What does a pathetic class of misfits have in their arsenal to combat their schoolteacher’s alien technology, bizarre powers and...tentacles?!
Ever caught yourself screaming, "I could just kill that teacher"?
What would it take to justify such antisocial behavior and weeks of detention? Especially if he's the best teacher you've ever had? Giving you an "F" on a quiz? Mispronouncing your name during roll call...again? How about blowing up the moon and threatening to do the same to Mother Earth—unless you take him out first?! Plus a reward of a cool 100 million from the Ministry of Defense!
Okay, now that you're committed... How are you going to pull this off? What does your pathetic class of misfits have in their arsenal to combat Teach's alien technology, bizarre powers and...tentacles?!
The class is divided: one half wants to carry on with the plan to assassinate Koro Sensei, while the other half wants to save him. So Koro Sensei splits them into two teams, led by Nagisa and Karma, and has them battle it out. The students of 3-E draw on everything they’ve learned so far to battle for or against Koro Sensei’s life! Then, to uphold their now unified goal, they need to infiltrate the International Space Station…

For here Am I sitting in a tin can Far above the world Planet Earth is blue And there's nothing I can do—David Bowie
In this volume we return to a lot of action, including a paintball game featuring two sides, blue and red: kill Koro Sensei or save him. Save wins, so one solution, out of the blue, is to have Nagisa and Karma go in a rocket toward the International Space Station to see if they can somehow save him. Wacky volume.
Class 3-E is divided on the best plan for going forward. So it's time for a battle royale to decide their course of action. Everything seems to be moving smoothly towards some sort of endgame. I can't recall how many volumes are supposed to be in this series, but it seems like things shouldn't run too many more volumes.
Seriously loving all of the characters. I will be sad when this series is over. Here's hoping that the end is worth the journey. Matsui hasn't missed a step yet … Highly recommended!
With the silly origin story out of the way, focus thankfully returns to the classroom and the students. Evenly split between trying to save Koro Sensei or kill him, the class agrees to let a game of capture the flag decide the issue. Nagisa and Karma steal the spotlight in the exciting battle, and the end result boldly takes them where no junior high students have gone before.
I am so excited that the action has picked up again. I flew through this book with no problem and I'm so glad the next volume has been released in English for me today! The characters really come together in this volume and I enjoyed that a lot. However, it left off on a cliffhanger once again and I can't get the next book for a little bit.
Look, I really enjoy this series and every volume has been delightful. But at the same time, this one was EXTREMELY action-heavy and it felt like the actual overarching plot was on the back burner for the duration of the book. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to see how the final four volumes play out. But this wasn't what I wanted from a volume this far into the series because it really did feel like filler.
I still have a huge problem with the sexualization of all the girl characters in this series. This manga book was one of the worst ones in my mind, and even worse because the author is doing it to the students, who are supposed to be young. However, the story plot is really great and progressing beautifully.
The aftermath of the decisions made in the last volume, and an epic assassination battle between the class. It all ends with a blast off to the ISS... Where will this series go next??? The art is good, the action easy to follow. The plot is getting out there, but it is pretty awesome!
#adoro
The good: -Great resolution for the conflict started in the last volume. -The battle between both teams was by far one of the bes scenes in the whole series. -The final battle has a lot of feelings involved, making it much more intense. -The plot was moving forward but the real protagonist of this volume was the action.
The bad: -All of the "Space travel thing" was not organically built.
Most of this volume focuses on the battle between Nagisa and Karma. The battle was a bit confusing for me which I hope that I can understand more when I watch the anime next time.
Způsob, jakým byly vyobrazeny zkoušky, se mi moc nezamlouval a tyto části mě ani moc nebavily. Naštěstí tam byly pouze krátce a jen dvakrát.
Hlavně by mi určitě brejlatá holka sebrala Karmu a to bych jí neodpustila.

The students of Class 3E are in a battle – against one another! Divided on the question of whether to assassinate Koro Sensei or try to save him, they have decided this is the best way to reach an agreement, with the understanding that either way, the entire class will support the winning side. The team to save the teacher is led by Isogai while the opposing team is led by Karma, with Karasuma as judge and Ritsu will keep score.
Each member of the class has a decision to make - continue with their assignment to assassinate Koro Sensei, or use what time is left to try to save him. The decision they make will decide which team they are on. Karma’s team becomes the Red Team and Isogai’s the Blue Team. The two teams are just about evenly matched in number, but not necessarily with skills. Unfortunately, the Red Team ended up with most of the specialists – combat, marksmanship, defense, and recon. Each team has a flag, and the object is to capture the flag, knocking out as many opponents as possible along the way (using paintball guns). Koro Sensei is happy to see his students do their very best work, what they have been training for.
Let the battle begin…
This volume was really good, as we watch the students fight one another in order to see whether they will try to kill or save Koro Sensei. They all care about their teacher, but some of them feel they need to justify their new skills and use them for the purpose for which they were intended. They have all agreed that whatever the outcome, the losing team will wholeheartedly support the winners and the class will then continue to work together toward a common goal. We get to see how much the individual students have developed since their training began, both as assassins and people. It’s not surprising that the end of the battle turns out the way it does.
After the battle, still seeking information, they learn that the data they seek is on the space station, which is in orbit. To request the information would take too much time, time they don’t have. But Koro Sensei has an idea of how they can acquire the info sooner. However, this solution is not without its risks. Naturally, his students are all in! Can’t wait to see how that works out in the next volume!
The students of Class 3-E are outcasts at Kunugigaoka Junior High, and they are also trying to kill their teacher. They have the perfect excuse. Their teacher is the alien octopus that recently destroyed 70% of the moon. This alien travelled to Earth, where he became Class 3-E's teacher, “Koro Sensei.” He promises to destroy the Earth after the 3-E students graduate. Thus, it is up to these students to kill their teacher in order to save the world. They are the “Assassination Classroom.”
Assassination Classroom, Vol. 17 (Chapters 143 to 151; entitled Time for a Breakup) opens after Class 3-E discovers the true origin of Koro-Sensei. Now, some of the students have changed their mind about assassinating him. Still, half the class wants to complete its mission and kill him. So its time for Class 3-E versus itself. The kill-Koro-Sensei half of the class (“Team Red”) versus the other half that does not want to kill him (“Team Blue”). Then, it is time to infiltrate the International Space Station.
Assassination Classroom Volume 17 could have presented a dramatic shift in the plot line, but the mission is alive. Matsui keeps the humour and keeps the characters intact, even if some missions and motivations change. Assassination Classroom remains funny and inventive with a story that keeps you chasing it.
Semua tim menang, semua tim bahagia, apalagi para guru mereka...
Huhuhu... Semakin dekat dengan akhir kisah bikin saya galau buat mengakhirinya. 3 volume terakhir belum berada di tangan saya alias saya kudu minjem dulu. Sementara apa saya bakal kuat nunggu bagian akhir tanpa spoiler? Eh, saya juga ngintip ngintip versi live actionnya tapi kurang sreg. Versi animenya seru juga, bikin ngakak juga meski masih ngakak versi manganya.
Nagisa wants to save Koro Sensei! Karma wants to kill him! Now the two have drawn up armies and are having a battle/capture the flag game to decide which plan is the one that Class E will focus on for the coming months. It becomes a shonen action highlighting many of the characters' developed skills- not for all of them, and not in-depth, and not particularly funny, but it's a fight! Woo! It becomes a shonen manga with mediocre stakes! At least the connection between Nagisa and Karma is good, right? It's all emotional? Well, they're definitely the two with the most development so far, but we don't know about their friendship until it gets info-dumped in this volume. But apparently it's a big deal and you really need to be invested in it for the series going forward, no matter how awkwardly done it might be.
If you thought last volume was chalk full of emotions and action then sit back and get a second dosage in volume 17! While this does not hit the peaks of last volumes revelations, this is a pretty heavy hitter as Class-E vs. Class-E! This volume to me marks a startling contrast from previous and to me truly begins to wrap up this story. I am actually shocked that this isn't closer to the end of the story (I believe there are a total of 21 volumes) as I am wondering how things will progress from here on out. The story is compelling but I cannot help but feel we are in for a sad ending...it's just the feelings I have as the emotional rollercoaster of this issue makes me feel the end will not be a happy one...but I hope I am wrong. Yusei Matsui has been pitching a gem with both art and storytelling!
The Battle for Koro-Sensei's life is fascinating for a couple of reasons. First, we get to see how the students plan and execute attacks after months of training. Second, what makes Karma and Nagisa so deadly is made clear through the way they fight to achieve their goals.
Finally, we get to see how they are all brought together by their heartfelt battle. The fact that the class can come together and work towards a common goal as the fight goes on is truly extraordinary. I especially appreciated how both Karma and Nagisa understood how they had fight and win if they were going to bring the class together.
It's also rewarding to see Karma and Nagisa recognize and reignite their friendship.
