knew the truth, would they be so quick to embrace him as the rising star of their class? And how will the knowledge of what he is becoming affect his relationship with Yuki?
Yuki and Zero get an unexpected privilege—they get to run into town on an errand for the headmaster. Normally, leaving school grounds is rather restricted. Yuki is determined to have fun, even if Zero seems determined to be a killjoy. She wants them to crowd as much fun as they can into this day. He’s concerned about returning by sunset, but she reminds him that the Night Class is off so they won’t be coming out. No harm in living a little, right? They stop to eat at a café, but when one of the girls who works there mistakes Zero for a member of the Night Class, he becomes agitated, knowing that he smells like them now. He runs off, and Yuki must find him. Only in her search for him, she is found instead—by a vampire!
Headmaster Cross does his best to make mealtime for Yuki and Zero as normal as possible, but his idea of dishes is a bit odd. And bringing up the blood tablets that Zero needs to survive does not enhance that boy’s mood any. Ichijo and Shiki of the Night Class invite them to come to the Moon Dorm after midnight for answers to their questions, and Yuki is determined to go, although not so sure Zero should, not in his present state of mind, when it seems as though he is dying to shoot someone. There she learns about the different classes of vampires – from the level A purebloods to the Level E, who are even below the former humans. E stands for End—former humans eventually fall into this category, and into insanity and thus reach their end, end standing for destruction. Something Zero undoubtedly knows, coming from a vampire hunting family. Kaname welcomes them, and insists that Yuki sit beside him. She resists, but not for long, being irresistibly drawn to him. With his touch, he heals her wounds.
When blood is deliberately let at the party, Zero flees in disgust, with Yuki right behind him, concerned about him. Yuki discovers the truth about Zero and blood tablets, and he is about to take blood from her instead when suddenly he finds himself at the wrong end of a gun being wielded by a vampire hunter who is none other than his former master! His name is Toga Yagari, and he is also an acquaintance of Headmaster Cross, whom he considers to be a twit. He sends Yuki to bed while he debates with himself on whether or not to kill Zero or to let him live.
The next day, Zero isn’t in school and the vampire hunter is now lecturing on Ethics to the Night Class, in a curious turn of events. He reveals to Yuki where Zero is and she goes to him—to finish what was previously interrupted.
Bonus stories include Sometimes There are Lazy Days Too, in which Yuki and Zero are forced to take a supplementary class, and the teacher refuses to let them leave until they’re done—even if it is sundown and time for them to take up their disciplinary committee duties! In I Must Have Been Born Under the Victim of Circumstances Star, we learn how Idol and Wild got their nicknames. And in Vampires Covered in Blood are Prohibited From Entering this Page, we get a brief glimpse into the past which will be explained in the future.
Of course Yuki isn't going to give up on Zero! Her penchant for self-sacrifice, and his for self-loathing, are a perfect match. And also a rather unhealthy one. Besides which, Yuki's promised to stick with her adoptive sibling until the end, and will part with him only if called on to kill his berserker "E-type" form by her own hand.
Zero's vampire hunting mentor from his childhood in the Kiryu family arrives to swagger and to threaten vampires--including his former protegee--with his gun. Unaccountably, he ends up teaching the night class in ethics for maybe one day, and then wanders off again. He seems to exist in the story to torture Zero. But really, Zero is doing a great job on his own and needs no assistance with that.
As sardonic as this review is turning out, I am enjoying this series. The drama is fun (if rather nonsensical), and the art is great, especially the free-standing pieces like the splash pages. I wouldn't mind having an art book of those.
Irgendwie cute. Freu mich aufs Weiterlesen!
I think by now I should pick a team? but I'm conflicted between Zero and Kaname, but also I'm loving all the twists and the introduction of more characters and all the complications that could happen. This manga is so fast paced, and a lot of recent vampire stuff seem to have a lot of recurring ideas, especially when it's a romance.
