After discovering the seventh Brave and escaping her trap, the newly assembled Braves of the Six Flowers set off to fight the Evil God--only to find yet another Brave! With the clock ticking until the Evil God awakens, the seven set off into the Howling Vilelands with the impostor in their midst. A fiend appears, telling Mora her time is short. Not only that, but a commander of the fiends suddenly appears before the Braves. Could the seventh have something to do with it? Amid the chaos, a fierce battle begins!
Once again, i'm mindblown by new twists, revelations and the plot. This author is amazing wonder-man. I love his writing, his characters, his story. Once again, beautiful illustrations accompany the book by Miyagi, and they were done greatly.
I say, this series is outstanding. It's interesting, but it's greatest point is the complexity of the characters. Every single one of them have displayed interesting variety of emotions, fears, and character depth in general.
STORY:
You should, of course, avoid reading this part unless you read first book already. If you have, then proceed. I will still put some serious spoilers from the first book in spoiler brackets, so the newbies dont see them by accident.
After finding out who the traitor is, , and with Rolonia appearing, the story focus shifts on Mora, as the book is this time, mostly from her point of view. But now, once again, heroes are confused by the appearance of Rolonia, and everything starts again = instead of one, there were two traitors, one is known, and second one is, once again, among them. They are approaching deadline to Evil God's revival, and they have to make sure to find out who the seventh is. Then a Fiendappears and gives Mora the warning “You have no time.” In the meantime, Tgurneu appears, playing mind games with the heroes once again.
CHARACTERS:
This time, i won't write about each of them in different sections but all in one. As Adlet was cleared of suspicion in the first book, he takes on a role of leader and tries his best to solve this mystery. On the other hand, Rolonia, Saint of Fresh Blood, who has the power of healing, blood analysis and combat abilities using her improved whip, joins the group. Not to mention, she and Adlet knew each other for a while. Goldof fell into depression, and hardly speaks. Everyone else, except for Mora, acted as usual.
Mora is the focus of this book. We find out about her past, her family and friends, of the terrible circumstances that befell her, and this time, she has to make a choice that could either destroy them all, or save the world. The burden this time falls on her, and time is running out fast.
Tgurneu appears once again, once again getting fantastic ideas of how to screw with the minds of the heroes.
OVERALL:
This sequel was fast, well paced, full of action once again, and of course, full of mystery. Little teaser in the prologue will probably freak you out, because that's a very interesting way to begin the new novel. I couldn't put it down. And once again, thanks to the amazing translators!
Like vol 1 this opens with a scene from the last chapter.
I can't remember what I thought of Mora in vol 1, but after reading vol 2 I love her. She is not an idiot, is willing to take responsibility for her actions, unforgiving of her sins, and frankly a much more interesting character than Adlet.
Adlet still has scenes focusing on his thoughts and actions since he's the only one of the seven that is known not to be the seventh and his role seems to be to figure out the truth. But Mora gets a lot of scenes and is the main character of this vol. We learn about her past and her reasons for her actions in vol 1.
This vol also introduces the three bosses the Braves have to defeat before the final boss battle with the Evil God. I know they couldn't show their true power because they were worried about the seventh, but are they really going to be okay?
Looking forward to vol 3, I hope each vol keeps focuses on a different character.
Who is the Seventh?
Adlet - definitely one of the Braves
Mora - definitely one of the Braves
Hans - tentatively one of the Braves, when he died a petal no longer glowed implying he is a Brave, but Fremy brought up a legit point that may make it possible for him to still be the 7th. Though if she’s right how would that even work? Shouldn’t there be 7 petals then? If 5 Braves and the 7th die would the 6th Brave be left unsure they were a Brave? Of all the characters Hans is unique, as much as I love him, him being the 7th actually wouldn’t surprise me, just seem like a waste of an interesting character.
Chamo I have no idea, is she a Brave, is she the 7th, could she really pull off that kind of deception?
Goldof after it was revealed that the princess was working for the fiends and it was clear that Goldof wasn’t helping her I figured he wasn’t the 7th, but his mention of having to make a choice soon was suspicious (okay probably about whether he would help N or stay and fight with the Braves to defeat her), and it’s revealed in this vol that the princess is working for Dokka not Ts who the 7th is working for, so it’s possible they wouldn’t know they were both traitors.
Rolonia can’t see her as the 7th, seems too timid and too tied to Mora, but who knows
Fremy can’t see Adlet’s love interest as the 7th but her being half fiend makes her suspicious so who knows
I am loving this series so much! So, so, SO much. I love the manga, and I love the light novel although I do think the light novel is a notch above the manga! I've been so excited for this volume ever since I read the last page of the previous volume. The first volume just ended so perfectly and everything was wrapped up but DUN DUN DUUUUUUNNNN there was another twist and I've been in agony waiting for this volume!
So I went in to this volume anticipating epicness and more shocking twists and learning more about the characters. I was also hoping that the impostor was Chamo or Mora because after last volume I really didn't like either....I wasn't disappointed in one aspect, the other is more complicated!
Right. So. There I am, settled down, ready to read this in one go because I specifically made time to read this without interruptions! I open the page and I started to read and I'm confronted with....
...The awkward moment when the volume opens with your favourite character having been murdered. I may have shrieked. I may have sworn a little bit. I may have been completely devastated. Then my brain kicked in and I remembered how things went in the first book and I started to run through every single possible explanation and scenario. I was still wrong. Towards the end of the novel I started to guess/hope about the ending and I was correct but right from the start I was devastated and waiting to see why this all came about.
We have the new character of Rolonia joining our team this book. She knows Adlet and Mora and appears to be quite close with both. We actually got to know even more about Adlet and his past via her. She's timid at first but then incredibly scary in battle and the more I learned about her the more I had to admire how hard she worked to get to the stage she's at and how courageous she is.
This volume is quite Mora centric, so obviously we learn a tonne more about her and her past. It was interesting to have this insight in to her and it changed how you perceived her and her actions in volume one. You understand her a lot more. I'm still undecided on whether or not I actually like her. I understand her, I understand her actions, and I know she didn't really do what she was supposed to and she was actually quite intelligent about it but I'm still a bit wary of her. Although, thanks to Mora we got to meet a couple of other saints that I'm very curious about! I loved Marmanna best, she was hilarious. We need her on Team Brave!
Chamo I have to say is growing on me like a fungus. She's developing and changing and being a bit more grown up. She still irritated me more than once with her behaviour and how she acted but she is slowly, very slowly growing on me.
Interestingly enough we learn a tonne more about the Fiends and their hierarchy which is going to be important in the coming volumes. We learn aaalll about Tgurneu, Cargikk and Dozzu the three commanders who are running things...sort of. We get to meet the latter two briefly as well, which provided some interesting insight in to how things are running and some coming intrigues.
We get a nice chance of scenery too in this volume! Finally moving from the previous location to the Vilelands and the Bud of Eternity. We hear a lot more about the world too and I'm excited to get to see more locations. I feel like this series has some really brilliant world building and the settings and scenes are so vivid for me when I'm reading!
Rokka Volume 2 is a brilliant continuation to what's going to be an epic series. There's more history to the world and characters. There's another mystery or two rather, with lots of different threads to it. There's more intense battles, and I'm talking really intense battles which fit the fast pace perfectly. These volumes really do have a cracking pace and the world, characters and setting suck you in! It's truly one of my favourites, it always surprises me and blows me away when I read. We leave this volume with everything seemingly solved and ready for the next battle but then....it twists AGAIN! And we have one or two more threads to carry us over to volume three and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next, and how those plot threads continue!
Rokka is hands down one of my favourite series, and I genuinely look forward to every single volume!
Hopefully you aren't reading this review before reading volume 1. If so knowing that yet another Brave shows up at the end of vol. 1 so once again we've got 7 rather than six might be a bit of a spoiler.
Once again we have a situation that leaves me just wondering if I'll ever come to like any of the characters. Having finished I'm afraid the spoiler situation mentioned above has not been resolved so we're going into volume 3 in the same boat. That might be okay, except I am really getting tired of these people constantly distrusting one another. Though I get that they probably really would. Of course if any of them were actually likeable that might make things more bearable.
This volume is really more of the story of Mora and it's okay. As a parent I can appreciate doing some crazy things to save your child, but once again just didn't feel very empathetic. The fiend general Tgurneu (whose name I loathe) is also featured prominently in this volume. Mora sorts out something from her personal life but the Seven of them are still not much closer to discovering which of them is the counterfeit.
I'm going to read more -- two reasons, 1> I want to see if it actually gets better and 2> the series is complete so there are 6 volumes and that's it. So there is an end in sight. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy some ongoing things (many) but sometimes it is nice to see an actual ending.
Verdict -- if you're really into the story or the concept... or if for some reason you find yourself liking one or more of the characters this series may be for you. Otherwise, you could probably find something else more to your liking.
The exciting journey of Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers continues in this second novel, and it was a blast watching things unfold. Generally speaking, I do not enjoy stories starting in media res, and in this case, I felt that the beginning of this book spoiled the rest of the story in a way that wat not enjoyable. For the first half of the book, I found myself wishing I didn't know what had been revealed, and I feel that the book would have been better if that part was left out. I did, however, enjoy learning how the story got to that point and what justifications were made. The twists were suspenseful and fun, and the characters felt more developed and three-dimensional. More of the lore of this world and especially the demons was explored, but it never felt too much like an info dump. My biggest complaint, and the reason this book ranks only at three stars, is how the event revealed in the beginning affected the rest of the story. It felt inconsequential and like a cop-out, and after it was revealed early to have a huge emotional impact, it ended in such a disappointing and anticlimactic way. Despite its flaws, I adored reading this book, and I cannot wait to see how the rest of the series continues.
I found myself liking the book from around the middle towards the last pages. It was mind blowing and broke all my theories and how I thought I already knew it. I also liked the last fight and i wish I could see it animated. Which is why i give 3 stars
But
From the beginning of the book i was bored. The revelation of the ending killed the fun for me. Even if we already somehow know it. You read while you are knew everything feels like you are forcing yourself. But the author ofc has surprises on the way. Everything was definitely shocking. I’m excited to continue. And this book to me was much better than 1. It has less meaningless actions and more thoughtful one. Mora become my second favorite.
I was a bit fearful of starting this one, as book 1 had been so good! I don't think book 2 is better, but equally as good! One of the best light novel series around, mixing mystery with fantasy masterfully!
Book 1 had 2 challenges: - who is the 7th - how to take down the barrier
Book 2 expanded on that: - who is the 7th - what is Mora's plan (pretty predictable to be honest) - what is Tgurneu's plan (the cool part :) )
This story just gets better and better as the books continue. The answers to each question just creates more questions and more problems for the hero’s and their struggle to both push on and figure it out keeps you hooked. Add to that the expanding plot and how there is more to this world as you continue and it makes for an amazing immersive read. I will keep reading this series just to know the answer: who is the 7th?
I really enjoy the author's approach to making the book open with a scene from the end of the book which, on one hand, does spoil things if you like for the reveal to always be at the very end. This approach reminds me a bit of the Columbo detective tv show, which is fitting considering that Adlet has played the role of a mini-detective for the second book in the row. Still as excited and invested in the story and my opinion of some of the characters has improved since the last book.
Really awesome book, my first light novel and definitely a satisfying sequel to the anime I loved. Really great characters and introduction to Japanese light novels a great mystery, great characters, great villain and great conflict just a straight up 10/10 twist on the fantasy genre with an added mystery.
I'm so invested in knowing who the seventh is! Through the whole book that's all I was thinking about. At first I was thinking it was Adelet when they said the seventh might not know he was the seventh but then the fiend said to TELL the seventh... Soooo.... Maybe... Not him? I want to know who the seventh is!

This volume is the best one of the series in my opinion: the twist where jaw-dropping and the characters where just sooo interesting to watch I've never felt bored reading this book because the ratio between calm and frantic moments is perfect, I've never felt so fascinated reading a backstory in my life
A little slow in the middle but the climax was amazing. at first I didn't like the fact there there was still a seventh after the first book. I kinda thought that it was gonna be over and then a more normal adventure series was starting. but finding out that theres a seventh that isnt mora after this whole book was kind of entertaining.
4.5 stars I'm in love with this series. Mora is such a great character and I love that she had more protagonism in this volume. Adlet and Chamo weren't as annoying as before. Can't wait to read the next one.
Mucha intensidad y una puesta en escena excelsa por parte de los tuvieron ligeramente más protagonismo en este tomo, y al igual que el anterior atrapante
Even though it took a lot of time to read due to lack of time more than anything I really really enjoyed this book way more than the first one, Mora was a personal favourite of mine in the first light novel and the anime because of the cool design, the badass Saint power and the fact that she seemed to have a much deeper motive to be acting the way she did than what we knew of in the first light novel which I was right about as seen in this sequel.
The mystery of the whole thing is one of the best I've read recently, it's engaging, intelligent and insanely brilliant to see all the plot twists that Yamagata-sensei comes up with to make it into an even better story than it was a few chapters ago. Finding out about the ancient Kyoma and his controlling power was mind blowing. Finding out about the other two faction leaders so to speak was pretty interesting and I look forward to see what they'll do against the Braves.
After finishing the anime I was told that the second novel will have much more action than the first novel which was establishing the mystery and they were right. The fast paced action in this sequel was very cool to read about and it gave a much better understanding of the powers of the other characters this time around instead of mostly focusing on Adlet, who btw still got enough time to shine. Meeting and hearing about other saints was also something I really appreciated.
Mora is an amazing character, it's very interesting to see how far a mother would go for her child and this one didn't disappoint. As I was watching the anime and then reading the first volume it always felt like Mora was desperate to find the seventh and she always seemed to be in a hurry with the quick accusations. I finally learned why here and wow did it add more depth to her character than I expected, I mean she actually thought up of a way to kill and not kill a brave which tbh was genius. Since her daughter is safe now I'm looking forward to see how she'll contribute to their cause. While she may not be completely clear at this point she definitely lowered my suspicion of her.
Seeing the power of those saints, especially the saint of words was pretty badass, the power is insanely powerful as well. The Saint of Salt is another one that piqued my interest and I hope the coming novels will have more mentions of them. Picking up Rokka no Yuusha as my first ever light novel read continues to prove that it was an excellent decision.

Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers Book 2 continues the Seven Braves as they have escaped the area which they were trapped in from the last novel. After having discovered who the fake Brave was then, they learn that sadly, there is still a fake Brave in their midst as another Brave had been waiting for them outside of the barrier that they had been trapped within.
The group only have two weeks left until the Evil God awakens and they have a lot of challenges to face. Two fiend generals will stop at nothing to defeat the Braves and let the Evil God rise without incident, of course the two fiend generals don't work together, if anything they are also at odd against each other. If that wasn't trouble enough, with them still having an odd number, the group still can't fully trust each other without thinking that someone is going to stab them in the back.
This story is more focused towards the head Saint of the Mountains, Mora, who is in trouble herself in regards to the fiends and although she is a Brave, she is determined to find a way to save her own family and make sure that the Braves can continue onwards with their quest. The only problem is the fiend general she's dealing with is very smart and has her backed into a corner. She has to make a decision on what she really wants and time is running out, save her family or the Braves and linked to that, the world.
This novel was enjoyable to read, but the only problem I had with it was that at times you aren't sure who is talking, or how they are saying certain things, like were they tense, sad, teasing? And again who is talking? This could be a translation error, but I doubt it, the person translating it took a lot of time in the first novel, why wouldn't they do the same for this one? That's the main complaint I have for this novel at least, but it is still full of tension and deceit, you will be hoping the Braves get through this all right. The ending is... wow, the ending is good, book one was great but this one? This one was perfect and showed how much exactly is on the line for the Braves.
Continuing on from where the anime leaves off, this is a good jumping in point for thst audience. This volume starts with a bombshell, the announcement of the Seventh Brave and the death of a member of the Six Flowers.
This one focuses a lot more on our cover character, the powerful, mature beauty, Mora Chester. This character remains a bit infuriating, as she makes decisions and continues to have poor listening + reasoning skills. Believe it or not, Chamot comes out looking better than her this chapter.
We do get some light Fremmy development as well, along with lots more info about the structure of the demon army. By the end of the book, the sides are clearly set in this war.
In terms of art, it's still pretty well drawn, though I still don't know aboit starting a chapter with an image every time. Sometimes these serve as nothing more than spoilers.
Pacing was decent, the battles were visceral, and the twists were capable of being predicted at times, though the book also leads you astray at other instances.
I love how this novels start pretty strong, then they become a mystery, and reaching the end it's ACTION AND TWIIISTS. This book is mostly about Mora, and even if she's not one of my fav heroes, I think she's a good character. Anyways, I still love Adlet. And Hans.
Rokka No Yuusha or rather Six Braves of The single flower the story is really beautiful i liked mora and adlet-kun, however, the story is perfect genre : mystery , fiction if you like mystery , and discovering the imposter and adventures you must read this light novel
