At least that’s what Miss Hazel Hughes thinks. As a self-appointed Mountie matchmaker, she knows she’s found the right woman for one very hungry man when she meets professional chef Tilly Conway. Suffering from the fallout of a scandal that wasn’t her fault, Tilly finds herself jobless, homeless and…hopeless. When Miss Hazel offers her a chance to start a new life in British Columbia as a mail-order bride, Tilly lets fate decide her future.
Nolan Wheeler has never met a meal he didn’t like. Well, didn’t *eat* anyway. Naturally, he hopes his bride can do more than boil water, but he wants so much more in a wife than the ability to cook. He wants a partner to join him on adventures, laugh at his dumb jokes and, most importantly, want lots and lots of babies.
As Nolan and Tilly grow closer, she can’t help thinking her noble Mountie deserves so much better than a wife with a scandalous past. When she finally musters the courage to share her painful story, his reaction leaves her more uncertain than ever. Will Nolan be able to see beyond her history or is Tilly doomed to start her life over…again?
Mail Order Mounties is a multi-author series set in Canada during the early 1900s. Join authors Kirsten Osbourne, Kay P. Dawson, Cassie Hayes and Amelia Adams as they bring you stories of the Royal Northwest Mounted Police and the mail-order brides who love them.
Cassie Hayes grew up pretending she was Laura Ingalls (before that pesky Almonzo arrived on the scene) in the middle of Oregon farm country. She lives with her husband and cat on the Pacific Ocean and loves to hear from her readers.
Tilly has been let go after a misunderstand from her chef job. She is new to Miss Hazel’s church and the last of the first round of girls to marry one of the Mounties. But can Tilly go through with it? She is sacred of everyone finding out what really happened.
Nolan has a huge stomach and is looking forward to Tilly coming as he has heard she is a great cook.
She goes with Nolan to help some Chinese prisoners and they work through their love as she explains what happened in her past.
These characters were great to read and another great book in the series.
This was free on Amazon and surprised me by it's lack of grammatical errors. I'm giving this 3/5 stars because it talks more about food than sex--don't get me wrong, that's why it earned the 3 stars that I'm giving it. One star is taken away because we were never definitively told if her apple pie was any good. One star is taken away for introducing me to a new racial slur.

It is no secret that I enjoy Hayes’s books. Whilst I have only read a small number of them, each one of them have been enjoyable and I loved that they are on more sweeter side of things. So when she announced her latest novel A Bride for Nolan , I was excited to see her return to historical romance with this multi author series. I love the concept and I loved that Hayes was able to leave her little stamp on this town and the characters. I t was different seeing something set in Canada but it still has the same old charm that you love from Mail Order stories. Tilly was a spite fire and I love how she didn’t sit back and took charge. She was’t going to let this opportunity by pass her and Nolan was perfect for her. I loved how they didn’t rush into things and instead let things happened naturally. Instead let us into their daily lives and facing difficulties head on. I love how adventurous Tilly was and allowed us to see things from a women’s perspective of the Royal Mounties. Nolan sure didn’t know what he was store for by getting Tilly for a bride. Hayes really embraced the strength of characters and I loved how they become each other helpmates and really took things head on. It delivered an entertaining story and was hard not to put down . Another great romance from Hayes that you don’t want to miss
This was a really quick read that actually finished around the 74% mark on my Kindle, with an excerpt from the next book included. I haven't read any other books in the series but the characters from the other instalments popped up here and there as most of the women seemed to meet up with their future husbands together. This was a pretty mild read with the writing style sticking to the theme of a sweet historical without a lot of steam. The dialogue wasn't overly lengthy or detailed and the narration matched suit so while there weren't errors or anything of the sort, there also wasn't a whole lot going on. The book can be read as a standalone in the series but I wasn't a big fan of the other characters, whose timelines seem to be around the same as this book, plunked here and there without a lot of extra detail given. And to be honest, considering the book was so short, this made some of the other characters' appearances come across as a bit random.
After being sexually harassed by her employer and then fired by his wife, Tillie is blacklisted and can't get a job as a chef, for which she is highly qualified, anywhere. When a chance encounter with Miss Hazel means a second chance for Tillie as a mail order bride to a Canadian Mountie, she packs up and moves to the small town of Squirrel Ridge along with other brides-to-be that have the same destiny. Tillie is immediately smitten with Nolan and he with her, especially since he's known for his voracious appetite and she's an excellent cook, but her issues with her previous employer and not knowing if Nolan only likes her because of her cooking ability made it hard for her to feel secure. To be honest, it made it hard for me to read about it, too, since I found it ridiculous that of all the things for Tillie to be worried about moving to a new town and getting hitched to an unknown man, she's nervous that he only wants her for her mad cooking skillz. Righto.
The book then follows their developing relationship and Nolan's job that could send him around the country to bring law to the local folk. There's a potentially violent fugitive on the run and a boatload of Chinese immigrants run ashore in a time where they weren't always welcomed by locals. A lot of focus was placed on how good, kind and wholesome Tillie and Nolan were with enough sweetness that would have rivalled one of the former's apple pies. There are only chaste kisses in this book so if you're looking for something with a bit more romance and steam, this book probably crosses the line into cheese town rather than fan yourself romance.
If you like a clean, sweet and quick read you should enjoy this. I found it a bit too short, the writing too mild and the details given in the book not really where I wanted them, but it was an okay way to wind down.
The stories are the creation of talented multi-authors and each focus on Miss Hazel Hughes, a self-appointed matchmaker and the mail-order brides she locates for single members of the Royal Northwest Mounted Police. Each story in this series will read as a standalone.
Chef Tilly Conway finds herself without a job, and no one will hire her after her employer’s wife fired her for her husband’s lecherous attack. While she wasn’t physically molested, she is now blackballed because of their social standing, and him a member of Parliament. Hazel will approach her about become a mail order bride for Nolan Wheeler, an easy going man with a voracious appetite for food.
Nolan Wheeler places his trust in Hazel to find him the perfect wife, and he sure hopes she can cook without burning water. He is excited about having someone to laugh and enjoy life wife, and he hopes to have a large family someday.
“If anything, the woman had done Tilly a favor by blackballing her. Thanks to her former employer’s bad behavior, Tilly had done something she would never have imagined—signing on as a mail-order bride and meeting the love of her life."
The plot will have Tilly and Nolan paired to marry, and when they finally meet, it is love at first sight. While they feel that spark, they marry but agree to court and get to know each other until Tilly is comfortable. Together they learn that they are more than just husband and wife, they are friends, partners and have the same temperament and compassion for humanity.
The story is a clean historical, with strong moral values. How will Nolan feel about Tilly when he learns of her past, will he be upset and want to end things? “He doesn’t love you for your food. He loves you for you.”
Disclosure: I received an e-copy of this book and voluntarily have read and reviewed. All thoughts, opinions, and ratings are my own.
Bride for Nolan is a remarkable love story. Tilly was determined to become a professional chef. Unfortunately, she did not expect a prominent gentleman to take advantage of the situation in his drunken state. Left with her reputation in ruins by lies spread by the prominent gentleman’s wife, Tilly takes on the challenge of becoming a mail-order bride. Fortunately for her, her soon-to-be husband loves food. Tilly learns to love and trust a man while opening her heart to new beginnings. Even though Tilly and Nolan get together in the beginning of the book, it is not until the end that they understand and realize the love that they have for each other.
Bride for Nolan is a well-written and unique story. The story line is fresh and moves along at a steady pace while being engaging, appealing and attention grabbing. This story hooked me from the very start and I could not put it down. The characters are easy to connect with and well developed. Cassie Hayes knows how to create a story with enough romance and action to keep the reader entertained and fascinated. This is another brilliant book from a remarkably talented author.
I know that when I pick up one of Cassie Hayes’ books that I will not be disappointed. Even though this is part of a series, each book can be read as a stand-alone. I can’t wait to read more in this series. If you are looking for a top-notch romance then I recommend any book from Cassie Hayes. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a heartwarming and sweet romance with the happy-ending we come to expect.
Nolan Wheeler and Tilly Conway. They seem to be a match made in Heaven! Nolan is a Royal Canadian Mountie with a huge love of eating. Always seems to be hungry. Miss Hazel Hughes has found a perfect match for him! Tilly is a professional chef. Tilly needs to move on and Nolan wants a wife. The characters are well developed and their personalities blend together perfectly. Nolan is first captured by Tilly's heart and compassion. Her cooking quickly endears her to his heart as well. She is a take charge woman and he loves that about her. Her willingness to dive in and help him with his work shows just how strong she is. I love Cassie Hayes' writing style.. She is an exemplary Author that can take you right into a story and you won't want to put the book down until you are finished! You will not be disappointed reading this book. This book is part of a series written by 4 authors and can be read as a stand alone book. The series is based in Canada and is about the lives of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
This is a good book to read if you're looking for something quick and predictable. This storyline has been exhausted about a hundred different ways, so unless you're looking for a couple of unique names and a different setting, there's nothing new to be found in this book.
It was incredibly repetitive for being such a quick read. I think it's said about 7 times that she's a mail-order bride who had no other choice because of an unspeakable employer. The mass repetition was annoying and stank of lazy writing. The relationship between the leads didn't really seem to be based off of anything substantial. I'm still not sure why they were so hot for each other.
The characters were a basic cardboard cutout of early 20th century characters that have been previously written about. Quite frankly, you could take this book, change the names and settings and it would be any other mail-order bride story.
I gave it two stars because even though it was predictable, it wasn't boring.
Tilly was working for a member of Parliment as a cook. He walked into the kitchen and tried to molest her when his wife walked in. She fired Tilly on the spot exacerbate thought Tilly instigated th r advances. Tilley couldn't find another job in town and when approached by Hazel, a matchmaker, she agreed to become a mail order bride. She met Nolan, a Mounties, and they were married. Tilley was not one to stay home so when he had to leave on assignment she went with him, against his better judgement. She told him what had hap poo need at her previous job and then she began to think he didn't want her anymore as his wife. Thinks in the town where his job has taken him bring about several problems, in c lauding Tilly almost getting killed. I won't tel you how thousands, read it, you'll enjoy it.
I wasn't expecting much, but this was SO CUTE! The writing was well-done, and the story was exactly what was promised. I thought it might stray into not-clean-romance territory, but it stayed within its bounds which pleased me. Tilly and Nolan were great characters, loving and with funny little quirks. I did feel, however, that they "fell in love" far too quickly. Yes, he might be devastatingly handsome, but that doesn't mean you'd fall head over heels in love. Or, at least, you shouldn't. The plot was good, and Tilly's secret made it intriguing to see her working through it. Her reaction to telling Nolan wasn't great (it felt melodramatic), but it was cute in the end. Overall, it was a cute story that would make an excellent Hallmark series.
I loved Tilly and Nolan's story. Ms. Hayes has an excellent storytelling ability and this one isn't any different.
Neither person was sure what they were getting but were willing to give the marriage a shot. Nolan loves to eat and Tilly loves to cook so you would think it was a match made in heaven from the start. It took some trust on both sides.
I loved seeing their relationship develop over the story. Tilly has such a caring nature and it fit with Nolan's take charge nature. She was able to fulfill her dreams of. Ring a chef in a different way. Monty made his appearance to help out.
I received a copy of this book in exchange of an review. All opinions are my own.

I loved this book. Tilly had an unfortunate reputation thanks to her former employer. I loved her from the start. I love how God put her in the right place in the right time to be selected as a mail order bride for Nolan. Miss Hazel sure knew what she was doing when she put the two of them together. Sweet story line, well written, real feeling characters. This was the first book I have read by this author - and I will be going back and looking at her other books. This series is off to a great start. I can't wait to read more RNWMP.
I was provided a copy of this book by the author --- all opinions are my own.
This was such a sweet, fun and quick read. Nolan is a Mountie looking for a wife. Tilly is involved in a scandal and can't get work anywhere. With nowhere left to turn she agrees to become a mail order bride. With her being a chef it seems she's been matched perfectly with a man that has a voracious appetite. But she wants to be loved for more than her cooking. One look at her groom and she's awe struck. Ever has she seem a man so handsome. And the thought is mutual. But will Tilly's secret eventually drive them apart?? Or will a dangerous man end their marriage before they have even began?,
Loved Tilly and Nolan's story. This was such a sweet story. Similar to a mail order bride book but not the same. Hazel is bringing the ladies to the men and being matchmaker, she does a good job of it too. This is a series set in Canada, this is the first one of the series I have read, I definitely need to read more. There is others before this one but don't have to be read in order. This is also the first book by Cassie I have read and absolutely love her writing. I was given an opportunity to read an advanced copy of the book. Enjoyed it very much.
Bride for Nolan is a sweet historical romance that tells the love story of Tilly and Nolan. Tilly is a professional chef and Nolan is a Mountie. I give this book 5 stars because the lead characters are good people who want to do good in the world for their fellow mankind. Tilly had some issues in her past to overcome but love between her and Nolan was able to overcome. The author is talented at making the reader feel good. My takeaway from this book is people sometimes fault themselves when wronged by others.
Bride for Nolan by Cassie Hayes is another wonderful book in the Mail Order Mounties series. It is such a good book! I loved it & thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Nolan loves to eat & can never get enough food. Tilly is a trained chef, who's food is delicious. Hazel was right, Tilly & Nolan are a perfect match. It is a special story love. And what book would not complete without Monty. A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!!!
Mail Order Mounties series book 3. Nolan is a member of the Royal Northwest Mounted Police of British Columbia. He, like the other guys, is looking for a wife. Miss Hazel is known as a Mountie matchmaker. Tilly, a professional chef, would be a perfect match for always hungry Nolan. Tilly withholds an incident of her past. Will Tilly be anything more than feeding Nolan's hungry stomach? I really love reading this series and look forward to the next one.
I love a "mail order bride" story, and what a delightful bonus that this one has a Canadian version. The author has created a whole list of wonderful, well rounded characters, and has given them purpose. Her writing skills are awesome, her plot easy to follow and pleasant to read, and of course, a happy ending! I absolutely loved these hero's as they not only fall in love, but capture your heart along the way. Loved it and am looking forward to more from this series/author.
This is one of those reviews that everything I can think to write results in a partial spoiler. Okay, old stand by. I absolutely loved all of the characters i should have loved and wanted to punch the arseholes. The story was great, especially because I've never read one involving the CRMP. This one even had a moose popping in and out. Loved it!!!
Tilly is fired as a cook in Ottawa after a bad run in with her employer. Following this, no one wants to hire her, so she has no choice but to become a mail order bride. She travels several provinces away & marries Nolan, who ends up being someone who needs her in his life. Then she decides she must tell him about what happened in Ottawa, but she is scared that he will abandon her.
This was a cute short story, with some drama & a great ending.
Loved Nolan & Tilly! They were the perfect match! Where one is patient the other is headstrong, one loves to create & the other loves to eat those creations! I was so sure Nolan was destined to marry a chef...so lucky that they found each other, and appreciate each other's strengths & weaknesses, flaws & characteristics. And that crazy moose!! Fabulous read!
I love this silly moose as much as the characters in these books! And I hope he wins the coin toss! The bottomless pit Nolan finally meets his match in Miss Tilly. I really like how these men protect not only their nation but their women and families as well. They stand up for things that are right. Thank you for your story Ms Hayes!
What a wonderful book! It's a sweet romance that makes you feel good. Nolan and Tilly are such wonderful characters and I just fell in love with them. Nolan is the epitome of a Canadian Mountie and makes you proud he wears the red serge uniform; I highly recommend this book if you want a "feel good" read. I look forward to the next books in this series.
This was excellently written. Has some very good and memorable characters. I loved Nolan's character. Some of the things he does along with his voracious appetite had me laughing until I had tears. If you're not feeling well or down in the "dumps" this will help to cheer you up, and any age can read it. Great work!
Sweet brides and handsome RCM? Match made in heaven!
What a sweet tale of Ms. Hazel and her matchmaking for the brave RCM and the lovely ladies who love them. A fun look into life in 1900 century western Canada. A lawless territory being brought to order by the men who wear the bright red tunic of the RCM and the rocky path to happiness they must all tread.
Tilly is chosen by Hazel as a mail order bride for Nolan. He's always hungry and she's a chef. They have an instant attraction but take the sexual part of their relationship slowly. Tilly is hesitant after being attacked by a former employer.
This is a sweet story with no sex. Tilly and Nolan are meant for each other.
I enjoyed the humor in this story. The main characters (Nolan and Tilly) were a charismatic couple. Their courtship and honesty with each other were nicely developed throughout the story. Enjoy your writing style. You have a new fan.😊
