It's love at first sight when Luke sees a stray puppy out in the snow. Luke's parents won't let him keep Snowy because they're already looking after Grandpa's dog while he's in hospital, but Christmas day brings an unexpected surprise.
Prolific author of animals stories for younger children, in particular dog and cat stories. As well as a Puppy Tales and Kitten Tales series she has written the Pony Tales series of pony books.
There is some speculation that the author does not actually exist but is a psuedonym for another author or authors. One author mentioned as writing under the name of Jenny Dale is Liss Norton, who incidentally is also said to be one of the ghostwriters for the Lucy Daniels Animal Ark series.
This is a lovely short chapter book about a stray puppy who ends up all alone when his two companions get captured and taken to the dog pound. A little boy finds the puppy and takes him home but then his family decide to take him to the dog pound but they didn't have anymore room so the family decide to keep him. This book is a lovely story about luck and fate.
A stray puppy gets taken in temporarily by a family with too little room for a second dog in their home but lots of Christmas spirit in their hearts. I couldn't quite connect, but kids will probably like the simple, straightforward story.
"Snowy the Surprise Puppy" was a good, short chapter book. The book was about a stray puppy who became friends with two older dogs and followed them. The dogs told stories to Snowy and explained holidays. One day the two older dogs got caught. By caught I mean they got taken by an animal shelter. After that, the dog was rescued by a little boy and his family.
Not many events make up this story as it was a short book, but I will list the major events. Snowy was a lost puppy who lived in the wild with two adult stray dogs. The big dogs told Snowy about holidays and what it's like in the dog pound. One day the two dogs were picked up from the pound but they left Snowy. A little boy found Snowy and took him to the pound, but the pound didn't have enough room for him. To make a long story short, Snowy ended up living with the little boy and his family.
Characters of the story were: Luke, his parents, his grandfather and the other three dogs. One dog was Luke's grandpa's and the other two were strays. The stray dogs went by the name Barney and Beano. The main characters are Snowy and Luke. Snowy is a young puppy that is a stray. He is an energetic dog who just loves to have fun. Luke is a young boy who instantly loves Snowy when he meets him.
The setting of the story takes place in late December, just a few days before Christmas. A year is not given in the story, but it was Snowy's first Christmas.
The author's message I received is keep your head up and look for an opportunity. At first the puppy was happy because he had the two other stray dogs as friends, but then he became sad when they got taken by the animal shelter. After that the puppy ran into a little boy who took the puppy into his home. The puppy was happy until the family took him to the dog pound, which caused the puppy to be sad. When the dog found out it could stay it became very happy. Another theme that could be taken from the story, is good things come to those who wait.
I rated this book two stars out of five. The reading is very simple, but also enjoyable. I would recommend this book to middle school students both boy and girl, or high school students who need a quick read. Overall, this book was an easy, but good read.
Snowy the Surprise Puppy is a very good book that is written by Jenny Dale. I really enjoyed this book. It has a lot of happiness and some humor in it. The puppy is very small and happy in the book. I enjoy happy books.
This book is about a puppy named Snowy that doesn't have a home and lives in a shelter. As the story progresses Snowy meets a boy named Luke who finds him outside of the shelter. Two other dogs tell Snowy how nice it is being in a family on Christmas day. Snowy is not supposed to stay with the family that night but the family does not want to take her home right now. My opinion on this book is that it shows very good characterization and, the setting is where it needs to be.
This book is told through third person. Snowy experiences many ups and downs in this book. Luke who is the one who wants to keep Snowy has to try and beg his parents to let Snowy stay. Cassie who is another dog in the book, lives with Luke's family and is very depressed. Cassie is depressed because she never gets to see her owner, which is Luke's grandpa. Luke's parents do not want Snowy because they already have Cassie.
The setting takes place in a small town in the United States. The time is around Christmas in the early 2000s. The time it takes place is important because, Snowy is a late Christmas gift for Luke. The house Snowy is in is very comforting. Snowy enjoys the house because, she has never lived in a house before.
I would recommend Snowy the Surprise Puppy to middle school level readers.10 to 12 year old would really like this book. It is a very easy read that you can finish in a couple of days. Both males and females would enjoy this book. I would give this book a rating of three stars.

REVIEW----Snowy the surprise puppy ······················································ Personal response I understand that the home/family is very necessary for the people even a dog. Our parents are our first teachers, we learn how to love, serve, make a good relationship with other, etc. in the family, hence, it is significant for the children to have a family, they can’t grow grow up normally without the parent’s compassion.
The plot Snowy is a little homeless puppy who didn’t has the name at first, snowy has nowhere to go for Christmas, until it met it’s new friend Luke, he gave it a new name and took it home. Snowy loves it at luke‘s house. At first Luke’s parent didn’t allow it leave they wanted to send the Snowy to the shelter, but there are no place to feed Snowy, so Luke take Snowy back. At the Christmas, their grandpa brought Cassie---the another dog in Luke‘s house bake, so Luke has enough place to keep Snowy, finally Snowy has a home, it is not a homeless puppy anymore.
recommend In my opinion, this book is for the children who is in the primary school, because the word and the sentences in the book is very easy to understand and the theme in the book is plain, therefore it is better for children to read.

The story begins with Snowy being separated from his two dog pals. When Luke finds him, his family tries taking him to an animal shelter but the shelter is full. Luke's parents agree to let Snowy stay with them until there's an opening at the shelter because Luke's family already has a dog at home. Snowy is hopeful that Santa Claus will come and give him a family to live with forever. The large print and short chapters make this book a perfect fit for dog loving 1st, 2nd, and maybe some 3rd grade children. I thought it was a cute book for kids and loved its happy ending
I have recently read “Snowy the Surprise Puppy” written by Jenny Dales. This short chapter book is about a puppy that was found out in the woods by a little boy named, Luke. One day, Luke was calling for his grandfather's dog, Cassie, in the woods. Instead of Cassie coming out of the woods, a puppy full of snow came running out. He was so excited to see someone that had a treat in their hand. The poor puppy has been in the woods for a long couple of days. Luke convinced his mom to let him take the puppy home. He named the puppy Snowy. They arrived at home and found Cassie walking back to the house from the road. Snowy ate supper and so did Cassie, she thought Snowy ate super fast. Snowy got told by his dog friends from the woods, Barney and Beano, that Christmas is the time where you receive what you want the most. His dream was to be with a family for the rest of his life. Luke's dad told him that they would have to take Snowy back to the pound after Christmas. Then something amazing happened and Snowy was able to stay with the family and Luke.
The main characters in this book are Snowy and Luke. Luke is a little boy that loves his dogs. He lives with his mom and dad. Snowy is the puppy that Luke finds in the woods. He is a little puppy and can be held in a human arm.
The setting of this book is not specified, but it is during a modern Christmas time. The characters spend most of their time at their house or in the backyard. The author describes the atmosphere very well.
The message that the author is trying to get across is that Christmas is a time for giving and receiving. Luke received a puppy for Christmas and he gave Snowy his name.
I would recommend this book to a student who is in third or fourth grade. This book is for girls or boys. It is an easy read and easy to understand.
Personal Response: I think the book “Snowy the Surprise Puppy “was a good book. I liked how informational the book was, but I didn’t like how short it was. My favorite part was when Snowy got to stay with the family. The part I didn’t like was when Barney and Beano got taken by the truck.
Plot: The plot of the story is about a puppy and his friends get taken away. So he follows a road back to town, and gets picked up by a boy and his family. The family brings him home and feeds him. Snowy tries to see if he can stay with them for the rest of his life.
Characterization: Snowy is an optimistic puppy. Luke is a puppy lovin’ son of a gun. Bearny and Beano are old and wise dogs that get caught by the dog napper. Cassie is an older dog in the book who is depressed because her owner is sick.
Impacts of setting: I think that it is important that the book takes place during Christmas. It is important that it is during Christmas because families are more giving during the Christmas season. Also it was cold and snowy out so Snowy would have to have a place to stay. So they had to bring him home.
Thematic Connection: I think the theme of the book is never giving up on finding an owner. In the book Snowy’s wish is that during Christmas he will get an owner. So after Beano and Bearny get taken away, he starts walking to town. A family finds him and he gets to stay with them. Snowy is very excited about being able to stay.
Recommendation: I would recommend “Snowy the Surprise Puppy” to middle school level readers. Ten to Twelve years old would really like this book. Its an easy read that you can finish in a couple of days. Both genders would enjoy this book. I would give this book a rating of four stars.

His parents say he can keep him until Christmas, but they would not have room for him permanently because they were watching their grandpa's dog. Their grandpa was in the hospital. The setting of this story is not exact. It seems to take place during modern times. The location is mainly at Luke's house.
The theme of this story is everything happens for a reason. Luke found Snowy and gave him a home. Snowy was lucky to run into Luke and to be brought home.
