Once upon a time, in the future…

Rarz or Razriel: An angel who is not exactly fallen or unfallen BUT he is still outside heaven and he is not allowed to return and he is still brutally punished with whipping even in times he least expects it.

Jedda: A gem elf who creates gems from her blood every time she bleeds and may be the reason for Rarz’s punishment, although truly she is a good girl with the best intentions. And Rarz does not believe that she is not a demon. Because angels know everything and he knows that elves definitely do not exist.

Rarz and Jedda will be crazy in lust with each other from the second they meet. Jedda will feel compassion for him and he will want to look after her. Rarz will think that there is no way Jedda is a ruthless thief. Could their feelings develop and these two lovely lonely beings fall in love?

It is amazing how greatly and brilliantly after so many years and so many books, the world building is still ongoing and the Demonica World is still expanding.

A new realm in this book (the elves realm), new interesting characters:
-A fallen angel, Shrike
-A few Memitim, Suzanne and Hawkyn
-An unfallen angel, Cipher (The Fabio wannabe)
-A few important dhampires, Galen, Rhona and Isla (the Wardens, the Triad)
-A lion shapeshifter who always comes back no matter how many times she dies, Lexi
-And Jim Bob of course, who is this guy?

And we visit both the Sheoul Gra, where Azagoth is still the badass boss (I absolutely love Azagoth!) and Scotland where the dhampires live. Dhampires are both vampires and werewolves –in case you don’t remember. In Sin Undone, Conall Dearghul was a dhampire.

Most of the times, I am speechless when I read about all these magnificent creatures/monsters that the imagination of Larissa Ione’s creates.

I just wish that we have again some full length novels. I always feel hungrier and unsatisfied when I finish her books lately. Not enough pages.

Favorite quote, which shows the sublime humor of the Demonica world:
“There’s a saying in Heaven,” he said lightly. “Angels keep their humor in their wings.”
“So when they get cut off...”
“So does their humor.” He shrugged. “Of course, fallen angels do grow wings eventually.”
“But their sense of humor doesn’t grow back?”
“Oh, it does. You just don’t want to be on the funny side of it.”

Razr is a fallen angel who failed in a mission years ago. Jedda is an elf with a gift for dealing with magical stones… and a secret. They have to work together to find some stolen gems that are a part of Razr’s past, and of course, have sizzling chemistry. This was a fun steamy Demonica novella!

Twisting, she looked over her shoulder at him, and in the glow of the nightlight from the bathroom, he was incredible. Passion and raw hunger lurked in his half-lidded eyes, his full lips parted on panting breaths, and she suddenly wanted that mouth on her body. Tasting her. Licking her. Kissing her

Have I mentioned how much I love Larissa Ione and her writing? Because man do I. SO HARD. Her world building is incredible. Her stories unfold in front of your eyes with the most stunning of visuals and I can never get enough. I've devoured her entire backlist and I love that she keeps giving us a taste of her Demonica world with these novellas.

And while this a somewhat short read at just around 120 pages, it's as satisfying as a full novel. I don't know how the woman is able to pack so much into those pages; the romance, the action, the mystery, the character development, all of it, but she does. And she does it WELL. I was hooked from the very first page.

Razr may say he's a fallen angel, but he hides a secret. A big one. He may be in Azagoth's service in the underworld, but he's also a man on the mission. He mistake in his past that cost him everything and the reason for his years of punishment is not just a haunting memory for him. It's a mistake that he continues to pay for and his salvation seems to be out of his grasp...until it isn't. Now he just needs to convince a female that may hold a deeper secret than him to help him locate it.

Jedda has a gift for finding precious gems. But her gift isn't one of luck; as a gem elf, it's essentially her life calling. When her gift lands her in some hot water with a fallen angel, trusting another one doesn't seem very smart...but there's just something about Razr that runs deeper than attraction.

Fans of this series are in for a treat with this one! Ione delivers her signature witty banter and steamy passion all wrapped around a totally addictive story line that's action packed from beginning to end. I loved the slow sizzle and burn between Razr and Jedda. I love Ione's heroines, because while having their weaknesses, these are not wilting wallflowers and Jedda was no exception. It was ridiculously cool to get a peek into the elfin world because that's not a species yet introduced in this super rich world building that the author has crafted. But as always, reading another installment has only whet my appetite and I already can't wait for more!

This Novella read is 120 Pages and is the story Of Razr and Jedda.
Razr is an Ex-battle Angel and is now the employer of the grim Reaper.
He is unique in as such he is not fallen or unfallen but bound until he completes the task required of him.
Years back Razr was tasked with wielding along with his triad a gem of Enoch and along with his fellow brethren lost them along with there bonded human charges.
Released from his prison but bound he is tasked with recovering the gem to reverse his punishment.
He also additionally tormented with six lashes every time his mark glows and the pain he feels escalates until the beating commences.
Jedda is a gem elf and she is also in possession of Razr's Gem.
This was a really imaginative read and I adored the addition of gem elves.
So here not only does Razr take his punishment when due he additionally torments himself with his own inner guilt.
Jedda wants to reveal her own part in his story but she is afraid especially as she has come to care for Razr.
This was again well written and an enjoyable read.

He was forced from Heaven for a mistake that cost his brothers their lives and the priceless gems that they carry. Razr is a fallen angel and he is determined to win back the use of his wings and re-enter the good graces of the Father, but first he must find his rare and beautiful diamond.

Jedda has a gift that mortals find uncanny, but for an elf, it is part of their nature. Rare and exotic gems call to her with their life-giving energy. Now Razr discovers that Jedda has the diamond he needs and she is not about to give it up. As the passion sizzles between these two they must learn to trust one another and become allies as opposed to deadly enemies. RAZR is filled with tension, mistrust and the urgency one fallen angel feels to redeem himself before it is too late. Feel yourself land in their world as Ms. Ione creates all of the atmosphere of a longer tome, plants enough energy to pull her readers in like a magnet and proves that short and sweet can be just as satisfying as a read four times as long!

Razr is an angel who was cast from heaven to work for Azagoth in hell until he can find at least one of the gemstones that he lost when his charge was killed. And while he's looking for the gemstone he also gets *punished* every so often with 6 lashes from someone in hell who does not hold back. The harsher the punishment, the longer he can go without getting another one.

Jedda is an Elf and has an affinity for gemstones and can find just about any of them. But she has a huge secret. So when Razr tracks her down and wants her to find at least one of the gemstones he's looking for that will get him back into heaven, she knows she can't give them to him but it takes a while for the *why* to come out.

Watching Razr go through these punishments all the time because the effects don't last very long, was really rough. It's probably my least favorite part of this book because it was brutal. He passes out so many times from the pain but because he's an angel he heals incredibly fast.

When Razr explains what the gemstones are and how he lost them, it was shocking to find out how Jedda was connected to the entire scenario. I wasn't sure how they were going to get through that but the fact that Razr was willing to just go about life as he had been to make sure she was safe melted my heart a bit. So I was happy to see how this book ended because it was great. If you've been reading this series you will want to read this novella as well. It was a great addition to the series.

Razr isn't quite a fallen angel but he's been banished from heaven as part of his punishment for losing 3 of their most powerful weapons, the gems of Enoch. Razr's team made a huge mistake that cost the lives of the humans bonded to the gems and he's been paying for it ever since. His only chance of earning his way back to heaven is to recover the missing gems but that is easier said than done when he is also tasked with helping Azagoth training the memetim.

Jedda is a gem elf who spends most of her time in the human realm. Her innate ability to sense gems from a distance make her the ideal person to track the gems of Enoch but unfortunately for Razr another fallen angel got to her first and her life is now at risk if she doesn't hand over the gems to his enemy.

Razr is the fourth novella in the Demonica Underworld spin off series, which focuses on characters living in the underworld. The earlier stories focused on characters we'd become familiar with from the main Demonica books but now we're starting to see the series branch off in a different direction and I have to say I'm enjoying seeing where this goes. The addition of gem elves just shows there is a lot more to this world still waiting for us to explore it and I absolutely loved finding out more about Jedda. Gem elves have some really interesting characteristics and abilities so I can't wait to see what else Larissa Ione has in store for us.

As this is a novella the romance between Razr and Jedda develops quite quickly but it didn't feel rushed because of the way events unfolded. I enjoyed spending time with both of the main characters and thought there was a great connection between them. There was a lot of action to go along with the romance so I flew through this story in double time. It was also nice to see a bit more of Azagoth and the other underworld based characters and I'm looking forward to seeing whose story will be up next. I think this series still has a huge amount of potential and its definitely one of my favourites!

I clicked for one and only reason which is Larrisa Ione!
It has been a while but her typical formula still works for me.

The typical bad guy who essentially get defeated by the tortured H and saves the h.

I like her unique world-building and pacing of the plot. The h was a little bland for me personality wise but I am not complaining. I still enjoyed her characteristics as well as the H's.

It works for me!

MAY 9TH UPDATE:
Loved it! How could I not. There is something about Larissa Ione's writing that just does it for me. I love revisiting this world she's created and it was really great to see yet another realm added to it.

This story was a short one. The two main characters were really cool, each in their own way. It is just too bad this story is so short. The premise as well as the players were interesting enough to nicely work this out as a full length book. Instead to get everything in, some concessions had to be made causing it to feel a little bit rushed in places. But I can't deny that part of my disappointment is the fact that we didn't get to spend as much time in this world as I would have liked. It was just too damned short... And did I mention how short it was? lol

4 stars!

The Demonica series is probably my all-time favourite paranormal series, so any new addition always has me scrambling to get my hands on it. And now Larissa Ione has introduced a whole new species to the Demonica universe – ELVES!

This is the fourth novella in the Demonica Underworld series, an off-shoot of the original books, featuring characters who live in Sheoul and Sheoul-Gra (the ‘hell’ realm and home of the Grim Reaper, Azagoth). These books don’t impact on the overall series story arc, but add depth to an already wonderfully complex and well-developed world, and I love any chance to revisit with these characters.

Razr was introduced in the last book of this series, Z. He is a fallen angel who lives and works in Sheoul-Gra as a punishment from Heaven, subjected to regular torture for a mistake that cost lives and lost priceless artefacts. Despite his circumstances, he has created a good life for himself and has good friends, but he is still desperate to return to Heaven and reclaim his wings, and if he can recover a missing gem, he will get his shot.

His search leads him to Jedda – a mystical creature with power that allows her to track down precious stones all over the world. She is the only one that can reclaim the gem for him, and when she is threatened by another fallen angel to hunt down the exact gem that Razr is looking for, he joins her on a mission which could finally bring him his freedom.

Razr and Jedda have insane chemistry from the very beginning. There’s a clear attraction and some sizzling (and imaginatively supernatural) sexy time, and the teasing and banter is fantastic as they get to know each other, learn about each other and share their worlds with each other.

“Tell you what. You prove you work for the Grim Reaper, and I’ll prove I’m an elf. Deal?”
“Deal.” Razr grinned, that killer one that made her ovaries clench. “Come on, Dobby. Let’s go.”

Things between them develop pretty quickly (as it has to in a novella), and I loved the two of them together. There’s fun and sex, but they also open up and share their painful pasts and their vulnerabilities, and I enjoyed the sweetness and emotion . But when secrets are revealed and ties from the past are uncovered, will the bond that they have formed be enough to survive the fallout?

Once again, Larissa Ione has created a fast paced, sexy, romantic, fun and intriguing story with a nice amount of action and all of the humour and intensity that I love about this series. I loved catching up with the other characters that inhabit the Demonica Underworld, and loved exploring the new part of the world as we get to know Jedda and learn the secrets of her race.

Short, fun and sexy and heavy on the paranormal, I loved it!

4 stars.

I freaking loved the new realm introduced in this book. We got elves!!

So I found out that Razr isn't actually a fallen angel. He's an angel being punished for a lapse in duty. His powers are mostly bound, he has to put up with torture on a regular basis, and he's not welcome in Heaven until he fixes his mistake.

Sounds easy compared to his fallen brethren who have less of a chance to make it back home.

Too bad Jedda isn't about to make things easy. She and her sisters stole the gems that Razr and his team were protecting and taking the gem back would kill her. Oh and there's a vicious fallen angel who also wants a piece of her.

I really didn't know where this story was going, but I enjoyed all of it. It's a novella so it all wrapped up quickly and my only complaint was that I didn't get to spend more time with this couple.

Title: Razr
Author: Larissa Ione

4 unexpected stars

Well crap. Now i wish i had read each and every single book of the Demonica Underworld series from Larissa Ione. The last book i read from her happens to have been a previous Demonica novella from the 1001 Dark Nights lineup and i won't lie, i should have started back then, but the life happened and now i'm in my current predicament: at the 12th book in the series and still no further into it than the two books i've read so far. Needless to say that... wow. I'm astonished at how much i'm sure i've missed and yet didn't get the full face slap i would have expected in missing as much. I was still able to follow the gist of the story since it did explain the world of Demonica, but it didn't focus on it, rather bringing you to fall for Razr and Jedda and their battle for a cursed gem and their feelings for one another without destroying each other in the process.

4.5 sexy dreams

It was a quick read, which i'm not sure if i'm disappointed about it or relieved - why? Because i can only imagine was a full length novel would hold as information about everything that surrounds the Demonica Underworld. It must be a truly fascinating world, and one that will leave your reeling because that's what happened to me after reading this book. It was captivating and intriguing to say the least but it also got me wondering what else i missed. Is it really important to start from the very beginning to get the bigger picture? That's what i'm left debating and to figure out on my own while i can't praise another great addition to the series and 1001 Dark Nights lineup!

It's always nice to be back in the Demonica world. I've been enjoying this mini series set in the Underworld and RAZR expands the world into the elf realm. This story was really cool and different!

Razr is an angel, not quite fallen but punished by Heaven and working in Hell until he can finish a mission he was part of. In order to get back to Heaven he needs to retrieve the missing Gems of Enoch. He finds one now belongs to Jedda and sets out to get the stone from her since it rightfully belong to him to begin with. But things are, as expected, more complicated than that. Larissa Ione always stands out for putting two people together that seem it would be impossible for them to work out a happy ending. And she does it effortlessly. I always look forward to her stories because of that and this was no different.

Jedda is a gem elf and she actually needs that gem to stay alive. What a clever addition to this set of creatures and a new realm to explore. And this book was the perfect place to put her in. I enjoyed Jedda's character a lot. She's not the tough heroine I'm used to loving, but she's still smart and witty and she has a soft and nurturing side as well. The Razr and Jedda relationship develops quite quickly and I thought they were adorable together. Not so much an explosion, but a sweet simmer.

While I miss the original setting of this series and UG, I always enjoy expanding the world and getting to know other players. I would love to see them mix and mingle a little bit more in the future... and I'm very curious about Billy Bob! Bring on the next one, I'm always ready for more from Ms. Ione.

Razr was kicked out of heaven after causing a catastrophe that killed a lot of people. Now he has a chance of getting his wings back, but he needs the help of Jedda, a gem elf. Yes, that's right. An ELF!! 😮

This novella was a complete surprise for me. While the world is familiar, it also feels brand new because the author expands the world to include an elf realm!!

At first, I was nervous because it felt like there was too much happening for a novella. There was the main conflict regarding Razr's missing gem. And on top of that, there was a lot of world building to introduce elves and the elf realm to the reader. I wasn't sure how the author would fit all of this into a novella, but it was actually really well done. The pacing was perfect — not too slow, not too fast.

It's interesting how Jedda's knowledge of the demon realm is so limited. It's also interesting that most angels and demons don't actually know about elves. Which would explain why elves were only introduced now.

Overall, I really enjoyed the plot and the romance in this one. They both took me by surprise. I also enjoyed Jedda and Razr as characters. The theft of the gem played an important role in their relationship and I like how the gem also created space for the fated mates trope.

There is one unresolved matter: Darlah's missing bracelet. But I'm guessing this may become relevant later on in the series?

P.S. Azagoth gifting them a crystal dildo 💀

I so love this series. There is just something about that keeps drawing me to it. I'm not sure if its the writing, maybe the characters could be the characters, or it's all three. All I know is that it works for me and that makes me happy!

Oh Razr, how I feel for you. One mistake and....

You will just love him. He's so stand offish, or least he is with everyone but Jedda. Some things are just meant to be.

The interaction between these two are both touching and just so much fun. That moments she realizes what she's done to him will break your heart. You will love her for what a sweet elf she is. Even though helping him could/will mean her death she will do what she can to help.

Their ride isn't a easy one, but it's one that they both fight to be on. I love their story and found that it ended so well.

If you haven't read this series then you really need to. This is perfect beach reading material. You won't be able to put the books down.

Well, for the love of me, I can't remember when Razr first introduced into Demonica series. If anyone know when, please tell me.

For the record, from all Demonica Underworld novella, I just re-read Azagoth (and I believe there's no Razr). I skip re-read Hades and Z, since I don't have much time. Also I remember back then both novellas just left an okay-ish impression :P. Especially Zhubaal, lol. As for the heroine, Ione introduced a new character with a new race. Not human, not angels, not demons, Jedda is an elf. More precisely, a gem elf. I don't think that to introduce elf is weird. If vampire and werewolf alike exist in Demonica world, why not elf? Also, I find the concept about gem elf is unique. Their appearance ofc seems elfish, but they have a special diet which consist of gem stones. I like that Ione write the detail about the elf, their realms, and their gem connection with care. I wonder if there's any elfkind beside gem elf. Plus point to mention Rivendell, Pandora and Na'vi. It amused me to read all that pop cultures.

What I don't like is....how Razr and Jedda's relationship work so fast. Too fast for my liking perhaps. I know, I know, this kind of insta-lust is a common trope in romancelandia, esp the paranormal ones. Heck, even Rev and Blaspheme in "Revenant" also work fast, not forget to mention Azagoth-Lilliana, and Idk how many. I just think Razr-Jedda kinda jump to each other..too fast :P. I feel that, maybe because this is novella, the way Razr can forgive Jedda's mistake (and by mistake, it's pretty much colossal since ) so easily make me go "huh?". IMHO, Jedda do nothing to earn Razr forgiveness in a first place tho, not like what Lilliana did with Azagoth (and boy, the way Ione handle how Lilliana groveling is good). It's like Ione said "oh well, Razr, Jedda, it's not good to always dwell in the past. Time to moving on and go jump to each other". That just some nitpick that I don't like. The rest is okay tho. Although, the attraction between Razr and Jedda mainly because of the gem first and their problem solved in deus ex machinae plot, at least I got my happy ending. As for the steamy scenes, nah, Ione never ever disappoint if you get my meaning :P.

A nice addition to Demonica Underworld, and well Razr at least better than sulky Hades or Zhuubal, hence the rating. I also want to know who is Jim Bob, Azagoth's angel informant that still have his identity revealed. He must be in higher position in Heaven, since he knows everything. I assume he will play an important role in the future.

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Larissa Ione, comes RAZR, a passionate and spellbinding novella from the Demonica Underworld Series, brought to you by 1,001 Dark Nights ! Be sure you grab your copy today!

The characters of Larissa Ione's newest release, Razr, are definitely different from what we are used to in the Demonica world. Jedda is a gem elf and excuse my memory if I'm wrong here, but I hadn't heard of these creatures mentioned before. It made a lot of sense seeing how gems have so many different qualities just like personalities. I found the descriptions of how the stones worked for the gem elves really interesting. Absorbing the energy from a stone made perfect sense to me, but actually absorbing the stone into your body (not the way a certain character found his), was different. I felt the same way about the gems leaking from Jedda in tears and blood. I don't think I'd want to get on a scale with that many gems inside me!

Razr was just a regular angel that had really screwed up. His guilt is so overwhelming he relishes in his punishments. The time he has spent with Azagoth, Hades and Z have really taught him some lessons on demons and fallen angels. He is not the same angel he was before he made the biggest mistake of his life.

I'm thankful that Razr was a novella because the whole issue of gem bonding could have been expanded on. It was wide open for questions, speculations and conflict. In a way, I wanted more conflict on the issue between Razr and Jedda, but as the circumstances played out there was no time for hashing it out.

Razr was a quick jump into the Demonica world that I truly enjoyed. Jedda may not have been my favorite female character in this series, but she was really interesting. Learning about her and her kind brought a new side to the series that hadn't been explored before. I'm curious to see if we will get a novella with the other gem holder when the angels decide what to do with them and the gem itself.

This could definitely be read as a standalone as the novella is full of explanations on how the world works right from the start. You'll get the basics going in. Also, the appearances of previous characters is very minimal so you don't get too mixed up into their stories. Larissa Ione did a great job weaving her tale amongst the series but still being able to entice new readers that will not know the world.

A lavender-scented breeze rustled through the trees as they entered a jungle forest unlike anything Razr had ever seen, and the deeper into the woods they went, the more he realized he had been wrong about this realm. The trees swayed with the fragrant wind, their limbs heavy with silver-laced leaves that sprinkled glitter with every breath of air. It was clean here, with no hint of industrialization. No smog, no chemicals, no man-made filth.

As they walked, the trees got taller and more ornate, and Jedda giggled when he stumbled to a stunned halt. Mushrooms littered the forest floor, lit up like little neon bulbs in every color imaginable. Tiny winged creatures zipped between them, bouncing off their caps before darting upward in sprays of sparks. And here, in this forest, the trees grew around gemstones of every shape and size, their trunks surrounding them like string art.

“This…is extraordinary.”

“Yeah,” she sighed. “It is.”

“Do these gemstones provide energy?”

She nodded and continued down the path. “They power everything here. Every tree grows around a gem, and each gem grows bigger with the tree. In the center of my town there’s an oak growing around an emerald the size of an elephant.” She pointed ahead, where the forest parted to reveal a village of buildings fashioned from live trees and thick vines, and there, at the very center, was the elephant emerald.

He couldn’t stop staring in awe as she led him through the village, which bustled with activity, from people hawking baked goods or tending to gardens to a blacksmith who set a gemstone into each weapon he crafted.

“They’re enchanted stones,” Jedda told him as they walked past. “His weapons sell for a mint in other elf realms and Sheoul.”

“There are other elf realms?”

She inclined her head in greeting at an azure-haired female who passed them with a basket of apples. “There are two, both connected to this one. They’re not allowed in Filneshara except to trade.”

“Why not?”

She shrugged. “They’re kind of a**holes.”

Man, he really needed to learn more about elves.

I am delighted to make my way back into the Demonica world, but also find myself disappointed that we are only getting small glimpses back into this world through the 1001 Dark Nights. We are introduced to a new species to this world while also meeting an angel who is not Fallen, Unfallen or even an angel still. A whole new love story to follow.

Review

Razr is another character in Azagoth's world (also known as the Grim Reaper). Not quite a Fallen Angel and not and Unfallen Angel, Razr has a mission he must complete to get his wings unbound and return to heaven. Razr is a battle angel, one of three, who were connect to 3 gems that had human counterparts that held them. A long time ago, he lost his gem and the human who held it to thieves. Heaven isn't so forgiving so he and his other two angels were jailed. Now he has a chance of getting all of it back if he can locate his diamond.

Jedda is a gem fairy, a species we haven't met in this series. In fact we haven't met any fairies at all. and fairies aren't demons. At the top of her field of geology, Jedda owns a rare gems jewelry store along with being able to locate the rarest of the rare gems, both cursed and natural. Now two Fallen Angels want her services. One for devious needs, while another for his own needs.

Now Jedda has a mission to find the Gems of Enoch for a dublious fallen angel who has also cursed her in the process. Razr is her counterpart, but can she trust him with knowledge of her species or even the knowledge she knows where the gems are located.

Jedda is an interesting mix of tough lady and woman who is not afraid of who she is...a woman. Gems give her powers, but also are needed for survival. She takes not shit off anyone, but she also has a caring side to her personality and it not cruel unless pushed into a corner.

Razr's above reproach. His wings are tightly bound and ache to be released. Punishments are not on a schedule, but he has a tattoo that at any moment can go off requiring him to be beaten. The hard the beating, the longer between punishments. The softer, the closer they are together. This would drive anyone nuts. His one true shining achievement is training Azagoth's Memitim (or children).

The two fall hard and fast into bed...or the wall, but they also have experiences that bring them closer. There is some suspense, but nothing that overshadowed the story of the characters. The story actually wraps up rather quickly, which is where my biggest disappointment lies. I wanted more.

Since the ending of Revenant, we have gotten short stories through the 1001 Dark Nights series that all revolve around the characters who live in in Sheoul-gra, Azagoth's Inner Sanctum. While I am enjoying these stories, I am also at a loss as to where the series is going or if it will go anywhere. So I just have to enjoy the story for what it is and now where it is leading too. This review was originally posted on Delighted Reader

Buonasera lettrici!
“Cosa cavolo aveva appena fatto?
Quindi buona lettura e ci vediamo in “Hawkyn”.
A presto.

description
I love the Demonica World and really enjoy getting to visit it again through these 1001 Dark Nights Books. This could be read as a stand-alone but it is always nice to have an understanding of the world and the other players, which I do.

Razr is a fallen angel looking for his ticket back into Heaven. In order to go back "home" he needs to find his gemstone and if can another that is missing as well. Razr failed this mission once already and the last time it turned deadly and he ended up prison, fallen and a hefty dose of required punishment. This time he is determined not fail and he finds just the person to help him...Jedda.

Jedda is an elf, I think the first elf in all of the Demonica books. At first Razr thinks she must be a demon but regardless she is the key to get his stone back. But when he is not the only being looking for it and demons and angles and all sorts of other otherworldly don't always play well together, this new mission may just as disastrous as it was the first time around.

Jedda and Razr have that instant sizzling chemistry that many of the matches in these books have. And there is just something about it that I love, I enjoyed watching these two discover things they didn't even know existed before and learn about each other. This book also brought in cameos of some of the past characters as well as introduced some that I hope we see later. Over all I good addition to one of my favorite paranormal series and a the 1001 Dark Nights.

This is a cute enough story, fluffy and enjoyable; but it didn't really have much to do with Ione's 'Demonica' world. Here it was just used as window dressing. There were a few nice bits about a couple of series characters; but what little wordbuilding there was has been cut-and-pasted from other books in the series.

These 1001 stories are getting shorter and less substantial by the novella. There is as much page time spent advertising other books and series as there is in the actual story. I understand the need to promote other works, but the attention has begun to be more about that than to tell an entertaining tale.

This series of stories started out well; but it now feels like the novellas are being pumped out to make a quick buck for the authors and publisher.

Thank you to Tanya for the loan...

3.25 Stars.
I liked it & the mc's, Razr & Jedda, but something was missing. Well, for me something was missing.
I've been reading this series for a long time. Maybe too long?
It's a short read. About 120 pages. And there are a couple of very good steamy sex scenes.
I should have been able to finish this in one day. But I kept finding myself easily distracted. A bit bored.

Maybe I need to give this series a break for awhile. The last few have just seemed to much of
'Same Difference'
Though the characters are Very Different, the rest is very much the Same.

I liked this one. It was cute and different. New world building because before now, the joke was there were no fairies (or elves for matter).

I also liked the different take on the elves.

Poor Razr, that punishment was the worst especially considering some of the things other angels have done in the past. I didn’t think the punishment fit the crime, but it made for an interesting story.

The narrator was good. Only one exaggeration this time that made me lol.

I'm sad to say that yet another Demonica Underworld novella was underwhelming and rather disappointing. Granted Razr was better than Z, but that isn't saying much because Z was just a meh read.

The main problem with the Demonica Underworld novellas is that we know next to nothing about these new characters and there isn't much time within said novella to really get to know and like the hero and heroine. I had interest in both Azagoth and Hades from the Demonica series, but we didn't meet Razr until Z and it certainly wasn't enough to pique my interest.

Sadly, Razr wasn't a very engaging character and though Jedda's gem thing was kinda cool, that shit came out of nowhere after VERY developed world building had already taken place over the course of eleven books. To change things and bring in a new (unknown to even Angels), species and realm now wasn't appreciated by me. At all.

The next Demonica Underworld novella is Hawkyn, who we very briefly saw in Razr. Again, I know next to nothing about him and have very little interest in getting to know him better.

Considering how sub par these novellas are to the full length novels set in the Demonica/Lords of Deliverance world, I'm not sure I'll continue on. I'm not enjoying them like I did the Demonica/Lords of Deliverance books and I'd prefer to leave that on a high note. I don't want another bad novella to ruin what was otherwise a very creative, unique, and smoking hot world.

If I ever do decide to do another re-read of the Demonica/Lords of Deliverance world, I will definitely be skipping the Demonica Underworld novellas. Well, other than Azagoth and Hades because those were significantly better than Z and Razr were.

Razr is the fourth book in Larissa Ione’s Demonica Underworld series, which is a spin-off or sub-series of her greater Demonica world that follows characters who live in the Underworld, and it’s the fifteenth book in the larger combined series. In this one, we have Z’s assistant Razr, an angel who was cast out of Heaven but is neither Fallen nor Unfallen. He’s being punished for allowing the gem that was the source of his power to fall into the wrong hands, but he can earn his way back into Heaven if he can simply find it. After finally getting a good piece of intel on its whereabouts, his search leads him to London and gemologist Jedda Brighton. Not the human that she seems, Jedda is instead an otherworldly elf who, not only derives power from precious gems, but her entire life force is tied to them. Years ago, she and her sisters came across the gems belonging to Razr and his fellow angels and stole them, not realizing the terrible consequences their actions caused. However, now that she has it, her entire life depends on it. With a Fallen angel, who is also on the hunt for the gems, twisting Jedda’s arm to get her to find them for him, she and Razr will have to trust each other enough to work together to find a way out of their predicament, and along the way, they also discover a powerful attraction that just might lead to love if they don’t get themselves killed.

Razr was once a strong battle angel and part of a special triad that derived their incredible power from the Gems of Enoch. However, each of them needed a human to act as a conduit for them to be able to tap into that power. When Jedda and her sisters stole the gems, it resulted in the angels’ bonded humans dying. For their irresponsibility in letting the gems be taken and consequently humans losing their lives, Razr and his compatriots were cast out of Heaven, and at intervals of usually only a few days, he must be punished by flogging. If he doesn’t accept the beating, it will result in excruciating pain and an angel coming to do the job ten times worse. Razr believes he deserves it for what he did and accepts his punishment, but he longs for the day that he can find the gems and earn his way back into Heaven. In the meantime, he lives in Sheoul-gra and works for Azagoth, training the Memitim in battle techniques. One day, a visiting angel brings him a lead on the gems, which takes him to Jedda and a conference that turns out to be a front for a demon sacrifice, during which a curse is placed on Jedda by the Fallen angel, Shrike, who wants her to find the Gems of Enoch for him. Eventually Razr and Jedda must learn to trust one another in order to find a way to defeat Shrike. But since his gem is now Jedda’s life force, it would mean murdering the woman he’s come to love in order to get it back. In addition to literally being tortured every few days, Razr exhibits some other indications of a classic, sympathetic, tortured hero, although given the brevity of the story, we don’t get to see a lot of that beyond the physical beatings he has to endure. I like that he was able to forgive Jedda for what she and her sisters did once he hears the whole story and that he loves her enough to be willing to keep accepting the floggings indefinitely if it will protect her.

Jedda is a gem elf from an otherworldly realm that few have heard of. In fact, when Razr first meets her, he thinks elves are nothing but a myth and believes her to be a demon instead. She spends most of her time on Earth, where she passes for a human and works as a world-renowned gemologist. Jedda can actually absorb precious gems into her body where they provide the energy she needs to survive as well as giving her powers. She actually bleeds, cries, and sweats gems, and when she’s panicked, she poofs out a cloud of diamond dust, which I thought was cute. While attending the conference where she was supposed to be a speaker, she meets Razr and quickly finds out Shrike’s nefarious purpose in inviting her there. He places a curse on her so that she’ll have no choice but to bring him the Gems of Enoch, but what no one knows is that one of the gems is literally keeping her alive, and to be able to give it to either Razr or Shrike, she’d have to die first. However, because of the gem’s connection to Razr, she feels an immediate and strong connection to him as well, which makes her trust him enough to work together to find a different solution to their dilemma. Jedda can definitely have a spicy side as evidenced in how she handled the sexist mine boss in her introductory chapter, but she also has a sweet side, caring for Razr after his floggings and not wanting to be the cause of him receiving any more pain. She’s also remorseful for stealing the gems in the first place, so overall, she was a very likable heroine.

Overall, I enjoyed Razr and thought it was a respectable entry into the Demonica series. I also liked the characters and their story. However, given that it’s only 120 pages long, making it the shortest book in the series so far, the characterizations and plot aren’t quite as developed as they typically would be in a longer book. Things happen rather quickly, including the declarations of love and the buildup and subsequent denouement of the conflict. A part of me couldn’t help wishing it was a little longer to flesh things out a bit more, which is why I gave it four stars instead of higher. It briefly introduces readers to three characters, Hawkyn (Hawkyn), a Memitim, Suzanne (Her Guardian Angel), another Memitim who appears to be serving Azagoth and Lilliana (Azagoth), and Cipher (Cipher), an Unfallen angel who is taking refuge in Sheoul-gra. What little we see of them, they all seem like they have the potential to be interesting characters, so I look forward to reading their stories, which are the next three in the series. So all things taken into consideration, Razr was a nice little novella that was an entertaining read despite its short length.
