I really wanted to love this book. The synopsis sounded brilliant and reminded me of Terminator (the movie), so I was eager to start reading.

However, not long in to the book I quickly realised that it wasn't going to be a straight forward read. There was too much going on, and too many characters. At times everything became a jumble and I was re-reading pages just to fully understand them.

The idea for the book sounds good, but the execution not so. Less characters, less secondary plots and more time spent on the main plot, would have made this book a five star rating, unfortunately I can't award it that. Shame as I love will i am and had such high hopes for the book.

PS: Will.I.Am è meglio che faccia musica. Il che detto da me non è un gran contratto, visto che poi mi piangono le orecchie.

There was a lot going on in this book - Wizards, Robots, Aliens, Time Travel and though I was amazed and excited at the possibilities sadly the phrase; Too many cooks spoil the broth definitely applies here. The Wizards use of magic felt limited for such supposed all powerful beings, there was no solid explanation for the Alien's presence and I was left with more questions than answers by the end of the book.

The story as a whole was really good and we got a glimpse into two distant futures. It was an easy read and I whizzed through it pretty quickly and managed for the most part to stay interested and entertained. We got a great picture of Ada's world filled with gadgets and robots and a change in how law enforcement operated and it felt like a taste of a not to distant future from when we are now.

“There is no end . . . The past is the present is the future.”

This story is set in three different time periods but is essentially an endeavour to thwart enemies by using knowledge, skills and talents from the different times. However, that really is an over simplistic way of describing this action packed story of wizards and robots endeavouring to protect the Earth and mankind from an alien invasion . . . .

Events in all three time periods are portrayed as separate threads which become interwoven as key events and characters influence and connect. The key character is Ada Luring, the teenage daughter of Sara Luring who invented the first robot with artificial intelligence, a robot who was able to learn, adapt and so much more. A robot from a future time travels to find and protect her and a wizard from a past era also travels through time to seek Ada and her mother you just know life is never going to be simple again!

This is a magical and technological adventure with very different characters learning to work together to overcome their mutual enemies. It is a unique mix of so many science fiction and fantasy elements blended to create a fast paced dystopian world and a battle of good v evil. The writing is engaging, flowing well and keeping the reader eager to learn more. However, initially I found it somewhat confusing as I couldn’t see how the disparate events related to each other and, even though I’ve now finished reading it, there are still some unanswered questions (such as where did the aliens originate and why did they attack Earth?). I did like how the different characters reacted and related to each other and especially with Ada. Overall I found it an entertaining read and recommend it to anyone who enjoys science fiction or fantasy stories with gadgets galore and magical powers, too!

I requested and received a copy of this novel via NetGalley. This is my honest review after choosing to read it.

I really enjoyed this book. It's a fun, young-adult, sci-fi/fantasy adventure.

Ada Luring is a teenager living an average life when her world is turned upside down. The plot is set some years into the future and there are a lot of references to futuristic technological advances throughout, which make the story interesting and thought-provoking. It sparks the imagination with ideas of future technology and how people could be living in the next couple of hundred years. The fun thing about fantasy is that no one really knows, so it's interesting to read other people's ideas about such things.

Earth is threatened by an evil attack set to take place in the future and Ada is called upon to help to avoid the catastrophe. This book cleverly skips between the past, present, and future as we follow the Ada, along with her companions, in their quest for answers in an attempt to prevent the impending destruction of Earth.

As indicated by the title, this book features wizards and robots. A team of killer robots are threatening to destroy everything. Ada and her friends soon discover there is more to this than meets the eye.

Ada's companions include a wizard from the past and a robot from the future, as well as her own pet robot.

I think this book can be enjoyed by all ages, although it is in essence a young adult book.

The story is compelling and I found myself looking forward to finding out what would happen next.
There are a lot of action-packed scenes that keep the story moving forward. The main characters Ada and Geller are enchanting and endearing.

The idea behind the book is intriguing and it's written in a enthralling way. It kept my interest throughout.

The ending really brings everything together nicely. Definitely worth reading.

I first went into this book not expecting to like it. Futuristic novels that involve robots and wizards? I didn't think it'd be my thing and it probably isn't, but with WaR: Wizards and Robots... It surprised me, and I've ended up loving this book so much that I am officially deeming it my favourite read of 2018 so far. It was such an action packed novel, one with a plot unlike anything I've ever read, and one with characters who're just so real and strong that I could very easily relate to them when it came to some of what they had to go through throughout this novel.

Firstly, we have Geller: a young wizard from the past.

Next is Ada: a human girl from the present.

And then we have Kaku: a robot from the future.

These three characters have nothing - yet everything - in common, and it's up to these three strangers (as the story goes on) to pan together and save the future from the evilness that's destroying the Earth; evilness that Ada's own mother may have unintentionally had a part of creating.

That wasn't the best description on what to expect in this novel, but it is kind of hard to explain what it is that happens in this book given that this is just such a complex story, one told through time - thanks to time travel and wizard-induced centuries long sleeps - and it's one that isn't necessarily revolved around one certain character, and so we have several sub-plots happening throughout the book; sub-plots that only ever added to the main plot, and also always had me more and more on the edge of my seat with what it was that was going on.

A more accurate description on what to expect from this book is that WaR: Wizards and Robots is basically The Terminator meets X-Men: The Apocalypse meets Doctor Strange, and given that I love those three movies? This book was e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g to me. I was so hooked to this story that for the life of me I just could not put this novel down, and with the more I read on, the more I just did not want to leave this world.

Its books like these that're my favourite - not necessarily the genre itself, but the fact that it took me by surprise by how amazing it was and how much I really enjoyed it. I was captivated by this story from start to finish, and I know it's a book I'll definitely be rereading again in the future. I loved it, and if Will.i.am and Brian David Johnson ever team up again and write another story like this one - or better yet, write another book that takes place in this world - then you can bet your ass that I'll be buying it.

I received an e-arc from netgalley.

This is a book about Wizards and Robots being enemies and trying to destroy each other. It centres around Ada and Geller trying to save Earth.

I really enjoyed this book and found it very easy to read. I found the time travel aspect interesting and it's one of the few books I've read about robots.

I liked both of the main characters and found that they had a lot of depth to them.

I don't know what else to say about this book other than you should read it without knowing too much because it would make it a lot more interesting.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Okay so this book really surprised me. When I first saw the title in NetGalley my first reaction was:

'Wizards and Robots? That sounds stupid.' Stupid enough for me to want more information and request it just for the hell of it - figuring if they accepted it'd be an interesting experience and if they didn't, no real loss.

I probably should have read the description since it explicitly states one of the co-authors is will.i.am - a fact that threw me a little since I knew he had recently branched into graphic novels as he appeared on Good Morning Britain with his book 'Black Eyed Peas Presents: Masters Of The Sun - The Zombie Chronicles' but didn't know he'd gone into YA prose too. I'm kind of ashamed that I went into the book with low expectations because of this - I don't really even know why I just did - because this is hands down one of the best written YA (though I feel like this could be shelved at a middle school level too) books I've read in a long time.

The writing itself was great, and not in an overly descriptive flowery way but just in the simplicity of the writing and the variety of vocabulary at this level of reading is just great and would appeal to young adults. The characters were all great and relatable in a big way and they all had their own arcs and development. I was also really impressed by the world-building mainly because I didn't even know it was happening until I was in the world.

The story jumps around to 3 time periods in the first half of the chapters and usually this kind of storytelling confuses the heck out of me and I can only piece it together fully at the end (I'm looking at you The Night Circus ) but since the characters and settings in each one were so distinctly different from one another I didn't have this issue.

Overall it was a really fun read, I liked all the characters and their personal development and the story was interesting and made me care about the outcome. The concept could have produced something silly and pointless but it worked in a weirdly wonderful way and most importantly this is the kind of book I can imagine encouraging primary/middle school kids to read more which is always a great thing in my opinion.

I was reluctant when I first heard about this book. It sounded like a throw everything into the mix and hope something sticks was thought process. In reality, the story really does blend, robots, wizards, humans, and a whole host of other things and it does so very well.

I stormed through this book in 2 days. Could have done with being longer. Hopefully there will be a follow up.

[I received a copy of this book through NetGalley.]

That was a quick and fun read, even though I think it was too quick, and could’ve been developed into something a little longer without losing its focus or just filling pages: there was definietely a lot going on in this story, what’s with robots and wizards, of course, but also aliens and time travel!

I found the plot easy enough to follow, which isn’t always the case when time travel is concerned. I liked the two (three?) worlds depicted, too: Ada’s ‘present’ with its computers, drones and technological feats; the future world, full of despair but also of loyal robots holding the fort until the end; and, in a way, the world of the wizards, in a ‘powerful beings mired into their own past and refusing to acknowledge changes’ way.

The main characters, too, all had aspects that made them quite likeable in spite of their faults. Sara’s mum may not be available for her family, but she wants to further the cause of knowledge and build a good future for humanity. Ada has her sulky side, but on the other hand she’s loyal to her friends, whether humans or robots. Kaku is powerful, but uses his power and intelligence to learn and protect. Geller isn’t strong, but when offered a bigger power, he clearly uses it to help, and not for his own personal gain.

I’m not giving the book more than 2.5/3 stars, because even though I enjoyed it, it was too short to properly deal with everything, and the ending raised so many questions, and left so many doors open, for something that doesn’t look like a sequel’s in the plans (I had that feeling when I was some 50 pages from the end, and wondering how on Earth everything could be wrapped up). So, yes, the characters were enjoyable, but not very developed. There’s no clear explanation as to why the Spawn is here (well, there is one, but we never get to learn why exactly what they wre trying to destroy was so dangerous -for them-). There are too many unresolved threads when it comes to Ada’s present, such as the future role of the anti-robots people, or what she’s going to do after such an end to the story; and what awaits Geller is too vague, too.

Conclusion: Good for a quick and entertaining read, but don’t expect well-developed characters or a tight plot.

I received this book from the publishers, via Net Galley, in exchange for an honest review.
What did I just read?!?!
I want to say at the start of this that the e-ARC I received was very poorly formatted and line numbering was left in for each and every line in the book (nor sentence either). So that make it almost impossible to read. However I am trying not to let that colour my review. It did make it harder to follow and I’m certain I missed bits because of it.
Having said all that though. What did I just read?? It *should* be a good, interesting book - there’s wizards, and they were basically wiped out by evil robots so they declare war on all robots. So far, so good? Nope! Cause only some robots are evil or maybe not cause they’re fighting some force that is never explained. And the wizards are all horribly and actually evil anyway except one. And there’s sleep spells to move forward in time, and time travelling robots from the future and random people in the present day and WTF. It’s basically not a bad concept but it needs a SERIOUS edit to make it make sense. And there are WAY too many sub plots and WAY too many characters. The in-fighting wizards isn’t really explained, other than I’m guessing it’s supposed to be politics. The people bad guys - the anti robot people - are pointless and petty and so flat they’re 1-D.
I basically can’t think of anything good to say, I’m afraid. It’s not a bad concept, it’s just far too complicated. It’s like someone said let’s do X. And then instead of doing X they did X then Y then Z and then sprinkled extra characters on top for no good reason. I’m so frustrated right now.
Oh also? With like ten minutes of reading left to go I was thinking that maybe this has a sequel because there’s no way it wraps up even just the war in the time. Ahahahahahaha. I actually wish. Because no, they did. Somehow. It all suddenly ended with no real satisfying explanation and ZERO follow up for the two characters who have to go back to their time. ARGHHHHHH. WTF.
Anyway, rant over. Do not read this book, it will only upset you.

I had an ARC copy of this book in return for an honest review. Overall I have to say that I enjoyed reading it, especially as the book went on and I began to see how the various timelines and subplots worked together. There are problems, characters tend towards being underdeveloped, especially minor characters; the swapping time periods at the beginning when there seems to be no links seems rather confusing; there are a few subplots and questions left unresolved with no hints that they will be followed up; the ending is quite abrupt and you are left wondering how Geller and Ada got on. However all that said, it was an easy read (as an adult, probably aimed at 13yo) and it was enjoyable. I particularly liked Geller’s character and as the story went on we could see development there. There is also room for his character to develop much further, possibly with a struggle over becoming like his father? Ada too was likeable, although not quite as well developed. For a first book this was good, although possibly in need of a good editor who could help the author overcome the weaknesses.

When someone breaks into Ada's home claiming her life is in danger. Geller is a Wizard and his father and their clan want Ada and her mother Sara dead. Why? Because Sara is a scientist and she is about to create the first Robot. Wizards and Robots are age-old enemies.

I was interested to see how this book would turn out. Several musicians and comics have taken to writing, some have worked and some have not. This one I think worked out okay.

I thought it was a good book, well written with a good plot and an interesting storyline. It is aimed at children aged 12 and above and I think this is the right age range to be aiming at for this book.

I did enjoy this book, I'm not sure I would read it again but I would recommend it for children in the intended age range and for parents looking for a good book to read to their children.

Thank You to NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

An interesting premise but it was so convoluted it was difficult to follow. Many characters with similar names and going back and forth between timelines made the narrative clunky and awkward. This is marketed as teens but reads more for 11-14 market.

Review originally posted on The Bibliophile Chronicles.

I wanted to like this book. I thought it would be a light and fun read that I could enjoy over the weekend, but it just wasn’t for me. Ada and her mum are entering a competition to create a robot with the most human intelligence, meanwhile there’s a band of wizards from the past (who were almost wiped out by a group of time travelling robots who are being mind controlled by a force known as the Spawn), hellbent on stopping them from creating it. Meanwhile in the future The Spawn have wiped out almost everyone and only the remaining few robots at the Hadron collider can stop the Earth being destroy completely. Confused yet?

I feel like Wizards and Robots had some potential. I really liked Ada and her mum. Ada is the strong techy girl who I thought made an excellent protagonist, but the story had too much going on for me to get to know her as well as I would have liked. The wizard aspects I felt had potential too, but with so much ground to cover the reader doesn’t get the chance to understand the magic systems in play.

The science and technical aspects of the story are clearly very well researched and I enjoyed those aspects of the story, but I otherwise struggled to finish this book. Particularly the last section of the book, which heavily focuses on action sequences and then what felt like a bit of a rushed ending. If you’re a fan of science fiction and like a mash up of ideas you might really enjoy this one, but it just wasn’t for me.

Sara Luring is the founder of robot's, the age-old foes of wizards. The wizards have sent a team to hunt down Sara and stop robots from being created. Geller, a wizard and Ada Luring, Sara's daughter must learn to work together with the robots to change the past and secure the future. But they don't have much time before a mysterious enemy launches its attack on Earth...

As a pre-warning, I've tried to be objective but I found this book very difficult to read due to it being a really poorly formatted e-book arc. This means I was (extra) irritable when things I dislike came up. The first thing that irritated me was the love at first sight. Without speaking to the other person, or even actually meeting (She is watched through a video) there's a romance in this book. This is both unrealistic expectations for a children's book and also slightly creepy. There was also no development upon meeting - it seemed like the authors had thought they needed a romance and just dropped them into the pairing with no lead up to feelings.

WaR made a good effort for merging the Sci-Fi and Fantasy genre and made good points as to how and why technological advancement and magic can be contained within the same world. I enjoy how they are linked to one another, but I'm still confused about what and who Spawn are. I think the focus on wizards and robots overshadowed the plot line in places and some plot points were dropped. It also maybe took on a bit too much from each genre. It was a very packed book full of tropes (Robots can't harm humans they're programmed!) and aspects from the genre's that just clustered into the pages.

The main story arc was clearly thought out in terms of main events and timelines and it does tie together into a bow at the end. But there was a lack of development outside the main story arc. I also didn't feel it was that original except that the characters had been made into robots or wizards. I couldn't quite put my finger onto which book it reminded me of, but it was reminiscent (for me anyway!). The ending also seemed rushed and left you feeling a bit anticlimactic.

Positives
+ Good effort for merging Sci-Fi and Fantasy

+ Storyline merges and ties into one another

Negatives
- Love at first sight (and no development)

- Felt rushed into the ending

- Actual plot didn't seem all that original

- Includes too much from both genres - a clutter of a book

I don’t normally read YA books but this is Will.i.am who has to be one of the coolest guys on the planet! Sighs. If only I was ten years younger. Oh ok then then twenty🤣. There were so many brilliant ideas in this book as you might expect, such as the hoodie that became a bike helmet and the super charged bike. The story switches between 1489 and Predjama castle, 2052 in Florida and 3019 in Rio and Switzerland. In 1489 the castle was overwhelmed by iron men, in Florida we meet Ada one of the central characters whose mother was creating an AI known as Hawking and in 3019 the earth had been attacked and destroyed by the Spawn. The story time travels between these three periods. Along the way we meet wizards such as Geller, Cavelos and Malum, robots such as Kaku and AI’s as well as CERN. Whilst the characters are a bit one dimensional and the dialogue is a bit simplistic it is an excellent story which I think would appeal to reluctant readers especially since it has the Will.i.am element. I think it would probably are an absolutely terrific film.

From my review at motherbookerblog.com:

"Okay so, spoiler alert, Wizards and Robots is a YA book about wizards and robots. I know, I know. It’s a shocking piece of information but it was going to come up at some point in this review so we might as well get it over with as soon as possible. WAR is set in the year 2052 where robots are starting to become standard tech for everybody. Everything is run by computers and there are security drones constantly policing the skies. We meet Ada Luring, a teenage tech-wiz who is obsessed with AI technology. Her mother, Dr Sara Luring, is attempting to create a robot that is able to surpass human intelligence for a competition. Unbeknownst to the Lurings, they are both about to become embroiled in the battle that has secretly been raging since 1489. A castle in modern-day Slovenia was attacked by a group of ‘metal men’ who destroyed the a book of sacred magical texts. The text contained the secrets of the wizard race who were forced to go into hiding when the book was destroyed. Hibernating underground, the wizards vow to one day prevent the rise of the robots.

In other words, we’re dealing with The Terminator meets Harry Potter with a bit of Back to the Future time travel thrown in for good measure. And, I’ll be honest, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. As you know, I always have my doubts about YA fiction in general but YA science-fiction tends to be the most clichéd of the lot. The general formula seems to be you just make up a bunch of science words and talk a lot of jargon and go crazy. Which this kind of is but there’s something about it that works. It has a sense of reality about it that gives the story a sense of expertise. It keeps everything grounded enough that event the most ridiculous elements seem forgivable. Either that or it’s just so much fun that you don’t give a shit that it doesn’t make sense.

There is a fair bit of time travel at play here so the narrative jumps between eras. We see action take place in 1489, 2052 and 3019 throughout the novel. I’m normally not a massive fan of books that do this because it seems like a really obvious and lazy way to create tension. And I’m not going to say that the time travel in WAR doesn’t take place at conveniently cliffhanger-y moments but the story goes at such a pace that it doesn’t matter in the end. Plus, it’s always super obvious how everything is going to turn out anyway so the cliffhangers don’t really have any impact on you anyway. The time jump just gives you a bit of a break before the inevitable happens.

Of course, the greatest thing about this book is the title, which is a “does exactly what it says on the tin” kind of deal. Just like Snakes on a Plane defied its basic title by being an extremely fun watch, this novel is entertaining. It’s just not necessarily very good. There is a lot going on in the narrative and most subplots lack depth and are mostly left unresolved. There are some strands that really go nowhere and just take valuable time away from the main story. There is a story-line surround a group of anti-AI protesters that had so much potential but is just wasted and totally dropped when the action steps up.

None of the characters in this novel feel very well-developed. Neither of our two leads, Ada and Gellar, the world’s last wizard, have an awful lot about them. They both just seem like classic YA stereotypes supplanted in a world of robots. Ada is shy, bookish, a bit of tomboy and dealing with the death of her father. Gellar is sheltered, desperate to prove himself as a man, and mourning his mother. We’ve seen these characters before and we’ve seen them done better. But it doesn’t really matter. This isn’t really a story about them. They merely move the action forward.

This is a story about the concept of wizards fighting robots and, provided that’s a sentiment that excites you as much as it did me, then you’ll enjoy this book enough. I won’t pretend it’s the greatest read but for what it is, YA sci-fi written by one of the Black Eyed Peas, it’s an interesting one. You can’t spend too long thinking about things or you’ll never be able to get through it. However, it’s the perfect way to shut yourself off. And, most importantly, it’s a quick and easy read. It gets better as it goes along but there is a definite drop off at the end. I mean the ending isn’t quite recent Stephen King bad but there it is a sense that nobody really knew how to end it. Still, it’s worth a read. I mean it’s wizards and robots for God’s sake."

This was just the most fun. You need to suspend disbelief a little going into this book because there is a lot going on and if you think too hard about it, it may stop making sense. But honestly I was so pleasantly surprised by how well put together this story was. And besides - I actually love reading something wacky and out there with everything happening because I read to escape to other worlds and this was a very different world!!

There are quite a few jumps in time, parts of the story are set in the past, or the present or the future but they all felt distinct and never got confusing. It felt almost cinematic in that I could picture every setting as it was written. The majority of the book takes place in the present - the main character's present anyway (2052) and I thought this was really well developed. I definitely got a good sense of the technology of the time and it even felt achievable, as if this could very well be our future (I don't know about the wizards but robots definitely seems feasible).

Ada and Geller were strong main characters. I did find I was more attached to Ada than to Geller but that is, perhaps, because she had the more relatable life. I don't have a home AI or a robot little brother but I did go to school and have friend drama. I have not, so far in my life, had to fight a magical duel or had a tyrannical wizard for a father so Geller's life definitely felt less relatable. He was however a good person and had a strong voice which made his sections just as great to read.

The plot jumps around a little. As I said there is a lot going on and some of it doesn't get a full explanation here - still waiting to learn what the heck is up with the Malum?? But for the most part it made sense and I even managed to wrap my head around the time travel which is a pretty good sign since that usually messes me up. The drama and action was pretty much nonstop throughout so there wasn't as much of a build as I would have liked and the final confrontation was over relatively quickly when I would've loved to have seen more of that.

Overall though, this was a really fun, unique and exciting read and I am very much impressed by it. According to Goodreads this is a standalone novel but I'm really hoping that changes. Not only would I like more of these characters - I would also really, really like to learn more about the wizard side of things since this book was focused more on robots.

Ever since I heard at YALC that Will.i.am was bring out a YA book I was really intrigued to read it.

When a man called Geller break into Ada Lurings home and tells her that he is a wizard, and he has come to save her life. Ada finds it very hard to believe;

He is a Wizard
A Group of Wizard are coming to kill her and her mother for creating the first true Robot.
Geller quickly convinces Ada that what he says is true, and rush off to save her mother. Things start to become even weirder when trying to escape the evil wizard a Robot comes from the future to protect Ada. He believes that she is the key to saving the future world from the spawn. Ada, Geller and the Robots must learn to work together to save the people Ada care for as well as the future world.

This book is fast paced, like really faced paced it feels like you reading a book at 100 miles per hour. This doesn't surprised me as one of the author is Will.i.am and I feel like his brain and imagination must always be going at 100 miles per hour.

The book takes place is three different periods of time and it jump from one period of time to another. At the beginning I wasn't sure how it was all connected but as the book continues it starts to make sense. I would like to read more about the past the impact the Wizards had on it.

This book has both science fiction elements with the Robots and fantasy with the wizards, I found that I preferred the robot characters more than the wizards. They felt more well-rounded, where most of the wizards are they to be one of the main antagonist.

My favourite character in the book  is Kipp Ada Robot, he is kind loyal and clumsy. I feel like I met a kindred spirit in Kipp with his ability his balance issue and walking into things. (Falling over thin air is my special gift.) I would Kipp to be my robot.

The book ended in a way that make be believe that this may not be the last we hear from the world of Wizard and Robots.

If you like quick paced Sci-fi fantasy book I would give this book a go. This book has a lot going on in it, so be prepared.

I give this book 3.5 out of 5

Oh my goodness!
This book was amazing! I can’t even fully comprehend everything right now!

This book takes place over 4 time periods, 1489, 1502 (?), 2052 and 3010, but predominantly 2052.

The beginning (first chapter / 12ish pages) was a little confusing, but the more you read of the book, the more it makes sense because the past is the present is the future.

The opening chapter was fully action packed, but the tone and pace completely changes when you get to chapter two and it just keeps you completely engaged.

The book as a whole was amazing, I didn’t predict the ending at all, but was coming up with so many theories all the way through the book and it was just so fun.

The concept of this book was so intriguing because it combines so many different aspects of fantasy and sci-fi, whilst also using the chosen one trope - wizards and robots are in a massive war and they’re both looking for the same girl - Ada Luring.

I found the wizard and the 2052 sections more interesting than the robot sections, but I see why they are all so important to go together. The way that the whole novel is constructed must have taken so long to plan, with the past and future fusing together to form the future.

I love the character of Geller. I find him so interesting and his character development was so strong. I also really love Kipp. He’s so sweet, bless him.

I really hope that they turn this into a series, because there is so much more they can do, especially after the ending and what happened with Lilli. I would love to see the characters develop more!

10/10 would recommend to anybody! It’s a YA, but I would say that it’s suitable for younger because the content isn’t that mature.

Also, side-note, I really liked the dedication in this book (to the next generation, you are our future). I just thought that it was really nice.

This is a children's book therefore it is short. The concept is one of a world (our world effectively) in which there is magic (wielded by Wizards) and also Robots (who have come from the future).

The main characters are a schoolgirl named Ada Luring (and her mum Sara) and a boy wizard named Geller (son of the Wizard Elder).

Geller has been asleep for 500 years and his nightmares have awoken him. His father sends him on a mission with a group of Wizards aiming to destroy the 'first robot'. Things don't go to plan and Geller is left behind by the other wizards. He escapes, with help, and returns to the underground hideaway of the wizards. He discovers the existence of Ada and is drawn to her.

Ada is a 'techno-nerd' and doesn't fit in at school. Her mum is trying to build the first intelligent robot to win a competition, which means Ada doesn't get much attention from her, so has 'free reign' on how she goes about her daily routine.

The robots need to save the world in which they exist, in the future. They need the help of Ada and ultimately Geller. Somehow the book contrives to get them all together to give them this chance.

The story is quite fast paced, so although it is short, you do get your story's worth. I would certainly recommend it to young school children. It may even encourage some weaker readers that enjoy wizard or robot stories, particularly as it has will.i.am as one of the authors.

The only off putting thing I found was the numbers at the start of EVERY line, even if mid-sentence. It may well be that it was because it was a proof copy, in which case, it shouldn't affect anyone reading the final version.
