Time Between Us #1-2

Time and Time Again: A Collection

Rate this book
A spellbinding love story by New York Times best-selling author Tamara Ireland Stone, originally published as Time Between Us and Time After Time, is now available as a bind-up.

Time Between Us

Anna and Bennett were never supposed to meet: she lives in 1995 Chicago and he lives in 2012 San Francisco. But Bennett's unique ability to travel through time and space brings him into Anna's life, and with him, a new world of adventure and possibility. As their relationship deepens, they face the reality that time might knock Bennett back where he belongs, even as a devastating crisis throws everything they believe into question. Against a ticking clock, Anna and Bennett are forced to ask themselves how far they can push the bounds of fate-and what consequences they can bear in order to stay together.

Time After Time

Bennett's unable to stay in the past for more than brief visits, skipping out on big chunks of his present in order to be with Anna in hers. They each are confident that they'll find a way to make things work...until Bennett witnesses a single event he never should have seen (and certainly never expected to). Will the decisions he makes from that point on cement a future he doesn't want?

Maybe really a 4.5. There were things that I loved about this book and things that were frustrating and complicated. Overall though, I would have to say that it was a good, but unusual, love story.

These books were the perfect pair to begin the school year with. Especially when I have no time to read and school is stressful and it gives me a break/outlet from my own life. I fell in love with Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone and I'm so glad that I decided to buy her other book(s) - it's confusing when the entire series was put together into one single book - because ahh they remind me why I love to read.

Now I know why I haven't met my soulmate yet. He's stuck in another timeline ;)

When I picked this book up on one of my many trips to the bookstore, I just immediately knew I had to buy it. I had never heard of the author, but the story sounded so intriguing and the cover was awesome.

OMG. I don't even know where to start. This book was intense. It kept me guessing and wondering what the hell was going to happen next. I mean, just look at the premise of the book. Boy and girl fall in love. Boy is from 2012. Girl is from 1995. It can't possibly have a good ending, can it? That's what I was constantly thinking throughout the entire book. I had so many theories and so many possibilities of how it was going to end. But I ultimately had one general prediction. And I ended up being completely wrong, which I LOVE. It will definitely keep you guessing!

Oh the romance. It got me good :) ...I haven't been in the best romantic mood because I am pretty much done with my own romantic life, so I've been a little cynical, which SUCKS because I'm a hopeless romantic at heart (I have the chinese symbols for true love tattooed on me!). HOWEVER, this book reminded me of how much I love love. I mean, come on. It's like the ultimate love story. Not only is distance keeping these two people apart, but time is as well. They were never supposed to meet, but somehow, they belong together. There aren't even enough words to describe how much I love this idea.

You know how you read a book, and you wonder what the other main character's viewpoint is? Well, this book gives it to you. The first half is in Anna's point of view, and the second half is in Bennett's point of view. Once I realized this, I immediately thought: we know what it's like to be the one who is left behind, but now we get to see what it's like to be the one who leaves. Brilliant idea on the author's part.

There is also a life lesson that can be taken away from this book. There are consequences to your actions, and there can be huge impacts on your life and other people's lives because of the decisions you make. That is obvious if you are a time traveler, but this is also true in non-time-travel-type situations. It definitely made me think about decisions I have been making, which I honestly really appreciate. I needed that.

So, what did I think overall? I think Tamara Ireland Stone is an amazing writer. I am so happy I picked up this book, and I am so grateful that she wrote it (and combined both books into one! Awesome by the way!). I just loved the plot so much. No unnecessary drama. Everything was believable, which is crazy because we're talking about time traveling! There wasn't a moment where I thought, omg this is ridiculous. The entire story was practically perfect. My only complaint is that I want more! I want to know what else happens to my two new favorite people. One could argue that it ended perfectly and needs no more explanation, but I can't help but wonder. I guess that proves that this book and this author are incredible :)

MY FAVORITE QUOTES:

Bennett: So, what are you doing tomorrow?
Anna: Tomorrow night?
Bennett: No. Tomorrow. All Day. Unless that's too much of me?"
(OMG. This was so cute! Put the biggest smile on my face!)

"I don't think I can go back to a life without you."
(This is just one of many quotes that gave me all the feels. LOVE this.)

"So many people take proximity for granted. We just want to be in the same place at the same time."
(So heartbreaking, but I absolutely love it. Perfect quote here.)

This is The Time Traveler’s wife YA edition in some ways. I liked it. I liked the characters but as a Duology, it wrapped up leaving me with so many questions, namely “How” and that’s unsatisfying.

This book was just so CUTE AND FLUFFY

I usually don't seek out romance novels, especially not YA romance. Don't get me wrong, I love romantic subplots if the characters have chemistry, but I'm not a fan of books that revolve around romance and have virtually no plot. But after reading the summary of this one I was absolutely hooked. What can I say? I'm a sucker for time travel stories (fun fact: i watched About Time on Netflix before reading this, which is an equally cute time travel romance movie that i highly recommend)

So this book (or books, as this is a duology) is about Anna, a girl from 1995, and Bennett, a time traveller from 2012 who enrolls in the local high school after he must remain in 1995 for longer than expected. Anna spots him on her morning run and is almost immediately facinated by him. The two meet, he fills her in on his secret, and the two gradually come together and fall in love. The rest of the novel from there is basically just them trying to navigate the difficulties that come with being in the most painful long distance relationship ever conceived.

Despite it's length, these two stories are a quick and light read. It's fun and enjoyable, imaginitive, and the characters are likable enough. I will say that I did enjoy reading from Anna's perspective more than Bennett's (although i liked the latter as a character a lot more) the second part of the book felt a little slower than the first, with a lot more filler, but it did what it needed to do in terms of showing the after effects of the events in the first book. If i had read the two separately, i may have been more disappointed with the slower pace, but as one large novel, it was relatively cohesive.

The romance is easy to root for and feels real and earnest. Some of the "time travel dates" dive into cheesy territory but honestly that's the charm of the book. However, I felt as if things wrapped up a little too neatly in the end. I'm not going to go into spoiler territory, but the ending felt a little too perfect and neat and didn't really match the stakes that were raised or the lessons the characters were meant to learn. That being said, despite it's flaws, this was a fun read and i throughly enjoyed every page.

Done with the second book! Rating: 3.5

It was still cute and I liked Bennett’s POV better than Anna even though absolutely nothing happened in the second book. The whole book felt like a 300+ page of fillers that was still light and fun to read.

Done with the first book. Here’s my review:
Changing from 3.5 stars to 3.75

Feels similar to the Time Traveler’s Wife but definitely a lighter and happier read. I enjoyed most of it but I had issues with the characters, specifically Anna. Towards the end of the first book I realized that she’s not very empathetic to the situation of other people. She’s almost always concerned about having what she wants. I hated how she asked Bennett to do a day-over like she didn’t care about Bennett’s reasons/explanations for not wanting to do it in the first place. I don’t know, she just seemed like a selfish person to me. I didn’t like how Emma said that she’s a strong person because she didn’t seem like that to me at all. Also, I just realized that the characters are a little shallow. They didn’t really have distinct personalities. I’m not even sure how Anna and Bennett’s relationship started, there didn’t seem to be any foundation. I like the premise itself, and the writing style is so easy to read and be absorbed into.

I found this book in my ELA teacher's room while searching for books to read and I don't regret taking it, I mean the blurb itself is interesting like it's about a time traveler? I think the execution of the time traveler concept in this book was well done and it was interesting to see the author's take on it. I also love the time traveler falls in love with someone trope in this book, it was nice to see how their relationship was going to progress especially since Bennett had that ability to see how it would look in the future. I would say that there was a bit of angst and moments where you just want to throw the book on your wall and scream in frustration. This book was long (at least around 700+ pages) and it was the perfect book for me to read after I was done with state testing. I definitely recommend this book!

Time travel is one of the best like tropes/ genres to me, and this book was a hefty book, but it was good. ( I always find it hard to review a book after I've read it) but what I will say is, I do have lots of favorites when it comes to time travel, including the time traveller's wife, and even you could say one day the movie and television show, because of the connection people have who time travel has, and the thing you always realise, is that time travelling has repercussions every single time.

This was an OKAY book with a lot of MORE-THAN-OKAY moments. There were a lot of little things in this book (books) that were specific to my tastes or my life. For example, the main character had the same kind of hair as I do. They also went on a mini vacation to a park that is an hour from my hometown. And at one point, they listen to one of my favorite songs.

Without those little things, I wouldn't have liked it as much, but it was still a very cute book.

I loved this book, and Tamara Ireland Stones writing style. I think this romance is perfect. Anna and bennet really showcase devotion and understanding of how far to push eachother so they both can grow.
I am just confused about the time travel aspect, his powers or gifts for say are very confusing, How did he get them? How do they really work? it’s all kinda cool but weird at the same time.
Anyways, I highly recommend this book!!!

This is a time travel book, so you KNOW I LOVED IT!! I grabbed this from my shelf at school and read it in two days. I loved this story and the author wrote in such a way that I felt I was there with the characters. I just couldn't stop reading this story. We had no power, due to the hurricane, and this book let me escape for a while into another realm. I can't wait to share this with my students and see if I can get any of them to read it.

I came across this book at my job in a middle school library. Out of all the books I have read so far this year, I can't believe how much I absolutely loved this story. I think it might be one of my favorites. I loved the time travel love story and how sweet Bennett was with Anna and how he always thought of her happiness. I do wish the second half of the book would have dealt more with his grandmother Maggie and their relationship, but overall, it was worth the read!

Killed my taste for romance books.

It was alright. Honestly, I was more interested in whole time travelling aspect than the romance plot. I also preferred the first book and did not care for the rest of it. I guess it was just a more compelling story for me if the main character learned how to let go, find herself, and move forward towards her dreams, but this is a romance book so of course they have to end up with each other against all odds.

It took me more than a month to finish this book, but I don't think it's the book's fault. I was just not very much into love stories lately. It's surprisingly a well-paced book. If I were into romance, then I really would've had no problem eating this up.

This was honestly not as memorable as I thought it would be..? So this gets a 3.5 star for me ;w;

I kinda didn’t like the first book. I think the chemistry between them was forced and the female protagonist was whiny and annoying. The ending also sucked big time. However, by the second book, I can’t put it down. It was narrated by Bennet through his POV and I can say that it is infinitely better than Anna’s POV. The ending was so cute!

I love time travel romance books — but not so much this one.

The book lacked in many aspects for me. I felt like some parts of the plot could have been focused on more (such as: the sister missing & coming back, the grandmother, etc.)

I didn’t really like Anna’s character as well, maybe just me (?)

I did enjoy the travelling scenes though, very cute and sweet. ❤️
