I read it along with an audio from Scribd. Because of that, this book was easier to understand that the others that didn't have audio available for me here in Brazil. After Neil Armstrong reached the moon, the text ended soon and the final was abrupt. That's why I didn't give it 5 stars.

Very good book

This was a book to get a personal look at the life of this man an astronaut. Sometimes we forget they have a personal life like we do with the same problems and stresses. I did learn a lot from this.

Not knowing anything about Neil Armstrong besides his famous quote, I had a lot of fun learning about him.

He always wanted to be a pilot and fought in the Korean War with honors. After he was married but before he joined the space program his daughter died. Reading between the lines, it seems that it was a very tragic moment for him, but he didn't let it stop him.

While he was training for space, his house burned down. I don't know why but that fact really got to me. It's just so shocking and random. The other astronauts lived nearby and one ran to help. That astronaut later died in a fire. Very sad.

While reading I thought a lot about the guy flying the space ship while Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong landed on the moon. I felt kind of bad for him because he gets forgotten. I even had to go look up his name again. His name is Michael Collins.

Who was Neil Armstrong by Roberta Edwards is an interesting informational book that explores the famous life of Neil Armstrong.Niel Armstrong was born on August 5, 1930, on an Ohio farmhouse. He was the oldest of his siblings and his mother's pet. Neil was fascinated by airplanes and flying since he was a little boy and flew on a Tin Goose airplane when he was six, he enjoyed every minute. Neil was an above average student, not top, and loved to read. Neil attended Purdue University on a Navy scholarship which meant he had to serve in the Navy. Niel was able to fly planes in the Navy and graduated from flight training school. Niel married and had kids, but then began the space race. The Soviet Union put a man in space first and America was challenged. In 1962, NASA looked for more astronauts who met the qualifications, Niel was one of them. Neil was one of the nine men chosen by NASA to become an astronaut. Neil was launched into space on the Gemini 8 in March of 1966. He was the command pilot on the mission that went wrong. In January 1969, Neil was named commander of Apollo 11, the trip to the moon. On July 16, 1969, Neil and his crew launched into space and landed on the moon on July 20. He returned home and died on August 25, 2012. I recommend this book to any interested in Apollo 11 or Niel Armstrong.

These biographies are intended for young readers, and are great entry points into the lives of key historical figures. It was the Who Was…? series that made me very interested in Leonardo Da Vinci and Albert Einstein as a child, but I must say that this book on Neil Armstrong is the best out of the books I have read in the series. A very quick-paced book, and you walk away from it with admiration at the effort NASA put into landing man on the moon.

The book who was Neil Armstrong, By Roberta Edwards was a cool book and was very interesting. It was a cool book because I learned some cool facts that I didn’t know about him. One of the interesting facts was Neil was able to attend purdue university in indiana on a Navy scholarship. Another Interesting fact was that that he got his pilot license for Navy Aviator at the age of only twenty years old. That was my book report on Who was Neil Armstrong.

I give this book only 3 starts because I don't like reading about space. But I read this book because it was time I read more non-fiction. It was great that Neil Armstrong took the risk to go all the way to the moon. It's awesome that he was the first one to set foot on the moon.

Who was Neil Armstrong is a wonderful book. Instead of just talking about what he did as a adult it talked about what he did as a child. When he was a child he loved planes, he loved them so much that he worked at a job just so he could get flying lessons. HIs hard work paid off because he got his pilot license before he was 13! When he became an adult he decided that he wanted to be a space captain and be the first person on the moon. While he was in training he found out that his wife was pregnant with a girl. When she was born they named her Muffie. 2 years later Muffie was taking to the hospital and they found out that she had a brain tumor and couldn't help her. 1 week later Muffie died. 2 months later Neil was titled the first person on the moon he did it all for Muffie. I would recommend this book to everyone.

The genre of the book is a children's biography novel and is meant for ages eight to twelve. The book describes the life and accomplishments of astronaut Neil Armstrong. I rated the book a five because i think any type of biography book is essential for a child's education and especially like this book because it approaches the subject in a way that is very simple and easy to follow. The pictures are really detailed and help to show the different aspects of his life in a real time and shows the significance of his achievements and the work that went into his life. The only thing i would critique about the pictures would be the addition of color. Other than that everything was very well written and drawn. I would gladly use this book for a history lesson because history can be a difficult subject to broach and this book seems like an easy way to introduce the topic

I think this book was cool but boring. It was boring because it had stuff I already knew about but it was good because it taught me stuff I didn't know about. Somethings I learned are Neil got his license to fly before he got his drivers license at age 15. His daughter died of cancer. He signed up to be an astronaut partly because he wanted something to take his mind off of his daughters death. He had some near death experiences while practicing being an astronaut. His house in Texas burned and he lost a lot of photos of his daughter. He also thought about what he was going to say when he stepped on the moon.

This was my biography book. It was a quick read. It was a very interesting book with lots of great information about the United States and the Soviets battling to get a man to space and to the moon. It also had a lot of information about Neil Armstrong. Like how he was in the army and how he became an astronaut. It is a great book and I recommend it.

Good book for elementary students or ESL students to dive into longer biographical works. This is more of a short story than a book due to the brief length. The black and white illustrations support the text well to keep a new reader engaged. For an experienced reader, this book will be a bit dry and very short.

My son really enjoyed this book, we learned lots of information. My kids read many space books, especially about Apollo 11, and very few mention Michael Collins. I was pleasantly surprised that this children's book included him.

The book also has great illustrations and diagrams, as well as mini information pages about other missions and people.

I liked the book a lot. The best thing about the book I liked was because he was the first man who put his foot on the moon. I was sad when I read that he died on August 25, 2012.

I recommend people to read this book.

These little books divulge a lot of information, stuff that was classified at the time. They didn't share much of anything with "Joe Public" and some people still think it was a televised stunt in a studio. This was before color televisions. We all saw it in black and white.

I read this with my daughter and she loved it! She wants to be an astronaut when she grows up. She was very inspired and so was I. It was very well written. There was tragedy in his life but he was also very resilient and persevered. Highly recommend for young children.

Almost EVERY one of the books in the "Who Was...?" series have problematic content. Parents should BE CAREFUL and pre-read the books. Not all aspects of an adult life need to be exposed to elementary-age kids. Leave a little something for college students to discover!!

It was a really good book. It told the drama of the crew, and the adversity’s of Neil’s life. If you want to learn more about the life of an astronaut this is where to look. This is one of my top 5 favorite Who Was books. I recommend this to readers 9 and up.

I think Neil Armstrong's life was pretty interesting. But most people only know he was the first man on the moon. And his training for the Apollo 11 mission was pretty cool.

An elementary level biography of astronaut Neil Armstrong. Loved learning his famous quote when stepping on the moon was not his original phrasing.
