2 stars... UGHHHHHHHHHHHHH. THIS BOOK. WHY AMANDA MILO, WHY? I could easily have rated this book -20 stars for the shit this author pulled, but I am giving it 2 because I did think that there were good parts to this story.
WARNING, MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD.
Where do I even begin?
The heroine, all off page before this book begins, is taken from earth and sold to snake men. She is then brutally raped, repeatedly. The snake men bite her all over her body, including her nipples and nether region. They force her to perform all kinds of acts against her will, degrading her in every way imaginable. She is a mess when the hero first finds her, and she continues to be a mess for a long time after, which was totally understandable given what she went through. Most of this story is about her healing and learning to live her life after these horrific events.
That's all fine, and I actually enjoyed some parts of the story...until...
We find out that she's pregnant with the rapists' baby. This part was foreshadowed quite a bit at the beginning and I knew it was coming, but was desperately hoping I was wrong.
This is where the story took a very PRO-LIFE direction. I absolutely do not think that a woman should be forced to give birth and take care of her rapist's child. I am so disgusted with this author for taking this book in that direction, I could vomit.
The heroine is ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATED when she learns she's pregnant. She immediately realizes that it couldn't be the hero's baby and knows that it has to be the result of the snake men's rape. She rightfully freaks the fuck out, cries, becomes a mess again, etc. She has every right to feel that way. She has every right to not want to be a mother to the baby who wasn't wanted and would forever remind her of her rape and torture at the hands of monsters.
Unfortunately for her, the entirety of everyone seems to think otherwise. While she is miserable, the hero is all about the baby. He wants to keep the baby and be the father. He really is a good hero, but this takes it a step too far. He doesn't really give the heroine much of a choice... just saying that she will regret aborting the fetus. He seems to downplay just how fucked up the heroine was by what happened to her with platitudes about how the baby will be half her, etc. I was just SO DISGUSTED by all of this. It was painful to read.
Then, the baby is born and has many snake-like features. Like hello, couldn't the author have AT LEAST made the baby not be a fucking half-snake creature? Noooooo...the heroine had to keep suffering. She is immediately freaked when she sees the baby, but once again, the hero forces her to get over her VERY UNDERSTANDABLE reaction, and nurse the baby. The baby that has FANGS AND A FORKED TONGUE LIKE HER RAPISTS. NOOOOOOOOOOO. HELL TO THE NOOOOOOOOO. THIS IS NOT OKAY.
Ofc, the heroine ends up loving the baby, the rest of her reactions are basically brushed under the rug, and they end up such a fucking happy family that it's disgusting. Literally.
But, I will say it again, this is not ok. This story is not ok. This story is a pro-life agenda in book form.
I am extremely disgusted with Amanda Milo for the direction that this story took.

We know from Stolen by an Alien Callie has been brutalized by another alien species. So, I knew it was going to be bad. My heart hurt so much for her. I cannot even imagine what she went through. She was truly a strong heroine to come out of all of that and become an amazing mate to Zadeon. I really appreciate the author "hinted" at or minimized the descriptions of her captivity. It was bad enough just imagining what happened.
And let me tell you, this author knows how to write a perfect swoon-worthy hero. Zadeon was amazing! He did everything right for Callie. I hurt for him too seeing his mate in the condition she is and not being able to do anything about it. But he truly did. He was there for her and became the rock she needed to pull herself out of her depression and move forward and realize she is NOT what happened to her....she is so much more than that and it is only one part of her life.
He was the perfect mate. He knew Callie was his from a very young age. He dreamed of her and no other woman would do.
And oh lord...I had a feeling I knew what was going to happen. There were hints throughout the book and I kept praying that it wasn't going to be true. But, it was. I cannot even imagine THAT scenario. Callie's initial reaction was totally understandable. And Zadeon...did I mention he was the PERFECT hero? He was so amazing and strong and his reaction was so sweet and heartfelt. He was there for her and helped her to pull through it and realize what it truly was...a blessing.
I absolutely LOVED book 1. And while this one was good, it didn't work quite as well for me. I felt the first 25-40% of the book was disjointed and choppy. I had to go back and reread the first two chapters to make sure I wasn't missing something. After about the 40% mark, it began to get better though I don't think it ever reached the writing level of book 1. I'm not sure what happened here. That's not to say I still didn't enjoy the book because I did. I will definitely keep reading this series and I'm looking forward to the next book. However, I can say, I really have no interest in Gracie unless she improves. She's just not the type of heroine I like. I really hate Dohrien was paired with her...just my two cents.

DNF. Heroine is gang raped by aliens and still vomiting semen days later - who the fuck thinks shit belongs in a romance novel??????!!!!! ANYONE? ANYONE? And then she gets busy with some Godzilla type motherfucker who has a TAIL, and SCALES, and FLOPPY EARS and SCALES. Sweet baby Jesus I’m ready for therapy.

Wow! Seriously. I loved this book and was blown away by the great story this author told.
The H is a j/p alien with horns, scales, claws and a tail. He's super strong and absolutely devoted to the h. They've been dreaming of each other their whole lives. His first word was her name. He loves her with everything he is and he treated her exceptionally well. Though he never met her, he's been faithful to her and never been with another woman. She is quite simply "it" for him! I loved it!
However, this isn't a "safe" book.

Huh
I loved the first book. Was super excited for this book even knowing that Callie had been through hell. But this book was not what I expected...at all.
The first 40-50% was a disjointed mess. I had trouble figuring out what was going on, when and with whom. I can't imagine dropping in without reading the first book.
It sort of straightened itself out at that point, however the way this author writes conversations makes it hard for me to figure out who is talking at times. That makes for a very difficult read because I feel I have to go back and figure it out and it disrupts the flow.
Zadeon is absolutely perfect. Sure he was a pretty gross sounding alien but his actions were perfect. He absolutely is the only reason I finished this book.
Callie...she went through something too horrible to imagine. I honestly do not think I could have lived through it. So I do not fault her for being so fucked up the ENTIRE book. But honestly, I like my romance novels to be a bit easier to read. The heroine wallowing in her misery for almost the whole story is miserable to me. Sure I might be an insensitive bitch for wanting her to "get over it" but I am not reading an alien romance story for such angst and sorrow. The constant reminders of the atrocities are just not enjoyable. Her selfishness and being so horrible to Z in her head was too much for me. I get why she could not get past it quickly or easily, but it is not my idea of a great read.
The elephant in the room...I HATED. I saw it coming from the very first hint and it caused anxiety the entire book. Zadeon handled it as perfectly as possible, but it was too much for me. It sucked the life out of any building romance and future for me.
I enjoyed the epilogue but the author still wrote it in a way that it took work figuring out who was saying what about whom. I am sure it makes sense to her as she invented the story, but she needs a good beta reader. But the epilogue left me feeling much better than the entire book did. The second epilogue was very intriguing and may make me want to read that book.

Mixed reaction #2. I was mixed on the first book, Stolen by an Alien, and this one had me leaning one way and then the other, too.
"Z": Loved him. He was all spines and scales and horns and tail and breathing fire. How Milo managed to make that seem like a cuddle-bug, I don't know, but she did. I especially enjoyed the surreptitious - and not so surreptitious - "scenting." Those were a few LOL moments. His personality and backstory emerge more throughout the book, and I liked the details.
Callie and her situation: Difficult to read at times, yet I felt some of the struggle seemed legitimate. Trauma, depression, horror, shame, anger, fear. Lots of emotions are processed. I felt overwhelmed with Callie at times. But once she finally feels better, I felt her backstory was short-changed. Plus, her snark and attitude sounded suspiciously like Angie from book one. In future books, I hope that there are different personalities that emerge, and I have high hopes for superior, dry Dohrein and sarcastic, abrasive Gracie. Behind closed doors with these two will be very enlightening, I think.

This is my second book from Amanda Milo. I haven’t laughed this much reading a book recently. I loved how witty and funny were the dialogues between her characters.
Callie was kidnapped and brutally raped by aliens. Z was connected to her from childhood eventhough they were galaxies apart. He rescued her and from there starts callie’s journey to recovery and rediscovery.
Even though I read this book as standalone i think it was very connected to book 1. Some things weren’t explained in detail. For example the alien appearences and their specific characteristics.
I loved Z, our hero. He was very possessive, sweet and understanding alien alpha. But this side was reserved only for callie. For others he was ferocious and dangerous gladiator. I felt so much for callie and what she went through and how much she suffered.
I liked how tender and caring Z was to her. He was also a virgin. There are so many sweet and funny scenes in this story. Along with angst and hurt.
Recommended for all who love aliens and fantasy books.

I really enjoyed this book. I read it an afternoon and was happy as can be. It had dark topics as the heroine didn't escape being abducted by slavers as a sexual object without horrors.
I like that she didn't. I like the time in takes here to work through the issues (what she can) I like that everyone knows she needs therapy and they do the best that can for her (don't want to spoil). I like that not all reaction to her trauma are supportive.
I like the heroine very much and the hero is great.
However, you have to have read the first book to really understand what is happening in this book in terms of culture, events, and even what the hero looks like.
The camera lens needed a bit pulling back. But the other book is a sweeter on the run type alien romance so you should read that too.

Loved Z!!!

This one wasn’t really for me in terms of plot and story direction and I struggled to lose myself in the unfolding story.
I did really like the first book in this series and also others by this author so I will definitely read this author again but this one just was not to my taste unfortunately it happens.
This story centres on one of the previous rescued woman Callie, she has been seriously brutalised by her snake captors and has been left with deep scars.
Her mate is Zadeon a former gladiator the previous book hero’s brother and he is totally gruff and growly with everyone except Callie that is.
In fact, Zadeon is the best part of this and without him, I might have not finished this he is definitely patience personified and also so god damned adorable in all his ways.
Callie has been hearing his song in her head without realising all of her life and this story is all about healing from past traumas and forging new pathways.
Zadeon is the perfect alien book boyfriend and Callie was likeable enough I just had a bit of a disconnect and was slightly bored throughout.
The aftermath from the abuse was done well and sympathetically but I also felt that I had been dropped into a story with limited explanations and as such you really do need to read the first book in this series for further clarification.
It’s been a while since I’ve read the previous book so I could have done with the refresh myself.
This doesn’t really work as a stand-alone in my opinion and you will need to read book one before this.
I also found myself getting turned around and confused during some conversations over who was speaking and with all the extra characters involved this could get a tad confusing at times, I also wasn’t a fan of the twist either, This was just Ok for me but I did finish it.

Guys, I'm so happy to have discovered this author! I love alien romance books and this one, just like the first, is everything that I look for. It's not an easy romance, but it is one with heart and soul and all that alien goodness. And I was really happy to see that this one was much cleaner editing wise. That detracted a teensy little bit from the last story. I'm now officially a fan!

The Good
-Kindle Unlimited (if you’re signed up for it).
-Tackles a very serious subject with care. This book overlaps with events from the first book, Stolen by an Alien (“SbaA”). It is imperative that you read that book first (more below). The heroine, Callie, has been abducted from Earth and suffers a horrific rape (details of which are shared in mini-flashbacks and dialogue, not shown in detail). Writing about the brutal rape of a heroine is never an easy task, but I have said that any topic in romance can potentially work if written with care and skill. Ms. Milo has not shied away from playing the necessary beats, and she has really delved into the emotional trauma that Callie (and Zadeon) suffer in a sensitive way and made their HEA feel genuine and earned by the end.
-The romance has hearts (makes sense when you read it). Zadeon, a Rakhii gladiator and brother of the hero in the first book, has always dreamed of his wingless Gryfala, and when he hears of slavers abducting many Gryfala, he rushes out, knowing he will meet his dream. He’s a fantastic, understanding hero who never, ever wavers and that is exactly what Callie needs. She is a survivor who has suffered her own tragedies before she even leaves Earth, but she finds the will to make it through. I connected with both of them and every painful beat made me ache for them. I was impressed at the level of emotion I felt for them, which I wasn’t expecting when I started this series.
-Still enough humor to lighten the serious subject matter. Before I have you thinking this was an angst-o-rama, the secondary characters, all introduced in the first book, help give some balance to this story. The glimpses of their own banter and struggles helped the story flow and not feel like sadness all the time.
-Tease for the future. There’s a chapter at the end that gives a glimpse into the future that has me intrigued and willing to see what Ms. Milo will come up with. She’s impressed me so far.
The Bad and Everything in Between
-Not a standalone. The beginning of the story needed more setup. If I had not read SbaA, I would have been completely lost. There’s no real info given in this book to let the reader understand how they came together and why they’re being housed in captivity now. Even if a romance is supposed to weave into an overarching storyline, it should work as a separate story. This is too dependent on the first book.
-Editing a little more wouldn’t hurt. There’s some dangling story threads again like the first book that I don’t expect to learn more of in future books and aren’t necessary to this story, so they could have been taken out to tighten up the narrative. I would have loved some time spent on further defining this ‘verse as well as the individual species in this series. Also, additional editing could have corrected some grammatical errors and questionable verbiage (aka words that don’t exist) that frankly took me out of the moment. Sometimes big words aren’t necessary. Just the right ones.
-More isolated than first book. Because they’re in captivity throughout this book, there’s no action series, no sense of movement. It made me restless at times, though I appreciate that this was meant to be about Callie’s recovery/re-emergence, I still missed the adventure of the first book.
I enjoyed Zadeon and Callie’s difficult, angsty road to HEA, though I almost feel as if this 4 stars is really for the first and second book combined. It was imperative to read the first book for this book to work as well as it did for me. However, if you’re into alien-sci-fi roms and aren’t shy about dealing with the aftermath of rape in your romance, then you may enjoy this. I would recommend the series so far and I’m looking forward to what comes next.

4.5 Stars. I loved the first book Stolen by an Alien. I absolutely adored Rescued by an Alien. I was afraid to read this because I knew what happened to Callie in Stolen. She was amazing for all she endured. I’m grateful that the background of Callie’s abduction was handled without a lot of information, but enough to imagine what she went through. Zadeon was perfect, sweet, lovable, cute, alpha and kinda hot. This is my favorite in the series, so far. I will stay in this world for a bit longer.

Rescued by an Alien was the second book in Amanda Milo’s Stolen by an Alien series. The series is pretty fun and enjoyable sci-fi romance. Milo has an engaging writing style and this series offers a good mix of cute romance, humour, and some drama.
This instalment focused on Callie and Zadeon. We met both briefly in the first instalment. Callie was not so lucky as the protagonist from the first book and was suffering from PTSD after some horrific treatment by her first batch of alien owners. Zadeon was Arokh’s (the alien hero of the first book) older brother and was a larger more intense version of him! Zadeon rescued Callie from her awful captors and then devoted himself to helping her recover from the ordeal.
This ended up being a darker tale than the first book in the series but it was still a very good romance tale. More drama than romcom but there was still some of the lighter fun and cute moments that were a feature of the first instalment of the series and the romance we did get was pretty good.
Callie and Zadeon were super easy to like. Zadeon might have been a little unstable even for one of his race but he was always very gentle and supportive of Callie and always went out of his way to make her feel safe and comfortable both with her situation and with him. It made it super easy to buy into the duo as a romantic pairing.
All in all this was an enjoyable and addictive alien romance. It had some dark moments and plenty of drama but was still a fun tale thanks to the likeable leads.
Rating: 4 stars.
Audio Note: Nick Cracknell did OK with the audio. He struggles a tad with the female POV segments but not enough that it actually damages my ability to enjoy the audio!

I still really enjoyed this sequel and would absolutely pick up the next in the series but I'm unable to rate higher due to the dark content. The book focused a little too much on the mc's trauma, which is understandable because we already knew what she went through coming out of the first book BUT it was still too much for me, not enough world building and exploring alien cultures. Plus they had this mind meld thing that was never explained or explored, wtf. Overall I still liked the book and am happy I read it.

See my review for Stolen by an Alien! I subtracted one star because I enjoyed it less with the heroine being so tortured, and not sure that just "talking about it" would have fixed her, but whatever.

Really enjoyed Zadeon and Callie's story. Yes, it has its dark moments, the terror and trauma that Callie experienced at the hands of her captors, but Amanda Milo also brings humor to her books as well. In this, we are taken through Callie's journey of recovery as well as the relationship and deep truth that develop between her and Zadeon. She has a lot to overcome, but Zadeon is utterly sweet and patient with her.
The beginning of this book had a rocky start. I was confused at first, and there were time jumps that took me a bit to catch onto. You would definitely need to read Stolen by an Alien (Book 1) to grasp what happened, though it's still a little confusing. After a bit, the story smooths out and takes off from there. Part of this is because the timelines overlap from the first book, so there is backtracking as these characters all appeared together at the same time, and not wanting to write a repeat of what happened in book one.
Love the secondary characters. Of course, we have Arokh and Angie from the first book, but also Gracie and Dohrein. These two are hilarious. I cracked up when Gracie exclaimed, "I need one of those!' and Dohrein's reaction afterward. We're experiencing their relationship in this book, as well.
I'm really hoping Crispin has a book. I love the hobs. Like, really...really like them. They have wings, and claws, and fangs, and wings, and sex powder and....wings! Except for Crispin...poor guy. But he has the other stuff, and I would really, really like to see his book and his experience on Earth as he tries to blend in. From the second Epilogue...I also can't wait for Baskin and Tika! Curious how this will play out.
Overall, it's a fun read. Again, don't judge these books by their covers (Sorry Amanda!), but the content within. These are great escape books..

4 1/2 stars I really really enjoy this book. I’m not sure if I enjoyed it as much as book one but this was a great second book in amazing series. Now be warned this book has some really hard subjects in it that if you read book one you are aware of. I have to give this author props for not only how she wrote these really tuff situations but how she handled them and how the characters handled them. I loved both the hero and the heroine and really enjoyed this book from beginning to end. When I saw where this book was headed I will admit I didn’t like it, I kept thinking no, no, no but the author somehow made it more than work for me she made this into a great read and made me ok with something I normally am not. My heart broke over and over again for the heroine, and on the other side I was amazed over and over again at the hero. Though sad this love story is beautiful. I highly recommend this book but be warned it has some tuff subjects. I can’t wait for the next book which is about this hero and heroines son and after this book I can not wait, I’m glad he is getting a book, I don’t see how that book could be anything but amazing

Reader Advice!! Do not read this book if you are offended or sensitive to certain issues or controversial subjects, like rape, or/and post rape pregnancy, violence against women, PTSD etc.
I read this book in one seating, I loved it!! Callie and Zadeon story is sweet and romantic, it speaks of strength, and teach us to never give up, I like the fact the heroine was able to overcomes her trauma in a realistic way, not overnight like in some other books. I will recommend for any reader to read the first book before starting this one; it will give you a much-needed back story about what happened before Callie was abducted, and why they are now in a Gryfala controlled compound.

The hero in this was read was one of my all time favorite book heroes. The heroine had been through hell and he remained so patient and kind to the heroine. The character development on these characters was very well executed. Even the secondary characters were well portrayed. I look forward to more of this writers work.

We all know that feeling; you can’t stop smiling; the butterflies in your stomach; work days seem to become twice as long as all you’ve got on your mind is getting back to your heart’s desire. We’ve all felt in and recognise the symptoms of find a brand new author to fan girl over. Well, that’s what happened to me when I started reading Amanda Milo’s Stolen by an Alien series. She gets me. She understands that I love a romance involving an alien that’s actually a bit alien.
I really liked these books, they were a lot of fun with heroines I liked and some alien heroes who despite their massive stature were adorable and easy to love. Each story does seem to follow a very similar pattern, however, I enjoyed that pattern and would have happily read three more of these books one after the other.
At the moment there are 3 books in this series (all of which I read in about 2 days! I was addicted) and below in a rundown of each book.
Book #1 Stolen by an Alien
Alien type: Dragon/Lizard, known as Rakhii
Alien appendages: Scales, horns, fangs, genitalia I’ll let you discover for yourselves!
Hobbies: Getting their scents on their Mates. Making their Mate the most sexually satisfied woman in the galaxy.
It’s hard not to fall in love with Arokh; for a seven foot dragon man with pointy teeth and horns he’s adorable. It’s a great introduction to the series and it got me immediately hooked.
Book #2 Rescued by an Alien
Alien type: Dragon/Lizard, known as Rakhii
Alien appendages: Scales, horns, fangs, genitalia I’ll let you discover for yourselves!
Hobbies: Getting their scents on their Mates. Making their Mate the most sexually satisfied woman in the galaxy.
In the second book in the series, we are sticking with the Rakhii, this time we have Zadeon. Zadeon is a fierce gladiator, whose spent so much time as a warrior that he’s lost his hearing. However, scary as he is, he turns into a marshmallow when around his traumatised mate.
Book #3 Won by an Alien
Alien type: Dragon/Lizard, known as Rakhii
Alien appendages: Scales, horns, fangs, genitalia I’ll let you discover for yourselves!
Hobbies: Getting their scents on their Mates. Making their Mate the most sexually satisfied woman in the galaxy.
Alien Type: Kangaroo like
Alien appendages: Legs like a kangaroo, when angry his skin changes colour and becomes a deadly toxin. When happy/horny changes to attract his mate
Hobbies: Being adorable. Making his mate happy.
That’s right, we get two aliens for the price on one in Won by an Alien. The cute Tac’Mot, who has legs like a kangaroo. Then there is Brax a Rakhii. This isn’t an entirely harmonious pairing at first as Rakhii aren’t known to share well. But for the sake of their mate they give it their all.

So this is a 3 star that really should be a 2.5 star but isn't cause I did like the first 75% of the book.

Well, let's just say I wish I hadn't read it.
By no means am I being insensitive in regards to the happenings it's just that, it could have been "phrased" differently and had much more of an impact rather than turning into a nightmare.
Which is yeah what I felt cause I did like the book and especially Zadeon and I totally saw it coming since the beginning so it wasn't a shock and I'm trying so hard go explain but it all feels so spoilery I can't get my reasons across, you get me?
I don't want any body to read this review and be turned off from the book or anything Amanda Milo cause she is awesome and so are her characters. Regardless of my feelings here I am totally invested in the series. Now I might not read Baskian's book but that has more to do with my personal feelings and my, as mentioned before, issues with the authors "phrasing".
But don't let that stop you, do give it a shot cause I'm still going to.

Book 2 in this series
Ok ok ok just when I think this series couldn't get any better... I'm knocked right out of my socks and blown away.
I thought the first book in this series ( stolen by the alien) was a brilliant read. I knew Z and Callie we're gonna have an emotionally rough time but damm...their story was one that hit me right in the heart; more than a few times killing me with THE FEELS! Sadness, pain, joy, love, humour..this book has it all!!! ( I ADORE GRACIE!!! Just saying )
As in any book that has a H or h that has suffered a trauma in their past, there are tough moments but ( really good trigger warning at the start of the book, but if you've read the first in the series you are made aware that Callie has been abused ) this book focuses on the healing and the strengthening of Callie, with z's friendship and love to overcome and rise above.
Words fail to express how much I enjoyed this book. I will be stalking this author for new releases some thing HARD!

Zadeon and Callie have many obstacles to overcome before they get their happy ending but what a HAPPY ending it is!
I enjoyed both characters immensely. Each had some pretty significant traumas or issues to overcome before they could be with the other. The author handled both their issues well, as far as I'm concerned. Nothing was glossed over but neither was it gratuitous.
I enjoyed being able to see the characters from the first book interact with the characters from the second book. It only enhances the storyline.

I certainly do not understand some of the negative reviews. I enjoyed this book more than the first, and the first was very good. I think the author showed restraint in the flashbacks to Callie’s rape and did not oversell the sex scenes as some do. She has successfully created a totally ‘alien’ backdrop with totally ‘alien’ characters that has been done by only a few. I think the author has a lot of promise and I look forward to more.

Triggers as h has been raped by evil aliens. H rescues her has to help her fight for to recover. H is going deaf, scares other but he adores her and is so sweet and patient with her. They have been aware of each other from both, so know they are soul mates. Then she realised she is pregnant and it can't be the Hs baby. Lovely book about courage and the power of love.
